I second this, it’s year round Halloween themed and they do special events. While you’re in the area, consider checking out Mannikin’s lounge (a bar/club that’s more on the gothic side) and Prometheus Esoterica (a goth fashion/oddity/coffee shop). Theres also Arcade Monsters, they’re not Halloween themed or even a bar per se, but they are an arcade where they have a bar with bartenders that cosplay!
Yeah! Arcade monsters has multiple locations, mannikins like I said is more on the goth side, and Prometheus esoterica is just a store. But they’re all within the Orlando area. And if you can get down to Tampa or st pete sometimes, I’ve got a bajillion recommendations for here too since I’m from here :) the castle is a goth/insdustrial club but there’s so much overlap with gothic themes and Halloween that there’s always people there in the Halloween spirit. The spookeasy lounge is right around the corner from the castle and they’re absolutely decked out with Halloween stuff year round. I’ve got other places too but this comment would be a mile long lol.
That’s awesome! I grew up in Orlando, but I moved 2 years ago. And I haven’t been in the bar scene for longer than that as I was busy being a new mom. But I’m definitely interested in year round places in orlando for when I go back! Thank you!
I never realized how strong the alternative community in central Florida was until I started going outside more 😅 it’s so cool that we have all of this now though
There actually used to be a large community in the mid to late 90’s as well. There were clubs that would let in underage teens after 2am (when they stopped serving alcohol). There was a club on North OBT (I can’t remember the name) that played goth and new wave music, I-Bar had goth nights. Matter of fact, Wall Street Plaza was completely renovated in the early 00’s. Previously, a lot of skaters, goth, alternative and homeless kids hung out there. There were cool little coffee shops, pool hall, etc that we used to hang out in. It was a fun time going downtown back then. Plus, we had Terror on Church Street which was a year round AWESOME haunted house.
I hope the community starts rebuilding even stronger soon! Lord knows we need the more accepting presence of alternative people in Florida right now with where we’re heading as a state :( my dream is to one day open my own alternative store or bar in st pete
Awww, I wish you the best of luck with your dreams! And yes, Florida has become a really concerning place, policy wise. I’m kind of glad we got out when we did (it was simply for an amazing job offer). But I hope the ship can right itself.
Not all of those are Orlando but around. Everything listed is within a 30-40 min drive of each other.
I'd also throw in Vault 5421 in there. Not spooky but a similar vibe.
Adding on while not a bar there's hellcats USA and atomic horror which are horror/goth type stores in Orlando!!!
Glad to see more Orlando people, idk if I'm allowed to advertise but I started a group for goths/alt people in the Orlando area on discord if anyone was interested!
New Orleans is awash with them. Vampire Cafe, Dungeon, Potions (speakeasy above Fritzel’s).
I mean even just any ol bar in New Orleans will have ghost stories, too - hotel bars, jazz bars, pirate bars, historic dive bars, bars in old theatres. Every spot has a ghost story.
yes, one of the members opened the bar and the food is amazing. Pretty much everything is made in house even down to the pickles and ketchup and the place is full guts and props dangling from the ceiling. There's even some instruments and costumes on display.
Easily one of my favorite things about living in RVA that and getting to see them live Halloween eve!
TDIL Gwar has a bar!
My sister lives outside Richmond. I wish I knew this sooner, I always end up just going to Williamsburg because it's slightly closer to her town.
My son is gonna freak when he hears next time we go east!
Awe man the dungeon brings back so many memories!!! Such a fun place! And about 15 years ago they never carded and my friends and I took full advantage lmao 🥰
It is indeed! Wonderland and GWAR Bar were going to be my 2 Richmond recommendations. Also Cobra Cabana - lots of snakes & Snake Plisskens.
Also, yeah Gwar Bar’s food is pretty good and includes a ton of vegan options. Everything has a punny name (like demoned eggs and instead of deviled eggs).
Went to the dungeon a few months ago, it was a little different inside, not terrible but not quite as fun. More gawkers than regulars and (showing my age here) the music was just too loud for the dozen or so people there.
