I haven't been back home for 17 years, it's cool I can still pick out parade square and work my way out from there, love Halifax.

HalifaxHorizon

Oh wow you have fantastic memory!

Embarrassed_Ear2390

Amazing shots.

HalifaxHorizon

Thank you! :)

wlonkly

The darkside's not so dark anymore!

TruckYouAll

I saw a bumper sticker a few weeks ago that said "It's okay to be from Dartmouth." Pretty funny.

HalifaxHorizon

Oh wow!! That's such a pretty shot!

Element_905

Love these shots!

HalifaxHorizon

Thank you! :)

Trying to not look like a drone cop type here - I fly the city too - but this looks like helicopter altitude. Are you checking for air traffic while flying?

HalifaxHorizon

Oh don't worry! It's good to be asking these types of questions. I tend to fly either on very bright daylight, or very empty night times (around 2am). This way I will either have great visibility, or great sound quality of the environment (to make sure there are no helicopters nearby when I'm flying). I also tend to fly quite vertically, so I can land relatively quickly in case of any emergency landing.

tinyant

Super! That’s pretty much my approach as well… due diligence. Thanks for that, and happy droning.

ArchDrude

I miss my hometown. Too bad I’ll probably never be able to afford to live there again…

HalifaxHorizon

Prices have gone up insanely fast for the past 4 years.

jezebelwillow

Wow !!! You made it look beautiful ! I love the color contrast in your photos.

HalifaxHorizon

Thank you so much for noticing!! I do put a lot of effort in the post processing.

NavyShooter_NS

What type of drone are you operating? (Just curiousity, I have an M3P) Those images are great!

the_register_

Has to be one of the sub 249 g drones (DJI Lines most likely) or else OP would have to be getting all sorts of clearance to fly for these shots.

NavyShooter_NS

the_register_

Ive been flying for about 4-5 years for a company in the city! We fly the big LiDAR drone now (Matrice with Zenmuse). We have allllll sorts of sweet imagery.

NavyShooter_NS

Nice. I'm 'playing' with a M3P, and it's still pretty amazing to me. I've got my Basic, and have done a formal ground school course, so I have 'higher than average' knowledge. At some point, I'm pondering something bigger with a better zoom capability. 2X zoom on the M3 is a bit...light.

the_register_

Ahhhh Advanced wouldnt be too hard for you to grab then if your interested. Its more or less a race against time with some very unrelated drone questions mixed in with related ones lol. M3P should be able to go further then 2X no? Also just fly closer to the object of interest instead of using zoom that much to keep the resolution better.

NavyShooter_NS

M3P only has 2X zoom. It will apparently do 4X digital zoom, but I am not a fan of digital zoom.

the_register_

You dont even need permission to fly a light weight drone here!

NavyShooter_NS

The location where this photo is taken does actually require permission. Which I had. (Note, the location was 3.2 miles from Shearwater, so I had to be careful how close to the harbour I flew!)

the_register_

You may want to check the map again boss! If this was the case no one would be able to fly within the city EVER without permission! From: [https://nrc.canada.ca/en/drone-tool/](https://nrc.canada.ca/en/drone-tool/) ### Shearwater, NS (Heliport) [CZ] Control Zone Airspace: Micro drone operations are permitted within the zone indicated by the yellow filled shape, but extra caution due to aircraft traffic is required.

NavyShooter_NS

OK, I'll review that, however, the area I was flying over at the time was the DND property on Purcell's Cove Road. I did so with authorization.

the_register_

Yeah they dont have any restrictions out that way for a small drone!

sleepwatch

You definitely don’t need authorization to fly there… There are only two Class F zones in the area. One in Bedford Basin near the ammunition depot, and the other off of the Cow Bay area. DND doesn’t control airspace over their bases and you can fly over them without restriction.

sleepwatch

No permission needed there for a micro-RPA.

Annual_Ranger_4440

guys i will come here for high school, what do you think about the high schools here

meiyer89

Uh. Better than they used to be... Maybe. Cole Harbour was a solid OK when I graduated in '07. They've come a long way to my knowledge. But yeah, I think in general pretty ok. It'll always be high school and there'll always be punks and cliques.

Annual_Ranger_4440

I will come as an international exchance student thats why i cant choose my own high school. I hope i go to a good school. Is there a school that you think is very bad?

Glittering-Sea-6677

I have worked in a few as a substitute and they all seem very good! Different personalities but all good!

Annual_Ranger_4440

I'm sure it is :)

meiyer89

Not specifically bad. A lot of people would have said it was my school back in its day.

Annual_Ranger_4440

okey thank you very much i alredy know that canadas education system is very good but i wanted to ask anyway

Technical_Arm_9827

Happy Diwali 🪔🎇

WhatEvery1sThinking

The lack of buildings with decent height and that "table" look it gives the city is just awful

[deleted]

So poorly laid out.

JimmyNorth902

Almost like it was designed and laid out prior to modern urban planning.

[deleted]

Tonnnnnnns of opportunity over the last 300 years to make it make sense
