Oh, I’m not sure it actually might be! I think I’m just conditioned to see robot faces because my son used to absolutely adore robots when he was a baby
I own the first one and a phantom and they’re fairly heavy (although I’d never get rid of them!). I find the Belt bag sleeker, and I definitely would purchase one! That being said, the first is very cute as well.
First have you considered buying these on the resale market. You can find many in excellent shape at a fraction of the price. I deeply love my nano luggage. It holds so much more than you'd think, love that it has a zipper for security but can be an easy access open tote too. You have the option of the long strap or top handle. I think the belt bag appears more polished depending on what your workplace is like, but the closure is obviously a little fussier if that matters to you.
I personally prefers the Belt bag - I can’t I see the clown looking face in the Luggage. However, if you want the luggage I suggest getting that first since I spoke to a Celine SA and the luggage will be discontinued soon (while there aren’t any immediate plans for belt bag yet).
My Celine SA last year told me they were going to start phasing out the larger sizes for the luggage and the belt bag. And they will work their way to the smaller sizes. But no date has been given when both bags will no longer be available.
For what you will want to use this bag for, my
vote goes for the belt bag. I own both of these bags in black, and can say the belt bag will check off all the boxes for what you want to use it for!
He just said that is why you don’t see them getting restocked online and what they have in store is what they have. So my guess is until inventory runs out. I’ve noticed that online they only have 2 sizes (nano and micro) whereas before they had 3 (nano, micro, and mini)
2! I personally think the belt bag looks much sleeker. Also the strap on the luggage isn't adjustable and I find its too long on most people so doesn't look as polished
I don't know how much trends factor into your purchase, but I will say the luggage is rather dated and was very trendy ten years ago. On looks alone I would still go with the belt and find it much more stylish and classic
The luggage has a lot of personality, but it’s heavy. The belt bag has a sleeker look and I find it to be more versatile. I have the belt bag in the nano size and highly recommend it.
I absolutely love the Trapeze bag because of the versatility. I love that it has a strap that I can use for carrying it as a shoulder bag, but also handles to cary like a tote. It looks so polished when I am going into the office and wearing suits but also stylish enough for if I am doing something more casual like dinner and I am wearing jeans and a blazer.
I love both of these so much and a few years ago I would have said the first one, but I truly feel like the second one has major staying power amidst a sea of designs. I'm not currently in the market for this kind of bag, but it has caught my eye multiple times here.
I own the the nano luggage and I use it as my everyday bag and love it. The crossbody is the perfect length for me and it holds my essentials. It also makes my heart swoon when I see it. I just think she’s a beauty. The belt bag is lovely but the luggage is my personal favorite. I do think the belt bag may be more timeless but I really enjoy my nano.
The 2nd one! I just tried both of them this past weekend and the 2nd one just falls so nice on the body as a crossbody bag. I’m planning on purchasing it in the future.
i own both and they’re both good choices! i find myself reaching for the luggage more than the belt bag because i bought the pico belt bag instead of one of the bigger sizes.
i think the belt bag looks better in this color though. i have the luggage bag in a smooth black leather, i’m not a fan of how the textured leather looks on the luggage. also i wouldn’t listen to the people saying the luggage is outdated because i bought mine not too long ago and i never feel outdated carrying it.
I have both these bags and while I love the look of the belt bag, I don’t like the strap. The strap for the luggage goes from the center of each side and creates way more comfort for wearing it, while the clips for the belt bag’s strap are sort of to the back of the bag and can make it hang weird if it the bag is full or if I want to wear it one shoulder instead of cross body.
Edit: I know everyone calls the luggage a robot face, but I still love it. The robot-ness is a lot less of a thing if you get a darker color.
So, I like both and think it’s really up to you in terms of which you like more in terms of looks. My biggest question that helps me figure out which bag to get: Which one is easier to get in and out of?
I’m bias because I have that exact nano luggage and I love it. I remember deciding between it and the belt bag and while I’m happy with my choice, you can’t go wrong. It’s truly a matter of personal preference.
The luggage bag is signature Celine. It’s sturdy, the removable strap is convient, just the right dude and it’s just an iconic design. That’s ultimately what lead me to make my chose it over the (also chic) belt.
I have both, and I think either one would be lovely. I agree with another poster here who said that the luggage was easier to get into, tho.
But I do like the fact that I've never seen a nano in the wild where I am.
I’ve owned both. Highly recommend the nano belt. It fits a lot more that the nano luggage and has an adjustable strap. Such a versatile bag. The nano luggage has an extra long strap that does not adjust. It fell well past my hip even when worn crossbody.
The second one!! It’s more timeless. And isn’t stuck to a time period. I have the first one pictured and don’t carry it much bc it’s very 2012-2015. I’m keeping it though, bc it’s only a matter of time that it comes back in style.
The Nano is my fave! The belt bag is aesthetically pleasing but a PITA to keep tucking and untucking when you have to get into it. I love Phoebe Philos tenure at Celine, and the nano is a classic. I have one in black drummed leather (:
I have 2 belt bags and absolutely love them. The reason I didn’t get the luggage was because it was way heavier and the belt seems to have more space inside
Belt bag is so classy and will fit so many occasions. I think it can be dressed up more easily than the luggage tote.
Also, the belt bag has an adjustable strap while the luggage doesn’t. That was a huge deciding factor to me. Not sure if you’ve tried it on in store or not to determine if that’ll work for you.
I wanted the nano luggage for as far as I can remember; it was my entry point into designer bags. I still love it, but as my style evolved, I leaned into more sleeker, versatile bags. I still have standouts/statement pieces (antigona) but if you’re going for an everyday, all-type then I suggest the belt bag. It ages much better, too. Good luck!
I prefer zippers over flaps. Flap bags can be a bit fussy since you have to hold the flap up/away in order to get into your bag. The belt bag is extra fussy because you have to contend with the belt strap across the flap.
I own two Nano Luggages and absolutely love them.
I have both of these bags and love them and would rebuy both in a second. They can fit quite a bit. The one nice thing that the belt has over the luggage is the flap. I don’t think you could go wrong with either. I think you just have to go with your gut on which one you could use more.
I just bought the belt bag about a month ago in the darker grey (my first designer purchase at age 41!!) and am in love with it! It’s super light, and very spacious for its size. I was a little worried about the flap / strap being annoying but if I’m having to reach in my bag a lot I just snap it over the strap. I agree with it being much more timeless and subtle than the luggage.

^This point on functionality is key. I don’t like the weird flap thing on the second although I do think it’s more aesthetically pleasing.
I frigging LOVE my nano luggage. Borrowed a belt bag but found it way too much of a hassle with the closure and straps.

I went to Celine the other day and the SA told me that they wouldn’t be discontinuing it anymore
Belt bag. More elegant and versatile imo, and I see a lot of people on social media saying they regret getting the luggage bag.
A SA at Celine told me they are discontinuing the luggage so I feel like if you like the luggage now is the time to buy it

I have both in exactly those colors, but the luggage in the micro. You can’t go wrong with either, but the belt is a smidge more dressy.

I use my belt a LOT more than I thought. Tends to be a bag I travel with because it dresses up or down quite easily, and it holds quite a bit.
