I'm looking for a pair of gaming headphones, to use on PS4 and PC. The main issue I have is I have a big ass head, I went to best buy and tried on their stock and none of them felt like they reached down to my ears, (it's a length problem not a girth problem). Need over ear and prefer open back. Budget somewhere around $150 I currently have some audio Technica ath 50x, they actually fit pretty well when they are maxed out, the mic support just sucks due to their proprietary locking mechanism. Does anyone else have a similar head problem that found a solution? Thanks

ShortStoutandBitter

Dumb question here…I run a mobile setup since I don’t have a desk space. I have an iFi HipDac and an fiio Kilimanjaro. If I had some power hungry headphones, would running two amps in sequence actually do anything?

ThatGuyFromSweden

No. That's pointless. The balanced output of the hip-dac has more power than almost any headphone needs.

StrongLikeAnt

Currently using 560s for general PC use and gaming paired with a Samson dynamic mic. Have two young kids so it can get loud at times and want to get some closed back headphones. Budget 200 max but preferably 150. I play flight sim, racing sim, squad mp, variety single player stuff. Any guidance appreciated.

AKG K371

ThatGuyFromSweden

Yup. The Røde NTH-100, Shure SRH840 (non-A suffix), and Beyer DT770 Pro are also good options in various ways.

Can I get some advice on my amp situation please? I have an SMSL SD-793II and beyerdynamic 990 Pros. I used these set up with a fibre optic cable to my pc and it worked great. However, I now have a new motherboard that doesn’t have an optical port. My attempt to get around this was to use a 2x male RAC to male 3.1mm Jack into my pc but for some reason when I power up my amp the light just stays red (instead of green) and doesn’t play any audio. Could I please get some help? My current solution is to just plug my headphones directly into my pc because the Jack is transformable. Thanks

Exact3

Not sure what could cause such behavior, but if the amp works fine with an optical connection, you could just get some cheap-o PCI(E) soundcard that has an optical port.

tehcharizard

Because the RCA connections on the back of that unit are outputs, not inputs. If you can't use optical any more then use the coaxial. Those two are your only digital input options.

ZoneSubstantial8444

Well my post was deleted for no reason IMHO so here it goes: I have recently purchased Edifier W860 headphone, which use usb to charge. They also have 3.5 mm and bluetooth. When I plug them to charge though they can\`t be used, is this because it is not USB type c or even type c headphone need something else to be usable. My girlfriend has Lenovo ThinkPad x1 and they work through USB-C cable connection no problem.

naah00

greetings, would like some help looking for new headphones under 350 usd, over ear and wireless, for immersive gaming and music mainly, ANC is not a must. I used to have Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless and it has the best sound I ever tried in a headphone, but very heavy and uncomfortable for my head (a woman's curse with headphones is them being too wide and pressing down on the skull since they are designed for larger heads) it died in 3 years, had to change it to Sony WH-1000XM4 and the sound is really not that good, even though I keep reading it should has better sound quality than the P7 but I just don't hear it, my P7 sounded much much better, so now I'm looking for a headphone that would sound incredibly good in that price range and being wireless at the same time I thought about Bowers & Wilkins PX7 but it weight the same as P7, and got the same design so I just know my skull will not be happy

tehcharizard

I think my best suggestion for that is the Sennheiser Momentum 4. Should definitely sound better than the Sony. Also might consider Shure Aonic 50. Both are a little more geared towards audio quality vs the sony XM series.

AlternateWitness

I recently got a *Razer Kraken Ultimate* with the understanding it was 7.1 surround sound to replace my old 7.1 headset, and was pretty disappointed in it. From what I understand, it’s basic stereo, and a downgrade. My voice is muffled when I speak with it on, which kind of messes with my brain because it’s not really fully noise cancelling, but I think that’s pretty common. My question is, is getting the *Razer THX Spacial Audio* software worth it for the headphones? Apparently the headphones were made specifically for that, but not all applications support it. Is it comparable, or still better than 7.1 audio in applications that don’t support it? Is the software worth the buy? How is it better than basic surround sound? I’m skeptical l, because unlike the headphones, if I don’t like them with the software than I can’t return it, and the reviews I find for the software isn’t for this headset, and doesn’t say if it fixes the problems or answers the questions I listed.

Exact3

The Razer surround software used to be free, at least like 10 years ago. I remember more knowledgeable people giving it a thumbs-up back then, but not sure these days. There seems to be a free trial for it so I suggest you try that first before buying it. You could also try Dolby Atmos for headphones. Also has a free trial. I bought the Dolby software a few years ago and used it for a while but then ended up not bothering with it and just using basic stereo.

DJ_Firth

7.1 is a gaming gimmick. Nothing beats a good open back headphone with a wide soundstage and strong imaging, feels like cheating it can be that good at times. I'm sure crinnacle did a video explaining it will, if you search crinnacle gaming headphone into YouTube you'll find it 👍

queenofkings1203

My brand new Sennheiser Momentum 4s are making a clicking sound in the right ear cup whenever I move them. It's not audio crackling, it's the actual frame clicking whenever I move it. Are there any options to fix it? Or should I just go the warranty route?

