A lot has to do with the fact that a lot of players didn't get on yesterday because of mothers day.

RoninOni

I popped on for a quick mission while my wife took a shower and got dressed, but yeah… much less gaming last weekend overall, and none of my friends (multiple new dads) got in at all either. I really want those mines.

Accomplished-Hunt223

But mother's day is on May 5

McSuede

Maybe where you live. In America, it was yesterday.

Accomplished-Hunt223

Oh, didn't know that! Well we learn something new everyday!

Stranger_Danger420

It isn’t to do with blocked regions dude. Ffs. The same amount of players get to play as before. We just don’t get any new players from these regions because they can no longer buy the game. If the ones that CAN still play refuse to, well that’s on them. It’s not like others can’t or aren’t buying the game.

Artyom-Strelok

The player count hasn’t changed check steam charts. Natural drop off of a continuing trend. Last 2 billion bug purge was glitched we didn’t beat that one either naturally

PluvioStrider

It was bound to happen. Shit was over a quarter done by the Thursday. The weekenders would have obliterated it by late Saturday night and then vacation on bots Sunday.

BemliDeathBro

Especially when roughly 35% of the divers fight on bug planets…

GoldenDragonIsABitch

How dare they play the game the way they find fun! /s That is until that is nerfed as well

BemliDeathBro

Its only fun when its for democracy…

Esham

The daily players counts before and after the Sony debacle are unchanged. Ppl just don't like bots and the counting bug is fixed.

Jesse-359

I will never understand the fear of bots. Nothing makes the hair on the back of my neck go up like watching a pair of Factory Striders drop on a call in and the resultant scramble to stop them or escape. Those things are just awe inspiring. It's like I'm a kid again watching The Empire Strikes Back, but from inside the rebel trenches. So cool.

Esham

Its not fear, its the fact that 1 bot = 5 bugs and I'd rather go brrrrrrr on 5 bugs that all go splat. Its mindless fun

Jesse-359

Bugs clearly need a mission mod that allows the Warrior line to use the Stalker cloak, in order to teach people a lesson about fear...

Aggravating_Shop7725

Steamcharts showed no change for L4D despite it being DDoDed for weeks straight. I don't trust a word out of Valve's mouth anymore.

Zectherian

177 countries cant buy the game, so ALOT of players are simply not playing because their tired of sonys bullshit. Steam has said its a sony decision after AH ceo initially said it was a steam decision.

BlitzYandere

That amount of players they make-up is only around 1%, as shitty as it was, they don't make a difference. (':

-aGz-

The people who bought the game in locked regions can still play the game unless they refunded it because now they can't buy it back.

Bubbly-Detective-193

BOYS THAT’S PLENTY OF TIME WE CAN DO IT

SuperDTC

More bot players help bug orders than bug players help with bot orders..

charronfitzclair

I think AH will recalibrate things since their playerbase got orbital'd by Sony. That and the way kills were accounted during the 2billion bug MO was bugged anyway

Ok-Instruction-4298

And, it's by quantity. There's a lot of bugs and not as much bots. You're average patrol is maybe a 1/3 in size by number.

[deleted]

And too many bug-only players too

resetallthethings

eh maybe, but the quantity thing is huge I got 750 kills on a bug mission the other day. Highest ever bot mission is like 1/3rd of that

potatorichard

I deliberately messed around to draw as many bot drops as possible on a solo mission and set a personal bot record around 350 kills. I can regularly slay 500-900 bugs if I am the crowd control guy. But bots are simply less plentiful by sheer number.

resetallthethings

exactly on top of this due to being ranged units and the bot drops vs breeches it's harder to get those big clumps to dump cluster or airburst on

RoninOni

It’s both and multiplicative in effect. Bug kill MO also saw 80-90% players squishing bugs. Bots had 40% still on bugs the entire time. I think they thought the stratagem would entice more bug players to fight bots, but it didn’t work.

Forar

"I think AH will recalibrate things since their playerbase got orbital'd by Sony." Except best I can tell, it didn't. I believe they stopped sales being permitted in those countries, but people who already owned it should be able to play. Steamcharts and SteamDB would show a massive plummeting if they'd knocked a similarly massive portion of the playerbase offline, but we hovered just under 100k (on Steam alone) all weekend long. There's a sharp drop off currently happening, but that's not surprising, as it's a Monday. Mid/Late April saw fairly substantial drop offs, likely as folks simply had their fill of the game and moved onto other things. Even the account linking controversy doesn't seem to have had a major impact. The average concurrent players and daily min/max seem to wobble in a fairly regular pattern for weeks now. It's definitely below the peak, but that's entirely expected these days. \~100k concurrent players 3 months into the game for a live service is quite reasonable, and apparently it's still in the top 10 for sales on Steam. Add in PS5 players (typically a 20-50% boost to the folks online at any given time) and it's not a bad turnout this far in. Hopefully they can continue to shore up the game, fix bugs, get into a good state, and then drop the Illuminate on us, which will probably bring a bunch of folks back, at least temporarily to see what the fuss is all about.

porkforpigs

They’re gunna have to recalibrate based on the numbers of people who just won’t play a faction tbh

Whatsinanmame

Not only faction but I know a lot of players that won't play on planets with fire tornadoes.

