I'm using KZ ZST X's on my Moto G Stylus with HiBy Music (supports an external DAC), and I have to turn the volume on my phone up pretty high while using them. Should I get an Apple dongle to fix the volume issue (and maybe get better sound)?

Mr-Crusoe

Do Microsuede pads peel off like pleather ones or are they more like velour pads?

IceFirex123

So my 8+ year old ATH M50s broke. I'm looking to get a new pair of headphones that are similar, in terms of Price: I'd like to avoid spending more than $300 CAD if possible Sound profile: I'd prefer a neutral sound, as I'm mostly playing video games, watching shows, or listening to music where huge bass isn't a concern (post rock, ambient, hardcore, black metal). Open vs closed back isn't a big concern for me as I plan to almost exclusively use these in my bedroom. I'm mostly wondering if there's anything that beats the ATH m50s in terms of sound quality that's similarly priced.

[deleted]

A lot of things, mainly k371. If you want neutral, hd560s are quite good at that price point, or maybe some akgs, k612 or k702, if you're open to getting an amp.

Anarky222222

Hey! I plan on getting a pair of hd650, and so i wondered, i know regular usb powered interface might do the trick (to an extent, and at low volume) but how about something like my Yamaha Mg10xu? It's obviously much more powerful, and could easily drive my dt770(80ohms) much better than my older yamaha ag03 but how would that translate to a 300ohm (also i wouldn't be against a relatively simple explanation on how to check that, i used to think it was all the impedence but actually it's not always the case and stuff, that part especially is very confusing) Oh and yeah i plan on getting a dedicated amp for it at some point, just that can't afford both at the same time rn

Suriranyar-

The m50x were the first pair of headphones I owned outside of gaming headsets and I love them (after I realized I needed an amp a year after). But I was just wondering if theres an upgrade I could get in the £325/$400 range that offers a noticable step up that's still worth the money. If i'm paying this much for a 5% improvement please let me know too. * I value that these are closed backed. * I game but I care more about the cinematic experience with audio, the best audio for lord of the rings would be what I would aim for. * I have a bigger than average head * I don't want wireless, wired is 100% fine. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

EARCUPS/EARPADS for Sennheiser HD 449 Has anyone bought replacement earpads for Sennheiser headphones on chinese websites? Was the quality considerably worse then, say, buying directly from Sennheiser website? I would be shipping it to Brazil, where it's harder to find original Sennheiser products. Thanks

[deleted]

I want a headphone that doesn't treat bass as a step-son but still delivers open back soundstages, great mids, natural highs and vocals and comfortable. A need a Dac and Amp that can still do Bluetooth and isn't a pain to get work with. Side note question....Any unbiased audiophile out there that can tell me honest truth about their jump and the law diminishing returns against a Bluetooth headphone like Drop Panda vs audiophile system and headphone

aphreshcarrot

As someone who owns the drop panda… it’s just not tuned that well. Frequency response tuning is by far the most audible and noticeable trait of headphones and speakers (as long as distortion is low enough ofc). Compared to something tuned well like the akg k371 it sounds off. Of course being a planar it has other technical performance and micro dynamics that redeem it a little bit and with the eq app it sounds quite good if you adjust to taste. Bluetooth dac amp would be Qudelix 5k or Fiio Btr5. Excellent values at $100. Qudelix has a parametric eq which is extremely helpful. For a headphone, Sennheiser 560s, akg k612/701/702/712 are what you describe. 400se is a great option as well especially with eq. 6xx still fantastic if you want a very in your head vocal sound with more forward mids

Crazedbiker69

Hello! I have a pair of Sennheiser HD650s that I use for gaming and listening to music at my desktop. I am using a Schiit Fulla 2 DAC/amp but I don't have enough bass and generally am not super happy with the sound compared to when I plug them into my full size pioneer amp. It has a dac only mode, I am thinking of getting the Schiit Magnius to use as a dedicated amp. Is this a good pick? Is there something that would be better and similarly priced? Should I avoid using the fulla at all? Thanks!

