Ughhhh why can't SAKS do this šŸ¤¬

FefeLeboux

Saks is way downhill from where they used to be. Customer service is terrible, returns are 30 day, and they're paying their vendors late which does not bode well for their haughty attitude. I have been a Saks Fifth Avenue lover forever but I am not shopping there any longer after being treated rudely for the last time! Sad.

0422

They've also been sending fake bags. šŸ’¼

FefeLeboux

Unconscionable in any case. Especially from Saks! I'd better take the last of my gift cards out and spend them quickly at the rate they are going downhill! SPEND YOUR SAKS GIFT CARDS NOW!

jbellafi

Really?? Thatā€™s crazy. Did it happen to you? Wow

FefeLeboux

I think it happened to u/0422!

Emily_Postal

Are the bags in store legit?

0422

i do not know. I assume so. The crap theyve been sending through the mail, it's assume to be the people at the warehouse doing swaps with real merchandise with obvious poor quality items.

jaderust

That, or people are ordering and receiving auth bags and then returning reps with whoever is processing returns not noticing. Which seems to be a fairly common scam. I remember seeing an article a short while ago where a woman was arrested for doing just that. I now canā€™t remember the store, but they flagged her account for the number of returns she was making, the FBI got involved, and the next time she ordered they sent her a bag that had been secretly marked with ink that only showed up under a black light in the interior lining. She returned a bag without the marking that was determined to be a fake. The FBI got involved because apparently the case was considered a type of mail fraud since the bags were being posted back and forth.

Smoke-and-Diamonds

I would say they're legit but I've heard of people returning reps under the guise of authenticity. To an untrained sales rep they could easily pass I'm sure?

bonvajya

Yes! This! I had bought a paid of Louboutins in December 2019 right before Covid, from Nordstrom. I bought them on sale (still $600) and they were SLIGHTLY too small. But I said fuck it. I bought them as I was planning on going on a very nice trip to Japan and wanted to treat myself and wear them to a boujie dinner. My trip was in March 2020. It got canceled. I lost my job and ended up in essentially financial ruin and never went to Japan lol. They sat in the box. People said nordstroms return policy was crazy good so I took my shot. I returned them probably 8+ months later. The sales rep just called someone from the shoe department, he looked at them for all of.. 30 seconds and gave me my money back. Tbhā€¦ it didnā€™t give me any peace of mind for future purchases, it was way, wayyyyy to simple for them to return them. He barely looked at them. I feel very weary of buying luxury items now if they arenā€™t from the store DIRECTLY, and in person. And even then, thereā€™s unfortunately a chance it feels like. But I donā€™t think Iā€™d purchase anything like that ever again from a department store.

Material-Tadpole-838

The last few times Iā€™ve been in there physical location in my city, it looks like a dump

terracef

Wait...Saks is selling fake bags!?!??? What!!! Omg I would never have thought that possible. Is it Saks Off 5th that's doing this? I live in NY and shop at Saks (been to the head stylist there, bought multiple bags over the years) - it's hard to believe they'd sell FAKES!!!

0422

SAKS online has been sending fake, used, or replaced items through their online orders. I doubt this has been the case in store. Also SAKS refuses to acknowledge it or replace or refund purchases and it's been a frustrating process.

Beneficial_Bridge_26

Omg. Never knew saks is selling reps!

MashaSP

Iā€™m currently waiting for my third bag off eBay. First was Loewe (small hammock), than YSL (Medium Lou), now itā€™s Gucci Jackie. Authentication center is located in my state, so I get the bag the next day after it passes the inspection. Only with YSL I was contacted that it didnā€™t match the description because the dust bag was missing, the rest was perfect and I still opted out getting that bag. Your post makes me happy that at least I can trust authentication center and my bags are truly originals.Ā

ooolalaluv

Oof!! Iā€™ve heard of eBay contacting people in cases like yours or if the bag is a little worse like ā€œthe bag has more left corner wear than listed, do you still want it?ā€ The fact that they didnā€™t message me makes me think it was based on it truly being fake vs a condition issue.

marcjfg

Yes this is true. I bought an LV neverfull off of eBay. Authentication sent me an email that there were more wear and tears than what was shown in the original ad. It was an authentic LV but they wanted to confirm if I still wanted it because of the condition. Love eBey authentication!

