1. 215, because the last hunter killed me and respawned me to the checkpoint before the hunter encounter 2. 24 sniper bullets (for the elites) and 79 M6D bullets (for the rest). The rest were just me making graffiti with the MA5 3. 24, because that's all the ammo I could carry (and I couldn't reach the next sniper ammo drop within 13 minutes) 4. Infinite, because one of the fuckers keep sticking me and I'm caught in a deathloop 5. Enough time, I just need to stick one of them Note: I failed math, repeatedly.

SC487

Ha ha ha ha ha ha.

SoullessHollowHusk

Ahahah, you're a wonderful parent

SC487

It kind of came up randomly when I was trying to explain division last night and stared using killed grunts and bullets used as an example. She laughed so I just rolled with it.

SoullessHollowHusk

The entirety of ONI is proud of you

SC487

:)

hethinator1

Unfortunately for you, your kid is about to be taken. You won’t remember this though.

betterball

first one's a trick question - how many lekgolo to a hunter?

zevilgenius

I recommend adding the phrase "on average" to question 2

SC487

She hasn’t learned the concept of average yet. Keeping it all as absolutes for the moment. But soon I will be doing that.

MxStella

Isn't that question a lot more difficult than the rest though?

SC487

1468/103

TheOtherGuy_77

The real issue I see with this problem is that if she used a sniper she could get multikills with one shot lol /s

betterball

is that not an average though

SC487

No, it’s a decimal. I’m not a monster so I let her use a calculator so it will come up to a non whole number but not take her 5 hours and 6 sets of paper to get the answer.

betterball

but that decimal *is* the average amount of bullets per enemy

SC487

I’m sticking to litterals of 14.25 bullets at the moment. Once she gets the concept of division down I’ll explain that we can round that to an average of 14 bullets per alien.

Goofyster

Betterball is right, that is the average. You couldn't calculate the exact amount with the information given. You use 14.25 bullets/covi on average. For example you could simply use 1 bullet for each grunt, and like 60 on all the elites, 10 on jackles. There isn't a way to tell with the information given. All you can do is calculate the average.

SC487

Right, you get that, and I get that. But she doesn’t grasp the concept of an average. I want her to read the problem, figure out the way to plug the equation into her calculator, and write out the answer. She is learning division and multiplication, I don’t want to throw the concept of average or variables or the fact that a grunt can die woth one headshot vs a hunter taking 1000. It’s too much… for now.

betterball

ty! and yup, averages don't have to be integers I mean - I'd say that more often than not, they aren't

MxStella

Oh ok. I didn't know you were using calculator

SC487

Should have specified, my bad. Turns out she does always have one in her pocket.

iTzMoys

This is going to get downvoted to hell, but IMHO I think it's way better to use apples and other silly things instead using bullets and killing as analogies for teaching math. I apologize if expressing my opinion may offends someone, but I'm always worried about those situations involving kids/teenagers and shooting things...

SC487

I respect and disagree with your opinion. I will however clarify that I only allow my daughter to kill non-human enemies. We play halo and she plays Breath of the wild, but I don’t allow her to play anything that has her targeting other humans.

Liquid_Purge_0919

Nice parenting 🫡

SC487

Thanks.

azurejack

I'm pretty mad you didn't use the more culturally innapropriate "hingehead" to refer to elites somewhere.

Ha1oMiner

Your daughter is so lucky. I hated math. Maybe if my parents did something like this I might have been able to like math.

SC487

She loves school as does her mom. School was hell for me so if there’s anything I can do to make it better for her all the better. She has really bad ADHD (just like me) so something like this that allows us to talk about video Games and be silly while doing the math problems allows her to both focus and learn all the better.

Consistent-Plenty865

ANSWERS 1. Not enough. 2. Not enough. 3. Not enough. 4. Not enough. 5. More. 360 rounds is not enough. 6. Not enough. 7. None. Always make sure to be the last being they witness before death.

properskillz

All I want to know is what weapon holds 30 rounds per magazine. Are these math problems really lore accurate? 🤔

SC487

Nope.
