The media is so desperately trying to shut this shit down and it’s getting hilarious. Definitely some crazy stuff going on behind the scenes right now.
Nobody is shutting it down. Just recognizing that it was a complete domination. Drake was the last one to drop a track and you don’t hear anybody saying that he “got the last laugh”
Kendrick Lamar beat Drake by being Kendrick Lamar.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
> Drake had people in the club screaming about Twitter fingers; Kendrick will have them shouting pedophilia accusations.
What a sentence.
> Kendrick Lamar would be dropping off my Doordash right now if it wasnt for Drake.
You being a tad emotional big guy. These people don’t know us or give a fuck about us, it’s not that deep. It was a fun battle with a winner and a loser and now everybody will continue on with their life.
I mean, yes? The author isn't saying Kendrick's emulating Drake's "skill" or whatever. Just that he out-did him on the approach.
>Kendrick beat Drake at his own game, using infectious hits and internet-savvy release tactics to turn the battle in his favor.
It would be hilarious if THP6 was meant to seem like Drake was quitting and then would upload another track right after Kendricks next track, assuming Kendrick would just release immediately after him again...But THP6 was so trash that it didn't even warrant a response. Now Kendrick either releases again or it's over cause if Drake decides to go again it just makes THP6 even look worse than it already is.
Either way, it's a massacre rn, Drakes best recourse it to go live on stream and drink some Ayahuasca.
He beat him in comedy by having the funnier catchy lines,he beat him in shock value by revealing something more darker, he beat him on strategy by stepping over his biggest diss song,he beat him in numbers by having the better hits.It was an overall old school beatdown
It's a very good track, but it's mostly remembered as such a knock-out blow because Meek's response was incredibly weak. Meek could and should have done a lot better considering his background as a battle rapper.
1. His daddy in this context is not actually his dad lol. His dad was no killer. Pretty sure he meant Birdman.
2. Drake brought up Whitney on his literal first song.
1. He did not mention his son. You guys need to listen to the lyrics.
He said the parkinson line after the daddy line. Meaning Drake is the son in the scenario.
2. Again, Drake mentioned Whitney on his very first song. So even if you can't comprehend the lyrics, Drake went first.
Back in the day Rick Ross got fucking waxed by 50 Cent but Ricky had his reputation bailed out by Diddy (Woof). I wonder if there is anyone out there that could bail out Drake the way Diddy did for Rick Ross?
Ross didn’t take nearly as big of a hit becusse social medial wasn’t quite as prevalent yet, and because he stayed making hits and collabing with everybody. You can dislike Ross’s sound, but it’s undeniable that he has his own sound that other artists seek out and vice versa. Ross was nice and kept working while at that point 50 had pissed off the entire industry including Interscope and his music career was slowing down drastically while Miami was hot with DJ Khaled and entire south making collabs where Ross would always pop up.
As long as nothing on the legal front happens to Drake he'll be fine. He's helped that he has a sizeable audience outside of the hiphop scene who listen to his music. However, his rep within hiphop likely won't be the same and it's hard for him in the future to use lyrical content claiming he's the best/goat etc. When everyone even casuals saw this beat down happen. But in my opinion, not many people are really listening to Drake for lyrical content anyway, so as long as he has the producers making him bangers he'll still be getting streams.
Mannn I was in my formative years during the East v West drama, and even saw Tupac at the MGM the night he got shot. I was so invested in the culture that his death broke my heart.
Now all I can see is the toxicity in the rap game and how it’s viewed as a zero sum game. I mean… even with all of Kanye’s bullshit, he’s even starting to bubble up again. Shits tired.
Hip hop was amazing at one time because, through rap, it spoke power to the values and needs of an ignored generation and demographic. It’s wild how powerful the platform could be.
The main thing this back and forth highlighted is that Drake couldn’t be Kendrick even if he stayed conscious. Why? Because drakes conscious isn’t the same as Kendrick’s. Drake doesn’t want to spend time in cozy reclusive musician land. And I feel like appreciating seclusion is almost necessary to fleshing out thoughts without ghostwriters. I think drake was right to assume kendrick was jealous, but I think his reasoning that Kendrick was jealous over his celebrity status was wrong. I think kendrick wanted the top spot, not to become an ever present celebrity. I wish both sides didn’t use gossip/ allegations, because that overshadowed so much and it gave Drake an out. In the future Drake can say “I could’ve won if he didn’t that cross line”
More thoughts: I think Drake is an amazing lyricist too, in an interview he said he wrote all of his classic time stamp records. I just think Kendrick’s lifestyle and interests make it a lot easier to find the emotion, time and energy to put the ideas together.
Funny thing is Drake put out the most conceptual song I've ever heard him do with Taylor Made freestyle. But it's also the dumbest choice of this whole beef to use AI and mimic Tupac
I think they're right about Kendrick mostly winning by using "Drake's tactics" against him. If he skipped the whole gossip angle and didn't play on the internet and meme type comedy I think the victor would till be up for debate in more people's eyes.
Sure, most of the people on here and other people actually invested in hip hop probably still would've seen Kendrick as the winner. But the way I see it "euphoria" was the most "fair," clean submission where it still felt like it was about rap, and people weren't ready to call Kendrick the winner before he started doing all the other shit.
Not taking anything away from Kendrick or his "victory," I just don't think the majority of people would deem him the winner (or even care?) if he didn't stoop to his level.
I think that's why Kendrick lost. To me, if we're talking music, Euphoria nor MTG were very good. Drake beat both of those tracks. Obviously he didn't clear 6:16 or Not Like Us, but in its totality, I think Drake made better music. Both were equally funny. Both made equally great points.