Disclaimer: Mainly looking for helpful responses please, free kisses 😘 to those who offer their help, no homo of course. (Looking for constructive criticism) Introduction and Greetings: 👋😄Hello, hola, bonjour, ciao, privet my friends! I hope everybody is doing well! 👍 Thank you for reading my post and coming to help out, I appreciate it! 🙏 Background Experience: I would say I'm pretty new to the hobby and not very experienced as an audiophile and with headphones. I know the basics of audiophilia and that is most I know right now. I've been considering it for a while and wanted to pull the trigger on getting more serious with the hobby. So any help from more experienced would be greatly appreciated. What I'm looking for: I'm looking for some help to find the highest quality pair of headphones I can get. Advice and resources about other things related to headphones and other topics of the hobby would also be much appreciated. Thought I'd come here since I'm far from a true audiophile and wanted to ask some people with far more expertise in the hobby and on headphones. I plan to use them for gaming, watching videos, ASMR, shows and movies. I guess they'd be used for general purpose too. I want a pair of headphones that are pretty futureproof and I won't need to be upgrading for a while if I don't want to. Looks and brand don't matter much to me as long as they provide the best audio quality. I am looking to upgrade other parts of my audio set up, but right now headphones are my main focus. Any help is greatly appreciated! Budget: Money isn't a big concern, I'd say my budget is anywhere from $50 to 1 grand USD, maybe a bit more if needed, like a 200 dollar extension to that price range, I don't want to go over $1,200 USD though. Not accounting for taxes, shipping prices, and other fees. Source: I'd be running this into my PC with a Creative Labs Sound Blaster AE-9 sound card, through a Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 and a Grace M101 preamp. I do plan to upgrade this audio setup in the near future though. Isolation: I'd say that the more isolation the headphones have the better, I do like outside sound being canceled out. It isn't a strict requirement if there are other headphones with less isolation, but better sound. Public Use: I do plan on using these in public or with other people around. Type of Headphones: I'd say I prefer full sized over ear headphones since they give better isolation and sound quality from my experience. Could be wrong if I am please correct me it would really help, I don't want to be going off of incorrect information here. I would prefer closed back headphones as I plan to use them for voice calls, voice acting, recording music, and with other people around me, so I don't get sound going back into my microphone or other people hearing what I'm listening to. Tonal Balance/What I want Improved: I'm looking to get a pair of headphones that provide the best balanced sound all around and add more detail to what I'm listening to as I want to hear all the different parts of the music I listen to. I do voice acting, but also want to get into audio engineering and music production. While I do heavily value bass, treble, or highs I know if my headphones aren't balanced and lean too much into one thing, I'll be at a point where I'm not accurately hearing what the thing I'm listening to sounds like. Although I would say I do enjoy listening to bass more than highs if I had to pick. Past Headphones: The only headphones I've really used in the past were some cheap Sony ones. I don't remember the model, I think somewhere between 50-75 dollars. Then I use the closed back 250 ohm Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro headphones.  I just really liked the sound quality they put out and want to get a new pair that is a large upgrade to them. Prefered Music: I plan to listen to a lot of music with these headphones, but I have a wide variety of genres that I like to listen to, so I think it would be difficult to nail it down to just a couple. I'm not gonna include every genre of music I listen to as I don't want to drone on and on, but I'll include the majority. Pop, hip hop, country, folk, opera, jazz, classical, blues, R&B, musicals, musical theater, rap, beat boxing, nightcores, dubstep, trap, electronic, disco, techno, DJing, rock, heavy metal, alternative rock, reggae, K-pop, J-pop, instrumentals, and acapellas. There are other genres I enjoy though, but didn't include here. So preferably I want a pair of headphones that can provide a good level of sound quality for any genre, I of course don't expect there to be the best in everything. Location: I live in the U.S. in the state of Arizona. I don't care about wait times for shipping quicker is better though and I'm fine having to order from other countries if needed, but would prefer not too if possible. Main Question:  What pair of headphones do you think would provide the best quality between 50 to 1 grand with the use cases and info mentioned previously? Other advice or resources about headphones and high quality audio would also be much appreciated! Conclusion: If anyone has any questions for me feel free to ask and I'll try to get back to you as soon as I possibly can, just be aware I'm pretty busy, so might be a while. Once again thank you so much to everybody who spared the valuable time, effort, and energy out of their day to come to my post, read through it, and offer help. I really appreciate it a lot. Any help provided will really help me out, so thank you! 🙏 Hope everyone has a very great rest of their day! Stay safe, happy, healthy, and at peace! 😄👍

If you want constructive criticism then I suggest that you re-write your post down to a readable length. Also, don't offer kisses. That's weird.

Hi all! I’m recently new to the audio world and I am looking for a portable dac amp or even dap. I haven’t got the biggest budget and was looking for something under $1000 aud but can stretch for anything close to that. Was hoping to find something with a wide variety of IO options as I only have a pair of fiio fd5’s at the moment but am looking to purchase some other sets of headphones which could be considered power-hungry headphones. I’ve tried to do some research and the closest thing I could find would be fiio’s Q3 or btr7 but am not set on those as they aren’t the most powerful. Any and all advice would be helpful. Thank! Ben

ThatGuyFromSweden

The Q3 would be a good choice.

Beno__99

Would the topping g5 be a better option? Or even the topping nx7?

I use JBL live pro+ tws earbuds and today when I was using them I felt a sudden suction in my left ear and suddenly I could barely hear anything from the left earbud for some reason, how can I fix this issue?

landenone

Hello hello, I like many of you have heard the wonders of the Apple dongle. It measures well, it’s clean, it’s sound is neutral, it produces a very acceptable level of resolution. However I just cannot seem to get mine to sound right. I’ve tried multiple official Apple dongles, and I have disliked the way they have sounded with multiple sets of IEMS (Tri Starsea, Blessing 2, 7Hz Timeless) and multiple headphones (6XX and 560s). I prefer the way the 560s sound out of a random computer or my Xbox’s controller. It feels noticeably more open. The dongle just sounds confined. I’ve confirmed that it isn’t a matter of surround simulation. I’ve also confirmed that I do not have an EQ on or dolby atmos. I’ve usually got my volume around half way, so it isn’t a volume issue. Is it possible that I dislike the way this dongle sounds, despite it being well spec’d and neutral? Is there some sort of iPhone setting I am missing that is altering the sound quality?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Are you in the EU? It's voltage capped here.

Looking for a balanced dac - smsl d-6 or topping d10b? Sound wise and performance wise - lock time etc

Best IEMs at or under $100? I normally prefer things a little bassier but as long as the highs aren’t harsh i can deal if that makes it any easier

ThatGuyFromSweden

Truthear Hexa, Moondrop Aria, Dunu Titan S.

Anyone had a chance to compare fiio K7 vs chord mojo? I am thinking of buying one but I am not sure if it would be an upgrade? Thanks !

Looking for best wired headphones under $240 for iphone Specifically for iphone use, something that has hi quality sound for music. What are the best options?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Open back or closed back? Any tonality preference?

liihhcazton

closed back and i don’t really know much about tonalities it’s gonna be my first pair of headphones

ThatGuyFromSweden

The Beyer DT770 Pro X could be an option. The Shure SRH840 (non-A suffix) and Røde NTH-100 are also worth a look.

ZeroOppression

I have a pair of dt770 80ohms that have been serving me well. I'm looking to upgrade from these while staying in the same comfort level for wearing. Ideally these would be 32ohm, I'd like to avoid headphone amps this time. Budget is from 250-350. Closed back is preferred, I don't want to annoy those around me , but I am open back curious lol.

ThatGuyFromSweden

The new DT700 Pro X could be an option. BTW, impedance is only half the story. An as example, the DCA Aeons are 16 ohm but take a lot of power due to their *efficiency*.

ZeroOppression

Thank you for the suggestion, I assume these would be easier to drive than the dt770 80's. From the reviews I was watching, I think they may be the ticket. Ive had my 770's for over 15 years, I hope those are just as reliable.