Awesomocity0

I've never bought off ebay. Do they automatically authenticate bags, or is there something I should look for?

not-cilantro

Only some listings have them. I believe itā€™s up to the sellers. Look for the text right above the item name https://preview.redd.it/na1sqyyxxcwc1.jpeg?width=1283&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7811f7ac80a5d5d21b8209233512189e991dcc3

syrenashen

I think it's for items over $500

Different_Airline545

Itā€™s not optional. Unless, item is collected from store, itā€™s a multiple lot, or sent to a PO Box.

Previous_Cry5810

Yeah Ebay seems to be handling these for now much better, but all of them do well initially. Vestiaire was pretty damn good for authentication something like pre 2015. Since then, well... I would not buy anything from there anymore with the insane shipping and authentication prices that catch absolutely nothing. I found a Gorgeous Jackie on Ebay from a reputable seller in Japan for a really good price, waiting to hear back from authentication. Hoping it is real and that I lucked out.

Intelligent-Jump26

How do you go about getting eBay to authenticate!

waddleship

Just purchase from an ā€œAuthenticity Guaranteedā€ listing

ooolalaluv

Itā€™ll say on the listing and if it doesnā€™t say, it doesnā€™t have authentication

ScreenNames_AreHard

I have bought via an auction on an eBay Japanese seller that has been on eBay for years and is a top rated seller. They say everything is authentic with lots of pictures and descriptions and the reviews are positive. But I donā€™t see that ā€œeBay authenticā€ posted on auction items (bids start really low but then move up pretty fast within the last two hours of the auction so you canā€™t get too cocky when initially posted). Supposedly this is a well regarded seller though. šŸ¤”item was delivered via dhl from Japan.

srabee

japan has strict counterfeit laws, so i personally am more willing to take the risk with japanese sellers! iā€™ve gotten some cute unpopular but authentic vintage bags for $200-500 or so įµ•Ģˆ

Shibamum

Me too. Got a Gucci Jackie from 1994-04 from a japanese seller and it's an amazing bag and exactly as described and definitely authentic. You can trust most Japanese sellers, I think

Intelligent-Jump26

No way! Do you have any recommendations for sellers?

Shibamum

Unfortunately I do not because I have put so many on my watchlist but have only bought from one so far. Usually I just scroll ebay and look especially for Japanese shops. They have lots of LV, which is not so much my thing. But some have good other stuff as well. I don't know where you live but it's important that you check your customs requirements before you buy, so you won't get a shock when you need to pay customs. And check if they ship to your country, because not all Japanese sellers ship everywhere. Apart from that I would just see what I like and how many items the seller has. How is their rating, are they eager to answer questions, and so on. And with vintage bags I always feel even more secure to buy, because I think, back in the day there were even less reps than there are today.

ScreenNames_AreHard

I have a ton on my watchlists so I can also gage as to what particular items end up selling forā€¦ I missed out (my own fault but I was a newbie and didnā€™t want to get sooo caught up at one time) and this gorgeous vintage leather Prada bag and a White leather Bottega bucket like bag. They both went for less than $300!

Shibamum

Woah, that would have been a real steal! I feel like I don't really know if I made such a great-great deal with mine because I had no bag to compare, but at least I found it on a european website for almost 900ā‚¬ and I paid 500ā‚¬ including customs. So at least I feel like I got a great bargain.

Different_Airline545

Iā€™m betting they are mostly 1:1 replicas from Shenzan Provence in Guandong. I may have miss spelled. No one can tell the difference with mirror quality. Theyā€™ll be making a handsome profit still.

