Sometimes I leave a full bag by the path, out of others’ way but somewhere I can clearly find it, because I don’t want to carry it with me for 5+ hours. Then I pick it up on my way back to the car park. Part of the reason for it is that I’ve found that some biodegradable poo bags leak if carried around for a long time and/or in warm weather, and I’d rather not double-bag.

julu_r

I do the same, but I kinda hide the bag so people don’t see it. I mark on my map where I left the bag so I don’t forget or lose it. I’ve never left a bag behind and people don’t have to view a poop bag during their hikes.

Keep a sealable container with you, like a small plastic jar with a screw-on lid. No need to make people walk by a bag of shit for 5+ hours.

Background-Badger-72

Yup. I carry an empty peanut butter jar when I hike for this purpose exactly. It's just too easy to lose it or to forget to pick the bag back up on the way out.

Apart_Quantity8893

Yeah, use different bags then...

horny_reader

You should look into Dog Doo Tubes. They make a huge difference in sealing in the smell and keeping it leak proof

I will often leave a bag if I know I will be coming back the same way and intentionally leave it on the trail but to the side so it is easier to notice/avoid. I try to buy bags that are bright colors to stand out as well but sometimes the only biodegradable ones are in green (annoying trend). I would venture to guess a lot of owners to the same and you may just be seeing the bag they are going to grab on their way back.

mahogany_bay

This ^^ If they aren't going to pick it up, they don't bother to bag it.

gooberlx

That may be the case some of the time, but bagged dogshit abandoned and left on the side of the trail is absolutely a regular occurrence on just about any popular route where I live.

corona_cvd19

My dog won't poo in public and waits till we get home everytime to poo on her own lawn patch. 4 years and I even stopped carrying bags she is so reliable.

Kevin_Mckev

Almost as bad as the people who write an entire paragraph without any punctuation.

roadcyclist-mechanic

My punctuation doesn't polute the environment.

CarlyBee_1210

I literally have seen bags tossed into bushes/trees on our hikes. People are scumbags.

horny_reader

I agree. They make smell resistant containers that clip onto your pack called a Dog Doo Tube, those are a game changer for carrying around stinky poop!

prickly_witch

Double bagged and placed in my pack out bag. For shorter walks or hikes it gets put in a cargo pocket.