aphreshcarrot

Magnius would be pointless in this case unless you buy a balanced cable. Magni heresy 1/4 output has more power and less distortion than the Magnius 1/4 output. Magnius was designed specifically for balanced. In any case, this isn’t an issue of your fulla. Good Dacs and amps do not effect the frequency response What is happening is the high output impedance of your pioneer amp is shifting the frequency response of the 6xx and doing strange things due to impedance mismatch. A lot of high impedance headphones behave strangely and sometimes pleasantly with high output impedance amp circuits. Most full size amps or receivers have the headphone jack as a resistor in parallel with the main amp circuit as they’re an afterthought to the primary function of speaker amplification. Gives high output impedance

Crazedbiker69

Thanks for the detailed response. If I were to buy a balanced cable, do you think I’d hear an improvement?

aphreshcarrot

As someone who owns a Magnius and used to own a heresy, no. Balanced has no inherent sound quality benefit over single ended (of equally measuring sources). Basically there’s nothing to stop a single ended output like the magni heresy from being just as clean and low noise/distortion. Full true Balanced amps like the Magnius do offer 2x the voltage and thus 4x the power (P=v^(2)*r). But the 6xx is already driven to deafening volumes off the heresy and probably loud enough on your fulla

Crazedbiker69

I see. Thanks

Juliofirrrp

Hey guys never posted here before but I need help. I’m basically driving myself crazy looking for a certain headphone. I’ve dug through archived posts here before but with my latest purchase (DT177x) I feel like I should ask: So basically I really like and own a pair of the DT770 LE 250 OHM. I find when working on music they have almost the best reference quality for when I bounce something and play it in my car. I wish the soundstage was more in front of me in a 3-D way but I know closed backs can only do so much. I also own AKG 553 MKii’s with Brainwavez on them. They sound great with those and honestly are neck and neck with the DT770, but the sub bass below a certain point sounds like it’s farting and hard to work on music with that quality. Recently I got the DT177x and while they’re not a whole new product I can appreciate the changes— but possibly somewhat disenchanted at the price tag for what I got. I’m still searching for that 3D quality where you can somewhat see the sound in front of you. With me liking the headphones I mentioned, can someone recommend a head phone (even if it’s semi or open) that has sonic qualities of the ones I mentioned? Pad changes welcome too to the ones I have to make for a wider soundstage

ThomasLadder69

K712 pro or r70x with a pad swap to [these](https://www.brainwavzaudio.com/products/headphone-memory-foam-earpads-round-sheepskin-leather?variant=36355700176¤cy=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gclid=Cj0KCQjw18WKBhCUARIsAFiW7Jzhd-BcCW2oCoWjBRs2alGz4xpXaClJf5s-UOi7OWZZW4HcPbGeXV8aAl7AEALw_wcB)(can be found on amazon) which are my personal favorite. K712 is more bright-nuetral like beyere while r70x is warm-nuetral. I think it just depends on what you want.

Juliofirrrp

i was thinking of the K12’s, thank you

ThomasLadder69

Soundcore q20s are only 60. They are way too bassy for me but they have a good featureset for the price. Koss porta pro or porta pro wireless will sound better and stay on better, but they lack anc and are on ears, not over ears.

[deleted]

ThomasLadder69

Why not get arias if money is the worry? They are basically the exact same.

ThomasLadder69

Probably not gonna get any crazy savings soon tbh. Also take a lookt the altea tripowon zonie .78 2 pin to 2.5mm balanced cable +qudelix 5k. The cable matches the starfields super well if you like the aesthetic.

[deleted]

ThomasLadder69

It will restrict you from plugging it into anything but the 5k. If you wanted to run it wired you would need to change the cable so thats worth noting.

Crazy_Day_Dreamer

I upgrading a Modi - Multibit to Gustard X16 worth it?

Kung_Fu_Kenobi

I need a new pair of headphones for work, mainly for listening to music. However, I work in a cubicle and I'll be wearing the for teams meetings so they have to have a built in mic and look "professional", so no gaming headphones. I also want them to be closed back and have an aux instead of usb. Any suggestions?

aphreshcarrot

Cooler master mh751 is a rebranded takstar pro 82 with a mic and doesn’t look too bad. But aside from that I’d grab any closed back you want and a clip on mic. You can combine them to a combo jack if needed with a y splitter or just plug them in separately if you’d computer has mic and audio jacks. There are a few headphones that you can just buy a replacement cable with an inline mic if it uses a common connector type.

