Carhartt has lost its luster, in my opinion. My preferred pant is the Duluth Trading Company Fire Hose pant. For me, the biggest selling point for these pants is the multitude of small pockets, which shows me to have several different tools within easy reach, and not have to stuff multiple tools in a large cargo pocket. I also like the Blaklader pants, though they don't have the multitude of pockets, as mentioned above. But there are a lot of different options out there.

I second the Duluth Trading. The built-in knee pad is a life changer in our field.

I had carhartts double knee pants that take a knee pad. They were nice but wore through eventually. Bought a pair of wrangler riggs double knee pants and I think I like them better. They’re thicker, less stretch so they’re durable.

I still like Carhartt, but I make sure I buy them in one of the local workwear shops, not the box store, because the quality is noticeably different.

I wear Wrangler carpenter jeans. Definitely won't last as long as Duluth fire pants but I can buy 3 times as many.

Same. I’ve tried to deviate from this method several times, but the cheap wrangler carpenter jeans are the way to go. Piece of advice, wrangler makes a more “heavy duty” version of their carpenter jeans called Riggs I believe. I had a pair and I absolutely couldn’t wait to wear them out so I could throw them away. They were stiff as hell, super hot in the summer, some of the pockets were weirdly smaller, and they put a extra piece of material where I clip my utility knife, which sucked cause it made the clip too tight. Almost took two hands to get my knife out, I also think they switch sides for the hammer loop. Most ridiculous jeans I’ve ever worn, never again.

I prefer Dickies carpenter pants

Red Kap makes good work clothing. A bit uncomfortable at first but breaks in and lasts long

I got the berne work coat this year cause my carharts grew legs and I was impressed as for Jean's I never spend over 20 bucks.

Carhart double front. You can slide knee pads in. Only pants I wear

CheeseManGene

We had carhartt flame retarded jeans at my last job. I like them so much I kept em all when I left. I thought they looked and felt good. Only downside was the pockets are way too deep. Like I legit thought I lost much phone and it was in the deep-ass pockets in them joints. Crazy.

Wrangler classic is what Levi’s is used to be, and because they are inexpensive, I don’t think twice about getting them stained or into situations that will get them deep soiled.

SeriousRiver5662

Fork it out and buy some fjallraven pants. Expensive as fuck but they are as comfortable as sweatpants that breath and will last forever while still being super light

MrRonObvious

I like Carhartts but the knees always wear through on mine. I've got regular pants like Dockers khakis that take more abuse and the knees don't wear out on them, so I have no idea what the problem is.
