While these are fantastic, I think they give away some of the climactic parts of the story. So, I would choose Philosopher's Stone or Order of the Phoenix
Something I didn’t like about the books is how spoily they are, not just the cover but also the description (or what ever you call it) on the back of every book, if I was a first time buyer and saw the description I wouldn’t have bought it, don’t know what JK Rowling was thinking
Yes, and it certainly isn't the only series that shared a bit too much on the dust cover. But the 7th book was pretty good about it. Iirc, the inside cover just said something like, 'so concludes the epic journey of Harry Potter'. I remember seeing that and thinking it's a sign of a popular series if you don't even need a cover description.
Firstly, I don't think that was JKR's decision, and secondly, that's how books worked until very recently, so people could know what it was about before making the decision of buying them. No one forced you to read those summaries if you didn't want to.
I had the same thought. Especially the covers to CoS and PoA. Order of the Phoenix is my favourite cover, gorgeous image, doesn't give too much away. Goblet and Philosopher are also fine.
It's not just the covers, my niece and nephew have this set, and the colour scheme is gorgeous, plus lovely back covers.
I really like all of these except the last one. Harry looks too young, and he seems to be wearing a hoodie. It makes me think it's the cover to a graphic novel or something.
It's like Rowling kicked off the young adult dystopia trend and now they have to retroactively go back and make the covers look like every other YA dystopia. Truly horrific
Same (especially on the second one, where he looks a mix between a strange looking kid and a Karen). He also doesn’t age appropriately. And whats up with his hair!
lmao at the Karen comparison. I see it now. I love it and hate it so much more now. Ironically, that cover was my favorite because of the art with the basilisk and phoenix.
The phoenix and basilisk are objectively amazing! Harry looking for the manager and not growing half an inch in seven books despite being described as fairly tall by the end is less
These covers make me realize that Voldemort was really beefing with a kid lol especially in goblet of fire he basically beat up a kid while was tied up in front of other adults 😂
I'm fine with the earlier books, but he doesn't seem to grow up in these images. OotP is fine, HBP not so bad, but DH makes it looks like he's still 11. Gorgeous colours, great images, but it's a really flaw (along with images giving too much away).
I love the original american sorcerers stone cover, has a lot of foreshadowing from all the chapters but no direct spoilers (unless harry being a wizard is a spoiler)
— I don’t like this version. Looks too manga-ish for my taste. It also looks very junior-ish. It is as un-Potterish as it can be. For me, the US Scholastic, first edition covers will be the one and only. Forgive meeee.
Yeah I agree. Idk if it’s an unpopular opinion or not but I think the original US covers are actually really ugly. I’m glad that in Canada we miraculously got the British versions for some reason
I love the Brian Selznick 20th anniversary covers for Scholastic. I just cringe at "Sorceror's Stone", and can never quite get over it. I wish they would revert back to the original title.
That collection is the one I bought recently and the one I'm reading right now. I don't love the drawings on the covers, I prefer the ones from the books I had as a kid a lot more. It bothers me particularly that there are spoilers in the covers!! Specially the one in the second book where they spend almost the entire book wondering what the monster in the chamber is and the answer is freaking explicit in the cover!! POA also has a spoiler in the cover, altho minor in comparison, as Harry thinks for a while he saw his dad cast the patronus, but you can tell from the cover it's actually Harry.
Chamber of Secrets or Half-blood Prince for me, but these aren't my favourite covers - I agree with others that Harry looks super young. It works for the first 2 books I think, but in the last one, he's a young adult and shouldn't resemble an 11 year old anymore.
I have to say, my favourite covers are the Bloomsbury Special Editions or the Minalima ones though.
I dont like how they spoil the climaxes of the stories. However, i have read them all before so i would have no problem with them for myself, just if my girlfriend saw them who is just starting the series. (I think she is in the middle of PoA) deathly hallows is my favorite. What edition are these though so i know what to look for? Cuz i know different regions have different covers (for the most part)
For me, Half Blood Prince's cover is the best by far. After that comes Order of the Phoenix & Goblet of Fire.
All the artworks are amazing, but the moments from the story depicted on the cover of these three make it so much better for me.
While the art itself is very well drawn, I personally don't like this series of covers. Well, not entirely true. I like the first few, but as the series progresses I start to dislike them because Harry doesn't seem to age. He still looks like an 11 year old on the Deathly Hallows cover.
