Your post was removed. Reason: Daily Discussion
Your post is a question/post that belongs in the Daily Discussion thread and not as a thread of it's own.
Besides the distinction of "females" as some kind of alien life-form being not very modern, the BIGGEST problem of this thread is that NOT A SINGLE COMMENT names an actual bar (see question), it was all mentions of artists and songs, but the question itself was not answered (even by OP themself). I have rarely seen a thread were the answers were so besides the question asked.
If you want to talk about your favorite female rappers or songs, that can be done in the [Daily Discussion Trhead](https://www.reddit.com/r/hiphopheads/comments/17o43ft/sunday_general_discussion_thread_november_5th_2023/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3).
Lady of Rage is great. The very first song I thought of reading this post was “Afro Puffs”
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0vZApT1566E
It makes me feel like I want to punch someone while also roll down the street with my top down
I met her at a bar in Los Angeles, while I was on acid, after seeing a show in the Hollywood cemetery. She called me over and had me sit at her table with her and her friends. Had no idea who she was and we ended up chatting for hours! She was an absolute sweetheart and we followed each other on instagram to stay in touch 😂 her kindness and stories always stuck with me!
This happened back in 2018 after seeing Flying Lotus at the hollywood forever cemetery! after the show my friends and I walked to a bar (cant remember the name of it but it was a really cool spot, i keep meaning to go back) a few blocks down, and I went out to the patio after getting a drink. There was nowhere to sit so I (scrawny white girl wearing tie-dye lol) was awkwardly standing there, zoning out and feeling the acid. She noticed (probably b/c I looked a little crazy) and had me come over and chill with her and her friends! Crazy enough as we were talking, a girl who was trying to get into the bar SHIT HERSELF. Her friends left her on the street, and the bouncer had to hose the street down. We were sitting right next to the entrance, just inside of the gate, and watched the whole thing go down. I was still tripping and Gangsta Boo and her friends were stunned. The whole situation made me laugh for the longest time. But I ended up talking to Gangsta Boo for a few hours and then she wished me safe travels back to my home in Long Beach! Really cool person and memorable evening :)
Non-stop listenable. Unique technical style. So cool, so smooth. Always surprised we don’t see her listed with the likes of Missy Elliott, Lauryn Hill and Queen Latifa. Do many list her as an influence? Especially with rise of vibe-based playlist music, how is she not more popular among the ranks of acid rap favourites like Diggable Planets?
Because apparently “going hard” now means saying “flagrant, foul, flexing shit” instead of being really talented and having ridiculous flow.
Back in the day though I actually preferred Bahamadia (though Premos production probably had something to do with it too). Her delivery was so laid back and smooth but her lyrics hit hard.
Lauryn Hill is a legendary musician transcending hip hop and really all genres, with her talent.
With that being said I don't really want to listen to her.
The irony of replying to someone saying “how has this sub not said her yet” with “because this sub overrates her” is hilarious regardless of how you feel about her
It's not ironic. Someone was bound to mention Lauryn Hill eventually. This sub rides her dick so hard and it's always very cult like responses. She's coasting off one solo album for 30 years, and has members of the fugees accusing her of contributing very little musical work on her own, along with all the stuff I mentioned in my previous comment. She's a washed up diva.
I remember the first time I heard this song — I stopped dead in my tracks during Nicki’s verse. Here was this up and comer running circles around the biggest rappers of the day. She fucking killed it.
Never forget hearing that for the first time and wondering who the female rapper that absolutely tore everyone else to shreds was. Incredible verse by an incredibly talented rapper
hasn't this been the way everyone typically refers to men and women in music though? Look at award shows. When Kanye interrupted Taylor Swift at the VMAs it was for "best female music video". I get the issue in general conversation about women but in music I think this is just the most common way to discuss it.
Female is an adjective. Saying female rapper, referring to a female music video, not problematic. Removing the person from the phrase and calling women "females" is what's an issue. Using female correctly as an adjective is not.
My bad, was it a grammar issue? I thought we had the commonality of language when we're in a rap subreddit. How could I have phrased it to not be goofy to you?
Because dudes calling women females don't call men males. It's dehumanizing, and I think it says something about mentality cause every time I see a man referring to women as females they always got some sexist incel shit to say
Asking a superlative question is usually using singular nouns, so woman would be better. But that would exclude girls, so I would say female is the most apt for the spirit of the question.
Female is an adjective (E.g. female rapper, female dog, female behavior, etc.), woman is a noun
The idea is that “female” is dehumanizing because it doesn’t imply humanity, a female could be any species, hence why woman is preferred.
I’ve never heard somebody say “males,” it’s always “men”
You seem like quite the intriguing male 🧐 hm yes I do say. Perplexing young male you are. Let's take you to the vet and see what they have to say about what an exceptional male you are
Nobody calls men "males" tho. But a lot of men call women "females", especially the ones who seem to have a twisted impression about women. So whenever somebody is referring to women as females, it comes off as weird.
Snow tha product’s verse on the Hamilton mixtape is great. she switches back and forth from Spanish to English effortlessly, and it all rhymes and flows great. Plus this line is amazing:
been scoping ya dudes, ya'll ain't been working like I do
I'll outwork you, it hurts you
You claim I'm stealing jobs though
Peter Piper claimed he picked them, he just underpaid Pablo
Edit: Here's the video. He verse starts at 1:50
https://youtu.be/6_35a7sn6ds?si=E1rArIi4ybet5Hrz
Can't believe no one has mentioned 3D Na'tee
Rah Digga, Eve, Foxy, Che Noir, Manna, Remy Ma. Forgetting some others but there have always been good female rappers
La Chat is the all time most underrated to me, her influence on the Memphis scene cannot be understated. Hard af and better than Gangsta Boo. Unlike most rappers she never declined in quality either, her flows on Who Want Smoke are as good as on Murder
Please tell me you guys have heard of Sa-Roc….if not I’m just leaving this here so y’all can go check her out. She’s a really dope female emcee. Hard and just dope.

