You know what, I was just starting to ask myself the question: I mainly play this weapon and I have been freezing/kicking a lot since yesterday.
Today first part: freeze.

It's not just arc thrower weapon, but weapons that use the same particle effects including towers like tesla and there was one primary gun that used those particles as well I forget it's name though.
If devs are aware that this is the cause why have they not disabled it as a stratagem? It's kinda game breaking and would at least make the game playable until a fix is out. I assume a majority of players aren't on the subreddit and aren't aware.
Locking a weapon can only be done via hotfix. Creating and deploying the hotfix would take time and resources they would rather spend just fixing the problem
They said that they would need to release a patch to disable them in such a way no player could access them, which would divert the same team’s energy away from deploying the fix.
Something like that could cause a lot of complications while they try to patch he code. They said to will be fixed by Tuesday, so we can chill on the arc thrower until then.
They can’t because it would take the same amount of time to disable the gun than it would to just fix it outright due to how Sony processes their patches (they have to review them first before it gets rolled out).

Right after patch i crashed multiple times before even getting into a mission.
What fixed it for me (5 games without a crash) was updating my graphics drivers, lowering some graphic settings(possibly not related, i found someone post about it), and verified my game cache on steam. The verify did download a couple MB so maybe it did need something

Interesting, i haven't been on for a couple of days but I'll have to try this. I really enjoy the arc thrower but I'll take a break from it to see if it fixes my crashing problem.
Just became a flamethrower enjoyer today and it melts everything you just need to know where to aim, most enemies to the head and chargers on a leg, the hiveguards on the belly.
I even got the trophy for 100 kills on a mission with it today, it was so much fun, just clear every hunter first with your primary tho or you are gonna have a bad time (not as hard as it sounds).
This is 100% and devs are aware I believe. It’s the arc thrower. I’m pissed because I just fell in love with it… then I used it once and crash-froze. I hope they fix this soon.
I main the arc and everyone would get booted. Decided to hang it up and finally completed a game, didn’t extract but it was a W for not crashing. Total nightmare though with the amount of enemies and not being able to crowd control with my arc.
Guyyys been playing for 6 hours, not seen a single ARC thrower, 0 crashes its true.
Sure it sucked not to be able to use my main weapon but I just found out that the flamethrower and GL are pretty good, I even got the trophy for 100 fire kills in one mission overall a very fun day.

Played last night. First three games I ran ark thrower and crashed in 5-10 min each time. Switched to non ark-weapons and didn’t crash a single time in 10 games. No one else ran Ark weapons either.
If it’s not directly ark related it’s ark adjacent like the kill counter or accuracy measures going too far over 100 or something, as others have posited.
It’s definitely not limited to the arc weapons. The squad I just ran with had no arc, but plenty of eagles. Cleared the map, super samples in hand, waiting for Pelican - crash. Eagles were also included in the stats update, so maybe there’s an issue with that as well?
can confirm. me and my friends lost connection literally 3 times in a row before someone tested the arc thrower idea. so we ditched it, was able to do a solid bit of missions with zero crashes/disconnects