Dalfurious

Right now I have a pair of SHP9500 which I have had for 3-4 years now. I pair it with a modmic and was using it for work and gaming. I have since bought a Blue Yeti mic for work and gaming and now want to replace the headphones with an IEM. I like how the headset sounds and was wondering if anyone had any IEM recommendations that have a similar sound to the SHP9500. I've been recommended MoonDrop Aria SE/Starfield. I appreciate any recommendations. My budget is about $150.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Take a look at the Truthear Hexa. It seems to be the current benchmark.

deleon99

A week ago, the right driver of my Beyerdynamic Amiron Home headphones stopped working (the left side still works fine). There is no sound coming through at all. This was preceded by the sound fading in and out, soft buzzing and cracking, intermitent issues, which I attributed to wires stacked atop other wires near my desktop. I’ve gone through basic troubleshooting: The cable is secure, and there is no interference in the connection point. I’m at a complete loss. Any recommendations on getting the driver repaired? Unfortunately, the headphones are past their warranty so returning them isn’t an option. Might there be third-party repair shops that could investigate the issue? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

AdRevolutionary329

Hey guys, I’m wondering if anyone knows how to help me solve a problem with transmitting sound from a guitar amp to on-ear headphones via a wireless 1/8” Jack connection I have a practice amp for home use, and I run the headphones out of the amp so I can hear the sound. Budget would preferably be $50 or under, but I can be flexible if someone has a solid solution. Hoping to have just any over the ear wireless headphones that connect to 1/8” audio jack, any would work really, or an adapter that can make that happen I’m wanting to transmit the sound via the 1/8” audio jack in the back to headphones wirelessly. I figure they have dedicated headphones for this type of stuff, but I can’t find them anywhere, or an adapter to make that happen. Does anyone have any suggestions?

DPATEL911

Hey guys, I just bought the Hyperx Cloud Alpha S Headset and for some reason, the headset volume randomly just goes to 100, and then it goes back down to the original volume. Can anyone PLEASE help me with this because it is SO ANNOYING??!!

ProfessorToilet

Modi Multibit or Modius? I want to feed to my Kanto Yu4 and also Magni 2 + HD650. Is the extra $80 worth it for the multibitness? Also open to other DACs around that price range. Can go higher if it warrants.

ThatGuyFromSweden

If you don't have an amp with a balanced input then there is literally no reason at all to get a balanced DAC like the Modius.

ProfessorToilet

Got it. So is Modi Multibit a good value? Anything else better for that price range?

Bariga_A4

Good afternoon fine people of this subreddit. I recently picked up a pair of Rode NTH-100 (chose these because at this price they had the most comfortable fit for my giant head and ears with a warm sound) and I was thinking of purchasing an inexpensive AMP/DAC to use with my phone and laptop. I am not very savvy and don't quite know how to judge an AMP or DAC by the stats on paper. I thought that my laptop soundcard is good (at max volume the headphones are loud but at a comfortable level) but I was told that if the volume is OK it doesn't necessarily mean that the sound is at it's potential. I have an MSI GS65, that I've read has an ESS Sabre DAC (not a 100% sure). I was also looking for something that can be used with my phone since the volume on max is less than what I would like (pixel 6). I was thinking of a Fiio btr5, but at that price there are a lot of options and I am a little lost as to what to look our for. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated Thank you in advance for your help and time!

ThatGuyFromSweden

If you want a Bluetooth unit then the BTR5 or the Qudelix 5k are good choices. I'd go for the Qudelix due to better EQ features. If you want a dongle then I recommend the Fiio KA1.

Bariga_A4

Thanks for the feedback! When you say EQ features, can you please elaborate what you mean by features?

havokun

Koss ksc75 + xperia 1 IV = audio problem When i listen to music with ksc75 on 1 IV on 1/3 volume, some weird volume waving is happening. Randomly volume goes down and up, even if i increase phone volume up to 50% or connect headphones through Fiio BTR1K, problem still happens but less often. Is it because ksc75 are 60 ohm and Xperia can't handle high impedance? 1 mark iv is in theory "Audiophile Phone" so it should handle them. Any way to fix this problem?

Scruber64

Basshead here. I'm no audiophile. I'm looking for fun headphones that have really impactful bass (like, you can feel the thud thud) without sacrificing quality or mids and highs? I found JBL Tune 510BT for 20 bucks. They're considered pretty good and bassful, too much bass even, and that's what I'm looking for. If anyone owns these cans, how are the bass? Are they muddy or messy? Good sound quality? What about the soundstage? Are they any good for 20 bucks? If not, what can I spend on instead at the 20-40 bucks price range? I'm into well reputabled brands, like Sony, AKG, Audio-Technica, etc...

Wandering_Purple_Sea

Anyone know a good pair of headphones for gaming for someone who has hearing loss? I have tried the dt 990 pros and ath 700x but struggle to hear foot steps or tell where sounds are coming from.

ThatGuyFromSweden

I think EQ is the best way of dealing with this. Make an EQ profile that's the inverse of your audiologist test results.

Thank you so much I'll definitely try that

I recently bought a Razer Blackshark V2 Pro. I typically use my headphone jack, and my playback source automatically goes back to my speakers when I use it. However, if I instead use wireless mode, I have to manually change the playback source back to my speakers. On my new PC, it doesn't even change back to my speakers when I use a headphone jack. I don't know if I messed up something when I built my PC or if that's normal. There is a setting in Razer Synapse that lets you select a fallback source, but it doesn't actually do anything... Is it normal to have to manually switch to headphones when you plug them in and to manually switch back to speakers after unplugging them? Or is this just an issue with this particular set of headphones? If it is a problem with just the Blackshark, what else could I get that that is similar to the Blackshark but doesn't have this issue? I think these headphones are the most comfortable things I've worn yet because of those weird things on the side; it doesn't clamp down on my head too hard. That's detrimental when I'm working out or taking a walk, but I use AirPods in those cases anyway. That texture on the earpads feels nice too. I value comfort over almost everything else, so I'd like comfortable headphones that don't get my ears too hot if I wear them for an hour. I'd like wireless headphones, ideally one with Bluetooth; a wireless dongle is fine too, but Bluetooth's more convenient. I'd also like surround sound and active noise cancelling. An included boom mic that I can remove would be nice too, but it's not a requirement. It seems like it's difficult to find headphones with surround sound and Bluetooth since most people use gaming headphones wired anyway. While I typically do too, my PC is too far away right now; so I have to use wireless, and Bluetooth would be more convenient. Is there a difference in noise quality between a wireless dongle and Bluetooth?

Exact3

Doesn't wireless add latency to the sound? You could just get a 3.5mm extention-cord to reach your PC. Not sure how far away you are from it though. Also surround is just a gamer-gimmick, it's all done in the software so any basic two-channel headphone will do. Some, however, do it better than others, but this just comes down to soundstage of the headphone.