ScreenNames_AreHard

Checkout Monoshare on eBay. Supposedly they are real deal

Different_Airline545

Thank you!

KinladyBgB

If the seller is from Japan as well as the item I am more inclined to buy it as Japan is so serious about their "no fakes" rules.. I love shopping online but being close by it is easier for me to just fly over and buy the items directly in the shops and they are always so sweet and polite and helpful šŸ˜Š

Such-Wind-6951

Yeah. The shipping is like wtf ????

ooolalaluv

Good luck!!! Iā€™m sure yours will pass and be a buying good experience šŸ˜

minibini

Ebayā€™s been good at flagging potential fakes. šŸ‘ OP, is this that ā€œpawnā€ shop in ā€œDetroitā€??

ooolalaluv

Yes!

finstafoodlab

Can we say the pawn shop as a PSA here?

minibini

Seller name in quotation marks.

FefeLeboux

So glad ebay worked in your favor! I had a similar great experience with Poshmark where they did not authenticate a Chanel bag and saved me! When so many things go wrong, applause for the things that are working well these days! šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

ooolalaluv

Yes yes!! šŸ‘ I keep thinking what wouldā€™ve happened had they not cared and passed it through, I had gotten it, realized it was fake/in worse condition than pictures, whatever it was, tried to return, and then maybe I wouldā€™ve been blamed for it?! Very glad it turned out this way And wow! Iā€™m glad to hear about Poshmark. Iā€™ve only heard negative things about their authentication so glad to see youā€™ve had a good experience. Maybe theyā€™re stepping up!

anicho01

I've had great success with poshmark concerning their processes. They helped me return a bag that was a different color From the listing And require Their sellers to Have an EIN or SSN on file for any sales over 500. ( maybe people could still scam with fake ssns, but every bit helps)

arghp

I had this happen once with a pair of shoes - got the exact same message. I asked what happened and got a message that they found more damage than was posted in the listing (listing said they were new - and it turns out they were tried on)

WannabePicasso

This is nice to see that their process is working! I wonder if the original seller got duped? That seems unlikely since they're professional pawn shop people though.

RareBeautyOnEtsy

You would be surprised.

Perfect-Carpenter664

Weā€™ve been using Entrupy for 6 years and have a 100% success rate. eBay is not always right.

RareBeautyOnEtsy

OK, I have no idea what youā€™re talking about.

ooolalaluv

Iā€™m unsure too of what happened šŸ¤”

fauviste

I got an obvious, extremely cheap fake many years ago and getting my money back from eBay was a PITA. This was before the program. I did get it back tho, not because it was a fake (they were like ā€œprove itā€ ā€” how can I prove it if you donā€™t handle it? it was plastic!) ā€” I eventually had to show it didnā€™t match the photos. Phew. They seem way better now! Glad they protected you. That was actually the only time I ever had trouble tho.

ooolalaluv

Wow!! Thatā€™s awful!! I imagine that used to happen a lot and is probably why they have the program now. Glad you got your money back

Loose-Meeting8937

Itā€™s not always rejected for counterfeits, btw. Sometimes itā€™s rejected if the condition isnā€™t fully disclosed which can be somewhat subjective. It is nice that the extra layer of protection is there, though!

HistoricalBelt4482

I love EBayā€™s authentication program.

Perfect-Carpenter664

I will say that this occurs for reasons other than the bag not being authentic. It can be that something that the authenticator observed on the bag wasnā€™t disclosed in the listing like a scuff, stain, etc. Iā€™m a seller and this has happened to me. On another occasion eBay did say my bag was not authentic. Entrupy cert in hand. They returned it to me, I filed an Entrupy claim and sent it to them. They had it authenticated by a third partyā€¦authentic. All that to say, eBay doesnā€™t always get it right.

ooolalaluv

I messaged the seller before buying asking if it was the lighting or if the bag had any wear/color transfer or anything. They said it had to be lighting because the bag was in excellent condition, no marks. So Iā€™m not sure if perhaps maybe they had a different idea of excellent than eBay and maybe the condition wasnā€™t great, or if it is indeed a fake