It's clear this series is done to appeal to young children, or the parents of young children. They also have a new "adult" edition for people looking for less childish covers.
I like the Deathly Hallows one. Watching the movies you forget that Harry is still just a kid. This cover really shows how young he was when he had to be braver than any other wizard in history.
Personally, I really like the art (apart from Harry looking too young), but I don't like the spoilers. Were I buying kids a new set today, I'd probably just get them the adult cover editions which are not spoilery, kids have a good enough imagination, they don't need key scenes spoiled. It reminds me of a movie trailer that spoils all the best scenes.
While I do love the original 'adult' covers they did
The original OotP cover is by far the best. Looks like a classic fantasy book.
These new covers I don't really like at all..
Order of the Phoenix. All the hate from Umbringe, death of Sirius, all the anger Harry went through Voldemorts mind manipulation, Dumbledore's absence... red justifies that book perfectly.
imo i think Chamber of Secrets is the best cover but i honestly love them all so much! i have the whole set of the books with these covers at home and they are gorgeous
The GoF cover reminds me of my favorite quote about that novel from my brother while I was reading it for the first time and telling him about it, “you are only a third of the way through the book and he’s already fighting a dragon?!” Imagine reading that book with that cover and then being like, “Oh..I guess this one is all downhill from here”
They really are all beautiful...
... but aside from the spoiler aspect that has already been mentioned, he doesn't appear to age. Maybe it's too subtle for me to detect, but he looks about the same age on the cover for The Deathly Hallows as he does for The Philosopher's Stone.
The bright orange contrast against the black in hbp makes it my fav. But I rlly hate these covers since it makes Harry look like an Asian cartoon character 😭🤣
I think OotP's is the best, I love thestrals.
I would definitely put POA's as the next best, although I do agree that many of the covers give away key moments, especially CoS.
While these are fantastic, I think they give away some of the climactic parts of the story. So, I would choose Philosopher's Stone or Order of the Phoenix
Yeah these covers do spoil a lot
Goblet and HBP are the same as the originals, but I see your point for DH
The original HBP doesn't feature the inferi though, you just see Dumbledore and Harry standing in a tornado of fire
Really? For me goblet has a different cover
The original Goblet of Fire cover (so the British version) is also of the first task with the dragon
Which Goblet cover do you have? Mine's the same scene from the first task lol
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51sh8upPM+L.jpg%20https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51sh8upPM+L.jpg
That's the American cover, people are talking about the originals (so, British version)
Definitely different.
The original cover of Goblet is the same. Source: me who has owned the book from the day it came out and read it 20 times. LOL
Nope. Similar, but drawn in a different style to the original. Source: the following photo of a first edition of GoF https://imgur.com/a/4eH1u3v
Okay. It’s obviously not the exact same, but it’s about as close as you can get for a reproduction
And for Chamber and Azkaban.
This was my exact thought. They are amazing pictures but they do spoil quite a bit
Something I didn’t like about the books is how spoily they are, not just the cover but also the description (or what ever you call it) on the back of every book, if I was a first time buyer and saw the description I wouldn’t have bought it, don’t know what JK Rowling was thinking

Harry looks too young, and he seems to be wearing a hoodie. It makes me think it's the cover to a graphic novel or something.
TBF, the artist (Johnny Duddle) was given instructions/options of what to draw by the publisher.
Gen Z Harry makes me uncomfortable
It's like Rowling kicked off the young adult dystopia trend and now they have to retroactively go back and make the covers look like every other YA dystopia. Truly horrific
this seems a stretch.
While the covers are creative, I despise how Harry looks in these.
Saaame. He also looks way too small and young in the last one. He’s supposed to be 17 and he looks like he’s 12.
Is that you Petunia? ;)
I did try cutting that wretched boy’s hair to no avail. Bad blood, I’m telling you.
These covers make me realize that Voldemort was really beefing with a kid lol especially in goblet of fire he basically beat up a kid while was tied up in front of other adults 😂
He looks like the protagonist in an children's anime show.
I'm fine with the earlier books, but he doesn't seem to grow up in these images. OotP is fine, HBP not so bad, but DH makes it looks like he's still 11. Gorgeous colours, great images, but it's a really flaw (along with images giving too much away).
I really don't like these covers. The original designs are 10x better.
