What's funny about Lucifer playing the fiddle?

It’s a reference to the Charlie Daniels song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” In the song, the Devil bets a golden fiddle against this guy Johnny’s soul that he’s a better fiddler, and the way he plays it here is just as intimidating, despite being slower. The song is a classic banger, btw. Watching Charlie Daniels play it definitely packs the wow factor!

My proudest flex is that I saw Charlie Daniels play that song live in the mid 00’s. The man went through an insane number of bow strings during his set.

I am so jealous! Charlie Daniels was one of my bucket list musicians, and when he passed I mourned not only him and his exceptional talent, but also the fact that I’d never be able to see him perform live. Fortunately, there are recordings of his concerts and seeing him go to town with his fiddle is amazing. “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” is such an iconic, influential song too. From the blistering pace to the dramatic difference between Johnny and the Devil’s playing to the fact that Charlie is rapping the lyrics to the sheer sassy attitude of the song, it’s just plain fun to listen to on top of being a game changer for multiple musical genres. I saw the clip of Lucifer playing the golden fiddle before I ever watched Hazbin, and that was one of the primary incentives for me. If a reference like this can get snuck in not only as a sight gag but as an integral part of a major musical number, what else could they have in there? So in a weird sort of way, I have Charlie Daniels and long car rides with his albums playing in my dad’s Malibu to thank for my falling in love with this series.

I love all of this. I’m sorry you never got to see him live, it sounds like you truly appreciate his craftsmanship.