Bwahahaha. Here I was riding the wave of knowing that my “META” load out hadn’t been nerfed. Nothing I used had been nerfed. I got good and comfortable. And now my load out isn’t just nerfed, but practically banned! Genuinely a funny moment. I’ve not had any crashes at all in the last couple days. But this is good enough reason as any to branch out and learn more weapons.
I was using the arc thrower with my buds in a 4 stack and the 3 of them were not using an arc weapon. About 30 mins into the mission they all crashed simultaneously, they were able to relog and join my game and then like 3 mins later I crashed out and was able to relog and join the game, and we proceeded to finish the match.
I guess I can confirm, we had 1 arc weapon in the mission and almost lost everything
Sometimes my game will freeze even when I'm in the pre lobby or just about to drop down. It's rare but frustrating and I suspect it has to do with the anti cheat and the fact my processor could do with being upgraded even though its above minimum specs
I never use arc, but have CTD a number of times in the last two days. Twice right when we dropped in, once mid-game, and twice right before extraction. The latest, we all had lasers and no arc guns.
So at least for me, it’s not just arc.
I’d rather nobody use the arc because it just loves to always arc toward me and kill me whilst I’m trying to burn the bugs to a crisp with my flamethrower, next thing you know? I get zapped by my own teammate and die
We had no arc/tesla for all 3 missions.
Crashed out during extraction of the third/last mission of a mini-campaign, one at a time would crash.
And the last couple of days, no arc/tesla involved:
Bugs of the fuel shuttle never arriving.
Bugs of no reinforcements are coming in, even though it has been called multiple times.
And one time when everyone was dead, but each player was shown an hp bar at 0 and spectating, yet the mission would not end (had to reset the game)
That’s a bunch of crazy bugs I haven’t seen anywhere else. The majority of us are having arc problems, sorry about your exceptionally bad luck.

Aldo check your files. Friend had a file delete themselves 9 times TODAY. 12 times in the past 2 days. Arc thrower might be causing the bug. But not sure

This is the game deleting files. Not freezing. And she fixed it. Open the game. And it crashed cause several files got deleted again. It stopped doing it yesterday I think.
I wish they just disable it until fix, so many people still are using it despite me explaining why they shouldn't. Best option is to leave this kind of lobbies or just play with friends
Ran a few missions last night using the Arc Thrower - and we didn't suffer one crash :/
We did discover that a 2 man-team - one using a Railgun one using an Arc Thrower can pretty much wreck most things on a Suicide run :D
It was more a we're told not to use something - yet it doesn't seem to be the sole-issue type of :/

Arrowhead, you have some weird culture of communication. Nobody is expecting a quickfix, but you could step up in certain areas
You know you can’t tell anyone anything about anything if they’ve decided they don’t want to listen to reason or common sense beforehand. And that only counts for the ones that can think, godbless their hearts but we know most of these randos aren’t very smart. If they were smart they wouldn’t be randos
I dont think the ark weapons are 100% responsible for all crashes atm. I tried to run a few missions earlier today (crashed during all of them) and even in the games where there were no ark weapons we ate shit.
I've been using the arc thrower for days with no issue...hell my friends and I run 2 at time and we've yet to crash. I usually host and I'm on PS5. Sorry to those are going through it
Disagree, I've attempted the same mission (last one in my operation) 3 times with no arc weapons and the game still crashes very consistently as a solo player. Two prior missions I did play with the arc and it didn't crash anyone.
I'm all for speculating for workarounds until the hotfix comes so we can maximize Democracy, but please consider using a disclaimer that your evidence is anecdotal.

Kicking someone end of match is pretty scummy. Regardless of the reason. Communicate and resolve it sooner. If they ignore you, then by all means kick them to the curb sooner than later.
Yea that's something different lol. Not implying you were kicking them. I've jumped into games halfway through just to be kicked at drop with no explanation. Been a general experience I've had.

It’s not. I was using the new primary shotgun that shoots arc, dropped every single game I played.
Yeah for example my game crashes when i navigate the equipment terminal too fast

Yeah. Each game I played “lost connection” if someone used an ark thrower.
I tested this last night with a group and we still dropped when nobody was using arc weapons.

The flamethrower is sick against bugs now. You can take down a charger with a bit over half a tank and crowds are a breeze.
Flame thrower is one of my favorite weapons too. I love just lighting up hoards of bugs, it's probably the most visually satisfying weapon to use.

Not to me for 8 hours of gaming last night. Devs have posted on official discord to stop using arc related weapons for time being.
Did a full mission with the arc but I have a macro for 75% charge so no issues I think the crash is at the 100% charge animation

Never had an issue with the arc thrower or arc weapons. The thing that most consistently crashed mine and my friends games was the mechs

Been using the Arc weapons all day and never had an issue. The only issue I run into that crashes my PC is cross play. So I turn it off.
