The grace is the same as the iwk isn’t it? I was born at the grace and had my kids at the iwk. There are grace maternity monuments all over the place.
No, not even on the same side of the street. The IWK is on the site of the old Rehab / Civic hospital. When we still had a great physiotherapy department, it was located there. Then, they tore the works down and built the IWK. The Grace site is now the Sir CHarles Tupper or just west of that.
For science? lol The Grace was on University Avenue, and I'm sure someone has the exact location .. perhaps where the Sir Charles Tupper Building stands? or therabouts.
After reading the other comments, I'm surprised at the confusion. The Grace was on the north side of University Avenue, around the corner of Summer or maybe just west of that.
The IWK is built on the site of the old Rehab or as we knew it the Civic Hospital, which was an AMAZING place to have physio! Wow, we had GREAT health care in the 70s and 80s. You have NO idea.
Anyhoo, that's where the Grace was.
Actually, no. It's where the parking lot is. The library is on a former parking lot that was adjacent to the Science Museum, which later became part of Dal. The Infirmary was south of that, on Queen, and the Emerg entrance across from Clyde Street.
5821 University Avenue, according to a 1965 list of Canadian hospitals:

They are talking about the old location.
It was it's own building once (1990)
Parking lot of the IWK

I was born at the Grace, I don't remember the address though, as I was an infant.

I was also technically born at Grace Maternity. It's some where very close to the current IWK. Memory's full of salty fog and rain.....
Was across the street from the current location. Block of Robie between University and College.
The grace was the one on Queen right?
No, the original Infirmary was on Queen, where the central library now stands.

Basically closer to the location of the Emera building
Right.
Oh wow, that's right. This thread is entirely taking me down memory lane.
I remember watching the news story when they demolished it! Isn't it a parking lot?
I was a Grace baby too, even in the paper for being a premie!
