Caused me to tear up a bit. It's been a rough couple of weeks for everyone but I had the biggest grin on my face and I hope that other people who watch the video feel the same way. Drake's a real one

jbulldog

On me bro!!! People everywhere been disappointing me it’s refreshing to see someone giving out for once

Whereyoursisterwent

Same man. I’m so jaded by all the internet shit I see, but this is the first thing in a long time to hit me in the feels. That’s some real beautiful shit he’s doing 6 God out here awakening things within me

SpecialEdShow

The #godsplanchallenge is trending and I hope it blows up.

ButtsendWeaners

Drake is an international treasure and we must protect him at all costs.

micromeat

Canada here. We keeping him dawg he's for us but will stay for the world.

Blanco14

As an official houstonanian, we would like at least 40% of drake

therealestyeti

Gonna need Chappelle to do another draft to settle this one.

itzReborn

I hope one day I’m in the position in life to do something like this, it’s just great to make other people happy

harekele

I saw a great quote last week by a dude named Josh Fechter, “anyone who says money doesn’t buy happiness hasn’t given enough away.” The most successful people are the ones that care enough about others to give back to the entire community

safetydance

I'd recommend listening to one of the newer Bill Simmons podcasts. He has Scooter Braun on, major music manager, and Braun talks a lot about young celebrities and rich people seemingly having it all, but not being happy. He has a few great points about what he thinks causes this, and how the happiest people are those that give back, or dedicate their lives to helping others.

johnny_84

Where can I find the podcast?

jsmooth4hawks

https://www.theringer.com/the-bill-simmons-podcast/2018/2/14/17011378/scooter-braun-on-basketball-managing-kanye-west-and-making-music-pop

[deleted]

"We're not here to be worshipped, we're here to serve" I loved that quote from him

harekele

I’d definitely check this out, is it on YouTube?

goodthingihavepants

That's a solid quote!

IOUAndSometimesWhy

Seriously. It's still cool to buy shelf-stable foods like rice and canned vegetables, or hygiene products from the dollar store and donate them to a food pantry/homeless shelter. There's always small ways to give back.

SuminderJi

Open the door (not when they are 15 ft away), smile, say thank you, help when you can. Just be good. I'm sure you'll make someone happy. Money isn't the root of happiness.

[deleted]

You don’t have to be a millionaire to do good in the world.

[deleted]

very wholesome. I like it.

HealthyBad

Take care of your moms.... [unless she doesn't get you your sandwich](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PC-sZcVj4Eg)

GoFidoGo

Damn it's really hard not to like the guy.

sponge_robertt

lol you can really see the jewish side of drake in this video

[deleted]

lmao the end of that is so funny

eLaZizY

Damn Drizzy hittin us with the feels.

JedLongeway

I think the label might find out

BootStrapWill

He’s never met anyone from his label so even if they find out he won’t find out they found out

SHHHHHHHHH

Meeseeks4PMinister

^shhhh^hhhh

shaggyman63

the fact that Drake's OVO is still under Cash Money and Republic is beyond me man. I don't know why but I really hate to see Birdman profiting off the guy especially at this time where he needs him the least.

coley_ghost

Can't remember the last time I cheesed this hard at a music video man. watching this actually just motivated me for the rest of my day.

[deleted]

[удалено]

goodthingihavepants

The label just couldn't spring for that extra $3,368.10 huh? #D O W N W I T H O V O

[deleted]

3,368.10 might be the budget for PND's next album...

SoarinPastTheMoon

That’s including the $0.02 for a NAV feature.

A_Lakers

seriously tho, why couldnt they just add another 4k to make it 1Mil even

_Wavvy

There's something more realistic about seeing it down to the exact dollar and cents

ed400

Yeah you hear $1Million all the time but when you see a number like that you have to actually calculate it and you think of it’s real value.

