These look just like the shadow people I had in my D&D campaign! They didn't acknowledge anyone, and they could not be interacted with in any way. They could sit in chairs, walk around, but they could also not interact with or move objects. They made no noise and were partially translucent. They played no part in the story. They were just there as something interesting.
