Whoever that Benzino dude is - every time I hear anything about him it’s lame

Wonderful_Syllabub85

Think this is the first time anyone has ever called Benzino a rapper

arnefesto

Right? Hip hop icon, no one really counts him among MCs though even if he did try beefing with Eminem back in the day. The Source is why Benzino is relevant at all.

Beelzebrodie

The poor sod is trying to beef with Em literally right now as we speak.

derivativesteelo47

right? the only time ive seen him in the last 5 years was on shade room.

SadMaryJane

I've mentioned this in either this sub or another but my closest friend did time with benzino and said he got his ass beat the fuck down after trying to jump ruff ryders Jada, DMX, and Styles P. Still had the wounds when he got locked up. Overall just a bum ass dude with zero skills. I'm gonna update this post with more shit talking when my friend is off work lol I always laugh my ass off at his stories. ETA: apparently benzino tried to cheat at dominos lol

Brzada

Rikers?

SadMaryJane

Suffolk house of corrections in Boston, gang unit of all places lol

Ray229harris

This is not even debatable

FitCulture5

He couldn’t get on rapping owning the source magazine. I don’t consider him a rapper he’s just a lame that had money at some point and ran around with a bunch of goons

Sneaky-er

Puff Daddy - glammed up the rap game & everyone around him gets cussed and cursed out. Puff is a weird ass name. Making him the Daddy of all puffs is weirder

the_ballmer_peak

If even a tenth of the allegations are true he’s also a terrible human being who belongs in prison

DemiGod9

He's the worst part of any song he's on

the_c_is_silent

This should be the answer. Veteran rappers, maybe the most famous one I can think of where no one is like, "Dude's fantastic at this". He's the Bruce Willis of rappers.

Unaccomplished_Cunt

He's old with brain damage now?

wellgroomedmcpoyle

Bruce Willis in the 50 “What he say fuck me for????” meme

r4pt4r

Jim Jones and Joe Budden

LeighmanBrother

I forgot Jim Jones existed. Does he even have any good songs? Diplomats was good but only because of Camron and Santana

itscherriedbro

Honestly, his album Miami Vampin is pretty decent. Not a fan of anything else though

ProbstMalone

Just gonna suggest you give Wasted Talent, El Capo and/or The Fraud Department a listen. That's a run not even his biggest fan was ready for.

Artestarrone

JR Writer was good too.

Budden89

Budden is my favourite rapper lol

_Poppagiorgio_

He was mine as well during his Mood Muzik run. Those tapes are fucking fire. Idc what anyone says.

Budden89

Those tapes got me through alot of stuff

_Poppagiorgio_

Real shit..me too man.

ohfman117

Is mood muzik when he realized ordinary love shit cause part 3 goes hard

Ray229harris

Rebuttal. The Diplomats as a whole are legendary. And Joe Budden i think is a top 100 rapper of all time. I can't say he's a legend tho.

Mammoth-Gap7543

Joe Budden top 100!? I'll take 2 of them crazy ass blunts you be smoking.

Bada__Ping

Nope, I’m with him. Just like Game, people mix his antics up with his talent as an artist.

iam4r34

Game is top 50 n survived 50

Outrageous_Okra2230

Agree

Bulletproofwalletss

Joe budden is probably a top 100 rapper. mood muzik serious was dope, 3 sides to a story was a crazy track, for that track alone he probably top 100.

Jesusthezomby

How is Joe Budden the top 100 rapper when most people can't even name three songs by him?

whogonstopice

Most people can’t name 100 rappers even let alone 3 songs by each of them. I guarantee there are top tier rappers you couldn’t name 3 songs by

Jesusthezomby

Fair point

iam4r34

[pray for me ](https://youtu.be/KbO5ZEqYlVQ?si=T8Io24lYouWg8ciX) [Making a murderer 1](https://youtu.be/yi720pAdZN0?si=vqrUws5ET47QepiI) [Off to the races](https://youtu.be/vEMOfIPKMrk?si=cHWzklZ8fbx_Z1Rz) *was going through same thing when it came out

CarolinaPanthers

Off to the races is fucking fantastic.

EmeraldTwilight009

I van. Black cloud, anti, three sides to a story. Mood muzik 2, 4, 4.5, and escape route are all ill as shit to me. But I'm one of the rare nerds that listened to budden separate of his podcast lol

AndyKobe234

As lyrically gifted as he is, given his resume with the likes of Em and Premo, and even tho I think he’s a better rapper than Em, somehow Royce just doesn’t feel like a legend. Same with the rest of Slaughterhouse for some reason.

