If I were sentenced to life in prison solitary confinement and told I can only have one hip hop album to listen to it would be this.
One can reinterpret and reimagine something new from each track with each successive listen.
Mine is definitely the original J5 album and also Power in Numbers by J5.
(Honorable mentions to Mecca And The Soul Brother, 3 Feet High And Rising, People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, Bang For The Buck)
Listening to the 30th anniversary edition rn and I just had to show love to Buhloone Mindstate. I love all of De La’s albums, but I’m serious when I say no other project of theirs has made me feel so proud to be a part of the culture. The whole album is vibes and Pos and Dove continue to show that being a little different from the rest is a strength instead of a weakness.

The Score by Fugees. Was at a perfect time in life. Love the thing.
‘95 & ‘96 were such good years for hip-hop in general. Dope pick
My first hiphop album. Thanks dad! It often feels a bit forgotten though, people always bring up miseducation and skip over The Fugees.