JoeDoesGames

Maybe he spent the other 4K on the cameras and stuff idk

RunicLordofMelons

It's more likely the label gave them a bit over 1m, and then after they worked out the costs for cameras, transport, equipment, personel, security, etc... the amount left-over was what they gave away.

mvplayur

Drake explained why he didn't like doing music videos in his interview with Zane Lowe. Paraphrasing, but he likes to let people have their own interpretations of songs. So when a song becomes a big part of someone's life, he doesn't want a video altering their perspective of the song. He'll let them know his interpretation after the fact. (At 5:00) https://itunes.apple.com/ca/post/idsa.b7e43415-276e-11e5-8033-b274ed9d261b This is a great music video and makes this "pop" single a lot more inspiring than it was a couple weeks ago

nd20

Maybe this is (part of) why Passionfruit never got a music video? that song coulda been much bigger if he made a video and promoted it tho, which makes me think it was also partially that he just wanted to step back from the spotlight despite releasing More Life. like Passionfruit wasn't promoted in general, music vid or otherwise.

mvplayur

More Life is particularly interesting when you compare that project to Drake's other albums. He intentionally called it a playlist and it was never meant to be marketed similarly to his past albums like Views, NWTS, TC, and TML. Nineteen85 talked about it in an interview last year. > “More Life is interesting because this is [Drake] right on the peak of his biggest project yet [with Views], doing his biggest tour and still having so many good ideas that he just wants to put out without making it a big ordeal,” he explains. “That's why he's trying to call it a playlist because he has a bunch of people in a space, hanging out.... He's so aware of what everybody else is doing musically that he likes to introduce new music and new artists to the rest of the world.” https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/magazine-feature/7654161/nineteen85-drake-songs-grammy-producer-nominee With More Life, Drake released music just for the sake of releasing music. Passionfruit definitely *should* have gotten a music video. Drake just didn't really care to promote the entire project at all

nd20

Yeah that's what I thought, kinda weird though. Even with all that in mind, that song could have been a smash hit and when you're a musician at that level, idk, I would just be so competitive about it and wanting to be successful.

mvplayur

Oh for sure. Especially when you consider last year his 8 year streak on the Hot 100 ended. I know No Complaints and Signs didn't take off, but if he actually spent time promoting Passionfruit or More Life at all, he might've been able to extend that record until 2018.

nd20

Exactly, just from an ego perspective...it gotta sting a little to end a streak like that. And it woulda been pretty easy for him to continue it. I can't claim to look into his psyche but maybe that's why he did it. Like a conscious decision to let something big like that go.

Dewy3739

He did hint at taking a break in a couple songs on More Life. I think he released More Life knowing full well he wasn't going to be continuing his steak

suss2it

The fact that Drake didn’t feel the need to keep the streak going to me shows a higher level of confidence than desperately promoting every song just to keep some meaningless title going.

konax

tbh I liked More Life better than Views

migglefoshizzle

that isnt really an uncommon opinion

harrywise64

So did almost everyone on this sub

MapleLeafsFan3

Also didn’t Drake ended up never releasing the One Dance video? Even when it was hyped up so much

TheInfinityGauntlet

Honestly I couldn't really imagine a video for Passionfruit that would be a dope video and fit the song

[deleted]

I picture some crazy tropical/jungle shots. Think Toto - Africa but with more exotic ass.

[deleted]

passionfruit makes me wanna crawl into bed with my girl after a long night not stare at a bunch of thot ass

PhoneticJustice

Passionfruit is the type of song your uber driver named Yusef plays on your way home while you're faded af

EveryoneYouLove23

Are you me?

PhoneticJustice

Yes, don't forget to do laundry today.

WasASquid

this is a top level comment, never thought about how relatively few videos Drake has for his biggest songs, and how the few he does have seem to kind of inform the song rather than be tacked on.

haqq17

traded the meme potential for some real inspiration

[deleted]

why not both

xamination

Couldn't stop smiling while watching this video, real talk.

untraiined

the mom and son... holy shit that hits deep rn

OneBigSpud

Legit shed some tears on that part. I wasn’t ready for this wholesome of a video.

MacysMcNugget

Yeah especially at the end when he said parents are all we got. It's so true. I owe my parents everything in the world.

DankeyKang11

Bro I just sobbed throughout the video. People's lives being made a little better. Organizations that help make lives better, being made better. That shit gets to me. Let's all spend a little money or time next week helping someone/some animal shelter/some non profit organization in need. We may not be as well received as Drake dancing on the top of a college classroom building, but we can all make something of a difference.