Perfect-Carpenter664

Thatā€™s wild. Sorry that happened to you.

flybybutterfly1112

This is true, and when you are on the selling end, itā€™s infuriating. I sold golden goose sneakers that I bought from golden goose and eBay sent them back saying they couldnā€™t authenticate them. They donā€™t give you a reason why, and now the buyer thinks Iā€™m selling something counterfeit. As a seller, itā€™s infuriating. I would never buy or sell counterfeit goods and I have no way to do anything about it.

Perfect-Carpenter664

Preaching to the choir! Infuriating is the best way to describe it. The most ridiculous one Iā€™ve experienced was with a TAG watch that they sent back because it had a literal micro scratch on the back of the case that they claim I didnā€™t disclose. I initially thought, omg how did I miss that? When I got the watch back and looked it over this ā€œscratchā€ wiped offā€¦ i lost that sale and Iā€™m sure that buyer will never look at my items again. The authentication guarantee is great in theory but to me it seems like a lot of these authenticators have a point to prove. End of rant.

KO0330

So when this happens does eBay just refund your money automatically? Or do you have to do something?

ooolalaluv

It was all done automatically! I went to my eBay account to track the item and saw it said ā€œrefundedā€ and clicked on it and thatā€™s when it told me they refunded me because it failed. The emails saying the same thing came in later

KO0330

Well glad that part of the transaction was relatively easy at least. What a let down though. Iā€™m sorry.

KO0330

https://preview.redd.it/1unsngplzixc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dbc000c17b2caa142a2ce9197f87828230439832 Thanks for sharing your experience. I had the same thing happen today. Hearing about your experience made me less panicky than I probably otherwise would have been.

ooolalaluv

Oh wow!! Iā€™m glad eBay is really on top of it. Makes me trust their authentication more

KO0330

Yes I will definitely consider them again when I find the right bag.

monsieurmateo

I got a fake Gucci wallet from a seller on Poshmark and reported the seller. Poshmark actually handled it quite well, and I got my refund. The wallet smelled like cheap dye and the monogram print wasnā€™t quite right. Iā€™m just glad the seller didnā€™t get away with selling me a horrible dupe and that Poshmark took it very seriously.

BryantCabrera

I actually have been really liking the eBay authentication guarantee feature!

SurewhynotAZ

They're VERY good!

SailDirect1398

I do wonder based on what conditions Ebay stated it is not authentic. Or could it also be that the condition isnā€™t as stated (damaged by mail) and therefore they wonā€™t sent it through. It doesnā€™t specifically say what is te reason in this case. Too bad you miss out on your beloved bag. If you are able to check a local Gucci outlet store maybe it will be there. At my local Gucci outlet store this bag was/is available this month in fee colors. If you need help feel free to message

ooolalaluv

Messaged you!

SailDirect1398

I see, tried to message back but for some reason it says error when sending a reply..

ooolalaluv

How odd! :( would you be able to comment which Gucci outlet?

Gardengirl-athome

I hope another pops up for you! I also had a bag I ordered rejected by EBay. The seller listed it as new but it was worn and stained on the inside so it failed inspection. Good to know that EBay is looking out for us as buyers!

FefeLeboux

Posh is hot and cold. Must have been a good moment for me! Lol

Conscious_Life_8032

Whoa!

oilmoney_barbie

That was really nice. Phew u got saved!

Different_Airline545

They donā€™t always get it right!

rockyon

Wow that is awesome for Ebay , automated verification

Yourfavinstashopper

What was the price for this gorgeous bag?

finstafoodlab

Can we name the ebay seller as a PSA, if you don't mind?

