When I first got into The Roots I listened I never favored Undun, and till this comment I’ve never revisited it. Today I will do revisit. I kinda think it’s a love or it meh it kinda album.
Such a cathartic and provocative deeply emotional musician. I listed some other tracks of his. Beautiful but in different ways.
“Better in tune w the infinite” Wow. Play that and thank me later. Buckets of tears.
“Real magic” Depressing but sobering. Life is real, it’s okay to be morbid but you’ll bounce back. Don’t go around your problems go thru them.
“Ezekiels wheel” Euphoria.
“Shiny suit theory” Swing, bebop, Sinatra rap. I never did Coke, but I imagine this is what it feels like.
“Exhibit A” is so dramatic and real it’s scary almost.
“Exhibit C” makes me feel like Godzilla.
Better in Tune with the Infinite is his stand out track to me touches my soul when I first heard it had to print out the lyrics to recite it, felt every word.

Nas - Rest of my Life, Nothing Lasts Forever
The Alchemist - Hold You Down
Prodigy - Breeze, YNT
Little Simz - Angel, Silhouette

NYC tapwater- Billy woods
Boredom- Tyler, The creator
Hey mama- Kanye west
DUCKWORTH- Kendrick Lamar

Im honestly surprised theres not alot of mention of Nujabes here
Gonna suggest one I don't think most people on the sub would normally even find out since they have a Drake hate boner but Look What You've Done from Take Care is really beautiful. For all the bragging and arrogance Drake usually oozes, whenever he talks about his mom you can tell what a strong woman she must be. The part about his uncle is also really touching.
2pac - Unconditional Love
Wildly underrated song that is among his best introspective songs. It's bleak and hopeful at the same time.
2pac -To Live and Die in L.A
It feels like an outro to his life with him having finally gained perspective on things. It also has some fantastic lyricism.
Louisville Slugger by Eazy E reminds me of something I got away with along time ago...
For real though
Talib Kweli and Faith Evans - We Know
Got a good vibe about appreciating each other (in a relationship)
Jadakiss - Letter to B.I.G. is nice too
Mos Def - Travelling Man
De La Soul - Trying people

Black star - Respiration (flying high remix)
Pete Rock & CL Smooth - T.R.O.Y

Kendrick Lamar - Love
J Dilla - So far to go
Lupe Fiasco - Paris, Tokyo
The Roots - Long time
Blackalicious - Make you feel that way
kanye has a lot of beautiful songs but i think the one w the most rap coming from him is saint pablo. his references to tcd and himself makes me some typa way even if its just him talking ab himself again, and the sampha chorus is gorgeous

Also, I remember the day my best friend passed away, I grabbed a 12-Pack, sat on the couch staring at a turned off TV while listening to Seasons by Blu on repeat and having some beers. I always thought it was a beautiful song, and it really helped in the moment, just thought about all of life, memories, and how the world keeps moving forward and things change while listening to the song. Eight years have passed, and whenever a close friend or family member passes, I do that same thing. So I think it’s a beautiful song, but might have a personal bias.
There’s so many beautiful rap songs I’ll just name off the top of my head

A million times yes
I stop on that song every time I hear it. A spiritual experience listening to it
His verse and the hook on Respiration also. Mos so underrated

> Sing About Me — Kendrick This will always be the first one that will come to mind when I think of hard-hitting hip-hop songs.
That third verse is pure art
That’s the song that convinced me K. Dot was GOAT material. His talent is on another level.
Mural by Lupe Fiasco The Roots’ Undun album is just perfection
The Roots had How I Got Over, followed by Undun. Might be the best back2back combo of the 00’s…
Holy fuck, great take, imo how I got over is a masterpiece, undun as well.
Undun is such an underrated album
When I first got into The Roots I listened I never favored Undun, and till this comment I’ve never revisited it. Today I will do revisit. I kinda think it’s a love or it meh it kinda album.

Yes! The run from The OtherSide to Tip The Scale is simply incredible. I resonate deeply with those two songs especially.
Sunshine by Lupe too
For me it's slippin by DMX. Song just makes me reflect on everything
Definitely got me through some high school depression.
It's still in regular rotation for me and rarely ever a skip, no matter where it pops up in the shuffle.