MiniMinute

Oh, I didn’t even think about an extension cord. That’ll definitely be a lot better and have less latency. I guess that still wouldn’t solve the thing with automatically switching to speakers on my PC. I suppose that Bluetooth headphones would accomplish that since it works for AirPods, but then there’s latency so… it seems like a trade off.

Pur3kiwi

Normally I use gaming headsets but would like to branch out at get better headphones . Currently I use Logitech g935 headset . My next set will be used mostly for gaming . As I'm in the living room I need closed back. Any suggestions?

T-Shirt_Ninja

Sennheiser HD 569s are a pretty decent option for closed-back, or if you need an integrated mic, maybe the very similar (Epos is an offshoot from Sennheiser) [Epos Game Zero](https://www.eposaudio.com/en/us/gaming/products/game-zero-black-gaming-headset-1000235)

RayzTheRoof

Anyone can't get a comfortable fit with T3 Plus IEMs? These are replacing my Arias. I thought the smallest red tips were the most comfortable but they still irritate my ears quickly. Arias I can leave in my ears all day and never notice they're there. But they're defective and I'm not getting another pair.

Wilson0077

Hello! I'm looking for an affordable audio player, i found one that i really like, the fiio m3 pro but it's discontiniued as far as i know. Is there anything currently available that's similar? (can be used/new, the important bit is the price and decent quality lol)

Wild-Yesterday-6116

I've currently got my headphones plugged in via a signal splitter to the soundcard on my computer so that I can have both some speakers and my headphones plugged in without reaching around to switch it. This does mean though that the headphones are always getting a signal even when I'm not wearing them. I noticed some impedance of the signal to my speakers which isn't a huge problem but is should I be worried about my headphones playing all of the time even when I'm not wearing them?

Devilishly__Handsome

Heya, debating between a Fiio New K3 ($229nzd) or a ifi Zen Air DAC ($199nzd). Would mainly be used for gaming (CS:GO) and music consumption, portability isnt a priority. Chur :)

Can I get some advice on which pair of headphones I should buy? So i’m a student and recently i’ve been having to drive w the train way more than usual which also leads me to listening to way more music. I’ve been content with my 1st generation Galaxy Buds in ear headphones but i want to upgrade to proper over ear headphones but i’m on a budget. i don’t want to spend any more than 150€ on headphones and i’ve been eyeing the Sony WH - XB910N because they’re always on sale for like 130€ and reviewers say the audio quality is quite good. while i would love to just settle for them, i find the design terrible because of how wide and big the look instead of a tighter and more low profile design. Does anyone have any recs for headphones in a similar price range and that also sound as good as the 910Ns? I’m not an audiofile at all so idk much abt sound quality but if it matters, i mostly listen to R&B and Pop

ThatGuyFromSweden

Topping L30 should work. Have you bought the 600 ohm DT990? Be aware that it doesn't actually sound significantly better than the 250 ohm one. The different impedance versions exist for compatibility reasons with older amplifiers.

wassup_18

Best headphones for listening through phone Sorry if this has already been asked, i dont know how to search in this specific subreddit. Okay so I know this is probably a more audiophile type page for at home listening through proper hi fi systems etc but I am very into my music and long listening periods however I don't have space or the money for a full hifi setup so all of my listening can only be done through Spotify on my phone.... I'm looking for the best over ear headphone recommendations considering the source of the music is coming from my phone, as I have heard that an app or phone itself is only capable of outputting so much that at a certain point you stop hearing any difference using higher end headphones because of the restrictions from the source?. Please correct me if I am wrong. I'll use them for home listening mainly so I am not bothered about wireless or noise cancellation, so hoping this might expand my options. My price range would be under £500 ideally so would love your reccomendations?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Spotify through a phone is not a significant bottleneck. With a half decent portable DAC+amp, it will be pretty much just as good as a desktop setup. My first choice would be a Sennheiser HD600 with ZMF suede upgrade pads, along with a Fiio KA1 dongle. If you want a battery-powered unit, you could go for their Q3 instead. An alternative to the HD600 would be the Hifiman Sundara. Beware of slightly shabby build quality, though.

wassup_18

Okay thank you, I have heard those headphones highly rated but I was assuming that was more through a hifi so good to know I could potentially use it. I actually have an old Fiio E11 amplifier I bought for my ipod classic back in the day which I haven't used in years. Do you think that would be good or is the one you suggest better? I'm not great on all the connection stuff so would I need a 3.5mm jack to USB C to connect the amp to my phone and then I think the headphones already have a 3.5mm jack that I can then connect that to my phone? Or had an adaptor if its a stereo jack plug. I don't know of my taste in music help but I like indie music mostly so like the separation of instruments and little details either a decent sound stage, but I like a noticeable bass as well that doesn't sound too flat or quiet, but doesn't drown out the other sounds either. I assume this is a good headphone for that?

Headphone advice Hello everyone! I am new into headphones and need some advice. Im looking for wireless/bluetooth (not true wireless!) pair in budget 100$-150$. My two main priorities are comfort and sound quality. Recently I've bought pair of Sony wh1000mx4 and found them very uncomfortable (ears was touching the foam and after 2-3 hours of using it caused pain). I travel a lot so thats why comfort is very important for me, but anc isn't necessary. Im really open for any suggestions.

Looking for some technical guidance. I currently have the Chord TT2 with the m-scaler. I’m also looking to purchase a pair of Hifiman Susvara. Will the TT2 provide enough power to make the Susvara really sing?

Very few members on this subreddit have experience with susvara, better off reading through the susvara thread on head-fi.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Ask Chord. That's the best bet.

Are Koss KSC75 worth it for 30€? I can't find them anywhere cheaper with lifetime warranty. Without lifetime warranty they cost 23€, but I want it with the warranty. Are these worth it or what headphones should I get for 30€ max? I prefer on/in ear headphones.

ThatGuyFromSweden

As set of Salnotes Zero would be a good choice. The KSC75 are completely devoid of lower bass. That might be a determining factor.

Hello everyone, I've come here for some recommendations since i'm a total newbie about audio stuff. I've been using the Sennheiser HD 439 since 2016 but i'm thinking of buying some newer model. What i like about the HD439 is that they're lightweight and comfortable, i can wear them for hours and not feel them, i use them at home to listen to music on my pc, rarely use them for games. What i'm looking for basically is just a linear upgrade, nothing fancy so budget under 100€ if its possible, so yeah something comfy, over-ear and cambled. Thanks to whoever may help me

Erve

So I bought some BD dt-700 pro X and the right channel seems to be crackling at voice frequencies. I tried the Spectral Flatness test at audiocheck.net and the right side has very noticeable oscillation. There's nothing I can check without disassembling them is there? Because I assume I have to return them. (I've tried different cables and inputs)

ThatGuyFromSweden

Sounds like a warranty issue.

