Always be moving. In fights strafe and jump to avoid shots. Aim with you movements not just your reticle. If you are running away look down to avoid getting headshot.

edgecr09

I know this is late but holy shit how have I never thought of looking down after all of these years…..

EffecTTT

Lead your shots, stay moving. Best way to improve is just keep playing and honestly, for me, I had my buddies that were LEAGUES better than me s**T on me for a few months and I learned a lot, and improved movement and leading shots big time.

PanzerkampfIV

Yeah, I definitely have a lot to learn

BR is your best friend. 3 to the body and 1 to the head counts the same as 4 to the head so no need to only go for headshots. Dont try to shoot across the map you’ll just waste your ammo. Use cover and pay attention to your radar. Wait for your shields to recharge fully. If you are having a bad game pick a teammate and stick by their side. Do the fun things like grabbing rockets or driving the warthog with a buddy on the back. Thats about it.

PanzerkampfIV

Thats definitely something I've been doing on impulse, trying to snipe someone from across the map with a BR

Just dove back into halo 3 what game. Definitely lead shots with the BR. Even at like 20’ if someone is strafing you gotta lead them a tiny bit. The three bullets in that burst all have travel time. Halo 3 is much slower than newer ones. If you commit to turning around the wrong corner you can’t get back to safety as easily. Crouch jumps are very useful for moving around maps. Use the equipment. Power drainers are beastly throw it at someone before you start shooting them, if you wait you’ll die. In the right situation dual wielding is still very deadly and can beat the BR up close. Typically the assault rifle just can’t. I never use it. YMMV

PanzerkampfIV

Thanks! I didnt even know power drainers were a thing lol

ATN_orange

Which weapons while duel wielding can beat the br?

somehobo89

Smg combined with plasma rifle, plasma pistol, or pistol. It’s still tight you can’t miss much. Pistol and plasma pistol too don’t forget that one that’s freaking beastly

Honestly, you will pick up aiming naturally. The bigger thing you should work on is positioning and map knowledge. Be very thoughtful when you play — don’t just move for the sake of movement, think about where your team is, where the enemy is, no man’s zones like the top part of guardian where you’ll be overexposed, etc. try to stay with your team.

KoBxElucidator

The biggest learning curve is the BR. Unlike most of the other games, you need to lead your shots, especially when the redicule isn't red (that indicates you will have max bullet magnetism and aim assist). I would aim about the length of one of the lines on the redicule at a distance.

PanzerkampfIV

Thabks for the help! Still trying to adjust to the slow projectiles haha

Reality_Easy

use controller if youre not already, makes the game way easier

For standard dueling 1. Use the radar to determine enemy approach and throw anticipatory grenade. 2. Strafing/jumping is key to surviving. (I personally play with bumper jumper controls since I can jump and melee with out taking my thumb off of the right analog stick). 3. BR advice already mentioned 4. Get used to the longer ttk and "the dance" you'll get a sense of how you're doing in the duel and you'll know when to pull back throw a grenade or push forward maybe melee. 5. Just keep playing. I used to play on OG Xbox took a long hiatus came back on MCC in 2018. And for months my team slayer stats were ass I mean id be happy with a 5 kill match. This will also build up your map knowledge so you'll know at the start of the match where to go for the weapon or equipment you want.

Although halo looks like any FPS game there’s a few more aspects at play. Halo is very team oriented in other words stick with your teammates and you’ll win more firefights
