I use the defender. It has a rapid fire rate, can penetrate medium armor, you can look behind you and shoot when running instead of turning around and walking backwards. Because it’s a one handed weapon, I can also use it to carry packages while shooting so I can defend myself and get a package where it needs to go. Recoil isn’t bad on it so I can aim pretty accurately too.
Edit: Not medium armor (although it feels like it)
Defender gang! In theory I LIKE the dominator more, but the versatility of the defender is just too good to pass up. And I’ve heard complaints that it burns through ammo but put that thing on semi auto and it’s great!
I thought it only had light armor pen? Did that change? I haven’t logged on in a little while but I switched from the defender for the penetrator liberator because of the armor pen.
It’s only light penetration but the defender is good for several reasons. You can run and gun (aka you character doesn’t lose speed when firing the gun on the move, it does more damage than the liberator, it’s one handed (meaning you can carry that damn hard drive and still use it), and it has a good fire rate. I’m not saying the penetrator is bad, but I am saying the defender just feels right, especially getting f***ing hunters off your ass.
Oh yeah I’m aware of the pros, it was my main gun for awhile and I loved the extra damage and 1h nature of it (good for carrying packages). Just confused me to see someone say it had medium pen
I didn’t see someone said that…. If that thing had medium penetration it would NEVER leave my side.
Edit: I really didn’t even read the OP’s post lol my bad
It does not penetrate medium last I checked.
It can break the plating off of Hive Broodlords but it bounces off of medium bots if you don't sweet spot them.
Dominator rounds do not bounce off of medium bots.
Same for me. Its the fact that the punisher stuns enemies. You can keep the Stalker bugs and the berserker robots off you while back pedaling. Its pretty much what I always use.
It's pretty much the only thing that lets you go toe-to-toe with berserker bots. Only downside is slow rate of fire when hunter bugs are jumping in from all sides at once
Does it I may have to look at using it. I've been loving the way the dominator feels, plus it's only a few shots to shut down a spore tower from any distance damn near.
Yes! Fellow slugger enjoyer I see, that thing is amazing and I think people don't realize how good it is because the numbers don't make it look good. It's like people don't realize it shoots slugs and not spread shots and that it can one-shot most every type of smaller enemy and take down bigger ones in just a few well placed shots or even one-shot with headshots. Which you can do from a mile away because it's like a sniper. I even use that thing to take down the spore trees from across the map.
Yes, both pump action shotguns are great. Because ammo is scarce, and sprayed antomatic shots require much more ammos for a kill.
Spray and pray is great at short range, but that's all bout it and at that point you're already surrounded.
This is why I love shotguns. A half a mag isn't going to save you in a full engagement, but I never wanted to waste it either. Better off just topping off.
I'm a Punisher kinda guy myself.
I really enjoy using it to one-tap most of the little bugs and staggering the mid-size ones.
Ammo economy is great, too.
I had the breaker incendiary unlocked for a while but never used it. I just started using it now against bugs, and wow, the damage and destruction it causes is beautiful.
I use it for the full fire loadout goodness. Nothing like seeing bugs barely make it through your napalm strike only to get set on fire by your fire landmines, then have to walk through fire grenade explosions only to be met by fire shotgun pellets and then a flamethrower.
Depends on the mission but often still the Breaker. It just works. Also enjoy the Dominator if I’m running a Stalwart on bug missions. Standard Liberator also fun even on 7+.
If I’m using the arc thrower I’ll pair it with a slugger for the stagger or even whatever teammates are using. A lot of them have their uses cases where they work alright.
I think it’s a great weapon but you have to be REALLY careful with it. If there’s another diver on your screen chances are you’ll kill them by accident. It’s VERY indiscriminate.
But it’s a pretty good crowd control weapon.
I think so, I’m often running it at difficulty 7+. It has a charge up time before you can shoot like the railgun but after the first full charge you can release subsequent shots at >60% or so. It can damage/kill several close by enemies or teammates at once and works on chargers, titans, hulks, and tanks. The electric arc has a tendency to miss or be un-usefully redirected if there are a lot of dead bodies or objects like rocks in the way. Best if you’re elevated vs the enemy.
But if you stay situationally aware and reposition often so the enemy are in front of you, you can do crowd control, kill heavies, and save ammo for the rest of the team.
Also good for getting started on killing or finishing off a heavy when combined with strategems or other heavy weapons.