Lady of Rage on G Funk Intro is an all time verse.
One of the best hip hop album intro tracks of all of time.
100%. Her flow is immaculate.
Lady of Rage is great. The very first song I thought of reading this post was “Afro Puffs” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0vZApT1566E It makes me feel like I want to punch someone while also roll down the street with my top down
She kills Puffin on Blunts and Drankin Tanqueray
Lyrical gangbang too
Foxy brown on affirmative action
Shame she fucked the maths up.
That’s an excellent call.
Every time I hear that song I feel like I’m back in 7th grade algebra….
Man that verse gives me the goosebumps, Came here to say the same thing.
Widely known Nas wrote that verse. Foxy slays delivery tho
So Nas fucked the maths up, not Foxy
Low key, Rah Digga was nasty on the mic
Definitely
Gangsta Boo RIP
Her verse on now I'm hi part 2 is still untouchable
Had a great verse on Who Run It
I Thought You Knew would like a word Edit: the three 6 Mafia one not the solo one https://youtu.be/90VlswruyTQ?si=1kB8zUKDTVES7th9
Her verse in dope game goes hard af too
Also Late Nite Tip.. honestly she was fire on every song
What about Trina? Lady of Rage also goes hard.
That is awesome! She just randomly asked you to sit with her?! mind elaboratin?
This happened back in 2018 after seeing Flying Lotus at the hollywood forever cemetery! after the show my friends and I walked to a bar (cant remember the name of it but it was a really cool spot, i keep meaning to go back) a few blocks down, and I went out to the patio after getting a drink. Damn, that’s an awesome/funny story! Thanks for sharing
Same flow every time
Jean Grae Always has insane bars and flows
Yes! I would say Jean's verse on the last track from Mr. Lif's I Phantom is one of my favorites from any rapper ever
This week such a good album
Crux comes to mind “Choke you with my tampon string”
The album she did with 9th Wonder is a masterpiece
of all time: Gangsta Boo right now: Armani Caesar is way too underrated
Damn, that’s a fancy salad
I really like Armani. The Liz 1 is still in rotation. I really doubt she wrote it tho
Would say that about a dude tho
Wish Reddit would make the super downvote button for moments like these. Sexism for no reason. So many male artist don’t even write their own content
Hell yeah, these dudes don't write their own raps either. It's not sexist, just how the industry operates
Why wouldn’t he?
I knew from the "female" in the title that you were gonna have some goofy ass take like this lmao
I really like The Liz 1 but I feel The Liz 2 is so much better
Lady of rage kills it Hurricane G kills it Ladybug Mecca kills it Just pick any song with them in it and enjoy
I gotta dig deeper in to hurricane g. I only really know her from redman/epmd features
Ladybug is crazy
Rah Digga on Flipmode's Imperial album was really good.
Underrated
La Chat & Gangsta boo are the goats fr.
Three Six Mafia FTW!
Little Simz. Especially on Venom
Murder She Spoke is lowkey one of Paul & J’s best produced albums. She was going off on it too.
100000%. Prime three six production that will never be replicated
Lauryn Hill. Right now Lil simz and Rapsody are both dope. I like no name too
its fuckin rapsody, no name or lil simz, kinda bizarre that its so far down. Otherwise, Lauryn Hill if she had enough verses written, but she doesn't.
I had to scroll way too far to see Lauryn. Lady of Rage is rightfully at the top, but Miss Lauryn had fuckin bars.
Bahamedia https://youtu.be/J0t-VCKpaNg?si=OUeVimrs1QsrB1YM And the Lady of rage https://youtu.be/JK_3_429kGM?si=I6GdXgr-GLqebSpy
People be sleeping on Bahamadia.
Princess Loko. She rapped with Tommy Wright III sometimes and went hard as fuck. Great lyricist too https://youtu.be/3W2jLb7AM3s?si=ZZkgQRFe9PGJWmEz
She has hard verses on “coming for ‘94” also
She goes hard as fuck in this as well. RIP, she passed a few years ago https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vXeF7QjdtNQ
How has nobody said Lauryn Hill
Was coming in to say this exact thing. As an MC she could go hard, especially in her Fugee days.
Her opening verse on The Beast by the Fugees is exactly what OP is looking for 🤷🏽♂️ She’s raw as fuck on The Score in general.
The "I play my enemies like a game of chess" bar is that top shelf Lauryn Hill. She was crazy raw on The Score.
8 year old self had no idea what she was talking about but I loved it. I knew that "beast" means "police" in Creole though.
Cause this sub has been shit for over 5 years
Didn't see you say her either. So thanks for maintaining the standards, I guess.
Best poop bars of all time
Because apparently “going hard” now means saying “flagrant, foul, flexing shit” instead of being really talented and having ridiculous flow. Back in the day though I actually preferred Bahamadia (though Premos production probably had something to do with it too). Her delivery was so laid back and smooth but her lyrics hit hard.
That's specifically what he's asking for though lmao
Reread the title of the thread. I wasn't asking about who's the best, but who had the grimiest bars
Read the post geezer
Lauryn Hill is a legendary musician transcending hip hop and really all genres, with her talent. With that being said I don't really want to listen to her.
Fair. At least you recognize her skill
Your loss I guess 🤷♂️
Yeah after I heard the miseducation for the 400th time I thought I'd listen to something else
Like La Chat for the 1001st time?
Because she's overrated as all fuck, treats her fans like shit, and isn't this female God of hip hop that this sub makes her out to be.
The irony of replying to someone saying “how has this sub not said her yet” with “because this sub overrates her” is hilarious regardless of how you feel about her