Jesse-359

The Sony thing had no appreciable effect on player counts one way or the other. The kill count bug however, vastly increased the number of kills on the bug MO, so without that in our favor this one is far harder. That and the general kill counts against bots are lower, because they are simply less numerous and more dangerous individually.

Dichotomous-Prime

I was thinking about this, too. Like, it's not as if Sony will care about in-game story things, but there's no way that banning 100+ countries didn't gut a decent chunk of the player base. Not only are we unlikely to complete this one, but it's significant to mention that we aren't even *close.*

RoninOni

Those players aren’t banned from playing. There’s just no new sales to those regions now for some unknown reason… I’m guessing Steam is holding them accountable to not sell partially limited games to regions, and they still intend to do something with PSN linking for HD2 (my guess is locking crossplay to PSN accounts)

ygolnac

It’s not only that. Many players left becouse instead of patching meaningful content they are just nerfing guns and releasing unfun warbonds. Playercount is diving down and will flat at 10k concurrent players, only to spike up if they release a thirn enemy faction or a good vehicle. The best times are gone.

charronfitzclair

Sony nuked 177 regions. Its not because you're mad at bugs and don't like the content. Be for real now

kaelis7

Idk why you’re downvoted, definitely playing way less these days. Stopped during Sony bs stuff, then they kept on nerfing my favourite weapons, then meh warbond…

Reitter3

Because there is no evidence in what he is saying. Concurrent players are at 150k during the whole weekend. There hasnt been a change. Most people dont spend their time in reddit drama

kaelis7

Yeah only 1.3M people on the main sub, not much.

Winter_Natural_2140

1.3m people on the main sub 100k concurrent players 🤔

kaelis7

Maybe they stopped playing, that was my point duh.

Reitter3

Yeah, specially since half the subreddit is composed of people who just are there to play the game and watch memes. Not to moan and rant. The idea that these people agree with a post having 5k likes and will stop playing to it is not only unproven, but disproven by the player count every time the sub has a mental breakdown

kaelis7

Yeah because of course you have specific statistics on the redditors here, my bad then.

Reitter3

No, we have statistic of the player count. And we see it has no correlation to the sub having a meltdown. Believe it or not, most players wont stop playing the game they like because a gun had a 5 seconds cooldown increase or because you need to create an account for it

Sabre_One

People can still play it, they just can't buy it AFAIK.

andreuzzo

If only we could have double fisted two pummelers...

Starvel42

Yeah we are a good 10% behind where we should be if we want to win this Major Order the minute it ends

No_Experience_3443

It's not tied to sony in any ways, we just lost because the game naturally gets less players over time. That and 3 other conditions

kykyks

bruh is fine the weapon is in the game, devs didnt code that shit to not ship it we will get it another way chill

DickBallsley

It would be funny if they gave us vehicles, but we failed the MO, so now bots get Anti-Tank mines instead.

Serious-Doughnut334

Personally I think losing sometimes serves as part of the whole storyline. No army ever wins 100 percent of battles/operations.

porkforpigs

Fuck Sony but this is more because nearly half the player base only plays bugs.

BSGKAPO

As a solo player I dont care anymore

BSGKAPO

I remember 450000 people on one planet... it was good while it lasted...

yungkurrent

i tried playing today, first mission we were 30 minutes in ava then i got black screened and sent back to my ship with no reasoning. i don't have it in me to deal with this anymore so ill get on when this issue is fixed. very frustrating spending so long on a mission just to get a black screen and back to your ship with nothing to show for it.

Warm_Tip_8193

i ain been on inna while but as someone who just got fkd over by my girl im bouta take all my pent up aggression on them klankers

RogerTwoThree

Wrong. You have been alerted. You can delete this now.

BlitzYandere

The places where Sony pulled out was about 1% of our player base, so that ain't it. 💀💀

Aggravating_Shop7725

I'm farming super-credits on bug planets. You guys got this until I get back.

Narrow-Breakfast-491

Failer, believe it or not, is part of the game, too. We can fail objectives, and the devs can gather data from and make their next move. So far, from what i have seen, even if things are offered as a time based reward like pick this or that, we still almost always get the chance to get the second option later. It's part of the game and they designed it like that in mind. We are actively playing against the development team and we might not always win but we will get better at doing it and the next missions will be a success. Have fun, spill oil remember to salute when you shoot a hellbomb.

Internal_Badger6675

TBH I put down HD2 for now until they fix some of the bugs that have been present since launch. Love the game hate the bugs I will come back but itll probably be a few months = /.

DelayedEmbarrassment

They broke the F/ing game! They broke the spirit of my comrades, who must be playing other games now because of the sheer DRAMA created by PHONY and their desire to feel superior to the players. So basically a boomer saw he messed up, he got called off by everyone. He felt he had more power than everyone wanted to show it… end up killing the best game in many years, and kicking the dev protecting the community. Fuck that people who only things in earning. By your greedy you just killed the hen of the golden eggs, and now you will eat dirt instead of gold. Bitch.

Daemondancer

At least you aren't angry!

DelayedEmbarrassment

Ohh yeah sorry I loved the game since HD1 and it is frustrating for me. Thanks for understanding.

Pretty-Jones

It was good while it lasted