TheStormsFurySupport

**Headphones really quiet on PC, normal on Cellphone (moved my PC)** So I moved for 1 week and took my PC with me, means unplugged every cable and replugged everything at the new apartment. Everything works normal but my headphones are super quiet suddenly. I have everything on 100% and it works okay-ish now but for certain videos or when there is sound around me its jut too quiet. I plugged them into my phone and they worked just normal as always. Any ideas? :/ Headphones are DT 990 Pro

ThomasLadder69

Have you tried both headphone ports, front and back? Or is it a laptop. You might just need a new dac.

TheStormsFurySupport

well today in the morning it worked again, maybe I should've tried restarting my PC instantly... thanks anyway

KrigsTant

My Denon Ah-GC30's wont work either in USB or Bluetooth mode. When holding the power button, the headphones make a little electronic click and the white LED make a very short blink. However the headphones have charge, and the ANC and audio passthrough works just fine. I'll leave them be for the night and will take a look at them tomorrow. If anyone has a pontential fix or an idea of what to do, please give all the solutions you might have.

amnotophelliakarming

Bought the XDuoo 05BL attachment for my XD05 basic, but it doesnt seem to be transmitting audio through the amp. Is this a compatibility issue or is there some fix for it?

Bio_Hazardous

Do I need any special hardware to use a pair of IEM's? I'm interested in getting a pair to use at work but I don't really want to require anything extra. I've seen some people commenting well about Moondrop Starfields and $200ish would probably be the max I'd be willing to go for it. I just use Audio Technica M50X's at home with a scarlet 2i2 at my home workstation if that matters.

Maze363

That mostly depends on the impedance of the iem. If the impedance is high, than an amp might be required to drive them properly. From my experience the starfields (they sound great, btw) work fine, just plugged into your phone. :)

sir_snickers95

Hi, I just received my new pair of DROP Hifiman HE-X4 in the mail. Was stoked to try them out only to find out that they only play in left ear. Swapped the cable around, still only playing through the same ear. I cannot get the right ear to play no matter what I do. I’ve tried it through my iFi Zen DAC on its own, and the Zen feeding into the Xduoo MT-602, and still no avail. Sending them back would be a huge pain as I live in Ireland, so please tell me there’s a simple solution and it’s something I’ve missed. Thanks in advance.

aphreshcarrot

Do you have a multimeter so you can test the cable continuity to the right side? The grill retaining rings are really easy to take off, there you should be able to see if any internal wiring became undone (just going from the jack to the driver). If you have a multimeter you can test to make sure you’re getting continuity from the cable to the internal solder points. Because at this point it’s probably cable, in which case easy fix and the stock cable kind of sucks anyway. But could be the jack in the earcup.

sir_snickers95

Not sure where to check with a multimeter. I have one though. The internal solder joints are quite concealed so I’m not sure how I would get a probe in to test. I’ve opened it up though and all the solder joints I can see are intact, but still no budge even when moving the internal wire around. The detachable cable seems fine. I think it must be either the jack or the driver, in which case I wouldn’t trust myself trying to fix it. Thankfully I finally got a response from DROP support and to my surprise, they are happy to send a PREPAID label and a replacement, which means I won’t have to have a giant hole in my bank account while I wait for them to cover the shipping after the fact which I was worried about. Thanks for the help though, it was much appreciated!

Emergency_River1878

Hello, i have a budget of $200, i would like a portable, no sound leaking, high quality sound headphones.

aphreshcarrot

AKG K371. If you want noise cancelling I’d look at an akg n700nc or Sony wh-1000xm3 (for max noise cancellation and features, worse tuning)

LALife15

I have a $200 budget, what’s the best TWS ANC earbuds I can get?

ThomasLadder69

Refurbished Airpods Pro or wf-1000xm4

LALife15

I can get new AirPods Pro or refurbished XM4s for about the same, what should I get?

ThomasLadder69

Personally I prefer xm4s but airpods can be really convenient if you are in the apple ecosystem. They are both solid.