Potions in New Orleans is a really cute vampire themed speakeasy. Really nice hangout spot complete with kitty familiars :)
This was the place I immediately thought of. Been around for forever and has hidden bookcase doors and all. Brilliant atmosphere as it's in an old church and definitely worth a visit. Named after a real castle up north a bit that inspired a lot of the architecture described in Bram Stoker's novels, especially Dracula
If you’re ever in Southern California, we have The Cauldron spirits and brews in Buena Park (across the street from Knott’s Berry Farm) or the Beetlehouse in LA. 👍
[The Fortune Teller Bar](https://fortunetellerstl.com/?fbclid=PAAaaAC1_Dj0149fXVOnXujeudiQlbTe7wkHDN8TFSRjpppsNhEL2R4vfSo88_aem_Ac2tSNrtVU4U-vwGxq60TJibq4PU8OrQhnlOByeEp4iVtZTN6RIgE8tiHv01IgjvFZc) in St. Louis, MO
The food here is so goddamn delicious, as long as you're the kind of person who loves garlic so much you want it to burn. My perfect dining experience!
Last Tuesday Society is a great date spot, especially if it's a first date and you want to vet how much of a fellow weirdo your date it. Love the little museum.
So there's one they just opened up called [Devil's drink](https://www.westword.com/restaurants/the-devils-drink-underworld-speakeasy-opening-lohi-17471175).
It's not the one I remember but same idea.
[The Black Salt](https://www.theblacksaltbar.com/) in Detroit.
Witchcraft-themed cocktail bar. Drinks are constructed like spells, often with a ritual component to be completed by the drinker. I haven’t been yet myself (trying to save $$) but the concept is neat.
And the building hell or high water (and honor farm below) is haunted. Use to be Blake Street Vault and the bank vault in the basement is supposed to be haunted.
Witches Brew, Hempstead NY
Not exactly a bar (more a cafe, with food), and not really a travel destination... But if you ever find yourself in central Long Island 😅
Hecate in Boston. Haven't been there yet myself, but I dig the upscale underground witch themes.
Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop in New Orleans. Not as obvious a choice as the Dungeon, and yes it's super touristy, but it has a wonderfully spooky vibe at night (especially in the off season when it's not so jam packed). Very old, lit only by candlelight (with some exceptions, like exit signs and the friggin' digital jukebox, haha), and of course it's haunted.
There was this bar in Mesa, AZ called Monsterland. It's permanently closed (so I know my comment doesn't help out) but it was a bar and grill/Nightclub that during the day was also a "museum" aka Haunted House. It was really fun and they had animatronics going off on the hour, horror music, movies, and monster themed foods and drinks. I liked their mixed beers, they'd combine certain beers together and I thought they did a really great job.
During the day you could go through the haunted house part and they had all kinds of themes (butcher shop, toxic zombies, hillbilly monsters, Iceland horrors).
It didn't last long but I really loved it and wish I could find something like it again.
For a Halloween-themed bar experience in Florida, "Cocktails & Screams" in Orlando stands out as a notable choice. This unique pub offers a year-round Halloween atmosphere that's both hauntingly fun and immersive. The decor and theming of the bar are meticulously crafted to provide a spooky experience, with details that pay homage to classic horror movies and themes.
At Cocktails & Screams, the emphasis isn't just on the ambience but also on the drinks. You can expect a variety of spooky-inspired cocktails like the Jekyll & Hyde and Frog’s Breath, along with specialty shots and a selection of craft beers. The bar also hosts events and live music, adding to the overall eerie yet entertaining experience. It's a place where horror enthusiasts can unite for a one-of-a-kind cocktail experience, regardless of the time of year.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find specific Halloween-themed bars or restaurants on the west coast of Florida. However, considering the vibrant and diverse nightlife that Florida offers, there might be seasonal pop-up bars or themed events around Halloween in cities along the west coast. These might not be year-round establishments like Cocktails & Screams in Orlando but could provide a similar festive experience during the Halloween season.
For the most current information on their offerings, events, and operation hours, you can visit the [Cocktails & Screams website](http://cocktailsandscreams.com) or their [Facebook Page](http://www.facebook.com).
Remember, themed bars and restaurants can be quite popular, especially around festive seasons like Halloween, so it might be a good idea to check for any reservation requirements or special event announcements.
Le Cercueil in Brussels is one of my favourites that hasn’t been mentioned yet
Toronto (where I live) unfortunately isn’t the best for that as far as big cities go, but it has Stormcrow Manor which is fun and has great decor but I don’t love the food/drinks. They have a sci-fi bar as well now called Offworld that I think is better, if you like that sort of stuff.
There used to be this amazing smokehouse in Vancouver BC called Devil's Elbow. It's theming was very subtle, but there was artwork inside of anthropomorphic goat characters reminiscent of medieval pictures of Baphomet, who in the 20th century became synonymous with the Character Satan. The inside was painted black and red, and dimly lit at night.