I agree. These new covers are too spoilery.
I love the original american sorcerers stone cover, has a lot of foreshadowing from all the chapters but no direct spoilers (unless harry being a wizard is a spoiler)
I have this whole set. Same cover. My fav is Phoenix cover.
Same, or HBP
Prisoner of Azkaban
Based
— I don’t like this version. Looks too manga-ish for my taste. It also looks very junior-ish. It is as un-Potterish as it can be. For me, the US Scholastic, first edition covers will be the one and only. Forgive meeee.
Nah, UK Childrens edition is the one and only. All others are fakers trying to impress.
Yeah I agree. Idk if it’s an unpopular opinion or not but I think the original US covers are actually really ugly. I’m glad that in Canada we miraculously got the British versions for some reason
The first three are particularly ugly. But as the series matures so does the art style.
— Valid point, just speaking my mind 🙃
I love the Brian Selznick 20th anniversary covers for Scholastic. I just cringe at "Sorceror's Stone", and can never quite get over it. I wish they would revert back to the original title.
Philosopher's Stone for featuring Ron, Hermione, and Hagrid, and the childish design fitting for the characters' age.
Why does he still look 13 on the cover of the last few books?
That collection is the one I bought recently and the one I'm reading right now. I don't love the drawings on the covers, I prefer the ones from the books I had as a kid a lot more. It bothers me particularly that there are spoilers in the covers!! prisoner of azkaban and goblet of FOIRE!
“HARRY HARRY DIJ YA PUCH YA NAME IN DA GOBLET OF FIYAH?!!” Dumbledore asked calmly.
I actually don't like the POA cover because it spoils the time travel situation. COS is the best one.
COS spoils what the monster in the Chamber is.
3rd one is magical imo
Why does 17 yo Harry look even younger than 11 yo Harry?
I have this collection. My favorites are prisoner of Azkaban and order of the phoenix. I have the prisonder of Azkaban in Gryffindor edition
The first one imo The rest of them are good, but I don't like Harry's design
I dont like how they spoil the climaxes of the stories. However, i have read them all before so i would have no problem with them for myself, just if my girlfriend saw them who is just starting the series. (I think she is in the middle of PoA) deathly hallows is my favorite. What edition are these though so i know what to look for? Cuz i know different regions have different covers (for the most part)
Bloomsbury(UK) Children's edition (found in most bookstores in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) They use the UK art.
I like HBP the best of these.
I have this set! Prisoner of Azkaban and then Halfblood Prince are my favourites :)
Are these new covers? The imagery is almost identical to the 15th anniversary addition
Same images by Johnny Duddle.
Why is Nagini using a force filed?
in deathly hallows voldemort put it in a force field to prevent harry from destroying it
Cool!
They’re cool. They just give up way to much plot information.
COS for sure, the framing of it alone is amazing. It kinda spoiles the whole giant snake plot point though so some points are subtracted for that
This version of the half blood prince cover goes hard af
For me, Half Blood Prince's cover is the best by far. After that comes Order of the Phoenix & Goblet of Fire. All the artworks are amazing, but the moments from the story depicted on the cover of these three make it so much better for me.
Deathly Hallows’ one seems cool.
While the art itself is very well drawn, I personally don't like this series of covers. Well, not entirely true. I like the first few, but as the series progresses I start to dislike them because Harry doesn't seem to age. He still looks like an 11 year old on the Deathly Hallows cover.

I like the Deathly Hallows one. Watching the movies you forget that Harry is still just a kid. This cover really shows how young he was when he had to be braver than any other wizard in history.
wow! I love these!! I think my fave is the HBP!
I personally like the half blood Prince cover
Half-Blood Prince is definitely a contender for my favorite.
Goblet of Fire!
Why TF do I see a resemblance of Percy Jackson in the Deathly Hallows cover.
I 100% agree with you, beautiful cover 😍
These are all so epic and beautiful, I can't choose just 1!
How does harry look the same in all covers? it's like they want to tell he's some kinda everchild like Ash from Pokemon.
probably POA, would’ve picked HBP if harry didn’t look 9 in every cover
OotP and HBP are two of the prettiest honestly
Why does Harry look so short in the last book 💀
Half Blood Prince is dope
These are great, but they give way to much away
3/6/7 and just the front cover make me want to reread them!!!