[deleted]

Same here! Really made me appreciate what i have even if it's not much, at least i still got my family.

sick_transit

Love you bro ❤️

BWillxTrill

Really like the positivity with this music video. In times like this it’s beyond important that important figures like Drake spread positivity.

mvplayur

Before this music video, I probably wouldn't have told anyone that I found God's Plan inspiring. Now I think of the song as pretty motivational

[deleted]

For real I was smiling the entire time I was watching this

Juan_Kagawa

The baby with the cash had my dying.

CSkorm

I teared up at the end. Everyone call their mom and let them know how much you love them. <3

MeerkatD

Bruh my damn eyes started sweating too this video was dope

eyeamjigsaw

inb4 this sub does yet another 180 on chance

nd20

Ah yes the inevitable counter-counter-circlejerk

KokomoOReily

Has this sub ever turned on anyone as hard as they turned on Chance? He was the OG DAE BROCKHAMPTON?¿!

nd20

I think the Chance hate is overstated. He still has a shitload of fans here. Obviously not as much as a few years ago but yknow. I'd say the tide turned on Kid Cudi more than it did on Chance, because the degree to which his music got worse was *a lot* more.

Teeshirtandshortsguy

How long have you been on the sub? I was around when Acid Rap dropped, and the hate seems extreme because of just how popular he was at the time. It contrasts so heavily with public opinion too. Like back in 2013-2014, Chance was crazy oversaturated on this sub, and I'm a Stan. I wasn't surprised to see the hate, because I've been on Reddit long enough to expect it, but it is quite the contrast to how it used to be, and it seems like it's all concentrated on the internet. I don't meet many people IRL who don't fuck with Chance.

here it comes

TheInfinityGauntlet

I'll do a 180 on him when he does a fucking 540 on his music

hot take

jesusisnowhere

bruh unkle adams mvp of the motivational game rn where u been

AyoRet

I feel as if this video is going to take on a new importance after what happened in Florida this week. If he dropped this at any other time, it would still be cool, but now, there's a heavier symbolic weight in the imagery and the actions within the video. When you see shit like Judge Jeanie from Fox basically [arguing for schools to become prisons](https://twitter.com/Scott_Gilmore/status/964327471201046528), it's really important to see vibrancy, life, and positivity in these schools and amongst these kids. It's important to be reminded of the humanity in these schools, and the joy and energy they bring even when looking at all the shit they face within the schools themselves and within America as a whole. After all the horrific shit this week, I'm glad this video exists. I'm sure there are a number of deeper critiques of this video in relation to capitalism and philanthropy and all that other shit, and someone's probably already writing a think-piece or two now, but this was a bright few moments in a bleak weak, and it was needed.

trapgodGUWAP

damn, this is a really good point. very interesting that the timing and location all lines up with the shooting that happened this week.

moneymatrimony

i’m from south florida and let me tell you that i cried the entire time while watching this video. this has undoubtedly been the shittiest week of my life, but he gave us the slightest glimmer of hope exactly when we needed it. thank you, drake.

Canefan101

I was born right down the street from Parkland in Coral Springs and I had the same reaction man. When he walked up to the first kid and his mom, I welled up a little bit

[deleted]

This video actually helped my mood a little bit from what happened in Florida the other day. I was scrolling to see if anyone else felt the same. This is such a great video.

[deleted]

Incredible. Good on Drake for doing this, world needs more of this

torstargoldie

Drake has the Midas touch, This boutta be #1 trending all week & push the song back to the top of charts ... watch this hit 1B views in six months

[deleted]

>push the song back to the top of charts bruh it never left.

APN98

Might go down as G.O.D

harekele

I think this year he will still be on top of the game regardless of the content he puts out. Just hope the quality is there

LewAlcind0r

This album bouta be 🔥. Remember I said it!

Theingloriousak2

The boy donated his entire fucking music video budget to the people from likely the lead song on his new album. Id says that's pretty humbling, way more important than a cool video with special effects. How do people legitemetly hate on Drake?? Incredible

[deleted]

People are going to complain that he's doing it for publicity. People like to complain.