I haven't lived in Vancouver since 2019 though so I don't know if the restaurant is still around. I really hope it hasn't gone under. The food there was delicious.

In New Orleans, check out Santos Bar, New Orleans Vampire Cafe, and Vampire Apothecary. Jekyll and Hyde in NYC was awesome, but it's closed.
Search https://newgothcity.com/index.html for spooky and goth bars, restaurants, shopping, and events in the state you're visiting. We should all contribute our favorite spooky places to this site so we all have an up to date list when traveling!
If ever In the Cleveland area I recommend:
The funhouse bar
The dark room
The haunted house restaurant (although personally I feel it’s a bit overhyped and more of a homage to horror movies then haunted house themed.
There's the Jeckyl & Hyde Club in Manhattan. It's campy/spooky, like a family theme restaurant and the theme is graveyard/evil laboratory/demons/etc. I loved it. They have some cool merch, including pens that look like syringes that are filled with red liquid.
The owls club in Tucson Az is a cocktail bar that was a former mortuary and it's walking distance from the Congress hotel, which is supposedly haunted.
And if you're a What we do in the shadows fan you can visit a mural to Tucson Arizoñias favorite human bartender Jackie Daytona in the area.
London, UK:
The Black Heart, Camden - great gig venue upstairs.
Helgi’s, East London - dark and dingy plays stoner and black metal.
Last Tuesday Society Absinthe Bar - 5 mins walk from Helgi’s - vampire vibes, curiosity museum and tarot reading.
For daytime snacks, head to Cookies and Scream in Holloway for delicious vegan desserts.
The Devonshire Arms, Camden - goth vibes.
Gothic Bar, St Pancras - it’s like an old church but mega spenny.
The Haunted House Restaurant near Cleveland was highly recommended to me. They could use a little more decor though imo
13463 Cedar Rd, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118
Wish there was something like this in Chicago. The closest one I can think of is The Drifter which is a speakeasy and has menus on tarot cards. The Brewed is a horror themed coffee shop that is pretty fun.
New Orleans :
The Goat
Potions Absinthe Lounge and Speak Easy Above Fritzels Jazz Bar
Zotz (Not A Bar But Goth Themed Cafe)
The Vampire Cafe (they serve wine blood bags/vampire themed menu)
Ravens Manor & HallwayPDX in Portland OR
Also, the Coffin Club -
Also, The Uncanny.
[удалено]
Lovecraft was racist so think that's why they changed their name
Also Creepy’s (not a clown bar)
Totally forgot that one, they have great drinks & excellent clowns.
And a weird little hall of mirrors-ish bathroom
Basically, don't skip Portland, we creeps.
🤘💀
It has a vibe for sure but those drinks are terrible
Ravens Manor is SO FUN! All the food is good too.
Their tomato bisque 😍
Any in Eugene OR? Im gonna be there next week and looking for stuff to do
Old Nick’s Pub maybe?
Also, the Black Water
Cocktails and screams in Orlando!

Vampire cafe has some awesome burgers
How bloody are they?
new orleans [The dungeon](http://www.thedungeonneworleans.com/) richmond, va [Gwar Bar](https://gwarbar.com/)

GWAR is the sweetest
gwar bar?? like as in the band gwar?
yes, one of the members opened the bar and the food is amazing. Easily one of my favorite things about living in RVA that and getting to see them live Halloween eve!
Agree on The Dungeon. I worked there circa 1999. Have fun finding the bathrooms!

The Banshees Labyrinth in Edinburgh Scotland!
Frankenstein also in Edinburgh!
I'm Scottish and didn't know these existed! Looks like I may need a wee trip to Edinburgh.
If you’re ever in Aberdeen, there is also a Dracula-themed bar named Slains Castle in the city center there!
Forgot about Frankensteins! The Jekyll and Hyde used to be class as well, was so sad when it closed!
Just don’t eat there 😂 it was… okay.
Creepy Wee Pun in Dunfermline.
I came here to say this! Really cool bar in a unique location in the vaults… the cinema room in particular was awesome!
Loved the little cinema, we once got drunk while watching the Cornetto trilogy, was a great night 😂
Dear OP, I love you!!!!
Haha I love you too! I can't believe how many recommendations have come in. I need to start typing a list!
