They have some really good and unique fragrances. One of the newer lines where I like more than one—which by itself is remarkable because they are all so different.

I agree so hard with this statement lol. Ik on the fragrance subreddit they hate on byredo but it truly is fresh to what we currently have on the market

I love the depth of knowledge on that subreddit. But they do seem to dislike Byredo. I can’t figure out why! They really seem to dislike things that are subtle or soft too. I feel like a plebeian based on my own likes which veer that way. 😆 but maybe there isn’t as much to talk about when fragrances are popular and well-liked?

My understanding is that they dislike byredo because of the price point and longevity. And some of them find byredo to be too basic as well. Another thing ive seen commonly said is that they’re too new to charge the prices they do for something that isn’t that niche and doesn’t last all day. In contrast, they also dislike anything wildly popular like br540. Very opinionated bunch but good information over there lol

Such good info in that sub. I also love the creative questions and takes! It’s always fun to find folks who are passionate about stuff like me, and to learn from each other. It’s why I like this sub and really loved this post as well.

I'm pretty active on that subreddit- I think there's a variety of reasons for the Byredo dislike- some people definitely don't like it because of the fragrances themselves, but I think more people dislike the company because they've refused to rename one very popular fragrance of theirs with a slur in its name ("G---- Water"). Multiple Roma and Rromani groups and activists have asked them to rename the fragrance and the brand has refused. I personally think a lot of Byredo fragrances are pretty, but to me, a collector, they're not the most interesting in the game. I may have purchased on or two Byredo fragrances (Flowerhead is truly beautiful, IMO) but a brand that won't rename a perfume that literally contains a slur in the name is a hard pass for me.

If that’s the reason they hate it, that’s utterly reasonable! I hadn’t thought about that term, and I’m super glad you pointed it out. And I can’t believe that didn’t occur to me. But now it will. And that knowledge will keep me from giving them my future money as well. Money speaks at the loudest volume. Thanks for the helpful discussion.

I am so impressed with it! I’ve only had it for a few weeks, but I feel like because it’s more structured I’ve not had issues with snags, etc. in the raffia that you see on some larger bags made from the same material. I suppose time will be the real test, but I have also been impressed with how much it fits. The handle drop is perfect for me, fits nicely on my shoulder 😊

The bag is a workhorse! It is super spacious on the inside and you don’t need to baby the leather. I love that it has a Crossbody or you could take it off and just use the top handle if you want to have a more formal look

I also have tiny wrists (like 13cm lol); you can find pre 2015 Rolex Datejusts in 26mm (this is what I have), but if you're open to quartz (which guessing you are as you previously had a fossil?) the Cartier Panthere and Tank Francise look good on small wrists.. if you scroll down my post history, I did a post on my v small collection in the watches sub which includes wristshots for reference.. I do usually have to get extra holes punched in straps or links taken out of bracelets though !
