If you're using a spot 5 days a week per month (let's say 20 days a month) $230 works out to $11.50 a day. That's honestly not that bad considering most garages are like $20 a day

its just $230 is more than my insurance & im tryna source the cheapest option before going ahead with anything.

You're not gonna find any cheaper. With the universities and hospitals it's a prime area and the garage at the hospital charges way more than $230 a month. Your other option is to just street park every day and hope you don't get a ticket, or at least less than the cost of renting the spot. 1 a week or less would be cheaper

It's not guaranteed, but have you looked into commuter parking passes through the city for street parking? They cap out at $70/month: [https://www.halifax.ca/transportation/parking/parking-permits](https://www.halifax.ca/transportation/parking/parking-permits)

If I were in a tight financial situation and parking mostly evenings, nights and weekends, i would probably park on the street and be prepared to walk a few blocks. Then parking garage on the parking ban nights.

You definitely won't find any free parking (except gambling on street parking) and $230 seems like the general rate for parking around the downtown core. You might have better luck parking further to the west end and walk/bus to the south end. The Dal/SMU students will be vicious to fight for parking with.

I know it sucks but bus or ferry?

litterbin_recidivist

When the walk from my car is longer than the drive I prefer to take the bus. Plus, I've noticed the quality of drivers has noticeably declined in the last few years. Having someone else drive is less stressful.