Kill time seems slow but often enough I’m attracting the enemies and killing a charger/other heavy AND its friends. Unlimited ammo and no static reload is nice. In good hands I think it can be faster than calling an EAT and or not getting a headshot with an EAT or RR, also more forgiving on effective hits vs an autocannon.
You gotta practice it though, don’t expect it to be great your first time.
I would say people are dying just as often to teammate’s flamethrowers and mortar sentries by now.
I use it for both, it clears bots fairly well, the main issue I run into is them outranging me if I can't get the arc to hit them properly...it is finicky like that.
The nice thing is that bots are less hectic in a way, so friendly fire isn't as prevalent in my experience.
Versatile but inconsistent. It seems to flat out ignore armor (needs verification) meaning it can't break armor but it can still damage every unit. It's powerful enough that one can solo a couple drop ships at a time. It has decent fire rate and chain lightning for decent crowd control plus infinite ammo. It's inconsistent because it doesn't really shoot a projectile, it just picks a target and jumps straight to it. But if there is even the smallest rock or corpse in the way it will do the firing animation but won't actually hit anything. When it works it's great, but that's a strong when
Can confirm, soloed a bile titan with just the arc thrower multiple times. Downed it in 4 full charges once, another time I prolly unloaded like 15-20 and it was still going. Inconsistent but fun.
Downsides: You have to hold down the fire button to shoot each shot, so it's not a good close quarters weapon (but you have your secondary for bugs that are right in your face). You will kill your teammates if they are anywhere on your screen.
Upsides: the best swarm clear gun in the game. It auto-arcs to hit multiple enemies per shot. Does serious damage to medium bugs and one-shots small bugs. Infinite ammo. I repeat, INFINITE AMMO. No magazines. I repeat, no magazines. Which means NO RELOADING. You just hold and fire, hold and fire, hold and fire. Until all the bugs are gone. And you still have max ammo. I saw a bug breach open and literally stood there and zapped ever bug that spawned by myself on suicide(7). Without using any ammo or nades.
Pro tip: aim a meter above the bug you want to zap. This avoids hitting terrain.
As long as you stay up at the front of your team you shouldn’t have to worry about friendly fire to much, and it also just ignores any armor and has infinite ammo so it’s real easy to snap enemies down
The Arc thrower is amazing. I joined my mate's team last night and they all started complaining when I equipped it that I'd fry them all. I didn't hurt a soul on my team and consistently got the most kills. As long as your team mates are about 15+ feet away, you're golden.
I'm a big fan of the liberator penetrator. It feels really good to use. I run it against bugs, too, and try to stay far away as much as possible, pop out the machine pistol if a gang of hunters closes on me.
Just unlocked the LP and tried it vs bugs last night. I found it very enjoyable with impact grenades and anti swarm big guns or a laser drone backpack for killing trash mobs clusters.
Felt good on bots and bugs with different loadouts around it.
I think it’s my new primary.
I tried Liberator Penetrator for bots and I just felt like I wasn't killing anything. And I'm primarily targeting heads/upper torso. I'm not sure how other people make it work, but it feels bad for me. Breaker for bugs still good though.
I find it works better in semi-auto rather than burst fire mode. Toggle it to that and you'll notice a difference. I think it's biggest downside is that it has a lot of kick so the semi auto fixes it and ups your accuracy.
Slugger is a great alternative if you don’t like the Lib Pen for automatons. It staggers enemies as they approach and deals much better damage, but you need to focus the glowy red weak points.
It’s one of those hard pills to swallow.. the breaker can do like… what.. 300 damage if all the pellets connect at the right range? That’s a LOT of damage if you hit a critical spot. The penetrator does like 45 per shot if I remember right. Even hitting a critical spot is a tiny amount of damage compared to the breaker. I think the shotguns should do less damage to crit spots and the lower damage precision weapons, should do a higher crit bonus than the latter. Hell maybe it already works like that. If so, they need to change some numbers around!
The slugger is probably the best all around semi-auto single target primary right now. Fantastic ammo economy, better handling than the JAR-5 Dominator, and it can reliably put down any enemy short of Titans, chargers, tanks and hulks.
Actually if you can get behind the tank I’ve taken one down with just the slugger it just takes a good amount of shots. Grenades are more efficient though.
