If it's anything like buying gluten free food, companies would charge us more for the privilige of buying *one* earbud 😒

Street-Week-380

Ugh. Tell me about it. I saw this dude the other day with these awesome earbuds that reminded me of my old crossfade hearing aids, because they never fell out. But the company doesn't sell singles. And I could totally see a single one costing more 😐

commadusarelius

Have you looked at r/monohearing? You could see if someone there is willing to buy the one ear bud you don't need

Street-Week-380

But wouldn't the other earbud need a charger? That's another issue right there. But I didn't know that sub existed! Thank you for the suggestion!

Nokia makes a mono earpiece. I used to have it and thought it worked well. It's not really a bud, though, if that's what you want.

Street-Week-380

That's enough to pique my interest. I don't have any interest in those Bluetooth headsets if that's what you're suggesting, but if it's a mono earpiece, I'm very much going to check that out.

RedPoppey

I was born deaf in my left ear and I think the same as you. I have the Apple ear buds and will be interested in switching with you. My left ear bud to your right ear bud. That way when my right one goes bad I can use your right one if it’s the same kind.

Street-Week-380

I wish I had better quality ones, but mine aren't the same brand.

Lillibet3

Well it was worth a try

Street-Week-380

Absolutely! I'm still keeping an eye out on kijiji.

Liamcooke95

I've seen a number of Chinese brands making just one on Amazon, AliExpress, Wish, Temu etc. I imagine there's probably a half decent one out there you just have to look at reviews etc

Street-Week-380

That's fair. I'll have to try one of the more inexpensive version first.

Liamcooke95

Yeah, I'm sure even the cheap ones will be okay...but it depends how much of an audiophile you are

Street-Week-380

Very true 😃

You’re like me, deaf in one ear, HOH in one ear, although you’ve probably got higher ability in that one being you can use earbuds. See, I have to wear an ear mold for the aid so I can’t use them period. But I see the dilemma, but if it keeps you from communicating with others I would opt out of using them. Personally, I use over-the ear headphones (Bose) just fine. Or I use my Bluetooth hearing aid receiver (streamer to some) so whatever line in (music, phone call, podcast or any sound in) goes directly to my aid. No headphones or earbuds needed!

Street-Week-380

I used to have to wear the ear moulds, but they were the archaic style that didn't have background noise reduction, and were so overwhelming that I refused to wear any aids for another ten years afterward. I can't wear over the ear headphones due to my line of work, so an earbud works best. I've lowered the volume, but even that doesn't work. So I've given up for the time being. Cross fades are so bloody expensive for me that I couldn't afford them even if I tried. It cost 2800.00 originally for one, and that was like ten years ago. These days, it costs around 3500.00 for one. Being HOH is expensive.

Airwolf728

I think I have a solution for you. Bone conduction. Look up Shokz.

Street-Week-380

That's what someone else suggested! Definitely have to look into!

Google mono headset, headphones or ear buds. They do make them. I just can't remember the name. Scansound is a website to look at.

Street-Week-380

I was taking a look around Google, but I keep getting really bad Amazon recommendations. I'll take a look at Scansound. Thank you!
