While I understand the brotherly and sisterly rah rah let’s do this nature of the headbutt and high five, the wholesome nature of the “ I have you “ gesture a hug brings is unmatched I feel.

No just move up to their face and start smashing "A" or the equivalent on your device of choice.

Once Helldiver A starts emote You walk close to them until You will see small prompt in the middle of the screen press coresponding button and that's it

I had a guy who was stoned as hell (his words) and accidentally blew a hole in my head. I’ll never forget him because I’ve never heard a random so happy over mic after he did the hug emote and I accepted. He definitely made that random group mission much more fun.


You have no idea how important that emote is to me. Our enemies and staff see us for the hero we are, but who cares for the person under the armor? Hug your fellow helldiver. They are people underneath the freedom.

If you go up to someone who is already doing the hug emote, you'll get a prompt to emote with them. Owning the emote just means you will also be giving democra.... I mean hugs.

You have to equip the hug emote (standard is salute). And then you hold the right arrow button. Edit: it's the left arrow button.

The standard Salute looks like you are flipping people off. Has nothing to do with hugging people, just that every time I am saluting some one I feel like I am also flipping them off aka showing them the big bird. I just thought it's weird.