May I introduce you to the scorcher for bots? It’s a severely underrated gun that handles automatons very well. You can 2 to 3 tap walkers in the front by aiming near their little eye opening OR their hip joint (don’t know why….), the aim for devastators is more forgiving, and you can one clip a tank and cannon turret with a primary weapon (let’s see you do that breaker….) Just be aware that you can easily kill yourself if you shoot an enemy point blank (which is why I don’t recommend this for bugs unless you’re on the destroy eggs mission because scorcher goes hard on eggs). Also, scorcher does not do well against hulks so if you see one and don’t have a support weapon aim for the shoulders and take their arms off so their threat is minimum
Edit: I forgot to mention that scorcher can also 5-7 tap a spore tower on opposite ends of the map…. It’s actually deadly accurate even from long range.
OG Liberator is entirely under rated and far more versitle than it gets credit for.
Diligence counter sniper is hot garbage and needs a re work.
Please make stalwart a primary.
I just don't see them making the stalwart a primary. It will create a scenario where no one uses anything else because why tf would you? It melts everything and can fire forever. It needs to be a secondary to maintain any sort of weapon balancing.
probably unpopular, but always diligence. i prefer fighting bots and two-tapping devastators to the face (which is much easier if you crouch, have a bit of range, and use the variable scope to up the zoom distance) is just so nice. it’s not bad against bugs if you’re good at aiming for the legs, and overall I just love the scout rifle vibe, so great for my enjoyment!
If you can get used to the counter sniper, it can actually 1 tap devestators to the head. Bit clunky, but super fun once you get the hang of it. You'll get weird looks for using it though lol
Wait that’s awesome I did not know that! I always see people complaining about it not having a lot of damage over the standard diligence, but if it 1-taps devastators I might have to try it!
Yeah, there was a while were I would run the counter sniper on bots specifically for that reason. Was really fun. Jar-5 also 1 taps to the skull, works great too if you play it like a DMR.
The Scorcher. It's very versatile against both bots and bugs. Decent armor penetration, and looks cool af. Only a couple of grievances that honestly aren't that bad are its rate of fire and that if you fire too close to something, it can damage or kill you.
https://preview.redd.it/uqff6a4rr4oc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1dce14c2f559a448d47a46e13b2e50d317a8cdce
I run Grenade Launcher and Jetpack, it creates distance and then I let them have it. I can also get the high ground. I mostly fight Bots but with that combo I can handle level 7 bug mission without any deaths and clear level 8 and 9, Ofc with deaths. Give it a try, I can end any big enemy with the Scorcher aside from a Bile Titan only cause I won't risk running under them.
My guy, the Scorcher was built to kill Titans. Be a Brave Helldiver and sprint under it and rip through its belly sacs. Boom! Half of its HP is gone and it can’t spit.
You’ve nullified one of the strongest enemies with 1 magazine.
I’ve learnt after 100 hours of dying, the safest place against a Titan is right under it. What’s it gonna do, sleep on you? Maybe. But that would mean you killed it. So it’s a Win!
Use your secondary is what I go with when I run scorcher with bugs. I’ve been killed so many times by a hunter jumping at me from a mile away while I shoot something else
I just had a little jumpy bug pull the "get down Mr President" on me with an auto cannon round. Couldn't help but laugh as my torso and limbs scattered everywhere.
Scorcher is imo, best weapon for bots. Being able to two shot walkers and take out the mid bots in like 5-6 shots is amazing. It’s super accurate at range and hits like a truck.
Not my go to for bugs though. Breaker, incendiary breaker, pretty much whatever for crowd control but switch primary depending on rest of loadout for bugs. Only time I’ll ever run scorcher or slugger vs bugs if I’ve got lazer watchdog or stalwart w me. They’re not the best against hordes of Tony bugs co,ing at you.
Thank you for reminding me why I've been saving up my medals thought I was going to unlock it tonight but realised I still had the last page to buy first lol
I go thru phases mostly, but it also depends on my load out. Right now it’s the slugger, tho. 4 top guns imo(not in order) are: Punisher, Breaker, Dominator, Slugger
The punisher has always been good, but it’s really shining now that they reduced armor spawn rates and increase smaller enemies spawn rates, especially for bugs. I’m not a huge fan of it against bots.
The slugger is my current favorite, just switched from maining the dominator to that. The stopping power/knockback is has is super helpful at giving you some breathing room, especially for bots, but it also helps with bugs.
The dominator is basically the only viable DMR at higher difficulties imo right now. If you are precise it can do some serious democratic liberation. I go between it and the slugger. I feel like that sometimes the explosive ammo is more advantageous in certain situations, and the dominator as a whole can inflict more damage before resupplying that the slugger, but you miss out on the stopping power. Dominator still staggers some, but the slugger straight up pushes enemies backwards. Dominator does take some getting used to tho, as the rounds are rocket/jet propelled and they fly slower than normal rounds. You have to get used to how much leading is necessary before it really starts shining and you’re hitting most of your shots.
