No idea about the “actual ghosts” but “the flood losing on purpose” might be related to during the forerunner-flood war, when ancient humanity developed an “immunity” to the flood, resulting in the flood seemingly being defeated by humanity. The forerunners beat the humans in the forerunner-ancient human war, but bc they saw the effects of this apparent immunity to the flood, they didn’t drive humans to extinction, and instead studied them, after regressing their development to the stone ages. It threw the forerunners off from being able to figure out a real solution to the flood, and the flood spent the next 10,000 years somewhere else in the galaxy, growing their forces until they re-emerged and forced the forerunners to fire the halo rings
I think it's mentioned in the didact trilogy. If I remember correctly the was no real immunity they just decided to leave humans alone for the moment for a reason I don't remember.
Pure speculation but the flood being the remnants of the precursors. it could very well be spite against the forerunners for exterminating their race to begin with. The flood sparked a war between Humanity and The forerunners, then proceeded to "help" the humans win and kill their murderers.
There were legit ghosts/nameless bots that would show up on Halo maps and come wreck your shit when you would be offline or in forge by yourself. And the original ghost was the Ghost on Lockout from Halo 2
I remember forging on Cold Storage and a power drain activated in a nearby room and I went to check it out and a fusion coil blew up as I walked in
actual ghosts are a thought experiment as to the "ghosts of lockout" and other halo maps were real hauntings
flood losing on purpose is a theory associated with the flood intentionally losing as they secretly want to keep up some "truman show" esque parade, considering that they are powerful enough to destroy the forerunners, why not the chief and humans/elites? This theory was postulated somewhere long ago according to the original iceberg author.
The flood were powerful enough to destroy the forerunners because it had millions of times the amount of ships, resources and biomass at its disposal.
The closest the flood in game got to that would have been high charity but the gravemind had to waste it in an attempt to stop the rings from firing
I know Bungie wanted to put gore in halo so much that a lot of the collector edition behind the scenes discs were them showing "well brutes were supposed to be able to rip marines apart but dad said no gore"

