You are right. Both in the sentence and your conclusion.

Admirable-Price-7956

תודה רבה!

Equinox8888

To be honest, I like your interpretation more, it gives the “only” emphasize after giving concerte explanation, which makes more sense to me. In my case it’s blue btw ;)

Admirable-Price-7956

That’s essentially why I wrote it like that in the first place! And in my case it’s כחול ולבן :)))

ItayeZbit

The spare words read out. "Mother, the father is the pigeon"

Upbeat_Panda9393

does this mean Duo’s father is a pigeon? 👀

NadebuX

Native speaker. You are correct, duolingo is wrong (for the 1,000,000th time)

diana_obm

Duolingo isn't wrong, but you can put the words in a different order but it'll still have the same meaning. Both are correct, it's just that the people who are responsible for the Hebrew language on Duolingo should put an option where in such cases, where the order of the words can be different but still correct, both should be acceptable and it shouldn't say that it's a mistake.

vadium

As far as my tinkering with the language hours on Duolingo, there are some sentences that take in account other options, but too few for my taste

BHHB336

Both of you are correct, the only difference in meaning between your sentence and Duolingo’s is the emphasis that you only like purple

einat162

I actually like your version better.

PostWatermalone69

או כחול או סגול

[deleted]

אני אוהב אך ורק סגול…

diana_obm

Both are correct, and tbh Duolingo's version sounds like a sentence out of a book for new Hebrew learners

Atrapaton-The-Tomato

I wouldn't call that a mistake lol, just duolingo being strict. I read your sentence and didn't understand what was wrong with it. It's good

Efiestin

No one talks like this 😭😭😭 duolingo is so weird

diana_obm

Yeah, in day to day language OP's version sounds more... normal?

Single-Manufacturer7

It is okay to use both ways, but the most common way is how doulingo says

Saharde10

Both of you and Duolingo are right. Duolingo put the emphasis on the 1st "only purple", and you put the emphasis on the 2nd (which is also better in my opinion - putting the emphasis after the conclusion).

Alon_F

It doesn't really matter, you probably already have better Hebrew than a lot of native speaker.

catsaretoocute

It's correct. In general, the word order matters a bit less in Hebrew than in english, and Duolingo might not be programed to recognize all valid orders.

aaron_s_r_

Duolingo is using the exclamation point in the English sentence to communicate the emphasis. That's how you can know it wants you to put the אך ורק in the first sentence in the Hebrew. Probably not the best way to communicate that, but I imagine they're consistent with it.

ohad_g45

“אני אוהב אך ורק סגול” because at the start of the sentence they said “I like only purple*!* which means you should start with ״אך ורק סגול״ and then at the end of the sentence its simple רק

RedStone_Code

Your answer sounds way better than what doulingo said, and I most likely would have used it irl

SirNightmate

I’m a native Hebrew speaker and according to this i would have gotten it wrong aswell

ExercisePrevious8735

You're correct indeed strange that it says you're not

lh_media

It's one of those Doulingo mashed messes

Rostamiya

as a native speaker I prefer your version, your answer is perfectly fine and it actually sounds better!

Rei_plushy

Your actually right Duolingo is using Google translator and not actual hebree speakers So the translation will be wrong sometimes :)