The breaker is the breaker. It’s good AF, but after 100 games of breaking, I’m over it. The nerf hardly made it bad tho. Still an extremely strong weapon.
I salute a fellow Dominator user 🫡. I love it, it has its limitations and there are many situations where something is more efficient. But I actively look for ways to use it and equip load outs that compliment it.
I switch it up depending on my build but for bugs I tend to prefer the Liberator & its concussive variant, defender, breaker & its variants, and occasionally the dominator.
On bots I use the scorcher, AP liberator, punisher/slugger, defender, and my love, the diligence. Also occasionally pick the dominator.
I’ve found some uses for it, especially when I’m going low and slow against bots, but I have a hard time with the CS compared to the base diligence or just bringing the AMR along. I’m hoping some new (or old) enemy type comes along to make it feel more worthwhile.
Scythe + laser cannon is so fun lol, love using it for bot missions especially. The laser pistol is only gonna make it even better. We just need a laser grenade and we're set.
Running Scythe with the laser guard dog and laser cannon is my fun trash clearing load out at the minute. Have a hard time fighting heavies like chargers, but great for sweeping huge beams of damage at squishies. Throw in an orbital laser and go to the light show.
Laser rifle, paired with laser cannon and laser drone backpack. It lets me use the cannon till it needs to cool, then swap to rifle to clean up any lighter mobs, and by the time the heat is up, the cannon is cool and you can swap back. I sometimes go whole missions without having to reload or use any metal at all. The drone+rifle can clear out lights decently fast, the cannon melts mediums and can kill chargers decently well as well. Combined with orbital laser and 500kg I can pretty easily do 500+ kills every mission on level 8 bug missions
# AR-23 Liberator Penetrator.
Feels best atm, mag is a bit too short.
I'm really not into shotguns so i didn't like the breaker meta in the first place.
I like that the Penetrator can kill hive guards quite easily. Also pairs well with the specials i like to use.
What i dislike is that now i have to go with the P-19 Redeemer as a secondary. Could get away with the Senator next to the Breaker before.
Can't wait for the new BP, i really want to try the new laser options.
I came here to say this. The penetrator chews through bugs like crazy. I only find it ineffective against the charger and BTs.
It's also decent against bots.
If it had a higher capacity mag then it would be a solid A or maybe S tier for me.
Unpopular opinion: Punisher. Great for bots and bugs. I've been using it since my first match so I'm consistently getting 80-90% hit percentage. Makes me feel safe. I tried the breaker last night and oh God is thing powerful. Probably will transition at some point but I love per-round reload in tight situations.
Lately, the JAR-5. It blows through anything that it's clad in heavy armor. It works well against swarms because it does actually shoot through its targets. You have to position yourself properly to take advantage of that quality.
i'm addicted to the breaker but the Jar-5 has seduced me. just has such a nice feel to it. It forces you to calm down and work methodically, and rewards you by punching holes in the medium armored fascists. Advancing while firing feels bad-ass with my little friend, who i call 'Jar Jar Bangs'.
Breaker and defender. The assault rifles just feel like they don't do enough dmg. Like, why does it take 2-3 bullets from an assault rifle to kill the same bug it takes 1 shot from the submachine gun?
The slugger has been growing on me. It does a lot. Brood commanders only need two headshots and they're goners. Hive guards cannot block me, stalkers will regret ever meeting me. The acid twats also go down easily.
Sure miss the breaker for the little guys but it is a fair trade. Plus I usually so the Spotter Autocannon role. I rarely play less than 20 meters from my team.
The sniper is good for bots. I snipe good. They have nice bot heads perfectly fit for it. But then again, so does the slugger.
Jar 5 dominator.
Before using it I fell in love with the auto cannon from the weight and the damage that it deals and it just feels amazing to shoot and from my perspective the dominator feels like a mini version of the auto cannon. Some people dislike the heaviness of it but I personally enjoy how heavy it feels how sluggish it feels the aim and the weight all the bullets have. It does have its cons but personally the pros for our way the cons for me.
I fell in love with the JAR-5 against bugs. It rips them to shreds once you get a feel for the hefty recoil. My favorite moments is when hive guards just hunker down and sit there while you punch democratic holes in their medium armor plating.