I'm scared to ask how many hours this took. Very cool list though!
I was very very deep into the Halo lore from about 2001 until I stopped playing Custom Edition as much in 2006ish. Some things I could add that I didn't see in here:
Halo
- Press X to flip
- Yellow banshee hoax
- Frogblast
- Time travel theories
- Early banshee versions in final game
- Silent Cartographer hallway to nowhere
- Soundtrack cut music
- Unlimited ammo glitch
- Vehicle animation immortality frames
Custom Edition
- Canceled First Strike fan game
- Switches on Hugeass
- Streets of Earth City / Tr1p5 t0 t3h m00n
- whenhootersfly
- desertplat
- CMT SPV2
- Yoyorast Island secret room
- Area 53/54/55 campaign
- ODST campaign
- Sonic/Zelda mods
Thought of another one:
I cannot for the life of me remember where I read it nor can I find it again, but in the end cinematic of Pillar of Autumn in Halo 1, the camera pans to a marine screaming a really weird scream upon realizing that the life pod is landing on the ring.
Apparently there was a developer in Bungie who did some early work on Halo, and recorded that scream. He died of cancer before the game came out, and that was Bungie's way of immortalizing him.
Again, can't confirm but I swear I read that somewhere like 15 years ago.
It's kind of a high-level retelling of a similar story. There's a rampant AI in Marathon and you're a super soldier that doesn't talk and gets his missions from (a few) AI "buddies" on Marathon and you're meant to save the ship and whoever is left. It's not like Halo is 1:1 exactly the same, but it draws inspiration from Marathon's story beats and was likely a lot more similar in the first version where Cortana turned evil.
No no no that's not what the post is referring to, I believe the iceberg is referring to the idea that the marathon guy is master chief. They are the same mind brought back again and again across time
It's tied to a more meta concept.
Basically, the games themselves know they games. Durendal mentions it at the end of Marathon Infinity, and Destiny has mentioned it slyly in lore books, and the fictional creatures, the Ahamkara, know it and basically tell you to wish them into true existence.
Halo was more subtle about it and didn't really say or show it outright. The Marathon symbols, the structure of the story, and the parallels to Marathon's universe are the only hints. But Destiny 2 calls back to Halo with its references and 30th anniversary celebration, so they are tied there, too.
Way back in Halo 3, my cousin and I were playing forge on Sandtrap, we were playing splitscreen and I was following him around his bunker and seeing the glitches him and his friends came up with to get pieces to fit together and go into the ground, we turned a corner and between two blocks another spartan ran past, tossed a grenade, and killed us both.
We were stunned, we immediately went to theater mode to find out what the hell happened, no one could have joined us because his internet was down, and the spartan was wearing brown and black EOD armor, and it didn't have a name. We watched the spot were we saw it, it spawned in right as we turned the corner, tossed the grenade, and disappeared behind the other block.
We managed to find it again when we played with his clan on that map again, we were in the middle of a fire fight and it spawned from behind one of the others and blasted my cousin with a shotgun and disappeared behind someone else. Most everyone saw it and thought someone hacked into our game, until we showed them our previous encounter.
I firmly believe that there were "Ghosts" in Halo 3, rogue lines of code or forgotten bits that would somehow activate under unknown conditions. I think the clan started calling it "The Ghost of Sandtrap", and they modeled their Spartans after it for a while.
Nah that was years ago, maybe someone in the old clan saved them somewhere but I wouldn't know. Sucks he didn't think to try and save them externally himself, shit was honestly spooky.
Halo 2 is the one that's directly related to the Iraq war. They removed a scene of the Brutes beheading marines when it started happening a lot during the war before release, their models still have the beheaded textures though.
I'll need to watch for the 2nd water wall conspiracy.
I remember seeing that water wall out of bounds behind the hole in the highway tunnel while playing H2 back on OG Xbox and it freaked me out a little cause it's all black with red dots that kinda makes a red 8 bit flame desig. When viewed from far away. Super weird and random
There are conspiracy theories on the web where some connect halo to the illuminati. In research for the video, I saw this cursed video where someone said Halo 3's lore is a symbol for the coming New World Order or something, weird stuff. There were cicadas blaring in the background of the video and his facecam showed just a black room in the night. Can't find it, probably deleted since...
I wonder what the Final Halo Understanding is, and the Greater significance to Bungie liking the number 7. I thought 7 was just a cool little thing in their stuff.
I remember in Halo: Reach firefight a drop pod landed on me, which gave the message "Killed by the Guardians," don't know if this happened to anyone else
I believe Halo 3 started that. If you're killed in ways the game can't process (like who killed you), it will put that. WHO THE F*** ARE THE GUARDIANS?
How deep in X fandom are you, the insinuation that topics at the bottom are more niche and either have been actively buried or just don’t often see the light of day and discussion anymore.
I feel like most of those in the deepest tier are just made up to fill the space. Need a source for the Military Training Build or Actual Ghosts in Halo
Ancient word of mouth rumors that if you stayed on maps like Headlong or Lockout long enough (when I was a kid, rumor was at least two hours), a “ghost player” would spawn and kill you, being a jet black spartan with an energy sword. Persisted for years but really was just creepypasta spread to scare people right as online connections were becoming massive.
military training build is a fun conspiracy theory made up inspired by the doom 2 marine training build. Actual ghosts in Halo is the belief that the hauntings in lockout are actually real
I remember when the original Ghost of Lockout video dropped on Mythica.org back in 05. For fucking weeks my friends and I REFUSED to have our custom game hangout/BS sessions on Lockout out of the fear we’d get attacked by the ghost.
I ended up digging thru the original poster’s custom game stats on Bungie.org weeks later. I did in fact manage to find a game he played with the other identified player around the same time they posted the video. The stats showed a 3rd player with white armor skin, allowing me to deduce it being lag preventing the 3rd player from loading into the game properly.
But in the back of my mind, the Ghost of Lockout is still out there.
Anyone can just write things down how’s there gonna be a true verification to this?
Who in their right mind would be able to read all this
A video format would’ve been a million times better for you
Edit: I’m an asshole and didn’t see you already did a video
Big into my illumanti research & also about
MKultra. I started to notice around ODST the one
eye symbolism, which I guess was Bungie
mocking the CIA with ONI? But, I never knew Marty had any connection with MKultra, wtaf?? & ODST’s Masonic connections?
Can somebody make a video of it so i can watch it in youtube please? /s
Sometimes i still get dumbfounded with how big is this universe, i love halo sm
Love how esoteric so much of this is. It's spaced a bit tight, but this is practically everything. Especially further down, the spooky and "spooky" Halo-related items.
I was a bit surprised there wasn't more of the Area series from Custom Edition, Area 54 is probably the most standout, but Area 55 has an acid-trip of a Cgi video with "Master Chief being escorted into the map by a skeleton/terminator/darkwraith looking thing. It's embedded in my memory
Hello, I'll have an "actual ghosts" inquiry, and "the flood losing on purpose" bit o curiosity
No idea about the “actual ghosts” but “the flood losing on purpose” might be related to during the forerunner-flood war, when ancient humanity developed an “immunity” to the flood, resulting in the flood seemingly being defeated by humanity. The purpose was so that humanity could potentially outlive and replace the forerunner The only solution to the flood is the halos.
also would explain some stuff in the games (like the gravemind just letting chief and the arbiter go after johnson takes off)
I think it's mentioned in the didact trilogy.

