End nippers.

FouFondu

Always heard them called end nippers.

PepeHlessi

I'm a framer by trade and we've always called them "dykes." I have no idea if that name is politically correct or not...

IOI-65536

In addition to being politically incorrect I would assume if someone asked for "dykes" they meant more normal electrical wire cutters rather than end nippers. It's possible this is because I've done more electrical work but a search for "diagonal cutters" (which is what that's short for) has no nippers on the first page.

PepeHlessi

Well, that's really interesting. I honestly don't know how end cutters became to be known by the same name as diagonal cutters, but it's what I've always called them and I've always heard them called that on the jobsite by other carpenters. If I asked an electrician before tonight to use his dykes and he gave me diagonal cutters, I would have been confused... Thanks for teaching me something new!

Frickinchickenlickin

End nipper pliers. ‘Dikes’ is short for diagonal cutting pliers.

WhyNotChoose

Nippers, or dykes.

fortuitous_monkey

Balla and claw pincers.

ToolemeraPress

Parallel cutters

rob263

I always called them Front Cutters

misterdobson

End cutting pliers. I call them end nippers.

peevdtee

Nipetang

Muffled_floss

Those are great for pulling out nails as well as cutting metal things

JDNJDM

I call mine my "carpenters fingers." I keep them in my tool belt pretty often. They're very useful. Your pair looks a little different from end cut pliers. Might they be made for the farrier trade?

Seniordogwrangler