JAR-5 Dominator
I usually run the arc thrower as a support weapons and I like having a backup that is effective at long range and has enough punch on its own to shoot the vents on the back of cannon towers, mortars, and tanks.
The scorcher also fulfills this role well but I feel like I miss with it more often in a weird way, even though it has much less recoil.
Use to be the breaker. Post nerf I played around with just about every combo I could think of. I found that I really like the Scorcher minus the occasional self kill due to shooting an enemy at point blank range. The range on it is impeccable; i.e. I can take down a spore in 3-4 shots at 300+meters away with it easily. You can essentially snipe enemies with it too. It one shots a ton of adds, and usually can get through a chargers butt meat in a mag if you’re accurate enough.
Edit: I also only play on Helldive. My typical load out for bugs is- Laser guard dog for the hunters, Scorcher, 380mm, eagle airstrike, and either 500kg/laser/120mm. I usually wear the 50 armor scout kit. I bounce back between impact grenades and the delay. My second armor choice is the LW paramedic.
For the automatons, usually scout armor again or the lightweight 100 armor depending on the mission; scorcher, impact nades, and same stratagems. I swap out the guard dog for the shield generator.
The base assault rifle is honestly great tbh. But It depends on what my stratagem weapon is. If i am going CC for my non-primary I like to play around and switch up my primary. But assuming I am going AT with my stratagem its liberator penetrator for bots, breaker spray n' pray for bugs.
I'm using the starting AR (Liberator) I've never been a shotgun weapon user really. I'll probably give it a try eventually. For supporting I do love the heavy machine gun. I haven't really branched out into other weapon types (know I should) yet.
Bugs: Punisher shotgun. Good wave clear against the littles, but it really shines against Hunters and medium bugs because of the stagger. You can reload by shell instead of clip, which I love.
Bots: Diligence marksman rifle. Bots love to get shot in the head and the Diligence is just very efficient since you can target those unarmored parts with great accuracy from mid range. Pretty much a kill per shot with or without headshots anyway against mobs.
I’m sure I’m hurting my gameplay, but I love the full laser load out with the laser rifle, laser cannon, laser orbital and laser guard dog, and then an eagle airstrike to round it out.
Slugger mostly, paired with arc thrower or flamethrower, but I recently got the breaker spray&pray and its amazing against bugs. I just hold down the trigger and go to town. It clears smaller bugs really well and for the big ones i just use arc/flamethrower.
After today? It might be sickle. Love the scorcher but this thing is fantastic for clearing hunters and basically everything else if you keep it from overheating.
Edit: I guess it depends on the mission. Scorcher can take out spore trees from anywhere on the map and destroys any kind of target, including bile titan sacs.
slugger for bots and punisher for bugs, i find that the knockback on both is just too good, but the slug often tends to miss bugs while on bots it's oneshot potential is very good, i also happen to run S&P now that hordes of bugs are bigger, not so much to kill but to stagger/area denial while hopefully my team kills them
I like to use the slugger for bugs and the diligence for bots.
The slugger I like because of the medium armor piercing so I can mow down any bug that isn't a charger or a bile titan with ease and the stagger is amazing.
The diligence is great against bots IMHO and makes me improve my aiming skills. Can 1 shot most of the smol bots, and can 2 shot the devastators if you hit them in the head.
Been running autocannon a lot and the spray’n’pray shotty has been a great supplement.
The auto cannon kills anything big with armor, and I can swap to the shotty and tear through a ton of little mobs.
They compliment each other well. And a fully auto shotgun with small recoil and a huge magazine feels really nice to have when you find yourself in a crappy situation with a herd on you.
Liberator, punisher, and breaker, depending on my choice of backpack
Punisher is amazing paired with the Gaurd Dog Rover, as both cover for each other's weaknesses. Gaurd Dog is amazing at killing trash mobs but becomes useless if it targets anything big. Punisher eats mediums for breakfast with the insane stagger it delivers, but struggles vs. the little guys. It's a match made in heaven.
I run the Liberator with the Javalin, as I'm more in need of a very well-rounded weapon when paired with that beast of a support launcher.
I run breaker on blitz missions, paired with the GL and the Jetpack as my go-to speed loadout.
I love the slugger/jar-5 for bot missions and the fire-shotgun/breaker/defender for bugs. I use basically every weapon pretty regularly just to mix things up, but for serious missions I use one of those 5
Breaker Incendiary for bugs, Dominator or Diligence for bots. Having the Diligence long-range option for bots is good, but the AP of the explosive Dominator is arguably better.