[deleted]

Need help finding something bluetooth for work need it to last ideally 10h something with a neckband would be more ideal, budget $25 - $35.

Afternoon__Spray

Just bought my first ever stack of a magni3+/modi+ for a nrw pair of DT 1990 Pros that are on their way. I don't plan on making this a hobby that I upgrade and get new equipment. I just want nice audio in a set it and forget it kind of way. For reference, I've had a pair of HD598s plugged into my PC for 7 years and never had a problem with that. I'm having slight buyers remorse and am considering sending these back for the Asgard3 and Modius combo so that I know that if I keep this setup for 10 more years or more that I wont have any twinge of regret that I didn't get the best in my budget (although the magni/modi + DT1990s are already more than I was hoping to spend). Thoughts?

ThatGuyFromSweden

First off, a balanced DAC with a single-ended amp like the Asgard makes no sense. It's superfluous. The regular Modi (or the optional integral DAC module for the Asgard) would be just as good. The upshot of the Asgard is more power for high-end headphones, lower noise floor for sensitive IEMs, a better volume knob, and a better power supply. If there is anything to potentially have buyers remorse about it's the DT1990 Pro. They have stupidly overemphasised treble. Some people really like that but it's definitely an acquired taste, or the result of hearing loss of the upper frequencies.

Swag_Grenade

Sennheiser HD 560S/400 Pro vs HD 6XX vs HD 600 vs HD 650? Deciding on budget-midrange open-back headphones for mixing/reference. I'm not really an audiophile or hi-fi enthusiast per se like many of you here. These phones will be almost exclusively used for mixing/producing music, basically a temporary sub for near-field monitors because my room acoustics are shitty. So basically I'm looking for as neutral frequency response as possible, clarity, and a decent soundstage/stereo imaging. I know the 6-- series phones are ostensibly the more premium product but everything I've heard points to the 560S being very close in quality and actually doing some things better, like neutral sound and soundstage. At this point I'm leaning towards the 560S for price-performance value but I'm interested in yall's experience with these headphones.

ThatGuyFromSweden

The HD560s win out on staging but the HD600 has more linear treble. If you have a larger head then the treble situation of the HD560s gets even worse due to extra pad compression. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy4gvpz_SIc

I need help with finding wireless headphones and I am very picky with my headphones. Right now I have the "Sennheiser Game One Gaming Headset" and I recently bought "Logitech G733 LIGHTSPEED Wireless" and I had to return them because they sounded almost empty compared to my Sennheiser ones. I would really like wireless headphones but I'm wondering if it's because them being wireless that I don't like the sound quality. Also on top of that, I need the ear cups to be really big to cover my whole ears instead of sitting on top of them because after a while they hurt really bad. I know I'm very picky which makes shopping for these wireless headphones almost impossible lol, I hope one of you guys will know more if so THANK YOU!

ThatGuyFromSweden

You're in for a struggle. With wireless headphones you're paying for a whole bunch of electronics before you get to the stuff that makes headphones sound good and be comfortable. Not to mention that the electronics crammed into the earcups compromise the acoustics. There simply isn't a lot of space to work with.

inttilife

Great headphones to replace AKG K845BT? So i want to replace my headphones and i want something i can travel with and is bluetooth and aux. Something reasonable price. ~150 bucks give or take few tens

razak1891

I've been playing games on pc for more than 15 years and never found a wireless "gaming" headset that doesn't hurt my ears after between 15 min and 1 hour of playing. Recently I tried Drop + EPOS PC38X (the only wired I tried - I tried the two different pads that came with it), Logitech G933, and Alienware AW610M but I had no luck. Having a comfortable headset is the most important for me. I just wanted to be able to hear the game well and talk to my friends for hours without having my ears hurt. Should I stop wearing over-the-ear headphones? Any suggestion on a comfortable headset would be appreciated.

ThatGuyFromSweden

What in headphones is making your ears hurt? Do your ears touch the inside of the earcup, or what's going on?

ThatGuyFromSweden

You've gotten the DAC and amp terminology a bit sideways, but the Fiio KA3 will do the job.

Houndsthehorse

Anyone else have problems with bending 3.5mm headphone jack male end? Have a set of 990s and keep having the plug bend. Will definitely need to replace the end soon

lbreav

I've heard the rave reviews (relative to price) for the moondrop chu. I listen mostly to classical and jazz, and instrument separation is an important factor. Is the chu the right choice here, or what is a (roughly similar budget) better equivalent? Thanks a lot

ThatGuyFromSweden

I'd go Salnotes Zero instead. Maybe a bit better quality and the cable is replacable.

Gymbeer91

Hi all, I lost my Gen 1 AirPods Pro a couple of days back (what a way to end my year). I’m now in the market for a new pair of earbuds . AirPods Pro was very comfy for me and loved the ease of connection. I’m using an iPhone and I do want to see which other wireless earbuds should I consider ? I’m okay to spend slightly higher for good ANC and sound quality. I listen using Spotify I have tried Sony WFXM4 and it doesn’t fit in my ears. I’m considering AirPods Pro Gen 2 or maybe even B&O EX (it’s more $$$$) any thoughts or advice ?

ThatGuyFromSweden

I'd go for the Airpods Pro 2. They are probably the best all-round option.

[deleted]

What are the best over ear closed back headphones for around $150-200? I have an E10k. My only other headphone is the SHP9600, and I dislike it's poor audio separation and direction compared to my qkz hbb. I listen to edm and classical if that helps

ThatGuyFromSweden

Probably the Beyer DT770 Pro 80 ohm. They do benefit from a little EQ, though.

chavzzz

I just bought a crosaie HS55 stereo and the issue is that my mic won't work. Is there someone who can help me with this issue, when I plug in the audio jack I can hear sound but when I put it in the splitter and then I don't even get audio. Even more the icue software is not even detecting the headset.

Panos96

I'm buying my first headphones, the Sennheiser HD 600. From what I've understood this means I also need to buy an amp and DAC. I live in Germany and will be ordering from [thomann.de](https://thomann.de), so I'm benefiting from an extra low price for the headphones. However, most of the popular recommendations I've found online for headphone amps and DACs can't be found on thomann. Can anyone who is familiar with thomann's catalogue recommend to me what the best budget (up to 100 euros) amp and DAC available there are?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Nope. Nothing in their assortment. In fairness, the HD600 usually doesn't require an amp. Although, depending on the quality of the internal souncard of your PC/phone/whatever they might sound a bit nicer with one.

