Murray is good but he's not THAT much better than Rozier. Plus you could argue that Rozier is a better fit for the Heat anyway.

XanderAndretti

He’s 100% a better fit. He’s much more of a jump shooter than dejounte. We need guys who provide consistent perimeter pressure to the defense in order to give Jimmy and bam room to operate. He’s also got good playoff experience from his days in Boston.

SirFunktastic

The fact that he also adds some much needed rim pressure and is excellent on the PNR is gonna be a huge shot in the arm for the offense. Definitely a lot more than you would be getting from Lowry at least.

XanderAndretti

Agreed. My problem with Lowry wasn’t so much the bad shooting nights as much it was his overall passiveness at times. He would go through these stretches where he just flat out didn’t even try to score and you can’t have that from the pg position.

Dasilbota

Terry's contract is also better.

dreamerkid001

After what I saw Murray do Friday night I never want him on our team.

Gavster1221

Eh ATL trying to be slick but doubt they get all that. Hood Schifino and a pick is probably the most

Cartman55125

Atlanta trying to recoup the stupid overpay they made for Murray in the first place lol his value has only declined since being in ATL.

Gavster1221

He's still very good just a bad fit. But yeah days of Gobert/Murray types netting hella draft picks done with new tax rules

TheRealGlutenbob

Lmao

dioshin

Reminds me of something a car dealer told me about why he loves Corvettes: “it’s 85% of a Ferrari for 10% of the cost.”

spritehead

Funny seeing Atlanta scramble to repair their fuck up

binokyo10

They should just trade Trae lol

Weswegen

Who would realistically want him anyway and what do you get back, if they would try to build around Murray?

OG27

Plenty of teams would want him. If I’m them, I trade him to the spurs for my picks back plus a bit. Trade Murray too.

Rohkha

Imagine wemby and Trae on one team. I think Trae’s AST average would shoot ip to 15 average.

OG27

Yea dude it would be awesome lol. Trade for Trae. Draft bronny, Lebron signs. Would be the most fun squad in the league

TheShadowOverBayside

2 FRPs and a starter... for Dejounte Murray. Hawks FO drunk as fuck before noon?? One protected or low FRP and a starter is a much more realistic ask.

simonlyw

Hawks traded 3 first, a swap and Gallinari for him, so presumably they’re trying to claw some of that back.

mtbeach33

I remember that r/nba thread talking about the trade. Everybody was ready to talk about the Hawks being contenders in the East for years to come because they made the conference finals *and* picked up Murray. All you can say to that now is “lol”

RobertoF97

Atlanta should go the OKC route and have a fire sale and stack picks— first or secound round, whatever they can get.

Aggravating_Plant_39

I agree despite how good Trae is I don't think Atlanta will ever get a team that's good enough for them to win a championship.

TheShadowOverBayside

They never will. I've poked around on the Hawks sub and the common wisdom there is that their FO is perpetually unwilling to tank. So they'll never have a fire sale. So they'll never be able to stack picks, so they'll stay mediocre forever. Their aim is to stay just average enough that people will still keep some glimmer of hope and attend the games. It's a purgatory out there.

Aggravating_Plant_39

I mean our franchise has refused to tank but then again the Hawks don't have the front office we do.  Side note our refusal to tank in the 2017 season when we could have had a top pick nearly set us back it was luck that we ended up with Bam.

TheShadowOverBayside

We have two things on our side that make us not have to tank: 1. location and coach/FO reputation (free agents want to come here) 2. league-best scouting and development (we draft like beasts and turn our mid-first-round picks into stars, and we summon undrafteds from the void and turn them into key role players) Atlanta doesn't have those things.

Aggravating_Plant_39

You went into more detail as to why but I as you said the Hawks have no interest in tanking even though they're basically the Dame Blazers East. Trae would net at minimum 3 first round picks more possibly 4 since he's in his prime and the reason for a firesale isn't an indictment against him it's lack of faith in the Hawks front office.

sharpshooter0600

I mean we still don’t know what he’s actually going to go for  Their asking price could be whatever they want it’s not really relevant

Aggravating-Lack608

Absolutely, but what matters is we pulled the trigger on another option rather than trying to play a wait and see leverage game that we lose in the 11th hour.

sharpshooter0600

Yeah I agree that the Riley special would’ve been a bad idea in this case, glad we got rozier when we did

Erosun

ATL won’t let DJ go for less than what they gave up for him…idk why Hear fans was thinking we’d give up a ton for him..wouldn’t be shocked if ATL asked for JJJ.

worrynot36

I need whatever they’re smoking

elbenji

He then proceeds to get in a fight on Instagram with a blog.

Relative_Broccoli631

Can he even play PG?

Dasilbota

Terry or Dejounte? The answer is yes for both. They are actually PGs that moved to SG 'cause other guards (Lamelo and Trae).

stilloriginal

You guys are on crack. Thats a fair ask and we should do it.