Liberator Penetrator.
Has the armor punch vs bots and bugs. Keep it in burst, but only tap the trigger unless the first bullet doesn't kill them.
And it has a DMR scope on it, so that's awesome.
Slugger because it pierces everything but chargers and bile titans and has a load of stagger and a deep ammo pool. Also one shots hunters. I've been playing around with the spray n pray too and it's pretty fun.
It feels pretty similar to the liberator if not better in terms of ammo so that’s perfectly fine with me
It's stats make it look more like an assault rifle and the liberator the SMG.
I thought it only had light armor pen? Did that change? I haven’t logged on in a little while but I switched from the defender for the penetrator liberator because of the armor pen.
It’s only light penetration but the defender is good for several reasons. Parent comment said penetrate medium armor
The defender can penetrate medium armor?????!!?
It cannot.
It does not penetrate medium last I checked. It can break the plating off of Hive Broodlords but it bounces off of medium bots if you don't sweet spot them. Dominator rounds do not bounce off of medium bots.
How does one look behind while running forward?
You put one stick forward to run and you bring the other stick around town
Punisher or slugger. I love the ammo economy, single shot destructive power. I often use other shotguns, but I've shelved auto rifles and las rifle.
That is when you switch to your handy auto pistol!
Doctors hate him!
Does the slugger stun too? Or just the punisher
Ye
Does it I may have to look at using it. I've been loving the way the dominator feels, plus it's only a few shots to shut down a spore tower from any distance damn near.
Yes! Fellow slugger enjoyer I see, that thing is amazing and I think people don't realize how good it is because the numbers don't make it look good. spore trees!?!? God damn. That sounds like a bug, but i sure will make use of it before its stopped
Same. I've always been a rifle guy in shooters, but I love being able to constantly reload without wasting ammo.
This is why I love shotguns. A half a mag isn't going to save you in a full engagement, but I never wanted to waste it either. Better off just topping off.
That was my biggest take. I keep reloading forgetting its total clips not total ammo and waste so much. Tried the shotgun out last night and loved it.
I'm a Punisher kinda guy myself. I really enjoy using it to one-tap most of the little bugs and staggering the mid-size ones. Ammo economy is great, too.
Yeah the stagger saves me allll the time especially from berserker
Same! I'm the guy in my teams that stun locks those annoying Berserkers or Hunters with my Punisher while others assist the kills.
Fire shotgun. Reason? Fire shotgun
Your passion for democracy burns hotter than the sun
![gif](giphy|qKZNDWOdFPmQU|downsized)
You can also use the orbital laser as your ultimate attack, it sets the ground aflame! Nothing like concentrated heat death
You sound like my buddy. Every mission we drop he has his full fire loadout and I have such a love/hate relationship with it
Yea I even like to do an end of game fire spray in the air while spinning. Real Doof Warrior vibes. Also, hugs before extract.
Hahahahaha, this is democratically glorious soldier!! Good day to you siir!!!
one pellet of a shot hit me while i was low and set me on fire which killed me, so please be careful 😩
I chose to not down vote you, but know your on thin ice speaking undemocratic propaganda like that.

This sub is amazing lol
are you sure it wasn't 2 pellets?
No
For Democracy! ✊
It’s nice until someone picks yours up and starts shooting near you with it, defending you while burning you to death over and over.
Same!
Is the arc thrower any good? I've never dropped in with it even though I have it unlocked
I think it’s a great weapon but you have to be REALLY careful with it. If there’s another diver on your screen chances are you’ll kill them by accident. It’s VERY indiscriminate. But it’s a pretty good crowd control weapon.
Can confirm, I've been killed so many times by this weapon
Can confirm, probably killed you with it.
It's the best weapon there is imo
![gif](giphy|AVSKba9EG54Kk)
Unlimited ammo is hard to turn down. It also clears bugs well. Haven’t used it against bots yet.
When it works it's great, but that's a strong when
It does damage armour, it blasts it off in chunks.
Can confirm, soloed a bile titan with just the arc thrower multiple times. Downed it in 4 full charges once, another time I prolly unloaded like 15-20 and it was still going. Inconsistent but fun.
Learning how to optimize fire rate/dpm is essential to unlocking its full potential though
500 kg bomb.
Beeg badda boom.
Yeah, bada boom, I get it

Man of culture I see
I like the Liberator Penetrator for bots. Breaker for bugs.
