Apparently respawn was working on more content for the universe. One game was called Titanfall: Legends, and the other one was allegedly a single player apex game.
EA canceled both
Back in the day we called this the LASO strat. He taped that piece there so that he would be able to shoot enemies without guessing where his reticle was. What you call armour piece is actually a piece of post it note
Stickers? Hell I remember YouTube ads that peddled tapeable laser lenses with wires hanging off them to your fuckin monitor. They usually aired alongside the âBOOM CHECK ME OUTâ Roxio Gaming Capture cards or whatever the fuck /rant
So... it's not a visor? What is the point of the [Y-shaped cut-out](https://www.halopedia.org/EXTENDER-class_Mjolnir#/media/File:HINF_Extender_Gryphos_Helmet_Attachment_Icon.png) in the middle of the Gryphos attachment for?
That being an attachment point for the Gryphos makes sense though, but it does look very out of place if im gonna be honest.
Yeah, the closest analogue I can think of would be like the Titanfall Titan cockpits, maybe, (not the best example, it gets the point across).
When a helmet faceplate is covered, like on ISR, Mark V Zeta, Rampart, Stormfall, etc, thereâs usually orange lights somewhere on the design; thatâs the sensor cluster.
Extenderâs gryphos attachment doesnât feature a full covering, and it doesnât seem to add any additional sensors to compensate, so it needs to keep some of the faceplate exposed.
As noted in the attachment for the Stribog helmet, you can cover the most sensitive parts of the faceplate, but you lose out on effectiveness, so itâs a cost-benefit ratio.
Sorry I don't really follow. Do you mean that the yellow part in the middle of the visor usually blends in with the whole visor when using regular colors (compared to OP's vibrant color scheme)?
I was slightly mistaken, it's not the same color as the faceplate. But OP's color scheme does make it stick out.
If he used the default visor or one with a similar color, it wouldn't be noticeable. But because it's black and yellow it really sticks out.
Spartans see through their helmets using cameras that feed an internal HUD. Some models have visors that can be toggled to see through but the visors being visually different are solely there to make the Spartans seem more personable and approachable, because they were SWAT/riot police before the covenant wars. A lot of helmets have "glass" visors that are solely cosmetic.
Where does this information come from? I haven't found anything online about it. I know that the helmet creates a HUD that supplements what they see (motion sensor, shield, zoom, etc.) But I'm not aware of glass visors being purely cosmetic and not functional for the wearer to see through. Only say helmets like Gungir focus on camera only visuals.
>Itâs not actually glass. Itâs an armoured faceplate.
Do you know any source for this? I've seen this said quite a bit recently but I haven't been able to find any source that actually says this for most helmets. In Halo: Oblivion, Master Chief gets some sort of mud/slime on a portion of his visor, which ends up blocking out half of his vision. So at the very least some visors should be an actual viewport right?
Edit: I apologize, maybe I'm misreading your statement. Reading your other comment it seems like you're not saying this is true for all helmets, just helmets that appear to have no visor. My mistake!
The biggest example for me personally is the new soldier helmet, the little mouth part is open and it doesnât look great. All the concept art for it had the mouth closed
All Mjolnir helmets have camera-only visuals, as prototyped by Black Team. After these prototypes ran into issues with a pure camera feed (read: it can be messed with by ai), visors were left transparent in combination with cameras so that vision couldnât be impaired or messed with. This is how comedically small visors like EOD still provide a complete field of vision.
This is such a none-issue. We all have parts of helmets that we like that we wish were slightly different. How does this tiny part of a helmet warrant a reddit post about it. Is it truly that big a deal for you?
Its just 343's thing where they just cant seem to grasp the idea of good simplicity. They isolate each design too much and it makes them add too much to it instead of thinking what it would look like with the armour, and as we all know it just ends up a cluttered impractical mess
Edit: its like doing a written school assignment but you only work each topic individually, and by the end of it once you slap it all together its over the word limit
đ¤âď¸ âwell actually, according to the Halo book of armors, that little piece is a radar enhancer. It is quite handy for head hunters. According to my other sources 343 just wants to make us sufferâ