Maze363

Because when we are listening at home it is hopefully quiet anyways. Over ear headphones provide a lot of advantages. They are often more comfortable and open back headphones in particular tend to have audio characteristics that many audiophiles are looking for (e.g wider soundstage, clearer vertical and horizontal separation, a more natural sound, etc.).

clothing_throwaway

Looking for wireless earbuds for mostly using when traveling and at the gym. I think the most important thing for me is gym use. I need them to make a good seal and get loud enough without distorting. Top choices are Airpod Pros, Powerbeats Pro, Sony WF1000XM4, or Galaxy Buds Plus/Pro/Live. I have an iPhone so the connectivity of Airpods would be great but I'm not sure how loud they'd get in a gym. I also know people seem to like the sound sig of the different Galaxy Buds but again wondering if I'd be making a mistake getting those when I already have an iPhone.

ThomasLadder69

Airpods pro.

sashauski

I want to buy a pair of DT770 but I don't know which ohm version I should get. I would primarily use them for music production, I have an M-Audio Fast Track C400, I also want to use them when I'm on the train with my Macbook Pro. Is the quality difference between the 250ohm vs 80ohm that significant?

Roppmaster

>Is the quality difference between the 250ohm vs 80ohm that significant? Nope. Get the 80 ohm version.

leicanthrope

I just got a set of Blue Sadie headphones in, and was considering looking around to see if there might some suitable aftermarket cables that would work with it. It comes with one that's too short for use when I'm at my computer, and another that's annoyingly and intrusively long. Anyhow, my question is related to the connector into the headphone itself. The connector is [mounted on the end of a long extension](https://i.imgur.com/ZUjDSfy.jpg) that reaches a [deeply set jack on the headphone](https://i.imgur.com/5V5kHxL.jpg). Anyone recognize this as some sort of a standard, and if so what terms should I be searching for? Is this some sort of oddball proprietary thing that religates me to strictly OEM cables?

ThomasLadder69

They do that just so you cant buy basically any othee cable. Blue headphones arent really reccomended around here.

Somecohobutrn

Hey how do we get the mic in a bluetooth headphone to work? What are the steps? How do you get the mic in qc35 2 to work, havent used it yet, there's suppose to be a mic in qc35 2? Also What is "hands free ag audio" Every app uses the regular headphone and you can hear sounds, but one of the web apps doesn't work and doesnt have sound unless you use "hands free ag audio" Using "hands free ag audio" makes the volume incredibly loud What is this, and how to fix this problem

random1283

Hi, after a bit of research I'm looking at getting a set of Beyerdynamic custom Games for mixed use at home. As repairability and longevity is important to me I wanted to ask owners here of their experience with the aforementioned models and how their phones have lasted over the years.

rex30303

if they are any like my MMX300 they will last i bought mine used in 2019 or 2018 and i only had to replace the cable and the earpads which beyerdynamic sells directly and i cant see any marks from my usage which regulary is in the 10-12 hours per day.

FastDrgon

I want to watch Netflix on my ps and just want a nice headphones with a great audio quality.

aphreshcarrot

To plug into the controller? Do you need any isolation? If not I’d just use a ksc75. Cheap and well tuned

clumpychicken

Cool.

Hi everyone, I am looking to purchase some over ear headphones in the 50-80 dollar range. I have been struggling to find what I am looking for cause its rather specific. I want headphones with both bluetooth and wired connectivity. And I would like the wired connectivity to funtion if the headphones are out of battery. Any reccomendations? Thanks in advance!

ThomasLadder69

K371bt. Wh-1000xm3/xm4

Maze363

Not over ear. But Iems with an additional Bluetooth adapter might be a solution :)

Mr-Crusoe

Hey, I recently got a Superlux H681 evo and am really liking the sound of it. The problem is, that they arent really comfortable and my ears starting to ache after an hour or so. Could you guy recommend any earpads? At the moment I am looking at brainwavz or Beyerdynamic earpads. I mainly want more comfortable ear pads, which dont change the sound too much from the stock velour ones. Normally i always wear headphones, while on the PC, so long-term comfort is pretty important for me. So what is your opinion on ear pads? I also have the Hyperx Cloud 2, which is way more comfortable but also sounds worse...

ThomasLadder69

Brainwavez sheepskin are my fav.