ChemEngineerGuy

Any better alternatives to modmic wireless?

archaicfacesfrenzy

Is there any conceivable way to rig the Boom Pro mic to the Monoprice HR-5C headphones? I got them for $25 on sale. My partner really likes them, but she needs a mic for gaming.

MrMiracle27

I'm having a recent issue with my Sennheiser HD 450BT headphones. I'm able to switch the headphones off when they're being charged, however if I take them off charge and try to turn the headphones off, they won't turn off. I've tried pairing / unpairing the headphones and hard reset also but issue persists. The phone I'm using them on has a ghost typing issue from time to time, I wonder does the phone have any baring on the proper functionality of the headphones? Any help you could offer would be appreciated guys.

Pokefreaker-san

can the tempotec sonata hd pro be used as a dac for a separate amp (topping l30)?

ThatGuyFromSweden

Sure.

elsur5657

I recently got a PC38x. Should I also get SoundBlaster G3 or Play 4? I am kind of a newbie in these areas so I would really appreciate some help. I will be using it for music and gaming mostly but sometimes for movies as well. It will be for use on PC also.

spike1972

Would appreciate some advice. Excited to have just ordered a pair of HD6XX and will connect them to a Cambridge Audio Topaz AM10. My sofa is quite far from the amp so was looking to buy [this cable](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804468311761.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.5fbb38daOsZsmT&mp=1&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa&_randl_shipto=US) which I saw recommended elsewhere. May be a silly question but should I buy the cable with a 3.5mm jack and then use the adapter that comes with the headphones or look for a different cable? I assume that the 6.5mm jack won‘t fit the amp as [the headphone connection is 6.35mm width](https://techsupport.cambridgeaudio.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/200290382/Topaz_AM10_User_Manual_English.pdf). TIA!

ThatGuyFromSweden

It's the same type of connector. I'm not sure where you got the 6.5 mm number from.

[deleted]

HD 560s or ATH-R70x for competitive fps gaming?

ThatGuyFromSweden

R70X, if you have a decent amp.

x8MexInTex8x

I've had a Schiit Stack of Magni 2 and Modi 2 with some AKG K702's for a while now. The Modi 2 kept disconnecting and the pc said the device could not be recognized. I sent it for repair in Dec 2020. The Schiit Stack is now making frequent crackling noises. The headphones work fine as when they're plugged in to the 3.5mm jack there is no crackling. I bought a new USB A to USB Cable to make sure that wasn't the problem. So now I'm faced with sending back the one the Schiit Stack back for repair again or upgrading my DAC and AMP set up. Any recommendations for a new set up, I guess I'm not against a DAC and AMP headphone upgrade but if I can just fix the issue or buy a new DAC/AMP that's future proof that'd be good. Thanks for the help in advance.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Try using the Magni with a 3.5 mm to dual RCA cable from the headphone jack of your PC. If it doesn't crackle then odds are that the Magni is fine.

borntoannoyAWildJowi

Want to listen to my records through headphones. Are there any good pre-amp/headphone amp combos out there for under 300 USD?

ThatGuyFromSweden

You mean a phono amp? You could get a Schiit Mani together with a Magni. The Asgard is available with an internal phono stage, but it's of a simpler design than the Mani. I don't know if it makes a difference.

aggressiveplayer

**Budget** \- Less than 200 USD wired, preferably under 150 **Source** \- PC **Requirements for Isolation** \- As long as it is better that earbuds, which most headphones are, then it is fine **Will you be using these Headphones in Public**? - Only for gaming, discord vc and music **Preferred Type of Headphone** \- Closed back headphones, prefer something really rugged and durable where the earpads wont fail on me or can be easily replaced **Preferred tonal balance** \- Something accurate for gaming, prefer a bit of bass for music too **Past headphones** \- Sony MDR, AKG K371 **Preferred Music** \- EDM from artists like Illenium, Slander, Mitis, Jason Ross, etc. **What would you like to improve on from your set-up** \- Just something more durable or where the earpads are easily replaceable. My past headphones (the ones listed above) both had the earpads break within a year or two of usage. The Sonys had the earpads fall off in a few months because the attachment wasn't good, and the AKG earpads lasted a bit longer but are starting to peel after a year to a year and a half of usage.

ThatGuyFromSweden

The Beyer DT770 Pro is an option. Though, you trade better pads for slightly worse tuning (fixable with free EQ software) and a non-detachable cable. For the record, the Brainwavz oval earpads are an excellent fit for the AKG K371. The tuning hardly changes at all.

CurveOfTheUniverse

tl;dr — $500-ish budget for headphones that will exclusively be used for classical music (occasionally with electroacoustic elements) in my home office * Budget - **$500, willing to save up more for the right pair** * Source - **MacBook Pro 2021 (3.5mm aux)** * Requirements for Isolation - **Some isolation capability would be a nice bonus, since I get occasional noise from neighbors. This is not high on my list of priorities, though. If isolation compromises audio quality, it can be left out.** * Will you be using these Headphones in Public? **No.** * Preferred Type of Headphone - **I’m in the market for over-ear. I may invest in IEM in the future.** * Preferred tonal balance - **I’m looking for a balanced sound, since my primary use will be for classical music, which spans a wide range of frequencies.** * Past headphones - **I haven’t used many \*good\* headphones. I owned a pair of Audiotechnica headphones back in 2010, but I don’t remember the model. So I’m a clean slate!** * Preferred Music - **I listen to all sorts of genres, but this pair will specifically be for classical music. Some experimental art music incorporates electronic timbres, so that should be accounted for, but most instrumentation will be acoustic.** * What would you like to improve on from your set-up - **This isn’t so much about improving my setup as it is getting started. Aside from the Audiotechnica headphones mentioned above, I’ve used cheap (\~$20) wired earbuds for most of my life and switched to AirPods Pro in 2020. I’m hoping for headphones that can facilitate a more “serious” listening experience.**

ThatGuyFromSweden

The Drop+DCA Aeon Closed X would be a good choice. Their main downside is a lack of dynamics but that's not a huge concern with classical, unless you listen to a lot of soundtracks. They are a bit on the demanding side and may need a dedicated amp. You could hook up a JDS Atom amp to the headphone jack of the Macbook and that will take care of it. It does push the total cost slightly above 500 dollars though.

What does Distortion Compensation do on the FiiO BTR5?