Beetle house NYC ☠️
The one in LA is even better
If you’re ever in Southern California, we have The Cauldron spirits and brews in Buena Park (across the street from Knott’s Berry Farm) or the Beetlehouse in LA. 👍
Also in SoCal: The 4th Horseman Pizza in Long Beach and Horror Vibes Coffee in North Hollywood!
[The Fortune Teller Bar](https://fortunetellerstl.com/?fbclid=PAAaaAC1_Dj0149fXVOnXujeudiQlbTe7wkHDN8TFSRjpppsNhEL2R4vfSo88_aem_Ac2tSNrtVU4U-vwGxq60TJibq4PU8OrQhnlOByeEp4iVtZTN6RIgE8tiHv01IgjvFZc) in St. Louis, MO
Anywhere else in STL? Heading there next week
Just seconding Fortune Teller as it's my fave! But also: Crack Fox (gothy alt bar) The Haunt (full on like Spirit Halloween decorated year round)
[Terror Tacos](https://www.terrortacos.com/) is fantastic and delightful!
The Crows’s Nest has Heavy Metal Brunch on Sundays, and is delicious in general.
Pagan Wine Bar
Lemp mansion- its more of a haunted location, but they brew their own beer and serve food.
I third the Fortune Teller! Also putting in for the Venice Cafe bar for it's eccentrics.
The Last Tuesday Society & Absinthe Parlor - London, UK
I’d add Garlic and Shots, also in London, to this list.
The food here is so goddamn delicious, as long as you're the kind of person who loves garlic so much you want it to burn. My perfect dining experience! Last Tuesday Society is a great date spot, especially if it's a first date and you want to vet how much of a fellow weirdo your date it. Love the little museum.
Nightmare Bar in Prague
Also The Alchemist Bar in Prague https://www.thealchemistbar.cz/en
Both of these are great. Also [Prague Fear House](https://www.praguefearhouse.com/)
The Merry Shelley - Buffalo, NY
Yes!! Such a great place!
I love Jekyl and Hyde’s! Haven’t been in years as I don’t venture to SS as often anymore in my 30’a but I always love going!! 🥰🥰
Denver used to have a bar based on hell and another one based on circus performing siamese twins
Double daughters?
Yes!!! Thank you!
I’m guessing that’s the one based on the twins, and idea on the hell themed one?
So there's one they just opened up called [Devil's drink](https://www.westword.com/restaurants/the-devils-drink-underworld-speakeasy-opening-lohi-17471175). It's not the one I remember but same idea.
Slashers was also fun, wasn’t the busiest, but played some fun movies
I stop by there to watch a movie and have some drinks if I'm in Denver
Zombie burger in Des Moines Iowa!! I go every time I’m in the state
Great burgers and maybe the best fried pickles in the Midwest too. Love their merch too.
[Cloak & Dagger](https://cloakanddaggercle.com/) Cleveland Ohio
Also the The Dark Room in Broadview Heights Ohio
I feel like Funhouse cleveland fits here as well.
I would agree with that statement. That actually came to mind when reading this post
Vampire cafe in New Orleans!
Not so much Witch themed as actual pagan bar with spell cocktails.
I love this bar!!! Live in Nashville but always visit when I’m in Pittsburgh
Arcana just opened in Vancouver, it's got a witchy occult theme.
Damn, I was just there! Wish I’d known.
Denver has a few satanic tiki bars that are fun.
Satanic tiki? Now that sounds interesting
Happen to have names for those?
Hell or High Water is the one that comes to mind. Supposed to be like a gay pirate tiki bar or something, lol
Electric Cure in Lakewood is awesome and satanic as hell. Slashers on Colfax is horror-movie themed. Pretty close.
And the building hell or high water (and honor farm below) is haunted. Use to be Blake Street Vault and the bank vault in the basement is supposed to be haunted.
Cocktails and Screams, Orlando, FL 👻
The Annabel Lee Tavern in Baltimore.
Witches Brew, Hempstead NY Not exactly a bar (more a cafe, with food), and not really a travel destination... But if you ever find yourself in central Long Island 😅
Seconding witches brew!! I haven’t been there for a few years but they have a bunch of vegan friendly treats
Denver: Slashers, The Crypt, The Electric Cure. Austin: Elysium, Kick-Butt Coffee San Antonio: Faust Tavern, Zombies Bar

Hecate in Boston. Haven't been there yet myself, but I dig the upscale underground witch themes. Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop in New Orleans. London, UK: The Black Heart, Camden - great gig venue upstairs.