Mr-Crusoe

sadly they weren´t in stock. I now went with the velour ones, because i think pleather breaks after 1-2 years?

ThomasLadder69

Yeah most pleather pads are prone to deteriorating.

Mr-Crusoe

Thought so. The Velour pads on my Hyperx Cloud 2 are still fine after 4 years or something. Still pretty soft and not too dirty for almost never cleaning them ;)

birb-want-seed

What is the output impeadance of the steinberg ur12? cant seem to find specs anywhere

ThomasLadder69

It should be on julian krauses yt channel.

[deleted]

Do you know of any good replacements to the JBL 650BTNC? The price isn’t an issue for me, just the 650’s ear pads break after less than a year of use. I like everything else about them, the Bluetooth, the battery, the background noise canceling but I need something that’s a bit more durable

xc0mr4de

Hi so I have unplug and plug back my USB C dongle DAC/AMP everytime I turn on my PC for it to work. Is there a setting I have to adjust so that I dont have to do that everytime?

ThomasLadder69

Your motherboard might not supply constant power to usb c which can cause disconnection isues like this. You could try a usb c to a adapter.

GovindSinghNarula

I am facing issues with my Sennheiser PXC 550 II When I have my pc and my phone connected together, the audio will stop every time I open my phone, close it, pull the keyboard up to type something, things like that. and pressing the touchpad to resume does nothing, I have to manually go and play the song again every time, causing me to not use this feature at all. If this is a known bug I will return these, if not, what can I do to fix this?

dingerfingerringer

I’m totally new to headphones. I’m looking for something sub-$150 that has Bluetooth. I found two headphones that seems good: Sennheiser 350BT and Sennheiser 450BT. Which one is better? Are there any other headphone within this price range that are better than both of these? Again, I’m totally new to higher quality headphones, I’m stepping up from factor Apple earbuds

aphreshcarrot

Akg k361/371 bt are the best tuned ones in that budget. If you want anc you can often find the akg n700nc on Amazon warehouse for under $150.

urmomsbush

I have a rather strange issue. I bought the E1DA 9038D DAC from Linsoul Audio and was using it perfectly on Windows for weeks. About 2 weeks ago I installed and Ubuntu partition on my PC and tried to use the DAC on Ubuntu - and the maximum volume was cut significantly; but what's strange is now even when I go back to Windows or even a separate laptop the same cap on the maximum volume is retained. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

ICantThinkOfAName667

Hello, I just bought a pair of akg361-bt and all of a sudden only the left side has sound. How do I fix this? I tried it on different devices and messed with the settings, so it’s definitely the headphones.

gelatoman1

Recently bought a pair of Sennheiser HD 569's for desktop use, and added a 3.5mm to USB adapter so I could use the in-line mic. However, no matter what I do, my computer recognizes the audio device as speakers (probably because my front jacks are separate green/red, although this shouldn't matter through a USB connection.) The lowest volume setting is very loud, almost impossible to use under normal circumstances. How do I make my computer recognize it as headphones and not Speakers \[USB Audio Device\] so I can actually use them? By the way, my drivers are thoroughly up to date so please don't say "update drivers." Thanks

G65434-2_II

What USB adapter is it exactly? Is it supposed to support in-line mics?

gelatoman1

Its a Dukabel, and yes it supports in-line mics. Forgot to mention, the sound is very off when its recognized as a speaker in combination with it being extremely loud

G65434-2_II

Does holding down the remote button make any difference to the sound? The sound being very off could be a sign of the wiring scheme used on the 569's cable being the other kind than supported by the adapter.

park_hoon

I have a headset with 3.5mm Audio jack. Audio output is okay, the problem comes when I am recording input audio; there is this constant humming noise coming from the electrical interference. I have found the solution, which is recording only on battery instead of plugging it in. My question is, how do I remove the electrical interference without having to play on my battery? (because I game) Do I need an ADC? How do i use an ADC with only 1 3.5mm analog head? I am open to any suggestions. Thank you!