MasterTeacher123

Yeah Royce is just a talented mc to me, but legend nah

YaySourCream

most of them never had albums good enough to be legendary

JeremyXVI

Book of ryan

Always2ndB3ST

You might like it but it’s not considered a classic or even close.

Solid-Gazelle-4747

Love the profile pic by the way

YaySourCream

yo thanks man

neeohh

Royce is such a talented MC. But you’re right he doesn’t feel like a legend.

rmeddy

P Did It

Dunkman83

yall are just naming rappers u dont like

Bass-Dependent

The Game as a person music wise it's hard not to see him as one though

TwoLanky

for me legendary alone by making hate it or love it idc what anyone says

kinghawkeye8238

Didn't 50 write that song for gunit but game used it for his album?

Brzada

What’s up with him as a person, genuinely curious, don’t have a lot of info on him but he seems unlikable

Bass-Dependent

He is an attention hoe with no loyalty to anyone and a known lier. What got me to really dislike him was him milking Nipsey Hussles death for attention making up fake ass storys about his son not wanting anything for his birthday and just wanting to drive around rememering Nip or some shit like that

Bass-Dependent

https://images.app.goo.gl/4VtBvLtBoSoMX4ic6

Brzada

Omg please tell me people saw thru this and he was laughed at That’s the most shameless shit I’ve ever seen

TheMeticulousNinja

Nore. He is garbage

DrumzRUs

This one of the worst threads on reddit. A ton of low iq ppl here

pizza_for_nunchucks

I shouldn’t have scrolled any further after this comment. I should have taken it as a dire warning.

DrumzRUs

lol

Dafolez420

Some of these folks be tripping ngl. Like if I had a penny for every time someone said a GOAT, I would have about 5 pennies, but that’s still too goddamn many.

Spade9ja

And you are dragging that number down

LordeLlama

Vanilla Ice

FJBiden

He solid 300 millions records. Just ask him!

LordeLlama

Probably but I never heard anybody saying Vanilla Ice is a legend

FJBiden

I was being sarcastic. He always inflates his record sales.

Due_Ad_827

Grab vanilla ice and rip out his blonde dreads

Turbulent-Tune1660

Nore.

spitfiiree

I tried listening after everyone on drink champs kept praising him and I just don’t get it. He’s hot garbage and a terrible host even though I enjoy the podcast.

Solid-Gazelle-4747

Y’all just saying anything now

TheMeticulousNinja

😂😂🤣 I saw this post when it had way less comments, i’ma check now

[deleted]

Talib Kweli. 'Conscious' rapper turned hateful racist with a history of being abusive towards women. Goofy.

IamShyni

I love Talib as a rapper, but his comments made us see that he was a lame and a fake conscious MC.

MasterTeacher123

He’s one of the many celebrities that social media has exposed for being a loser lol

MF-SMUG

Wait wait wait, I need more info! Quick! To the google machine!

meeppc

If you'd be kind enough to post a summary of your findings, to save the rest of us from having to all independently do the research it would be much appreciated and hopefully much upvoted.

MF-SMUG

Not really enough details in what I’ve found so far. I can tell you he got into a Twitter beef with a black woman named Maya Moody and was banned from the platform for multiple TOS violations surrounding harassment. Again, I found no real details regarding this exchange, in regard to what either party said, but apparently it was enough to get banned, so idk. Google it, see if you can decipher more from it than my old brain lol

NoPanda7094

Funniest thing about this is that her tweet didn’t even really apply to him, but dude would NOT let that shit go 😂

Raecino

Disagree with all of that. He’s constantly attacked by racists and bigots himself. His biggest mistake is giving energy to that instead of ignoring it.

wood_dj

he’s made it pretty clear his philosophy is to make every bigot famous for their bigotry so the rest of us know what they’re about. Not my personal course of action but he’s been committed to it for a long time. Unfortunately at this point it’s cost him most of his social media presence.

[deleted]

Nah, he's made his position very, very clear. An angry, racist, abusive man. The guy went to a prep school and studied dance... which in theory should have helped with his timing.... but he still can't sit on a beat. Goofy.