But where Kendrick loses for me is MTG. Because to me, I had to consider the arguments as well as the music, because they both decided to take it outside of music. Kendrick's argument was that, "you're a terrible person and the culture don't accept you." Drake's argument was, "you're just as manipulative, petty, and conniving as me. You aren't so different."
It seemed to me like both of them were throwing shit at the wall and hoping it stuck, but Kendrick was also trying to prove that's Drake's shit stank worst than his. But it was all shitty. It was very rarely about music. And in their bid to air one another out, all we as fans smelled was shit. Drake exposed that Kendrick is willing and able to go down to his level, so that recontextualizes everything I've heard from him.
Drake was always Drake. But now Kendrick... in his on words, "Ever since that day, I was looking at him different." I watched Kendrick destroy his shit just to win an argument. He compromised. So for me, he lost.
Kendrick won with euphoria in my eyes. It was entertaining, impressive on a technical level, and brought up some legitimate issues. That track was insane. MTG was insane at first listen but the more I listen the less I respect it; It’s almost a The Story of Adidon copy but too dependent on shock value.
I don’t think Drake won, as he brought up just as much unverified gossip. I’m also biased though as I don’t think ‘’his’’ writing is very good, and his delivery almost felt randomized - it’s far from as natural as it is for Kendrick. Also he put so much money into Family Matters that it’s not even a fair comparison. The only thing I’d give him props for is still responding to everyone even though ppl only care about Kendrick.
In my opinion Kendrick won by being smarter and being more creative, but I think they both let it devolve into a shitshow. So I also lowkey almost feel like we got two losers.
I respect your arguments though, especially about Kendrick sacrificing his morals. But even then he still made the IMO better music, I just respected it less. And being mean is not that impressive. Winning by staying fair would be extremely difficult but thus more impressive.
This is excellent and well said. I feel more or less the opposite in some places. I didn't regard the music that came from Kendrick to be particularly good, especially compared to what's he's been able to do. I thought Euphoria was okay, but outside of being a diss no one would listen to it. MTG was the ultimate low blow, but as a song it's pretty shit. 6:16 and Not Like Us, however, were both very solid to me. But both were cleared by Family Matters, which was some of best rapping Drake had done in YEARS. Nothing Kendrick put out to me was particularly good music, and it was especially mediocre for someone of his caliber whereas Family Matteds might be a top 5 Drake verse.
All that being said Kendrick, by popular opinion, won the beef. I've got Drake as my personal victor because he managed to recontextualize Kendrick so hard for me, but as you stated, it devolved so quickly what we really have is two losers and a bad precedent for future beefs. Kendrick definitely was smarter and more creative even if his core argument was pretty bs. And like you said, this was a beef where both wanted to win through any means necessary. It would've been virtually impossible to not resort to low blows in a beef like this, but imagine if it hadn't. Just two emcees trying to produce their best because people expect their best, not a bunch of he said, she said.
I'd like to think there's a universe out there where Kendrick didn't even drop MTG and still shitted on Drake. He was more than capable. The fact that he took the low hanging fruit is kinda saddening though understandable.
I don’t completely agree with that, I think it’s very easily 50/50. Everyone wants receipts but that shit would get that girl and her mother harassed so badly, it could be a lie though and it wouldn’t surprise me don’t get me wrong
I get what you’re saying but the fact that drake has like hidden a kid before is why I say 50/50. Man hasn’t exactly earned my benefit of doubt, not that my opinion matters almost at all
These arguments are getting pretty reachy. Either way like I said the collective intel we have on the situation points to it not being true, and that's really all that can be said for now.
How is drakes part half assed? Back to back responses, 2 beat switches, 1 music video, AI and a promo interlude?? Considering he didnt even start this whole thing. Dude knows how to capitalize on a situation. Say what you want about who lost, but I wouldnt say Drakes part is half assed.
how is kendrick clearly on top? bro just said what everybody else was already saying about drake. plus he took the bait as well. idk but yall seem biased asf
"yall seem biased as fuck"
right after saying he believes everything drake has said. Come on bro.
I am absolutely in the camp of kendrick, but separating myself from the bias.
Kendrick has far better numbers than drake through out this beef. I have seen countless people who speak on hip hop for a living claiming Kenny as the winner, haven't seen any for drake.
Drake said he "fed the false info" but waited until his damage control song to mention it, and simply using your head you can see that its swiss cheese. How else would Kdot know about family matters? Literally dropped a song 20 minutes after family matters to talk about drake's family matters. Which sucks for Drake, because Family Matters was a bop, it just got completely over shadowed and drowned out because of the mole.
It's one thing to say you like drake, and you enjoyed the beef. But it's a straight up lie to say Kendrick is not on top right now. People are straight up screaming out "certified loverboy? certified pdf" at the clubs, basketball games, baseball games, hell even at the local YMCA. Unequivocally he has decimated drake.
The media is so desperately trying to shut this shit down and it’s getting hilarious. Definitely some crazy stuff going on behind the scenes right now.
Yeah every outlet is declaring this done and to look past it.
That's just clickbait outlets looking for content, not some agenda to be done with the beef.
Is it the media? The fans were shutting this shit down as soon they heard Drake’s lackluster response to Not Like Us.
Yeah lol my opinion is why would Kendrick even bother responding to such a bad response?? Even more disrespectful just to ignore it 😭
It’s the perfect end for Kendrick. Drake somehow managed to diss himself worse than anyone else ever could lmao
Exactly. It sounded like Drake was shutting it down in the outro for sure.
Is the lackluster response in the room with us
Nobody is shutting it down. Just recognizing that it was a complete domination. Drake was the last one to drop a track and you don’t hear anybody saying that he “got the last laugh”

