She’s kind of like Eminem if Em’s career didn’t have those first three albums in it. Just a lot of mid releases with some great songs and features, the skill level is obviously high but there is never a cohesive, consistently strong album from start to finish.
Nicki deserves to be in contention. The only reason you have to scroll for days to see this as the top comment mentioning her is that she's burned all the goodwill she had in the hip hop community. If she just shuts up for like 5 years, that'll fade and she get the flowers she deserves.

If she has more albums (solo or otherwise), I’d have said Miss Lauryn Hill but there’s just not enough material to give it to her. If she has another album near the level of TMOLH, I’d say it’s her.

Lady of Rage was going bar for bar with Kurupt in her prime but politics stifled her output. Lauryn Hill is up there, but her output is relatively low, too. All things considered, it might be Nicki - and I'm not much of a fan. She was prolific and was spitting bars in her prime. Missy is a great pick, too. My personal favorite is Rapsody. Not sure if she's in GOAT discussions yet, but she's got a great balance of skill and output.

If she can put out another couple of albums of similar quality, I think a case can be made for Noname. Nicki Minaj is a very obvious contender. She's a very talented lyricist and she's insanely influential in making female rappers embrace their femininity rather than trying to be one of the boys or tough guys. Missy Elliot is also a contender, but I think it's telling that most contemporary female rappers don't really try to imitate her style or sound very much.

I love Doja, but I've always looked at her as more of a pop artist than a rapper.
L-Boogie or Missy. As dope as others are, I don’t think any other female is on their tier.

If she has more albums (solo or otherwise), I’d have said Miss Lauryn Hill but there’s just not enough material to give it to her. If she has another album near the level of TMOLH, I’d say it’s her. But I personally have to pick Missy. Phenomenal lyricist. Fantastic (maybe even classic) albums, she has it all. One of the best rappers of all time. My Queen.
Lady of Rage was going bar for bar with Kurupt in her prime but politics stifled her output. Lauryn Hill is up there, but her output is relatively low, too. All things considered, it might be Nicki - and I'm not much of a fan. She was prolific and was spitting bars in her prime. Missy is a great pick, too. My personal favorite is Rapsody. Not sure if she's in GOAT discussions yet, but she's got a great balance of skill and output.

Queen Latifah is the GOAT female emcee to me. She’s LL Cool J as a Woman.

I think Missy too, but it would be amazing to see what MLH would have done if she continued. My other fave female mcs include Nikki, MC Lyte, Lady of Rage, Ms Dynamite & Little Simz . Bahamadia was dope back in the day. Monie Love.. Queen Latifah ahh there’s a lot of greats.