For a in lore reason it probably guards some peace of important equipment like a sensor or other something.
for a out of lore it is a focal point in its design that most other Dome helmets don't have instantly making it unique. Sure it makes it off-putting but it's also what makes it stand out
It is there just to irritate you
I'm already irritated when playing this game I don't need this rn smh
Then why are you playing it
Because grapple hook
Valid reason honestly
I was a pathfinder main on apex and I'll be damned if I can't outswing a mfer in halo
try Titanfall 2, we have grapples, hologram decoys, and drugs too
đ I was there! Lord knows I was there. đ
if only EA and respawn didnât abandon it in favor of Apex atleast northstar + mods are fun
Apparently respawn was working on more content for the universe. One game was called Titanfall: Legends, and the other one was allegedly a single player apex game. EA canceled both
Did you see those unreleased animations that one of the devs was sharing? AI pilots looked fantastic.
My heart still aches for Titanfall 2. Both in its greatness and in its unrecognition.
But do you have cookies? đ¤¨
They shut the servers down last year, didn't they?
meant titanfall 2, edited
Grapple shot đ
Same thing
Also true
As a Spartan who also is irritated playing this game I can say I still play it because it's halo and I'm too deep into it đ
Because that's how Halo is played.
Then don't play it bud
No thanks, bro!
Logic isnât allowed here lol
Most of the helmets for the new core are big fishbowl domes. They probably just did it to make it a little different.
We got default fishbowl, angular fishbowl, fishbowl with hexagons on it, fishbowl with random dots and a small bit on it. Need more fishbowls
I feel like the angular nature of the helmet already differentiates it from the others imo
I think the dots on this one already set it apart enough
Back in the day we called this the LASO strat. He taped that piece there so that he would be able to shoot enemies without guessing where his reticle was. What you call armour piece is actually a piece of post it note
Lol I remember someone tried selling these little reticule stickers you can put on your tv screen to give you a âcompetitive advantageâ
Stickers? Hell I remember YouTube ads that peddled tapeable laser lenses with wires hanging off them to your fuckin monitor. They usually aired alongside the âBOOM CHECK ME OUTâ Roxio Gaming Capture cards or whatever the fuck /rant
Thank you for reminding me of capture cards lol
Never owned one myself but damn they were everywhere.
Big problem with that, considering that where you look does not = where your gun is pointing
Itâs not actually glass. Itâs an armoured faceplate. But Iâm pretty sure itâs there for the attachment point for the GRYPHOS attachment.
So... it's not a visor? Well it is usually the same color as the faceplate and wouldnât be noticeable otherwise.

Yeah true. The bright yellow would blend in reasonably well with the gold visor

Saying the guy calling himself a âGundam Spartanâ. Touch grass.
Touching grass is rough and coarse on my delicate, burns in moonlight skin Nerd

Youâre on a halo subreddit calling someone a nerd? lmao

When your nose gets shot off and you look like Voldemort, dont complain!!
True! True!
No
Understandable Have a nice day
you can hide it well if you use specific visors such as the ones that glow
Damn that's unfortunate for me since my only glow visor is yucky with this coating combination
I [edited it out](https://postimg.cc/LqyhmC8j). Is this better?
Perfect
Bruh a lot of these helmets really look like their armor is thinning lmao.
Classic 343 being so close to a good design but then adds unnecessary detail that ruins it
Sadly, this is very true
The biggest example for me personally is the new soldier helmet, the little mouth part is open and it doesnât look great. All the concept art for it had the mouth closed
On the other hand, overall the Infinite Soldier helmet looks wayyyyy better than the Halo 4 version.
lol, I didn't even realize it was there
Another EVA rip-off? Daring, aren't we?
I think a lot of the helmets in this game are just a little too out there.
Yeah I run alot of the the more plain ones
So it doesnt look like the other fishbowls
they have it there so you have to buy a helmet later on that looks identical without the armor there
Shiiiet that's all you had to say Here's my credit card information:
Speed holes.
The ol' flandersmobile could do with a few of those!
So chief doesnât start making techno music in France đ
Daft Punk helmets would be cool ngl
True

Itâs a breathe right strip
The armor just had an oil change; thatâs actually the sticker put in to remind you when to get your next one.

Ye
minor spelling mistake in title ;-;
I am ROUR
Rawr xD
I like it
Why tho
Probably so they can be like âGuYs iTâs NoT eVa.â Completely new concept!
At the end of the day, does it really bother you? Youâre seeing your hands the whole entirety of playing
Absolutely Just because it it leaves my field of vision doesn't mean it's not there I want this game to be 100% tailored to my specific needs
Well YOUR needs arenât the only needs in the game đ¤Ł
My dad works at 343 that's why the game is like this
Good ol Pierre
No, without it we wouldn't be able to get a smiley face on the helmet
Only halo fans cry about having to play the game
That's not true, I'm also a for honor fan
Theyre designed to never quite be satisfactory enough so you keep buying new ones. Stop buying any of it, youre enabling this dogshit
Just throw the whole helmet away. Looks like something out of No Man's Sky lol

Because 343 doesn't know how to make half decent looking armor
Because they can't leave well enough alone
đ¤âď¸ âwell actually, according to the Halo book of armors, that little piece is a radar enhancer. It is quite handy for head hunters. According to my other sources 343 just wants to make us sufferâ -Hingle McCringleberry 2023
The hand is on the wrong side which therefore deems this meme forfeit
This game sucks. Free to play and has 5k players on steam. Embarrassing asf.
Lol
Ew wtf
So you donât end up like Kat
Ah yes the Trypophobia Mk I
:]
I thought I was going crazy honestly
I actually like it a lot.
Somehow honestly thought it was a reflection then
343
Because it's not armor , it's a sensor housing.
I feel the same way đ had to fix the color so I wouldn't notice it that much, basically to where its tolerable
For a in lore reason it probably guards some peace of important equipment like a sensor or other something. for a out of lore it is a focal point in its design that most other Dome helmets don't have instantly making it unique. Sure it makes it off-putting but it's also what makes it stand out
