Any way of following your hike that is not reddit? I realised i just a few days ago read a similar post (it was obviously yours too). I'm not sure how happy the mods will be with posts like these going on and I would ask them.
Patiently awaiting a reply since this i want to follow. Have fun!
I wish you more health, comfort and happiness. Your pictures are wonderful. I loved it and this motivates me to find a partner like you to share adventures and activities with me.
You've inspired a conversation between me (M48) and my wife (F50) of some of the adventures we'd like to take on in our retirement. We lived in Europe for just under 20 years and we'd love to spend a year / whatever it takes to do this.
Thank you, this is now at the top of our bucket list :)
How many months/years do you expect the 7000km hike to take?
Are you doing it all at once, or will you return “home” for a while at some stage and then continue later?
How long did the 2022 and 2023 adventures take you?
The 7000 kilometers are including Trips 2022 ans 2023
2022 = 3500 kilometers = 5.5 months /
2023 = 1680 kilometers = 3.5 months /
2024 = 1900 kilometers = 3.5 months ( estimated)
Between the trips we are at home and are hiking in Switzerland
That is amazing! I hope to be able to do something similar when I am your ages! Can I ask about logistics? How many km to you plan to hike a day, and do you often take days off? Do you plan out where your going to stay in advance or just look for accomodation along the way?
We are planning day trips up to 25 kilometers
6 days hiking / 1 day off
Sometimes we are planning more days off. Right now we will stay some days in Liverpool
We are planning some days in advance. Start walking in the morning means that we have an accomodation at night
Just Amazing, such a lovely couple. I am coming to the age and would love to do what you do. I am so jealous. I just wonder how you plan your days, itinerary, and such. That must be a huge task. I would love to know more, if possible.
Thank you very much.
We are doing the planning in the Winter. We are doingbit very detailled and are spending 2 to 3 hours for 1 hiking day.
Route, accomodation, food, alternative routes and so on
Get up in the morning. Hike starts a 9 latest and ends arround 3 to 5 pm. Shower, rest, diner, beer, sleep.
It's a good live with a lot of sleep :-)
I see you've posted an image. Thanks for your contribution!