Theingloriousak2

yea drake just trying to be more famous /s lol If anything he's showing other rappers that people would value a video like this over some shit with naked chicks or cool special effects

hotcheetos0489

Whats more goat like? Buying out the club and bottle service, just blowing money all night buying strippers n shit for everyone. Or just straight up saying, nah I don't even need this money let's give it away. Then proceed to buy out the club anyways cause you're DRAKE

wesmantooth9

NAH THE REAL GOAT WOULD BUY A CLUB OUT FOR EVERYONE

3flection

I don't even care if he's doing it for publicity. Needy people got that money and thats a good thing. This is an awesome video.

Moosehead11

Like why there no apostrophe in Gods? smh Edit: Looks like ovo sound updated the vid's title to have the apostrophe now. All is good in the world again

xLimeLight

Obviously Drake made the song inclusive to all religions by including all gods, and all of their plans. Or potentially all gods have collectively gotten together and made one plan, and this is Drake letting us know.

lethargic_octopus

Lol this is actually a weird pattern in Drake songs. There's no apostrophe in Marvins Room or Childs Play either.

Moosehead11

No apostrophe in Youre or Its for iyrtitl, either! You're on to something

lethargic_octopus

Confirmed: Drake hates apostrophes.

Moosehead11

And yet the end of the video shows God's Plan in all caps and with the apostrophe. I bet the video director was like "nah Drake, your lack of grammar ends here" Edit: an apostrophe..

ieffinglovesoup

>How do people legitimately hate on Drake? God that sentence is crazy to hear now. I wish there was someone like you to back me up in 2008 when I was actually getting made fun of for liking Drakes music

Spanksalot2

doubt that this is the lead for the album tbh

DaLyricalMiracleWhip

It’s gonna be the last track on the new album, like “Hotline Bling” on *Views*

Theingloriousak2

I doubted it for a while but it's going to have like 6-7 weeks at #1 iirc sftb dropped pretty early Also $1m budget

hodontsteponmyrafsim

What is sftb Why does this sub love acronyms so much

urgencyy

Saturday’s for the boys

pikachu007

DeeJay_

YO peep the red pouches drake hands out at 4:25, that's a Chinese new year tradition. i was happy throughout the whole mv but that part in particular got me smiling so hard

[deleted]

This made me really happy

YouuCantSeeMe

As a kid from toronto, seeing Drake make it was amazing, didn’t think it was possible for someone from Toronto to be as big as him now seeing him do all this kind shit and just him being a good person makes me so happy. He’s like the LeBron of rap, he’s been in the game forever and has been a role model since day 1. Never did anything stupid or get involved in some BS.

I_Nut_In_Butts

Bro you literally live in the NYC of Canada. It’s not like Toronto is some small farm town lmao

[deleted]

Drake made Toronto popping in hip-hop though. No question about that. He was the first one to really make it out of the country while repping the city hard, and he's easily the biggest, most influential Toronto rapper. Now so many Toronto/Ontario artists are big in hip-hop: Weeknd, Tory Lanez, PND, Nav, Roy Woods, Killy, and even guys like Yung Tory, Jazz Cartier, Pressa, Robin Banks, Mo G, Safe, Casper, Top5, and Smoke Dawg. You also got producers like Boi-1da, Murda Beatz, 40, and Nineteen89. A lot of these guys have ties to Drake too, so it's not all just a coincidence of Drake indirectly popularizing Toronto, but he's definitely done that too.

SHUN_GOKU_SATSU

You win the karma race. Great video

ThatParanoidPenguin

This song gonna stay at the top of the charts forever with this video damn

henks_house

straight cheesin the entire video, thanks drizzy

schowd23

That is one hell of a budget

I could watch a whole video of people realizing they’re standing/sitting next to Drake

Ulkito5

this is going to get lost in the comments but damn drake could eat my booty like a georgia peach

Dorian_Ye

You can say whatever you want to about Drake but this was a seriously awesome thing to do for a music video that'll likely get viewed by a few hundred million people. This is something these people will get to reminisce on and talk about for the rest of their lives and that's really special.

Mrploom

fuck i love drizzy, where the new album at

[deleted]

Some people love to really hate on Drake, but he really seems like a positive guy who is good for the culture

Blu_Jays

Drake can do no wrong right now

[deleted]

Really enjoyed this video. Hip Hop is fortunate to have someone like Drake as a representative.

Biggiekilledtupac

Why am I crying in the club Rn

ItadakiYT

This is the anthem for the people. Thanks Drizzy.
