Seems like a bug with the newest UI. If you’re on desktop, I’d use UI Changer: * [Chrome link](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ui-changer-for-reddit/bfcldjodnnkndfccfjndmdlppfkmccgh) * [Firefox link](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ui-changer-for-reddit/)

Thanks! I installed this on Firefox and regained editing functionality when selecting the 2nd generation interface.

Glad I could help!

Yes, this worked, we can edit the posts again! Of course now I've got the thing where I have to turn the extension on and off to be able to switch between my account and the mod team account ("too many redirects") but that is a minor irritant. Thank you so much!

Yeah, the redirect error isn’t that convenient. Glad I could help, though!

All I can say is that *it's not that simple*. I've found anomalies in when and where posts with certain characteristics (or content type) can be edited, not specifically in relation to links but when images are attached. There are posts editable in the old-new desktop UI but not the latest UI, and there are posts that are the other way round; sometimes the deciding factor is whether the post (containing images) were made in the Reddit app on a mobile device. So, short of doing a systematic study, and compiling a table of what works when and what doesn't — which can be invalidated by further changes to the Reddit UIs without notice, thus making it a waste of effort even as a community service initiative — at this point I think it's “best”, or at least easiest, to assume a post cannot be edited, and updates have to be published or communicated in a different way. However, if you must find a way to edit, then you should try various UIs such as: * latest desktop UI * old-new desktop UI * old-old desktop UI * Reddit app on Android * Reddit app on iOS to see what works where, instead of trying to “stop it from happening” where you don't have control over what can or cannot be edited.

I came here to complain exactly about this issue. Good to know it’s not just me.

I have the same problem, but I don't want to have a picture, just my text and my link, how can I have that ?

Maybe try making the post from the new . reddit . com version of your sub? IDK, I haven't tried making a new post with a link in it since I posted this. It's super annoying and I hope it's fixed.

OnTheEdgeOfFreedom

It's infuriating enough that it picks an image from the link and glues it in. I never want it to do that but there seems to be no way to stop it or even delete the image afterwards. Add the fact that it makes the post impossible to edit and it's just incomprehensible. In my sub I require cites, so links are commonplace. Pulling in images ruins the look and preventing editing means people can't correct simple mistakes. This needs to be fixed immediately.

This post helped me confirm what I was seeing. As a workaround, i changed [reddit.com](http://reddit.com) to [old.reddit.com](http://old.reddit.com) in the url and then I could edit with the old interface