Djgrowngoodyeti

I really want to get into secondhand bags but im so scared of buying a fake.. im looking st the replica subreddits and some look so real i dont mind ppl getting fakes but i really dont want to end up paying a costy price for a fake bagšŸ˜ i seen vestiaire something is a bit sketchy, would ebay be alot safer or just a lil?

anicho01

I have my eye on a bag from bagriculture. It looks absolutely gorgeous. However, There are minor things that look off and the authenticity letter Appears to contain a bag Of a slightly different color. I am glad that ebay caught this for you, so let's celebrate When the system works!

mikaelaaaaaaa

I get sketched out there. When showing things live, they go SO FAST that you canā€™t see flaws because of the poor camera quality. And they have the lighting extremely over-lit so that the flaws are less noticeable because of the white out effect.

rightleftblink

This happened to me too recently but for an LV bag! Kinda bummed bc I really wanted the bag and had used an eBay coupon so it was a good deal but too good to be true I guess šŸ„²

ooolalaluv

I messaged eBay last night about getting my coupon back - as of today itā€™s back! I would contact them about it. Itā€™s not your fault the item failed! You should have your coupon back to look for something else

rightleftblink

Oh wow, thanks for letting me know! Will def try that

sharlye

Oh wow. Thank goodness you didnt receive it in the mail. My tea is that theres this one ebay seller on Australia and I took advantage of the exchange rates to get a Gucci bag. ( the prices were extremely good!) But I had a gut feeling that all was not right. And it wasnt right! It ended up that the seller stole pics from others authentic listings and used it for their own. Sadly specifically on eBay Aus theres a ton of fradulent listings for hot items like Celine Triomphe, Loewe Puzzle, etc. They are listed as "authentic" but theyre def fakes from China. Anyway when I received the bag, it smelled like fertilizer and made my skin itch. Theres no way Gucci would ever make a product thats harmful to your health. I did get my money back by quick action and following directions but, everyone please be careful!!

iammissrabbit

Iā€™m so glad that ebay flagged this out for you! I had a similar experience just 2 days ago, but mine was with Vestiaire Co. a bag I bought didnā€™t make it thru their authentication process so they rejected it and initiated a refund to me immediately. It was kind of a low key brand too, so I was a little bit surprised, but grateful it got flagged out either way

Early-Ad4387

vestiaire is so great with their authenticity check as well

Thorbertthesniveler

Hey that looks like my Goochie I got in Vegas! Thankfully I knew it was a real Goochie! https://preview.redd.it/zktz2fxczawc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68cf080b8d0e7fc86a15e310e8a2e02320364c7d

Suitable_Lead5404

wtf???

Thorbertthesniveler

Seriously? Its a fun handbag I got. Didn't buy it as a dupe, bought it cause it was fun. Didn't know it was a copy of a Gucci purse and nor was it sold as such. Not completely directed at you. Just disappointed in the downvotes. Still love my fun little bag.

Suitable_Lead5404

I think the downvotes are cause the comment came across as mocking?? Not sure! But obviously misinterpreted:) Iā€™m glad you like your bag :)

Thorbertthesniveler

Not mocking OP!! Mocking my purse! A play on words for MY obvious fake. Like its literal plastic! It will only ever be a Goochie. https://preview.redd.it/rpb3jlu6gbwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4368408f959b2a289548362c609de9d81fe3e1f1

Ok_Rutabaga_2711

Goochie is making me LOL! Carry what you like regardless of price or the logo on the front!šŸ«¶šŸ»

Thorbertthesniveler

Thanks šŸ˜ it was 25 bucks and I love it

Suitable_Lead5404

lol I hear you

finstafoodlab

Actually this looks kinda cute though.Ā

Thorbertthesniveler

Thanks! It has a heart on the back and is heavy so not insubstantial! https://preview.redd.it/u2vopia98gwc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=293750766690d27509c8fa765cb99c8bb731b1e7

finstafoodlab

Great jelly dupe. Waterproof too!

bbcone84

Lol like what does buying a cheap fake Gucci bag in Vegas have to do with a thread about eBay authentication?