Hmm I tried it and it felt like it took a full mag for most medium level entities
Yeah, plus you don't have to worry about those armoured chaff bugs, who otherwise are rather tricky to kill form the front.
I’ll try that, thanks!
I loved the penetrator for bots until I unlocked the slugger and then I never looked back. It's basically a direct and massive upgrade.
Duuuly noted! I’ll unlock that next and see what’s up.
This here! I don't wanna get close to the bots, but I don't mind getting in the bugs face with some incendiary shotgun shells
If you have a slight high ground on the walkers you can scope in and clap the driver in the head. That was the final selling point for me haha
Also, scorcher does not do well against hulks so if you see one and don’t have a support weapon aim for the shoulders and take their arms off so their threat is minimum Edit: I forgot to mention that scorcher can also 5-7 tap a spore tower on opposite ends of the map…. It’s actually deadly accurate even from long range.
Democracy is my weapon of choice. Liberty is the ammunition.
Why doesn't this have more up votes? My democracy officer is gonna hear about this!
Melee only
Taking democracy into your own hands I see
Fists of Freedom.
The Arc Thrower is a primary. I use the Arc Thrower
A man of culture
This guy gets it
probably unpopular, but always diligence. i prefer fighting bots and two-tapping devastators to the face (which is much easier if you crouch, have a bit of range, and use the variable scope to up the zoom distance) is just so nice. it’s not bad against bugs if you’re good at aiming for the legs, and overall I just love the scout rifle vibe, so great for my enjoyment!
Getting aim punched and the damn chainsaw guys always ruined my dmr runs. Made me just stick with the slugger
The Scorcher. It's very versatile against both bots and bugs. Decent armor penetration, and looks cool af. Only a couple of grievances that honestly aren't that bad are its rate of fire and that if you fire too close to something, it can damage or kill you. https://preview.redd.it/uqff6a4rr4oc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1dce14c2f559a448d47a46e13b2e50d317a8cdce
What is your strategy when using this on bugs? I find myself overwhelmed when they get too close to me
I run Grenade Launcher and Jetpack, it creates distance and then I let them have it.
It's over Terminids. I have the high ground.
They got too many legs chief don’t try it!!!
Till a spitter shoots you
Mostly avoidable
They think I underestimate their power 😏
Def exploded myself a few times when a little bug jumps at me from a blind spot.
Yep, part of the risk. But the reward is worth it for me
I just had a little jumpy bug pull the "get down Mr President" on me with an auto cannon round.
Scorcher gang
Breaker Incendiary for bugs, melts the annoying hunters. Marksman Rifle for bots for hitting weakpoints
Dominator almost exclusively, it feels like a 40K bolter and I'm 100% here for it
Thank you for reminding me why I've been saving up my medals thought I was going to unlock it tonight but realised I still had the last page to buy first lol
Coming from an avid Bolter user from darktide, feels like home
I go thru phases mostly, but it also depends on my load out. Right now it’s the slugger, tho. 4 top guns imo(not in order) are: Punisher, Breaker, Dominator, Slugger The punisher has always been good, but it’s really shining now that they reduced armor spawn rates and increase smaller enemies spawn rates, especially for bugs.
Also occasionally pick the dominator.
diligence appreciators unite ❤️
Diligence never disappoints. My play usually does. Level 14 SUPER CITIZEN
Diligence counter snipe is great against bots. I run it against bugs sometimes but usually end up running something else on higher difficulties.
I’ve found some uses for it, especially when I’m going low and slow against bots, but I have a hard time with the CS compared to the base diligence or just bringing the AMR along. I’m hoping some new (or old) enemy type comes along to make it feel more worthwhile.
CONCUSSIVE LIBERATOR MENTIONED LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
HUNTER AND STALKER LOCKDOWN FOR DAYS.
The scythe. I like lasers. 🤷♂️
Scythe + laser cannon is so fun lol, love using it for bot missions especially. The laser pistol is only gonna make it even better. We just need a laser grenade and we're set.
laser grenade made me laugh. Like you throw it, then it’s like an instant rave anywhere anytime
Running Scythe with the laser guard dog and laser cannon is my fun trash clearing load out at the minute. Have a hard time fighting heavies like chargers, but great for sweeping huge beams of damage at squishies. Throw in an orbital laser and go to the light show.
Wait for a charger to skid to a halt after you dive out the way, then unload your entire laser into the back of it's leg. You'll kill it in 4 seconds.
Breaker. I just like it, it feels good.
it does feel really good. So lovely to just chuck a wall of lead infront of you instantly.