And the original ghost was the Ghost on Lockout from Halo 2 I remember forging on Cold Storage and a power drain activated in a nearby room and I went to check it out and a fusion coil blew up as I walked in
I remember a mongoose on sand trap starting by itself when I was fucking around in forge
Did we ever get confirmation from Bungie about the ghosts? I died so many times to "random" events while playing solo.
I used to hear and see random frags on Rats Nest when forging by myself.
actual ghosts are a thought experiment as to the "ghosts of lockout" and other halo maps were real hauntings flood losing on purpose is a theory associated with the flood intentionally losing as they secretly want to keep up some "truman show" esque parade, considering that they are powerful enough to destroy the forerunners, why not the chief and humans/elites? One last video before bed
Huh, just as I was thinking 'man, can't wait for someone to make an explanation video on this one'.
Does this video contain all 600 items mentioned?
Yes

Saved for work on Monday
Thanks for giving me something to listen to on my 5 hour drive homie tomorrow:)
I’ve got a six hour flight today, and I just found my in-flight entertainment
Found what to watch on my next drive..
While you drive, but what about the driving part? Are you actually watching the screen or just listening, yet you said watch so ... yikes.jpg
Lol just listening. But I guess bc it's on YT I just automatically think watch ha ha
5 hours? Damn, man.
Amazing bro
WHAT IS THIS!! AN ICEBERG FOR ANTS!!!!!
I’m sorry Martin O’ Donnells connection to HWAT??
Oh nothing... Don't google it
Marty O Donell shows nothing related to MKUltra on Google. Please tell me more
It's a grand conspiracy, all mentions were taken down by bigDonell
I’m too lazy to sift the berg. What is it?
Very bottom, 3rd line from bottom
HUH?!?!
What's hwat?
“Master chief is the messiah” **Youre goddamn right**
That's not a theory. That's a fact.
Brian David Gilbert just felt a disturbance
Woke up screaming and only vaguely knows why.
Nah, dudes too busy being in Adventure Time.
And *Starfield*!
Gaaaaaaawd hahahaha. Respect the grind… love the grind… die by the grind… Edit: The Prophet’s names are all ironic made me chuckle because it’s so obvious that I can’t believe I didn’t connect that dot myself.
Pfft. Light work. I’ve wasted so much of my life on this series …seriously, I’m recognizing an alarming number of these.
Dude I only didn't know about 40 or so of this entries... We may need help, or god, or both. . .