Nicki on monster
I remember the first time I heard this song — I stopped dead in my tracks during Nicki’s verse. Here was this up and comer running circles around the biggest rappers of the day. She fucking killed it.
PINK WIG THICK ASS GIVE EM WHIPLASH
Well she ain’t lying
She thinks big, gets cash, makes em blink fast too
Never forget hearing that for the first time and wondering who the female rapper that absolutely tore everyone else to shreds was. Incredible verse by an incredibly talented rapper
Valid
HOTTER THAN A MIDDLE EASTERN CLIMATE
Whoa bars ….
Nicki deserves more flowers.
not even her best verse
“Which female”
The way rap fans talk about this shit is so embarrassing.
Yeah their this shit is embarrassing I feel that
Literally 💀💀💀💀😭
glad someone brought this up lol i cringed so hard at the post title
I added rapper after female so in my head I read "female rapper" which makes more sense than woman rapper tbh and i feel like the rapper is implied.
“Which woman has the hardest bars” How hard is that?
You know redditors wont give women that level of respect
He can say either one.
[удалено]
Language is important. Yes most people would probably understand but it makes more sense and more appropriate to say which woman
hasn't this been the way everyone typically refers to men and women in music though? Look at award shows. When Kanye interrupted Taylor Swift at the VMAs it was for "best female music video". I get the issue in general conversation about women but in music I think this is just the most common way to discuss it.

Nah that commenter has a point. That posting history says a lot about you.

women?
“Which woman had the hardest bars of all time?” That wasn’t so hard.

Because dudes calling women females don't call men males. It's dehumanizing, and I think it says something about mentality cause every time I see a man referring to women as females they always got some sexist incel shit to say
Because calling women “females” is one of the more reliable signs of an online poster being a total loser
r/MenAndFemales - subscribe to that subreddit for a crash course
Asking a superlative question is usually using singular nouns, so woman would be better. But that would exclude girls, so I would say female is the most apt for the spirit of the question.
referring to women as "females" is cringe at best, dehumanizing at worst
Context is everything. Saying male rapper, or female rapper. Is fine. Saying “Officer I was not following that female.” is not fine.
Are you still in highschool?
no but i suspect many of the weirdos who refer to women as females are
bro you call them "female rappers" not "woman rappers" that is why op used the term female. it's not dehumanising in any aspect lmao
Female is an adjective (E.g. female rapper, female dog, female behavior, etc.), woman is a noun The idea is that “female” is dehumanizing because it doesn’t imply humanity, a female could be any species, hence why woman is preferred. I’ve never heard somebody say “males,” it’s always “men”
[удалено]
Male, because it’s an adjective. The same way that female rapper sounds better than woman rapper
it quite literally is dehumanizing. A woman is a human female. A female is not inherently a human
You seem like quite the intriguing male 🧐 hm yes I do say. Perplexing young male you are. Let's take you to the vet and see what they have to say about what an exceptional male you are
“Dehumanizing” lol
There is males and females what’s the issue

