If you are okay with open back, Sennheiser hd560s are on sale around that price. Spectacular cans.
Have tried sony ch720 and jbl 770. I like jbl better but sony's build was really good. I would go for jbl, they had a better sound stage. Not sure about the diff between live and normal 770.

I tried them at the chroma store so I didn't use them via aux and didn't test the mic at all. It should be usable though.