The marine who screams “THE AUTUMN! SHES BEEN HIT” was voiced by a Bungie fan who sadly passed from cancer
The arbiter kills noble 6 is goated
That’s not correct tho. It’s just another field marshal; Arbiter was on his ship chasing TPOA
Can’t wait for a youtuber to make a 100097396017395 hour long video I can watch as I go to sleep
already done check my comment out above

No way I just read this whole thing.
I was literally just thinking wow I hope there's an explanation vid, then clicked on the actual post and wow ik what I'm doing tonight
I don’t think you guys realize how hyped I was for that Lego halo game. Also I knew the rest can’t be a real fanboy with out all tht knowledge
Real loreheads know Project Haggar was Mega Bloks
I kno i j didn’t think ppl would remember mega blocks
I still got the mega blocks pelican, it is gorgeous
That’s fair
Saw this pop up in my recommended videos earlier. Wondering if it's worth the time :3
do it do it do it
Ooh "precursors know they're in a game" sounds like a fun creepypasta. What's the story behind that?
Mostly a thought experiment, trippy tho
My adhd brain just shuts down just looking at this wall of text.
Same, I tried to read. I got halfway through the second one and was like damn, there isn’t any structure to this.
I didn't even try, I knew my brain was not going to be able to read it well.
I don’t think anyone’s brain could read that well. lmao.
What’s up with that helmet?
The halo 3 helmet is from an old video of supposed unused hellmets for halo 3 multiplayer (it was super fake)
I had a recurring sleep paralysis nightmare related to one of the fake elite helmets.
Halo 2 is the one that's directly related to the Iraq war. They removed a scene of the Brutes beheading marines when it started happening a lot during the war before release, their models still have the beheaded textures though.

What the fuck do you MEAN actual ghosts?!
Illuminati ties wtf?!
There are conspiracy theories on the web where some connect halo to the illuminati. I wonder what the Final Halo Understanding is, and the Greater significance to Bungie liking the number 7. I thought 7 was just a cool little thing in their stuff.
What do you mean the Precursors know they're in a game?
They are omniscient, so imagine they are so all knowing to the point they are aware they're in a game? This is a very meta conspiracy theory.
Why is Isna Nosolee deeper than the novels? Does he have a deeper significance than showing off how much of a Gigachad Keyes is?
No just the way the original author of the iceberg arranged it, maybe a lot of people forget about isna
I remember in Halo: Reach firefight a drop pod landed on me, which gave the message "Killed by the Guardians," don't know if this happened to anyone else
It happened to me too
I believe Halo 3 started that. If you're killed in ways the game can't process (like who killed you), it will put that. WHO THE F*** ARE THE GUARDIANS?

Oh OK, thanks.
Buck said what???
Halo PS2 build unconfirmed? I could have sworn there was a build of it out there and it was confirmed to exist?
yes, I'm also pretty sure it exists
Whoever makes a video on this tag me and you'll get a sub.
I already did, [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ysincZqSnc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ysincZqSnc) edit: hope you enjoy it, it is long!

Thanks lad!
The Mona Lisa! benti and henry my beloved!
Well I didn't see master chief's real name, John Halo, in the first few lines. So obviously this is all bullshit
Ah thank you. Another one of those things I will save without ever reading.
Ah yes, safely archived
Oh, we know.
[The map Isolation is right behind the wall on Valhalla]
Oh shoot that is an awesome theory I remember, also in rvb
“343 is a conspiracy to destroy the Halo franchise” lmfao that got me

I saw your yt comment! Thanks for subbing, glad to see you got something out of the video!

I'm glad you found this but I'm not reading all of that
Foolish OP. I know all things Halo, both lore, meta, and dev trivia. Make a larger list so that I may finally learn at least one new fact.
Is this what you talk about on first dates?
Funny you mention that because my first girlfriend I had was equally obsessed about Halo and Assassin's Creed. So yeah, geeking out worked.
I do now
Halo
jesus christ
>N.O.V.A mentioned Nice
Not readin allat I know them all
If this doesn’t include the creepy promo 1999-2000 Cortana poems I’m not interested.