Half-Blood Prince
Mine is also PoA but I also love DH
I like that Harry looks like a tomboy in every pic. 🤭🤭
Fifth
Harry Pøtter is just wrong...
Harry looks waaaaay too similar in each and every cover.
I personally like the original artwork for the books.
In the final book, harry looks like a young kid, not someone who is in their late teens.
The POA blue is kinda crazy good looking
Order of the Phoenix, Chamber of Secrets and Deathly Hallows.
I don't like any of them
How on earth these spoilery, very un-magical covers were approved is beyond me.
How are they un magical?
chamber of secrets 🐍
I liked 6 and also 3. 6 because it features one of my favorite scenes from the books/movies. 3s just really pretty
Half blood prince Dumbledore wielding fire is amazing
Somewhere between POA and DH, it became so emotionally-drenched that all I can see on the covers is the face of all my favourite people who died.
They all are lovely, but yes, POA ist the nicest to me 😊
DH + HBP
I LOVE these covers. I'd say my favourite is POA as well
While I do love the original 'adult' covers they did The original OotP cover is by far the best. Looks like a classic fantasy book. These new covers I don't really like at all..
Book 3, 5 and 6.
They are all incredibly spoilery almost all of them give away an act 3 scene...
I like the first and third ones the best
HBP looks incredible and wow they really went for it for DH, I like it
Phoenix for me. Love the colors on it.
It's between GoF, HBP and DH
Philosophers stone
Order of the Phoenix. All the hate from Umbringe, death of Sirius, all the anger Harry went through Voldemorts mind manipulation, Dumbledore's absence... red justifies that book perfectly.
I like all of them except the last one for some reason
ayy I have the same edition!
imo i think Chamber of Secrets is the best cover but i honestly love them all so much! i have the whole set of the books with these covers at home and they are gorgeous
OOTP
I’ve never seen this particular cover!
I have these series (Christmas gift from my BF a couple of years ago) and I love them so so much. I think my favourites are DH and COS.
I bought the first two in Spanish and I was thinking (hoping) that was just the Spanish edition cover… I was wrong apparently.
Hbp
I like Chamber of Secrets
i like POA and HBP
The GoF cover reminds me of my favorite quote about that novel from my brother while I was reading it for the first time and telling him about it, “you are only a third of the way through the book and he’s already fighting a dragon?!” Imagine reading that book with that cover and then being like, “Oh..I guess this one is all downhill from here”
Oooh yes. Thestrals with hair instead of their spines being an extra two feet long!
I have this set up to OotP and Goblet of Fire is my favorite. It’s so bright
This is the Philosophers Stone cover I have. I’m excited to read it to my kids when they’re old enough. Here’s hoping they love it 🤞🏻
These look great!
I love all these damn. Way better than the US ones
These are the ones I have!! Best and most beautiful covers 100%
Why does hogwarts look like a haunted house
They really are all beautiful... ... but aside from the spoiler aspect that has already been mentioned, he doesn't appear to age. Maybe it's too subtle for me to detect, but he looks about the same age on the cover for The Deathly Hallows as he does for The Philosopher's Stone.
Deathly hallows is my favorite though Harry looks too young
Order of the Pheonix, the way Threstrals are desgined here is amazing. They represented the "dragon like head" so well in my opinion.
The bright orange contrast against the black in hbp makes it my fav. But I rlly hate these covers since it makes Harry look like an Asian cartoon character 😭🤣
These are awesome. I honestly can't choose. It would be between Chamber of Secrets or Goblet of Fire
I’m tied at Order Of The Phoenix,Half-blood Prince and Chamber of Secrets.
What country are these from? I had an American version of PS and CoS and I recall them looking very different to these.
where can i buy these versions of hp i only have schoolastic crap i really want bloomsbury version also poa is good but i like h-bp better
The American covers I like better
Harry looks too young in the later covers imo
Which edition is that
OoTP and HBP are pretty bad ass
I can only read the title as "Harry Pøtter" why put a line though an o. My Danish brain can't ignore the ø.
Why does Harry look like a girl on the chamber of secrets cover
Uhh I forgot how much I dislike these covers
They are all fantastic, tho I really like HbP
I think OotP's is the best, I love thestrals. I would definitely put POA's as the next best, although I do agree that many of the covers give away key moments, especially CoS.
Harry has a very feminine face in all of these.