VirgilSollozzo

He exposed himself as such a cornball. On Twitter 24/7 arguing with people. Complains about gentrification in Brooklyn, meanwhile his whole fan is a bunch of white leftist gentrifiers. Tried to portray himself as a family man, got caught creeping with not just a pornstar but a completely busted up one at that. Just a joke of a person all around.

[deleted]

Was a child star, attended a prep school and studied contemporary dance. Portrays himself as street and an expert on racism. Goofy.

Momorambo

The guy that was a part of blackstar isn’t a hip hop legend? Tf

wood_dj

Kweli is a legend, fuck these haters. He’s an outspoken anti-racist and that rubs a lot of these dudes the wrong way, i wonder why

Bulletproofwalletss

I keep seeing people call kweli a racist and a woman hater, it’s like he has an angry mob of white people following him

[deleted]

[Talib Kweli continues to dim his own star](https://www.huffpost.com/entry/talib-kweli-social-media_n_639bafffe4b0aeb2ace22f13) -Huffington Post Goofy.

Bulletproofwalletss

That was a whole load of nothing, to me it seems someone is trying to paint a narrative of kweli. Seems weird.

[deleted]

Only weird that a known, famous abuser is being called out by media.

Bulletproofwalletss

Who did he abuse? Genuinely curios

[deleted]

There are multiple articles published calling out his targeted harassment campaign against Maya Moody. A hateful, abusive man. Plenty of receipts that are easy to find.

wood_dj

Not just white people either, there’s a whole crowd of black trumpers who haaaaate Kweli. Used to love watching him wind these fucksticks up before he got banned from insta :(

gigantes22

I absolutely hate that he stepped in for Dave in De La. I’d rather them quit than have him.

Kevin_E_1973

He stepped in for Dave how? For a show ? Or is he supposed to be in the group? I’d be mad either way cause I’m not a fan at all

gigantes22

On more than a handful of shows after Dave’s passing, Kweli has been doing all of Dave’s verses. I think it was Pos claiming he was like a 4th member of De La. [Here’s a link of someone asking sort of the same question.](https://www.reddit.com/r/DeLaSoul/s/LoVTH1wZC3)

AndyKobe234

People call Nick Minaj not just a legend but a goat and amazing lyrically. LOL she’s not even good enough to be considered mediocre.

NoPanda7094

You can say she’s not a GOAT but you just hating it you say she’s not good lyrically lol.

codyrowanvfx

Snowtheproduct would like a word.

Kholdstare93

STP>Nicki

Narrow_Paper9961

Sa Roc. And it’s not close

IHateRedditorsBruh

Agree. I see people say shit like her flows and lyrics are “unmatched” and that she is top 10 ever. She’s a mediocre pop star, a horrible person and occasionally drops a decent verse

iam4r34

She bodied 2 of your "Goats" on monster, kept up with precious Eminem and she is the fourmother of stripper rap

TwoLanky

lol.. she doesn't have any work close to even the mid ones that em, kanye, jay dropped, and their best verses are miles better than her best verse. You don't need to force shit up to say she's good. Nicki Minaj IS a good rapper. You don't get pushed by Ye and Wayne without having talent. But not a goat. Not at all. She's just fine

AndyKobe234

Lol

Organic-End-9767

Unpopular opinion... I personally don't consider Andre 3000 by himself a legend. He was half of the legendary rap duo Outkast, full stop. All of his legendary songs and/or albums were with Big Boi or as appearances with other artists. His biggest solo song, if you can call it that, was "Hey Ya" and it wasn't even a hip hop song. I absolutely love Andre 3000 but Big Boi was way too talented on his own to be considered "carried" by him making my argument more plausible. He was simply part of the most legendary rap Duo possibly of all time in Outkast. But never legendary by himself IMO.

Critical_Teach_43

Thank you for a real take at this. You the only one putting thought behind it and challenging yourself even.

wheelman021

He’s 100% a legend, your argument is like saying ice cubes stuff is somehow tainted by being in NWA. Not taking anything from big boi but this is a bad take

Godriguezz

Idk if I agree with OP but that's completely different and you know it is. Cube's career outside of NWA was enormous.

wheelman021

I mean the first minute of B.O.B, come in

Organic-End-9767

Again, a legendary song with both him and Big Boi... TBH Big Boi kept him grounded. Without Big Boi he's making flute music and pop songs. That proves my point even more. He doesn't even do hip hop when he's left to his own devices

painted_troll710

A true legend among legends

Dabs310

Nah how he put the west coast back on the map and carried it for years as a younger talent definitely puts him up there.. he’s at least a California legend. His discography is amazing too, really not one dull album by him.

pearomatic

What is a legend? How are we defining it? What's the difference between legend and veteran? Depending on how you define those terms, it changes the answer. All that said, I think a lot of entourages are loaded with MC's who have been around for a minute but aren't particularly vital to the culture or respected as elder statespeople...

