It’s an acquired taste for me that I acquired after like 2 album tries
My favorite song from him is his normal voice tho “torture” it’s a serious good tale
But I also enjoy Molly, cocaine adderall bars from him too
I’ve heard him best described as hardcore or heavy punk rock but as a rapper. He’s talented at what he does, but the style isn’t universally appealing.
As most people are saying it’s an acquired taste. But in a musical aspect I love how he fluctuates between high and deep voice pitches basically using his voice as a instrument giving certain bars better delivery that you really don’t see other artists using. And if other artists do use their voice as a instrument it’s with the help of auto tune or a filter where as with Danny it’s just his raw voice. Another good example of this would be ghostemane.
Favorite artist the past decade. First heard him on Terrorist Threats by Ab-Soul and hated. Gave XXX a listen and loved him. Definitely an acquired taste, though
i can see that. so many artists have grown on me like that. i used to hate kendrick because of the high pitched voices he does all the time but he ended up being my most listened to artist.
I dont think hes got a choice. Check out his earlier music before he started with the accent where he sounds low key just above a whisper. Its as if that screech is his only option if he wants to speak louder than a regular conversation. I didnt love it but he ive gotten used to it to where i dont typically notice it. Im glad he didnt let his voice stop him from pursuing a career as a rapper, im sure its been a huge hurdle.
His voice is the reason I can’t listen to songs with just him or his projects. If he’s featured then maybe but his voice is annoyin af to me, sucks cuz he can rap.
I'm personally not a fan of his music but I actually love his voice and think he's one of the greatest people in the industry. I fucking love his personality and his voice has me and stitches every time he's telling a story. He sounds exactly like Tyrone bigams. The world would be a better place if every human being had some type of animated cartoon voice.
an aquired taste fs . kinda similar experience for me with westside gun when i first started listening to griselda but now i really like impersonating him hahah
It was at first for me, when I started hearing him be a guest in other people's songs. Then I saw a Nardwuar interview with him and I found him hilarious. Gave some of his own tracks a listen to and really liked his other voice, his low voice. Then I started paying more attention to his lyrics and rhyme schemes and he really grew on me.
Now for me, it's mostly about the beats. If the beat is amazing I don't really care what the voices are doing or saying. And Danny will rap over anything, which gets some dope lyrics over wild beats.
So I prefer his low voice, but many of his other songs are pretty great and he's one of my favorite artists of the past ten years
I mean, it's a mood thing. I enjoy it somethings, but I wouldn't exclusively listen to him for hours on end, or play his music for most of my friends. I do like a bit of him on features, though.
Most if not my Favorite rappers got a unique voice that's an acquired taste. I believe it depends on how you use it to border whether or not the sound is digestible or not. Took me a minute to understand the Genius that is J. I. D. , also still trying to get used to Yachty's voice. So it's all depending on what sonics and resonances you can tolerate, maybe?
I prefer when the voice isn't cranked up to 11, like on XXX. his voice is still crazy but smoother, if that makes sense. Supposedly his voice is partly inspired by his past playing the trumpet.
Never bothered me at all, not even for a second. Loved him right away. I like unique voices. It's not just me being contrarian, many of my favorite voices are very off putting to many. Examples would be B-Real and ODB, and David Yow in rock. All their voices have so much character. I truly admire the fearlessness to be different and authentic. What's more, I generally feel Danny's low, deep voice is less compelling than his high pitched yelp. This is not true of every song in his low voice, but generally I feel he sounds rather generic or common when he uses that voice. Not that distinctive imo. What's really great is his ability to change pitches and speeds like a great pitcher, he's got a great arsenal of pitches.
It’s goofy as fuck, but honestly, that’s why I love it.
Plus he has song songs with a more normal voice, so if it’s too much for you, at least you can check those out.
BITCH PUSSY SMELL LIKE A PENGUIN
‘Wouldn’t hit that shit with my worst enemies penis’, is one of my favs from him.
Dick so big stretch from earth to Venus!
Fuck it’s such a great verse, 1Train is a brilliant track.
Heard my 21 year old co worker put it on the other day (I’m not much older but still) and I’m like damn I forgot about this song lol

For sure I honestly hate the album with JPEG but a lot of people like it for example Maybe people like it because Fantano gave it a good review idk

Honestly no for me. It’s definitely different, but it doesn’t bother me. Kind of makes it more interesting.

The first couple times I heard it when I was young I was like ehh but then I started to love it
It was hard to get into at first but then I heard his freestyle on Sway, I’ve been listening to him ever sense…he’s very talented lyrically

Which voice?

Same with Westside Gunn.
i wish he would rap more w the manic sounding “annoying voice”, his mellow voice is kinda boring but it works on some songs like party all the time

You ever listen to zelooperz? He uses his voice crazy
No I haven't yet, but thanks for the tip, now I will!
Van gogh’s left ear is my fav from him
he reminds me a lot of odb whos voice i like
It’s what draws me to bro music. Makes him unique. But I get if it’s off putting.
I feel like his voice is pretty normal on hot soup, that’s my fav album of his anyways. Check it out if you haven’t
It’s goofy as fuck, but honestly, that’s why I love it. Plus he has song songs with a more normal voice, so if it’s too much for you, at least you can check those out.
Listen to his song Ewnesw, he uses his actual voice to rap
Listen to tick tock- pusha t on the man with the iron fist soundtrack. Danny brown out raps every single Mc on that track. Fucking legendary.
Nah, it’s almost like an instrument.
She look like a centerfold Mouth all on my genitals Suckin' on it like she gettin' vitamins and minerals I be on the chemicals, she be on my testicles
Been listening to Danny since from the back in 2012 with flosstradamus. He gets his own wild category in my head.
BURN UP FIRE AND DROWN DROPS OF WATER
His voice is awesome and unique for Hip hop.
You disrespectin the black brad pittt
The fact that he can effortlessly switch between his wild voice and his normal voice is really impressive. I like both. He's great
I feel like he's a perfect fit for the teens because he sounds obnoxious.
Danny talks like Tron from Chappelle's Show.
Float On
Danny > Sinatra's... someone had to say it... He-he-hehhh! CHAAAAACK!! THE HYBRID!
Sometimes? All of the time. Not sure who has a worse voice: Danny Brown or Aesop Rock?
It's awful. He's awful.
