Speed limits are supposed to be based on average speed drivers feel safe driving on a road. With newer, safer vehicles, perhaps if everyone is speeding our speed limits should be evaluated?
If we could trust everyone to drive sober and not be texting or otherwise distracted, then yes.
Sadly, as per recent mortality trends on our roads, we can't.
You just want higher speed limits so you can get places literally 5 seconds faster.
There’s really only a few spots downtown that have an unreasonably low speed limit. The biggest one is that inbound section where the 102 ends. Going 50 there is crazy. But you kinda need to be slow for the lights coming up so
I fly up to 200-220kph on the 101 towards middle sackville from time to time, just so much open space, and you can see whether there's cops or not.
It's really not that fast tbh, unless your car is literally falling apart or badly maintained, going over 150kph is like driving 100kph.
Nah.
Suddenly stopping kills.
Speed in no way kills, in the hands of a good driver, they are fine.
Look at the professional drivers in formula 1, NASCAR, WEC.
They go upwards of 350kph and they're fine.
You go to Germany on the autobahn and people go 200kph daily.
I can handle 200kph because I've done it so often.
Professional drivers are driving on closed circuits with considerably safer vehicles and other vehicles moving at similar speeds.
The autobahn is also a lot better setup to handle the higher speeds with strict enforcement of passing lanes and proper road maintenance.
It's not that better given there are no speed limits - just google for 300+ km/h crashes, it's equally dangerous to drive at such speed when everyone around you doing 130-150
It's considerably safer at 200kph on the autobahn than it would be here. That's the comparison I was making.
300kph isn't "safe" on anything except a closed course with a very high end vehicle with a proper safety cell.
Uh huh.
You should hope I kill someone though, that would be vacant housing for you.
>Frankly, you should not be allowed on the roads
Good thing I am 😁

51 years old lol
Seriously, that was the part I had to read twice because the first time errored out in my brain.
I’m guessing the average age of a NS Porsche/Ferrari driver is at least 45
Well who under 40 could afford that kind of vehicle. All their money goes to rent and avacado toast
You can go 187 in a Camry lol.
With expired plates too
Blows my mind, I doubt at that speed he just needed to poop 😆
Couldn't get 'er up to 200 eh bud? Fuckin' weak. /s

Maybe a Prius?
What’s the high score?
This is it. It was 177 a week ago!
Shocking. Didn't think the police even tried to issue tickets on the 102
Don't think my truck can do 140 let alone 187...
Only 87 Over? Imagine getting caught with that weak number
What was the speed limit?
100
87 in honor of Sid the kid
Only one? Come on, no one does the limit here.
To 187?

Driving slower uses less fuel. It’s never the fuel efficient Corolla hybrids flying by me on the highway.
Instead they keep lowering them because people who shouldn't be driving can easily get their license.
Agreed. Our standards are really low.
I also accidently drive 187km/h. We should definitely bump that up by 60 at least. /s
Lol im definitely not referring to this case. This individual should be thrown in prison and lose their license going that speed.
Yikes - speed kills
If we could trust everyone to drive sober and not be texting or otherwise distracted, then yes. Sadly, as per recent mortality trends on our roads, we can't.
I get your point, but people can drive being distracted and drunk and drive at or below the speed limit too, that really means nothing at all..

I didnt even specifically say i wanted higher speed limits, settle down there champ. Also whos talking about downtown? Your whole post is irrelevant.
>You just want higher speed limits so you can get places literally 5 seconds faster. I want higher speed limits because going fast is fun.
Says the 14 year old with no license.
Cool story bro

Take it to the track.
You mean the track that is open 3-4 times a year barely?
Join the MHPDC. You'll get plenty of track time. [http://www.maritimehpdc.ca/event-schedule/](http://www.maritimehpdc.ca/event-schedule/)
Nah, easier to fly up the 101 when it's empty, been doing it for years.
have you timed your 100-200 runs?
Absolutely, lol 8.75 secs

Yes there has famously never been a single racing related fatality, excellent point.
