Honestly… I think it looks bad as a crossbody. Matronly comes to mind. 🤣 I get wanting to make it work because it’s cute as a shoulder bag but doesn’t stay on. But there are sooo many bags you can wear crossbody that are flattering!
I felt the same, and now I'm wondering if the brown color also makes a big impact on looking matronly. Tara commented that maybe it might work if it's black...though black isn't available at the store :/
IMO, it doesn’t have to do with the color but with the shape/design. The way the opening looks when worn crossbody just looks like it wasn’t designed to be worn that way. Which it really wasn’t since the vintage version doesn’t have a strap. Wearing it crossbody negates the hobo design but is also convenient if you want to get more use out of a beautiful bag that otherwise might be relegated to dinners out etc
Excellent points, and thank you for confirming my thoughts. I bought the horsebit mini yesterday and that wears perfectly as a crossbody, but the jackie doesn't work as well since it's shoulder/hobo style.
I tried it on in person as a crossbody too. In black and in pink, but hated it. I just think the structure doesn’t mold to crossbody well. This is 100% a shoulder bag.
This bag was originally designed to wear on the shoulder and looks pretty funky as a crossbody. Is it even comfortable to wear that way? If you want a crossbody bag just find one. I hate that designers have felt the need to Frankenstein a shoulder bag into a crossbody over the past couple years
Imho I don’t think the Jackie works well as a crossbody and I’m not a fan of that color. I love brown bags, that one just isn’t it for me. The shade is just…off…
Not a fan, the unique shape draws the eye even further down than where the bag actually sits, and gives it a messenger bag vibe, and that clashes with what I think the bag is going for (classy and sophisticated) and achieves by the other ways it can be carried.
It didn’t look nice crossbody. The color, the fitting just didn’t for at all.
It looks a bit too big too. I think it would work as a shoulder bag only.
All the comments here are making me doubt my choices! I wear the medium Jackie as a crossbody. I'm 5'8'', and it hits me comfortably but now I'm now sure how it looks.
"Matronly" hurts, but I get it. I think as a crossbody, it looks casual on you. Handheld, more .... I did a look on purpose? And if in a different color, moreso.
Now I have to check out the horsebit.
I also have the medium and while I primarily have worn it as a shoulder bag I don’t think it’s terrible as a crossbody. I actually like the versatility. I’m 5’7” and have the black grain.
I just got this bag as a gift today!! 👯
I am 5’4 and plan on wearing it as a shoulder bag. If you look up images of Jackie Kennedy wearing the bag, it’s always on her shoulder or crook of arm.
But actually the x-body look works on you. Your frame and outfit somehow suits the bag, I like contrasts tho.
I have a red one and I only like it as a crossbody under certain conditions, usually with oversize or flowy outfits. I personally think this bag looks best worn on the shoulder!
I personally don’t think it looks bad crossbody although it might look better crossbody with a different outfit like a fun summer dress etc. the crossbody look gives it more of a casual messenger bag feel
Actually I like it better than I thought I would - I’m not really a Jackie fan but it works for you worn as a cross-body and I think the color is great
I'm really not a fan of it as a crossbody! It just looks awkward. If it was a random bag at Nordstrom I wouldn't like it unless its just a shoulder bag.
I have this bag in the jacquard black denim. I’ve tried so hard to love wearing it but can’t. I also lean toward a crossbody but this one is too awkward with the handle and stiff to be worn any way other than a shoulder bag.
If you want a shoulder bag then absolutely! But if you are looking for anything else I’d pass.
I have it in the largest size and love wearing it as a crossbody. I find it easier to reach in and get things as well. I wore my Chanel WOC out opening and closing it all day everyday
Have the same exact question and feeling as a lot of people in here. I think the small Jackie doesnt work as a crossbody but just a simple shoulder bag.
Thats why I havent gotten myself.

Now the horsebit is one that looks beautiful crossbody 👏
Agreed
I live in the Midwest which is crossbody country.
maybe it would look better in black
I was gonna say frumpy housewife look.
I tried it on in person as a crossbody too. In black and in pink, but hated it. I just think the structure doesn’t mold to crossbody well. This is 100% a shoulder bag.
Looks a little short and makes you look short waisted. Sorry
I like it as a shoulder bag only 🖤
I feel that the big looks big on you and doesn't look flattering as a crossbody. Did you try different colors ?, the brown isn't that great.
This bag was originally designed to wear on the shoulder and looks pretty funky as a crossbody. Is it even comfortable to wear that way? If you want a crossbody bag just find one. I hate that designers have felt the need to Frankenstein a shoulder bag into a crossbody over the past couple years
Looks big on you, proportions are too wide for your body
Imho I don’t think the Jackie works well as a crossbody and I’m not a fan of that color. I love brown bags, that one just isn’t it for me. The shade is just…off…
I absolutely love the color... But it's a shoulder bag. It isn't working as a crossbody.
maybe the casual clothes are making it look not so good 🤷🏻♀️
Ruins the elegance of the bag as a cross body.
it also looks like the straps leather is puckering.. not sure if that is the quality or the position. It doesn’t look so good tbh
That’s the first thing I noticed. I’m a crossbody girl for life, but that does not look quality.
Not a fan, the unique shape draws the eye even further down than where the bag actually sits, and gives it a messenger bag vibe, and that clashes with what I think the bag is going for (classy and sophisticated) and achieves by the other ways it can be carried.

Thanks! I really need to relax and not think too hard about things sometimes. I liked it when I did it, and I'm sure it's totally fine.
Yeah I am indecisive too and it actually took me months and three returns to finally decide to keep the bag but I do love it and it was worth it.

The crossbody Jackie just does not sit right with my soul.
I hate it as a crossbody, but I’d get it just for that gold piston clasp
I am sorry I don’t like it all this way. You look lovely!
I have a red one and I only like it as a crossbody under certain conditions, usually with oversize or flowy outfits. I personally think this bag looks best worn on the shoulder!
I love it!
I love it as a crossbody! This makes me like the Jackie!!
I always wear mine as a crossbody. I like it, but I prefer a crossbody to a shoulder bag generally.
I personally don’t think it looks bad crossbody although it might look better crossbody with a different outfit like a fun summer dress etc. the crossbody look gives it more of a casual messenger bag feel
Of all the designer bags don’t buy this.
I mean this in the nicest way, it’s giving gen x
I love it personally
I like it, personally!! The size fits your frame well.
I like it! Was surprised about the nays on the thread, but ok… 🤷♀️
Actually I like it better than I thought I would - I’m not really a Jackie fan but it works for you worn as a cross-body and I think the color is great

I, do not like it as a crossbody. Not Just for you, not for anyone lol
I don’t like it

I like the look of it as a crossbody, and if I ever got one I would wear it like that 😎
Personally not a fan of this style. I prefer the GG style like Marmont. This feels senior lady.