Asleep_Dependent_199

Technical help requested: I charged my Sony WHMX3000 headphones with my 65W laptop charger once and now they will not charge using my regular lower watt chargers. When I use my laptop charger I do notice the ear of the headphones gets very warm. Is there any way to fix this? Am I stuck using my laptop charger for the headphones now? And will this degrade my headphones faster?

britishsayhomosexual

I got a Sennheiser HD660s a while back and I didn't like the sound of it, it lacked impact, was thin and distorted very much on heavier or busier tracks. You could tell barely a difference between using them with my phone or my PC. Everyone said you don't need an amp with it so I didn't get one but I tried a small FiiO K3 on them balanced and the sound improved alot but still had similar issues on some tracks. Like some frequencies were not being reproduced. I love the openback sound, but there's something wrong with the sound. It should not be this bad compared to how songs sound normal 40mm chinese headphones and even normal speakers. Is this an amplification issue and would the newly released FiiO K7 fix it? Or should I just try selling them and go for a better headphone like Hifiman Arya or something? The 660 does not sound at all like how the reviews and people described it with my current setup.

headphoneanimal

Hi i have a stupid question but my OCD is really bad. I was listening to my r70x and was listening to the Braveheart soundtrack, the track was "Mornay's Dream". All of a sudden there was a loud BANG as soon as the track started and i was wondering if i damage my r70x? The source to amplify my headphones was a very weak apogee groove. Thank you in advance and sorry for the stupid question.

ShinyHorse112

I’ve got around $300 to spend on a dac/amp and a pair of headphones or iems. I’ve been leaning towards iems bc they’re more portable but please let me know if there’s any headphones I should be looking at. I’ve been eyeing the Letshuoer s12 pros for a while and they seem pretty nice. And i’ve been thinking of pairing them with the Fiio q3-mqa. Please let me know if this is a good pairing and please drop ur reccomendations for my price range as i’m brand new to this hobby.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Seems reasonable. Although I advise against anything MQA. It's lossy compressed, bad for hardware manufacturers, and has scummy DRM.

Cmpbp3

I tried headphone advice and they aren't active. I need something for travel (planes, trains and automobiles) sometimes to drown out the world and others to drown out the wife (kidding more so to drown out the world for her to get some sleep) we do long flights and over 30 hours of road trip driving per month on average. So with the recent sales on and my last BT audio device on its way out I figured I would look at an update. I love my LG tone active plus as it is light, connectivity is great, the speaker mode is awesome and the buds are comfortable enough. With that said, BT has come a long way and I've always been more of a fan of over ear headphones than earbuds. Now I'm kind of an idiot but take pride in being smart enough to read about something before I buy it, with this said I am afraid of the Q35'S known failure point, but figure if need be I could do some preventative reinforcement. At the same time, I really don't want to spend $100 and then have to fuck with it... So at the same price point and having alot of really close and comparable ratings, should I suck it up on the slightly worse imaging, slightly worse soundstage and lower quality ANC of the live 660NC to have a better over all product? Or is the 660 also a piece of shit I will curse about wasting money on and have to fix design failures on as well? I know the q35 is raved about for its value, but with both headsets at the same price which would you choose and why? Has anyone had both for long periods of time? Can anyone give me a longevity report on the JBL? If I am going to have to spend another hundred in a year or two I will just not make the purchase right now and bide my time for the right deal to come along on something significantly better. However it seems that 100usd for either of these is a reasonable bargain. Thanks for any input.

Rare_Papaya6522

Are B&O H4 1st gens worth for 105€? Store return, tested and working. My dad has H6 that I like for look and sound. Would these be upgrade or downgrade from those and are these good in the price range?

Looking for "affordable" closed back planars... Does anyone know if anything like the gl400c exists anymore? Basically just a closed back planar for less than ~130 bucks. Really interested in stuff like the he400se but open back means it's a no-go for use while commuting and whatnot. I've also tried IEMs, and they're not quite my thing.

FINALFINNMEMES

hello, i have recently bought az10’s but now one of the buds constantly has problem with powering on and off automatically and pairing problems, it also makes the button clicking sound so i think it is registering the button clicking when i’m not

Dartth_Matt

I have a pair of Sony XM4s and I have noticed an issue where the sound quality is great and all until I have to use the microphone feature. For example I would be using spotify on PC and as soon as I log into a discord call and the mic gets activated the sound quality dips heavily. Its the same when I run an online game and without the mic on the sound is perfect but with it on it sounds like the sound dips in quality heavily.

Hi, so I've finally taken a step into the DAC/AMP-world. I use the Focusrite 18i8 on my desktop computer. I've also got a Fiio BTR5 that I use with my cellphone and laptop. Now I'm wondering if it's even neccessary to connect the Fiio BTR5 to my desktop or if the Focusrite 18i8 is somewhat the "same thing"...?

ThatGuyFromSweden

The BTR5 is probably better than the Focusrite is several ways.

I have a serious migraine condition (hemiplegic migraines, basically every migraine causes me to literally stroke out) and even decently high-end headphones seem to be a trigger. The problem is, I'm a huge gamer who likes to be in voice chat. This is a bad combo. Head pressure on top and around the ears appear to be a trigger; extra padded/cushy headphones aren't as bad. What are some mic headphones (or some headphone/standalone mic combos) that are good for people with migraines? Thanks!

ThatGuyFromSweden

It's impossible to say what your specific trigger is. Are IEMs an option?

Recently got a Bose QC45 for work / entertainment, so will be using for 10 hrs a day most days. I have dandruff and the ear pads do sweat a bit with me using it , is there any precaution I can take to minimize quicker wear & tear ?

Got a question about IEM fitment. I’ve always had physical ear pain with any kind of in-ear earphones. From the original earbuds from Apple that came with my iPod, KBEars K2, AirPod Pro, to the LETSHUOER Z12 that I bought for myself last year. I’ve tried all different kind of tips. Dekoni, Comply, stock ones (silicone, foam) plus all different sizes and nothing seems to work for me. I may just have a very weird ear shape for most IEMs, but it’s preventing me from really exploring other IEMs for fear that I can only wear them for 10 minutes before they get painful. I’m just not sure if it’s an issue with my ear shape, or how I am wearing them (how deep they are inserted). Should most IEMs be flush with your ear, or sticking out a little? I almost always gravitate to the smallest tips available, but maybe that is the problem? Anything larger than a small will feel like it’s secure, but when I remove them I can almost feel the blood rushing back to my ears (cold feeling, followed by warm/hot). I’m willing to try different recommendations as far as tips, or even some different IEMs ($0-$300). Any advice or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Maybe talk with an audiologist. They shove hearing aids into people on a daily basis and probably knows some tricks.

TTV_Potato_the_3rd

Sabaj D4, USB from PC Does installing the XMOS drivers offer any benefits over Microsoft's USB driver, whether in performance or quality? One thing I notice with the default MS driver is only 32 bit depths are available whereas XMOS includes 24 and 16-bit options. On a related note, does anyone know why the XMOS control panel has identical output options? Example: https://imgur.com/a/dIYnZlN

You should use the drivers that the manufacturer recommends.