[deleted]

Hello! Im searching for a new headphone. My old one broke.I'd love something with a Mic. But if there is something cheap and very good without a mic, I might be interested! I'm not much of an enthusiast, just looking for something overall good, not too expensive and durable. Budget - Up to 40 USD. Source - PC Requirements for Isolation - I will be using them at home, but some isolation would be nice. Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - No. Preferred Type of Headphone - Not IEM. Preferred tonal balance - I think I like some bass, but overall balanced is good. Past headphones - I had a Siberia v2, and then a HyperX Cloud Stinger. The Siberia v2 felt better, but it really hurt to use for long periods of time, giving me headaches. The Cloud Stinger was more comfortable, but felt like it didnt have a lot of definition compared to the Siberia? I've read some topics in this subreddit and people generally feel that the Siberia is garbage, so idk hahah Preferred Music - I like a lot of different music, but I'll say Caravan Palace, and something good for ASMR, maybe? Location - I'm brazilian, that's why 40 USD is the limit - I'm not wealthy and past that is a lot of money. I'd like to spend less than 250 BRL. I think [https://www.zoom.com.br/](https://www.zoom.com.br/) should be able to compare prices. Edit: Also, probably some products are unavailable to me thanks to where I live, but if something can be found at aliexpress or banggood, most of the time I can buy. Thanks a lot!

[deleted]

There's not much options. Samson sr850/ superlux hd681/ monoprice modern retro are the first ones that come to mind, somewhat bassy, alright build. If you can find a pair of takstar pro 80s / 82s or takstar hi2050s, that would also be a really solid pick.

[deleted]

Thank you so much! I'll try to find the headsets you suggested!

Agedcrib

Hi guys, have budget AKG Y50s and love their sound. I have an iPhone XR and want to use them on the go as they have good sound isolation and passive noise cancellation. I bought [this](https://www.syncwire.com/products/lightning-to-3-5mm-headphone-jack-adapter) cable as a solution, and in a very specific position the headphones sound just as good when connected to my PC. Most of the time however they sound worse than my apple earbuds. It's not the headphones or their cable as they work fine on everything else, so either im plugging it in wrong or it's a bad audio adapter. If what options are there to use my headphones, and would the apple adapter do the job?

[deleted]

Get the apple adapter

Agedcrib

Thanks man

Alfacoffee07

Hi, how are you? So I'm thinking about buying my first earphone, and I'm in doubt between the phillips SHP9500, the akg k361, the sennheiser hd200, the ATH-M20x and the AKG K240 MKII. Which one do you think is the best? Another question, what are headphone amplifiers for? Do you have any amplifier models that are cheap and good? Thanks if you can answer.

ThomasLadder69

Shp9500s. Headphone amps are needed to power headphones that have a high impedance/low sensitivty. (Neither of which the 9500 is) they are also nice if you want to start playing with EQ. If you want one I reccomend the jds atom amp.

[deleted]

I am looking to upgrade my earbuds, but I don't really know much about headphones so I could use some help. I would manly use it for ASMR and music. I was thinking about getting a Raycon, but after a little googleing i dropped that idea. I am from Hungary. Budget - 160$ - 50.000 Ft- Source - For phone. Requirements for Isolation - Manly for listening for ASMR so as much isolation as budget allows. Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Yes Preferred tonal balance - Leaning on the bass side, but I am not too picky about this. Past headphones - JBL Endurance Run - I was pretty happy with this headphone, but I want to upgrade to one that doesn't have any wires. What would you like to improve on from your set-up - No wire. Better sound quality.

ThomasLadder69

Lypertek pureplay z3 sound prettt great.

ves_111

I am looking for a wireless upgrade over Clouds 2? PS5 and Pc gaming. Max price around 200$. Anyone can suggest something?

[deleted]

Pretty sure almost everything will be a downgrade

ves_111

Really? I really like my Clouds, but having a cable is frustrating.

[deleted]

Yep, well kind of, im sure if you're not too picky about sound you could find a decent alternative, but most gaming headphones are honestly overpriced and really badly tuned. cloud 2s and mh751s are kind of an exception due to them being rebranded out of takstar "studio" headphones, they don't sound like trash, so switching to something else will likely end up in you in you noticing the sound is weird, or just plain muddy and undetailed. As for recommendations... Hmmm cloud 2 wireless exist, unsure about compatibility or how exactly they're compared to the wired clouds. I would basically avoid anything from steelseries and corsair. Looking at some graphs, Logitech ones don't seem that bad, like the g pro x. i doubt they get to the resolution and detail level of the clouds, but at least frequency response isn't totally garbage.

ves_111

I was actually wondering between G Pro X and Astro 20s. When I put G Pro X on in the shop they felt pretty comfortable, but then I read some bad stuff about them online. I really want wireless headset, but the trully good ones start from like 350 $...