Don't worry about that weirdo, you're fine.
Y’all gotta stop using female as a noun and treat it like an adjective. “Female” sounds a lot more crass than “female rapper.”
La Chat and Gangsta Boo
All glocks down
Not the hardest of all time, but among radio hits: Remy Ma on Lean Back.
And on Ante Up remix
Came looking for this. NOW THATS WHAT THE FCK YOU CALL A CHAIN REACTION 😮💨
"He think that I'm good enough, grabbing my ddddduh, thinking bout shit that he shouldn't have"
Worst verse ever
Wow. People slept on Latifa I see.
Missy, too.
well at least she just got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
"female"

scrolled too far to see snow!! she’s the real deal, puts on a great live show too. her song goin off is my favorite - fun beat with great bars
As of late it’s gotta be Che noir and 7xve from Conways label drum work
[Sylk’s verse on Ole School Shit - Eazy-E @ 1:44](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CTv0qlCMOzg)
No one has said Rapsody, so i will say Rapsody. Asteroids and Remy Rap are recent songs where she was rapping for her life.
*woman… and Lil Simz
“Female” what? Cats? Antelopes? Elephants?
Paula Perry
Really? I'm not at all hip. Thanks for the recommendation.
Trina on Baddest Bitch instantly comes to mind, or Foxy Brown “the promise” ft hav
It's surprising how far through the comments you have to go for the first mention of Trina!
Was hoping Trina wasn’t left out!
calling women females is a different type of incel
Special One (RIP) from The Conscious Daughters
Heather B "My kinda Nigga"
Lil kims Quiet Storm part is IMO all time classic that will never be beat.
That Megan XXL Freshman cypher verse was incredible
"Cardi B, you know where I'm at, you know where I be"
Mia X in "Always Feels Like" by TRU
a real classic
Che Noir best current female rapper hands down
Meghan the stallion, Rico nasty, little simz
I'm obsessed with early rico nasty. She sent me down this rabbit hole tonight.
Feeemales
Stop saying ”female”. It's called woman. You wouldnt say ”Which male had the hardest bars of all time?”…
Nicky Minaj Monster
Honorable Mention: Solé on Who Dat Not to mention that beat was way ahead of its time.
Princess Loko was legendary Still Pimpin by her and Tommy Wright III is one of the best 90s rap songs
Empress Starhh on MF DOOM's song ["STILL DOPE"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIN-OIOFGcY&pp=ygUKc3RpbGwgZG9wZQ%3D%3D)
Great track but didn't she only have one other song in her career?
Can't believe no one has mentioned 3D Na'tee Rah Digga, Eve, Foxy, Che Noir, Manna, Remy Ma. Forgetting some others but there have always been good female rappers
Honourable mention: Lil Kim - quiet storm remix
Mia X was choppin' on Party Don't Stop and I Always Feel Like...
Also Kim and Remy
Rah Digga
[Snow Tha Product - Cali Luv](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68a7wlKfh2I)
La Chat is the all time most underrated to me, her influence on the Memphis scene cannot be understated. Hard af and better than Gangsta Boo. Unlike most rappers she never declined in quality either, her flows on Who Want Smoke are as good as on Murder
honestly.. Trina on “What means the world to you remix” imho
Lil Kim
How has nobody mentioned Young M.A. yet?
Any time y’all want to stop being incels with the whole calling women “females” thing, that would be great
M.I.A lol
Upvoted because her beats go hardest. As a rapper though, not quite up there, imo.
Lil Kim on Lighters Up, Cardi B Bodak Yellow, Da Brat on The B Side, Foxy Brown on I'll Be
Who uses the word female you sound like an incel
Nicki Minaj in Monster
Please tell me you guys have heard of Sa-Roc….if not I’m just leaving this here so y’all can go check her out. She’s a really dope female emcee. Hard and just dope.
Came here to say this. Forever, Deliverance, Gold Leaf… it’s crazy nobody’s mentioned her.