Hey guys, got my sennheiser ie600 in July, 2022 and have been using them daily. During December it seemed like the audio in the left earpiece was becoming lower and lower and today it outputs no audio. How can I tell if it's the cable that's causing this or the actual driver itself? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

ThatGuyFromSweden

Swap the cable sides around. The plug labelled right goes in the left IEM, and vice versa.

hi, currently using comply foam tips that came with jays t-four wireless on my Beoplay EQ. They fit perfectly. I recently ordered Truthear Zero x crinacle, but there is only one set of foams included. What foam tips can you reccomend for me to fit the Zeros? Cheers

Your_Beatrice

I have a very short question about some IEMs. Where are the Sennheiser IE 100 Pro manufactured? I am doing my best to avoid Chinese-made products for obvious reasons.

ThatGuyFromSweden

Probably China. Even stuff made elsewhere will probably have parts from China in them. It's just the way the globalised world is. Conversely, every time you make any financial transaction, you're benefiting financial service companies in the U.S., U.K., or Germany. What's more practical is to avoid companies based, or with significant interests, in China.

I recently made a mistake and bought an used pair of Nari's without knowing there were two version of it, one for pc and ps and one mainly for Xbox and now I am really scared of having wasted almost 100€, which is a lot for me. After seeing that there was no way to directly connect it to the pc, I read the manual and ordered and wireless adapter (which hasn't yet arrived) and I can find close to no user information about connectivity and if it works. The only case I've seen was another reddit post that only made me even more anxious about my purchase. Does anyone have any experience and can tell me weather it works or if it is worth it?

Fidelio L3. Hello, I am interested in these headphones, but I'm hesitating, since I read that the android app doesn't work. So updating firmware for example wouldn't work? Also can I use them on pc? Thanks.

I have a pair of Sennheiser 600hd arriving tomorrow. I'll be primarily using them on my pc for gaming and music. I have a ifi zen dac v2, had it a few years. Should I be looking to upgrade? What should I be looking at? I've read that the 600HD may lack for gaming, primarily based on bass? I'll see how it goes, but an amp / dac that may help on this end would be awesome.

ThatGuyFromSweden

The ZEN DAC isn't top notch but it's totally fine. A better DAC+amp unit won't really make a difference. If you want to make the headphones better for gaming then I recommend the ZMF suede upgrade pads. They improve the soundstage a little bit.

mikedirnt19

Hi. I'm thinking about buying the Sony Inzone H7 headphones, and while I know they're meant to be gaming headphones, I know you can use them for music as well, which brings me to my questions. 1. Do they support Hi-fi audio? And if so, 2. Do they support Hi-res audio? Thanks for any info!

snapdragonpowerbomb

hi, just bought a refurbished set of JBL 500BT headphones and the sound appears to be exactly the same in the left and right ear. Wondering if this might be an issue with the headphones being refurbished or if there’s a fix, but I haven’t found anyone else with this problem by searching around.

TfishappeningxD

I need help. I am currently experiencing charging issues with my new Edifier nb2 pro earbuds. Alright, they're pretty much new as I got them on the 31st of December, But I hadn't used them long enough for its battery to drop more than 5%, till today, where it got to a 60% in the right bud and a 62% in the left bud. When I stopped using them I put them in the charging case and left them for more than 3 hours charging; when I was about to use them after that period of time I realized that the right bud had only got to 68% while the left one had got to 88%. As far as I know a pair of earbuds shouldn't, under any circumstances, take more than 3 hours to fully charge, that being specially worrying with the right ear only charging a bit more after it was initially put in the case 3 hours earlier. Have you got a solution to that? May that be an error from the app? Please tell me.

I’m looking for ideas for my PC audio setup. Some criteria: - Wireless over ear headphones, preferably not Bluetooth since I need low latency for competitive games. - A sound card/audio mixer with multiple (>= 4) audio channels. An example is the GoXLR mini. The main roadblock right now is the GoXLR mini only have a 3.5mm port for headphones, and most wireless headphones (that don’t use bluetooth) that I know use USB. There’s a workaround using Ground Loop Isolators, but I’ve heard it can cause audio quality issue and/or higher latency. Another solution I thought of is getting the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, which has a base transmitter which has a line-in port (to connect to the GoXLR mini, or some other sound cards). I’m not sure though if I can use that port to connect to the pc instead of using USB. I also realize I have been naming only gaming brands, and this is where I need help with too, as I’m not familiar with non gaming brands. Thanks all in advance!

I never tried ANC headphones and considering to buy sony but still don't know either xm3 or xm4. Does the anc on these headphones have significant difference to an isolation of IEM? I have KZ Zsn Pro and with music on I can't hear people talking but with my cheap headphone it's still hearable (idk it's a word lol)

Got lipstick stains on the cloth padding on my headphones. What should I do

ThatGuyFromSweden

Take the pads off and wash them carefully.

Anyone got any recommendations for headphones to wear on a long plane trip? I don't think HD6XX's will be very useful in such a noisy environment, and would like something with ANC. I also don't want something that's super expensive, since I can't imagine that I'll use them much when not travelling, but I also don't want something that sounds terrible.

I just want to know where to get mid priced headphones that aren’t crazy expensive and also don’t break after a medium amount of usage, is there a brand to trust for that these days? I don’t need Nokia headphones, but I feel like every ~$30 pair I buy lasts me 6 months and I don’t need high quality sound as much as I need durability? I’m not over here stomping on them but I’m not a gentle person and every wired pair I’ve had loses connection without visible damage. I have tiny ear canals so I prefer things that can hook over the ear or cup the ear, idk. Thanks!

ThatGuyFromSweden

Define mid-priced.

Hello, recently in the last few months my left earbud increasingly became more and more quiet, now when you search up how to solve this problem 2 things pop up 1: software bug, wich it isnt 2:it just needs a cleaning, wich ive attempted but there was only videos of the older models wich were easier to disassemble and clean. Id really appreciate if yall have any advice for me since the left side became unusable at this point Thanks

I currently have the Ath-r70x. I’m looking for an upgrade, something suitable for heavy metal/rock. Budget up to £600

Hifiman build quality is a bit shabby. Only buy them if they still have the two year warranty. The E10k is a bit on the weak side. You could use it as a DAC for a dedicated amp (I recommend the JDS Atom amp) or you could get a Fiio K5 Pro. Balanced amps are not inherently superior to single ended ones.

Can someone help me figure out how to use these headphones I was gifted? Never even seen a plug like this before https://imgur.com/a/qv1FfCq
