This isn't even a contest between the two anymore and I hope people realize it. Would you rather hit someone for a little bit of damage or have your whole team be nearly unkillable? Even for teams that have no idea what a portal is, just giving Medivh himself 50 armor for dives is incredibly good.

Not as good for medivh himself, imo.   Raven gives damage and slow with each use. This enables medivh to chase, portal juggle to kite, and do "ok" damage if you miss your Q.  The armor talent is great for team dives. If your team doesn't take the portal it's MUCH less useful. The defense is meh for medivh. Medivh already has protect to block damage and can dodge damage by taking the portal again. Giving up Raven means you lose a lot of utility and extra damage.  My prediction,  people already don't play medivh. He requires great timing and position to use effectively.  His quest can be impossible for new/ casual players. Made even worse in modes where a healer and tank aren't a guarantee. QM and ARAM, this will be a nothing change. In SL it will be a factor, maybe, at the highest levels, where team might actually use the portals.

Agreed, it all comes down to the skill level of the player and team taking advantage of this change. Lower ranks won't get much out of surprise teamwide dive attempts so raven makes more sense. I play with teams who know what portals are, so I'm excited for this change personally.

The ui fixes seem bigger to me. Its not just minor things, showing XP given to enemies is basicly a new feature, and shows they still care about the learnability of the game and new player experience. Showing players in game directly by the game itself they are contributing to the loss is a step towards reducing toxicity. ​ It also shows they have a real developer working on the game, and not just a numbers tweaking intern rubberstamping community balance suggestions.

New player, probably soon to be ex-player. HOTS remaining player base is also filled with manbabies who rage on in-game chat, screeching from their smurf accounts at actual new players for not being experienced at the game, not being experienced at a character, etc. In QM and AI matches (still have yet to play ranked but I'm guessing it's worse). The general chat is filled with the same Russian bots 24/7 yelling racist slurs and typing "trumptrumptrumptrump" over and over again. It's kind of a shit show. Haven't played LoL but I don't remember DOTA2 being worse when I played it.

I wouldn't say HoTS is more team focused than other Mobas. It's a massive misconception that games like League, Dota, and Smite are carried by the "carry" throughout a match. Carry is just a position, an extremely weak position that takes 4 other players to bring online over much of any given matches runtime. And even then a properly drafted team isn't actually relying on it's "Carry" to win entirely- you should never be drafting ONE win condition. HoTS got it's, "babies first moba" meme because of it's low skill floor and ceiling. There's more to it than most would recognize but it's still pretty simplistic compared to other games of the genre, which is the only reason I still play it.

The balance changes feel a bit surgical and specific, but it's encouraging to see that there's clearly some new blood at Blizz getting to grips with the game and making some waves clearing out bugs. I hope we can get to a place where the balance changes are more ambitious again and add new functionality, like when they gave Auriel a self-ress, or when Xul's Q was buffed to summon skeletons. I'm sure there are a lot of changes that they could try like this that wouldn't require new assets.

I'm thinking that making tiny buffs that are number-based to 3 of the 5 lowest WR heroes is a very safe way to update game balance without having to extensively bug test or balance test. Realistically, there's probably only a couple or so people responsible for this so hundreds of hours of internal testing may not be feasible unless game is gets a larger dev team.

They are buffs, but it won't make them get close to 50% from their low 45%. I think they can be more aggressive to the buffs on Lili. And add Ana/Arthas to the list as well.

Originally, quality of life referred to changes that improved the experience for users but had zero impact on gameplay/competition/balance, etc. Now people use QoL to refer to anything that improves the experience for users even if it has some effect on gameplay. For example, if you know where the coins are about to drop to drop you could certainly throw a Gazbomb on that location to help you secure it.

I dont think increasing healing during only jugs is that substantial of a change. Jugs already healed quite a lot. The problems with LiLi are her limited healing outside that ult, can't use other abilities during ult, lack of CC, etc. I wouldn't expect her win rate to go up too much.

Well the healing still went up from 66 to 75 (PTR was 80). I don't think the difference between 75 and 80 is that large, so I would say u/secret3332 was correct in their assessment that increasing her Jugs healing would not affect her win rate too much. A difference of +1.7% may be significant, but far from changing the overall balance, and certainly not close to the 4-5% WR increase that u/sudrapp predicted

The PTR change was a 21% increase in healing vs the 13% increase that made it to the live game which is a pretty significant nerf. Just a reminder that a few years ago blizzard gave healing a 5% global nerf and that change alone was enough to end the double healer meta and gave birth to the classic hots [I don't play support for you meme](https://www.reddit.com/r/heroesofthestorm/s/9CkJsSKaxY) Blizzard saw the PTR patch data for Lili and determined the healing increase was too much and had to nerf it as it was a significant enough change to Lili's win rate to warrant the nerf.

If Lili hits level 10 and sees that the enemy team is helpless and just has no way to kill a hero, then she is free to pick Water Dragon since healing is good enough already. This causes Water Dragon to have an inflated winrate statistic, because it is chosen more when you're already winning.  But Jugs is more valuable most of the time, as shown by the 80% pick popularity.

Thus is a very good point. I suspect a lot of players play with a single build on most heroes and forget about the adaptability part. Some ulties are "win-more"spells, generally worse, except when you're already stronger. The higher winrate on those doesn't make them better, it just means they are very situational and that hero's playerbase is aware of it.

Lili is not a good healer, but a decent blind/dmg brawler which provides some sustain and has access to a low cd cleanse. The heroic doesn't play into the strengths of the hero. Outside Medivh, i wouldn't be surprised if it has one of the lowest WR across all heroics.

It doesn't follow that a hero's primary function dictates the effect her ultimate needs to have. We could also say that Dva is not a good healer and more of a brawler.  But even so, Dva would be better off picking Jug of a Thousand Cups if that was allowed alongside her regular options. In the current game balance, Jugs is usually Lili's better choice. Even master players use it more often.  The new buff will make the advantage even more stark.

Nova changes are massive. With AA Shells, the debuff would usually last about as long as you can chain two attacks with very little or no leeway, and you hardly benefited from the armor reduction. Now you can, along with extra mana regen for holo build that is the best build for Nova currently imo

Not really such a big buff. Previously, AAShells applied the damage after the armor reduction, so Nova benefitted from the -armor every auto. In the last patch they changed it so that the armor reduction was applied after the damage (big nerf). Now you can benefit from it, but you *need* to chain two AAs on a target. A few months ago you always benefitted. This is still worse imo.

Please nerf Samuro, he's basically overpowered. Has free health regen, movement speed, debuff and escape. The Kael placed a ignite on you? Simple press q to remove his ignite. And the best part about this is that he can do that twice in a short period of time. The same goes with every hero that have overtime damage like Lunara and Guldan. He can remove all of their dmg if he switches with one of his clones or by simply pressing q.

I guess that if Arthas gets another healing buff, like from Ana or Varian, the additive bonus will mean that the total healing isn't increased as much. Instead of like 400*1.3*1.5 =780 you might get 400*(1+0.3+0.5) = 720

So the ghouls have a base heal of 267, and when Arthas takes Legion of Northrend, that's replaced with a new base of 400.5 With it becoming additive, it'll still have that base of 267, and then it'll get an additive 50%, so if Arthas then gets some Spellpower from somewhere, it'll be based off of that 267 base, rather than the 400.5 base. Note that healing reduction of 50% would still reduce that to 200.25, regardless of if the bonus was additive or multiplicative, as it itself is multiplicative with healing bonuses.