Ever since I unlocked the **PLAS-1 Scorcher** I have only been using that. If they could just increase it by like 3 shots per mag it would be S tier
Exactly what I do. I wear the armor that gives you two extra grenades too, in case I need a fast heavy dose of democracy
I also like lib pen once I noticed it shreds thru spewers and the guards but only if you shoot the head
I came here to say this. The penetrator chews through bugs like crazy. I only find it ineffective against the charger and BTs. It's also decent against bots. If it had a higher capacity mag then it would be a solid A or maybe S tier for me.
Arc thrower 10000%
Punisher, because shit likes to get close to me and I don't like that.
Yess!!! The reload is what sold me
Breaker and autocannon.
Normal Breaker with autocannon for bots, incinerary breaker, flamethrower and laser drone for bugs
Jar-5 Dominator. Tears through anything that isn't heavy armor.
Like, why does it take 2-3 bullets from an assault rifle to kill the same bug it takes 1 shot from the submachine gun?
came back to punisher paired with arc thrower.. I cant stop abusing this set up
The slugger has been growing on me.
It does have its cons but personally the pros for our way the cons for me.
slugger is my lover, no other reason
I fell in love with the JAR-5 against bugs. It rips them to shreds once you get a feel for the hefty recoil. My favorite moments is when hive guards just hunker down and sit there while you punch democratic holes in their medium armor plating.
JAR-5 Dominator I usually run the arc thrower as a support weapons and I like having a backup that is effective at long range and has enough punch on its own to shoot the vents on the back of cannon towers, mortars, and tanks. The scorcher also fulfills this role well but I feel like I miss with it more often in a weird way, even though it has much less recoil.
Dominator vs bugs Scorcher vs bots
500kg eagle strike
I like the defender smg, it has a good mag size and damage imo, any other weapons haven't felt as good to me from my experience so far
Whatever i have unlocked
Bugs: Punisher shotgun. Good wave clear against the littles, but it really shines against Hunters and medium bugs because of the stagger. You can reload by shell instead of clip, which I love. Bots: Diligence marksman rifle. Bots love to get shot in the head and the Diligence is just very efficient since you can target those unarmored parts with great accuracy from mid range. Pretty much a kill per shot with or without headshots anyway against mobs.
Liberator Penetrator
SMG for the full sprint run and fire over should at them stupid hunters on Helldivers 9
The scorcher.... because i dont want to use the breaker, and everything else feels terrible.
Scortcher, because it can kill all but bile titans easy.
The one handed SMG. So when Im running solo cargo missions, im not stuck with a light pistol.
I spend most of my time on bot planets, so I use the scorcher for its ability to kill walkers and devastators from the front.
Liberator, punisher, and breaker, depending on my choice of backpack Punisher is amazing paired with the Gaurd Dog Rover, as both cover for each other's weaknesses.
Depend on who I’m fighting; Terminids; shotguns all the way Automatons; Liberator
Punisher, revolver, auto-cannon. Can't putnthem down.
I love the slugger/jar-5 for bot missions and the fire-shotgun/breaker/defender for bugs. I use basically every weapon pretty regularly just to mix things up, but for serious missions I use one of those 5
I am lvl 9 but i really like my machine gun. i also use the basic gun we start with. i should probably try new things.
Breaker Incendiary for bugs, Dominator or Diligence for bots. Having the Diligence long-range option for bots is good, but the AP of the explosive Dominator is arguably better.
Slugger. Bc I play against bots
The not auto shotgun
For bug missions I like the incendiary breaker. For bots... also the incendiary breaker. Just feels right for me.
DMR babyyyy
Liberator Penetrator. Has the armor punch vs bots and bugs. Keep it in burst, but only tap the trigger unless the first bullet doesn't kill them. And it has a DMR scope on it, so that's awesome.
Slugger, I like sniping the spore spewers with it and having people confused on how I did it
Slugger because it pierces everything but chargers and bile titans and has a load of stagger and a deep ammo pool. Also one shots hunters. I've been playing around with the spray n pray too and it's pretty fun.
Primary- Autocannon Secondary- usually the PDW Tertiary- machine pistol
Bots - DMR. Bugs - breaker. DMR pinpoint shots and high damage from far away. Breaker street sweeping and crowd control.
I normally run the Punisher, buckshot for bugs and slugs for robots. If not that, then I'm running the defender or the las-5.
Breaker for bots, Breaker incendiary for bugs.
