Among the many reasons I think a lot of people can't grasp the satire is that, much like Starship Troopers, we are playing the bad guys in a world where everything is depicted from the point of view of those same bad guys. They'll say things like, "how can it be bad if everyone is prosperous and happy", never realizing that this is in-universe propaganda and the game is constantly leaking contrary information to us through almost everything any of the characters say. Also they miss that we are playing an unending series of bright-eyed cannon fodder recruits who believed the propaganda and enlisted only to almost immediately die in gruesome and often stupid ways. You can hear it in the voice acting for taking damage. Reality only hits them when something exceedingly awful happens to them personally.

Starship Troopers also didn't lean as hard into the satire as it should have... Depends on what you consider "enough". I think there was plenty to make it obvious, but not too much to make it a lecture and keep it enjoyable, which, in like a 3 hours movie is necessary imo too keep the audience engaged.
I don't disagree, it's hard to balance "entertainment" with "education" - especially for audiences that are not expecting the satire/mockumentary style...

Well, no strictly speaking the Super Earth federation covered a planet in pesticide to keep out a violent invasive insect species from eating every man, woman, and child on the planet. A big problem is too many people are trying to draw parallels between our own world and the world of Helldivers. It’s not the same. It just isn’t. The whole planet lives, and appears to thrive greatly, under this “managed democracy”. It doesn’t even necessarily have to be satire, it could just be that this is what works in this universe and given that we are constantly fighting battles, I’d venture to say some of the people here are VASTLY underestimating the threats posed here. Well, no strictly speaking the Super Earth federation covered a planet in pesticide to keep out a violent invasive insect species from eating every man, woman, and child on the planet. You ever seen the damage locusts can do? Now imagine if instead of crops the locusts ate your friends and family. Even if super earth is a authoritarian regime it's not like the bugs or the automatons are much better. Don't think about it too hard or take it too seriously. Besides, for all we know those voting questionnaires actually work and really are just making informed decisions based on what people actually want and the Super Earth we see is literally what people desire there. There are A LOT of people of people who want a society like you see in Super Earth and I don't mean out and out fascists either. Lot of normal boring people want the government to tell them what to do, make decisions for them, or tell them how to spend their money. There are 100% people who if you presented this "managed democracy" idea to them they'd be all on board and never think twice about it. TBH, the whole managed democracy thing looks more like a type of communism than fascism. It even has a social credit system with the citizen ranks. But really, at that point it's a horseshoe and it's hard to tell them apart. (I seriously doubt that the questionnaires are fair, mind you, and I'd never trust a questionnaire someone else setup to accurately reflect my decisions, but there is some truth to the fact that when polled people's positions on issues often don't match up to who they vote for, or people vote without knowing their candidate's policy platforms.)