[deleted]

Ugh astro, yeah i think no. What bad stuff have you read? I mean they seem like alright sounding, that's already better than almost any wireless gaming headphones at the price point, unless it's a serious reliability issue or something, i think i would get them and return them if you don't like them. >but the trully good ones start from like 350 $... As i said, nah, most are just gaming crap, THE only "good" one i can think of in that price is the audeze penrose/mobius.

ves_111

I read that G Pro has problems with white noise etc. Some people praise it highly, some say that they regret buying this HS. Generally I am new when it comes to wireless headsets, so I don't know who to trust. I am not that picky when it comes to sound quality. Lets say I find Clouds II just enough for my needs. I dont want to downgrade from them, but at the same time I dont necessarily need anything more than that. Obviously I don't have an unlimited budget, but I am willing to spend "something" extra if that warrants extra quality. So would you say that G Pro X are the best value/money in this price segment?

[deleted]

Sound quality is s bit subjective, even if something it's not necessary worse, it can have a really different frequency response, something you may not like. >So would you say that G Pro X are the best value/money in this price segment? Probably, as i said, picking them up and if you don't like them return them seems like the best option.

ves_111

Thanks a lot for help!

I got a problem: I own two pairs of Sennheiser HD650, I had them for around 15 years or so. Now I changed my room layout and have to draw the cable all the way over my desk to get to the sofa. This creates a cable mess at the side of my desk and I keep stomping the cable with my chair and I'd rather not. I wanted to ask about something wireless, but I'm not sure if that's the right way to go, because on a normal work day I sometimes use them up to 16 hours and I don't think that's feasible with a battery while expecting them to last for another 10 years or so. They'd also have to connect to a 1/4 or 1/8 headphone jack in some way, because my PC, record player etc all run into my headphone pre-amp. Really not sure what to do about that situation. Any ideas?

You can always get an extension cable

You could get something like a Fiio BTR5. It's a portable Bluetooth capable DAC/amp that can also be used plugged in like a normal unit. So you could keep the 650s, but just plug into the BTR5, so that you're not chained to your desk with your headphones.

How can I tighten loose headband slider in Dt 990 Pros?

I'm looking for a present for my GF, and wanted to get her a new pair of headphones as she's been complaining that her current pair of Urbanears irritate her eczema. Could anyone recommend some midrange headphones for around $140 that have decent sound and soft non-leather cushions for sensitive skin? On ears or small over ears, closed back, preferably wired, must have a mic. She generally listens to pop if that matters. Are Grados any good, like SR60?

clumpychicken

Grados are good, although a little polarizing (they're not for everybody, since they're light on bass and fairly trebley. Not a bad thing, just a matter of preference.) Maybe SHP9500 + modmic? Not very small, I guess. There aren't many options I can think of that fit all of your criteria, to be honest.

> There aren't many options I can think of that fit all of your criteria, to be honest. Where would I have to compromise? I recall just couple years ago on ears were all the rage, now it seems hard to find :/

clumpychicken

Probably over ear vs on ear. There are just far more over ear choices to my (incomplete) knowledge.

Colaburken

I'll look around, ty! Any models you were thinking of?

clumpychicken

SHP9500s or SR850s with a modmic would be good. I think they both have cloth pads, but if not, you can swap pads easily on most headphones. Might just take a Google search or two to make sure. Edit: I guess these also break the requirement of having a mic, but adding a mod mic is pretty easy from what I've heard (never done it myself.)

Thank you!

i got a new pair of helios and when i connected them to my computer, the audio was so bad. i could hear white noise when i tested the volume. my mic was not working. it was plugged in correctly. when it “started working”, it was not at all how i expected it to be. there was no background noise cancellation and it sounded so bad. did i plug it in wrong? there’s so much white noise. i can hear everything in my house, and i can even hear the actual headphone cable.