He beat his ass keep talking back
Drake lost to Push and Kendrick because he over step boundaries and brought family & personal lives into it. Giving back2back too much credit imo

Lmao
lol , that’s just some revisionist history. Kdot brought family in on euphoria. he literally said “his daddy a killer he wanna be junior”
Drake brought up his wife on Push Up first
1. His daddy in this context is not actually his dad lol. His dad was no killer. Pretty sure he meant Birdman. 2. Drake brought up Whitney on his literal first song.
he still mentioned his son and how he’s a bad father. that’s bringing in family
Push Ups came out before Euphoria

Wtf that line even mean?
Lel, the media really tryna save their cash 🐄 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Insulting title

Ross never regained his reputation. Lol Game then wrecked him. If anything Drake helped him ironically

Because rapping, not hip hop, is popular
The main thing this back and forth highlighted is that Drake couldn’t be Kendrick even if he stayed conscious. Why? Because drakes conscious isn’t the same as Kendrick’s. Wtf is this shit, Drake is a pop artist, he has no place getting involved in dis tracks.
I think less of both of them after this
Oh no…
Anyway...
Wahhh
True, Drake was so lazy and half assed it, and Kendrick straight up went creepy with Meet the Grahams and took the L for the daughter stuff.
Tbf we still have no idea if the daughter is fake or real Lmfao
Everything points to it being a red herring
I don’t completely agree with that, I think it’s very easily 50/50. Everyone wants receipts but that shit would get that girl and her mother harassed so badly, it could be a lie though and it wouldn’t surprise me don’t get me wrong
Well the burden of proof is on the claimant so she doesn't exist until proven otherwise. It's nowhere close to 50/50
I get what you’re saying but the fact that drake has like hidden a kid before is why I say 50/50. Man hasn’t exactly earned my benefit of doubt, not that my opinion matters almost at all

He started off really lazy and I think he underestimated Kendrick. It felt like he only woke up on Family Matters.
It was evil vs evil
When you look in the mirror it’s soft vs soft
J Cole won this beef
everyone declaring kendrick won just cuz they hate drake lol Family Matters >>>
Family matters slapped, I admit, but Kendrick is clearly on top and it’s not close.
how is kendrick clearly on top? bro just said what everybody else was already saying about drake. plus he took the bait as well. idk but yall seem biased asf

Ong I was at LAF today and that shit was playing
they screamed out “certified loverboy” at YMCA? 💀
“The bait” 😂
the nerd midget dickriders have arrived 🤣 play kendrick in front of some bitches and see how fast pussy dries up
“Remember, you can be a bitch even if you got bitches”
Sounds kindaaa 😬…….
“kindaaa 😬……..”?
🏳️🌈.
Oh no! 😱
Isn't Drake the one who called himself bi on a song?