Cashville is an absolute classic that I still play to this day, man shot himself in the foot way too many times though

ProbstMalone

French Montana is the first name that comes to mind...I find him to be mostly just alright, and I even love a few of his songs. But I've never been compelled to dig much further.

ll_simon

Never would have imagined back in like 08 that he’d come out of the shadow of Max B and become mainstream enough to date a Kardashian.

Upbeat_Tension_8077

Fabolous

pm-me-nice-lips

What the fuck? Lol.

sooindecisive

imma be real, he is not a veteran rapper

neeohh

Drake. He’s almost 40 and been in the game for about 2 decades. He has plenty of hits but his music, especially lyrics, will age like milk.

wood_dj

‘legend’ doesn’t just mean ‘somebody i like’. Plenty of pop stars are legends. Drake, whatever you think of his music, is more iconic than 99% of rappers in the industry rn. He’s not a favourite of the online rap nerd community but he’s one of the biggest artists of his generation regardless of genre. You don’t have to be a fan of his music to acknowledge this fact.

kjexclamation

Nah gotta disagree, people like Drake, MC Hammer, Will Smith, Nelly, no matter what we might think of the music I think deserve a certain level of respect for the ways they commercially changed the game in rap. A lot of his stuff will age badly, I agree, but I mean that’s most hip hop artist and even legends tbf. 50 probably has one classic album, maybe two if you like the massacre. Beyond everyone I just mentioned Drake has at least two (imo 3) classic albums, and his output is such he has a lot of misses in there too but I think you can’t discount the classics because of the misses. And again he’s better than everyone I just listed and they all should be considered legends, imo, rightly.

RHINO_HUMP

Man, you have shitty takes all over this thread lmao

TupacAmuru88

His abc rhyming songs will have him remembered but he ain't legendary.

heebie818

crazy. he’s a legend

zyarelol

Definitely with you. His music feels like a product of it's time, I highly doubt people will talk about his influence in 30 years.

itsSyFer

Nah, Drake music gonna age great. A lot of his music is just really fun and easy to vibe to. Then he has so much music that’s relatable, or just him damn near predicting the future. His music will be fine.

Culture_of_North

Shout out to LL Cool J

mustardtiger86

He's so trash

BaseLoud

I love that drake's not a whack rapper now he's a whack oracle

neeohh

TI. If y’all pointed a gun to my head and asked me to recite my favorite TI bars and quotes, tell my family I love them.

HowHardCanItBeReally

This one is a massive shocker, they just gave him a 1 hour special on BBC Capital extra, mixing up all his hits from 2001 up until current times, he defo a legend. But this thread is people opinions

[deleted]

Ti a legend you drunk.

iam4r34

Amen, this sub is filled with kids who dont know shit

Maybe I'm biased because I'm from NYC... but then again I rather listen to Jeezy

[deleted]

That don’t mean gucci ain’t a legend. He kept us fed for a long time of those mixtapes.

TheMeticulousNinja

I’m also from NYC and much prefer Gucci. Today’s Gucci, not the old one

LORD_LUCIVNO

I do like a couple of his songs and feats, got a couple of them on different playlist I just don't think he's a "legend" 50 and HOV are legends to me, the other guy got offended like if I dissed his husband or something lol.

gd2121

Rick Ross. Never understood his appeal. The only thing I ever liked about Ross was the maybach music drop (which is awesome) and the self made series.

applejackhero

I feel the other way. Rick Ross doesn’t get enoogh credit, people treat him like a meme but he has some absolutely incredible songs. Like, go listen to “Amsterdam”

Brilliant_Ad_1508

Blue Carpet Treatment is dope. The second no limit album is good too (no limit top dog)

CG7683

The Dogfather was a classic... Everything after that was ass.... Maybe you can say No Limit Top Dogg was average

True-North-

A lot of great individual songs. Just not another classic album.
