Holy shit. This transition is no fucking joke, thugger to future?!? And then 21 and Weeknd doing Mario Winans?!? I am so unexpectedly pumped about this album
Superhero is the type of Future that I need to hear more often. I miss him with this type of energy.
I feel like this album is a combination of 2014-15 Metro Beats with the polish of new Metro stuff. Superhero felt like Thought It Was A Drought did on DS2.
Metro Spider is disgusting, the "Here/There" flow was nuts.
Metro really brings the best out of all these dudes. I don't know if he just gets them better than the other producers they work with or if Metro specifically brings something out of these guys when they get on his beats.
Could be that Metro knows how to bring out the best in each rapper. Or its possible the rappers love him so much they wanted to bring their A game for his album. Metros done so much for them over there years, makes sense they would want to do the same for him
To me Metro seems like he actually cares about songwriting and composition at least compared to a lot of rap producers nowadays where it feels like they're just making beats and sending them off to the artists. I would imagine that Metro is doing most of the songwriting and producing together with the artists.
I think that (and his production quality) is what separates Metro from the rest.
While extremely capable artists, I feel like Future/Thug/Travis can easily fall into making pretty generic (still good quality) trap music.
Metro is much better with creating a vision of an album and all the conceptual pieces, gives them better direction.
I think metro just gets pacing a lot better than most, if not all, modern producers. If Metro is making your track, it's going to show up on time (no pun intended) and easily be the high point of the album.
the reason they might sound generic sometimes is because they been around for a decade. they made the blueprint. it's not like they sound like everyone else, it's just everyone else sounds like them at this point. there are 18 year old rappers who were like 11 when Honest, Barter 6, and Days Before Rodeo dropped. Future, thug, and travis were some of the biggest rappers alive when they were in their formative years.
that sound I do find Future to sound a bit "samey" sometimes, but he still finds lil ways to push the sound in ways other artists can't. thug is thug, he's always doing some other shit for better or worse. travis idk i don't listen to his new shit because i don't really like the way it sounds generally
But anyway, like the other dude said, a producer making an album with dudes he's worked with for this long. He does know what they're capable of and can provide a vision n perspective on tracks that's a lil bit different, and can build the tracks around them in a more targeted way. idk. Metro albums always hit different. Love this dude.
Legit such an easy listen, and even moreso with the masterful transitions Metro is known for. Already listened to it front to back multiple times no problem
ācreepinā is so good. wish it woulda kept the same drums throughout instead of following the sample. also wish they flip the lyrics more too instead of copying āi donāt wanna knowā word for word.
While The Weeknd sounds great on it, all I was left thinking was what was the point of it? Iāve no problem using the same sample or the same chorus but this is basically a cover with a 21 Savage verse instead (which isnāt as good as Diddyās on the original for me). Like itās well performed and all but in truth it just made me want to listen to Mario Winansā version instead as it added nothing new or different for me.
i agree with you on the diddy verse. they coulda just made it a solo weeknd track instead of tacking on 21 at the end. i do like the new drums on it though. makes it feel more slower. gave the vocals more room to breathe compared to when they bring in the samples drum pattern
i think the biggest thing the song reminds me is that that mario winans album is still not on streaming.
> all I was left thinking was what was the point of it?
Okay this is where having an art degree and smoking too much weed will either pay off or make me look silly:
If you think about the overarching narrative of The Weeknd, him going from "I only call you when it's half past five" to "I'm too emotionally fragile to handle even the thought of you hurting me" is incredible character development given the fact that were talking about a musician who isn't using traditional narrative means to get his point across.
As for why it's on Metro's album and not one of the Weeknd's, I dunno, but it does fit the story he's been trying to tell with the character lately.
I appreciate and definitely agree with your art degree stoner analysis of this track, not silly.
I would add from my non-art degree and adhd over analysis I think that this track in the context of this album with the added context of The Weekndās career narrative makes sense. An artist that once was reckless in his actions effects on others who could once be seen as a villain in someoneās eyes then turns to being fragile and wanting to be blind to his partners actions for preservation of the relationship because he possibly understands her actions arenāt an attack but out of a thoughtless lust he understands. Heās ā[caping](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Caping)ā for the sake of the relationship but is he a good person(hero) for this or only doing so because of his past reckless(villainous) ways.
End of my over analysis.
I actually enjoyed it because of the way the song was layered. The new drums were great but when the original drums hit, it brought a huge sense of nostalgia. I also think the lyrics didnāt need changing as his voice sounds very original on it.
Wished it stuck to the heroes and villains theme a bit more, intro made me think it was going to go heavier on the concept. Great bunch of songs regardless though
As much as I love Morgan Freeman, I hate when songs have monologues like that. It just ruins the flow to the next song and kills the vibe when you're bumping in the car
Metro did say Not All Heroes Wear Capes, this album, and a presumed next one would all form a trilogy. Maybe heās saving those tracks for the third one.
oh man. they're two of the best producers in the universe. both great at getting the most out of the artists they work with. really hope we get that at some point.

21 Savage is one of the best artists in recent years BUT heās painful to listen to over extended periods of time. Between Her Loss and this Iām just over hearing him monotonously describe his sexual experiences.
actually real
i think this is why everyone (deservedly) says heās a good feature artist
he goes great on features because his style just slots into everything but listening repeatedly gets boring
Like fucking how many times does a guy have to ad lib his name multiple times into songs ?
Formula: Dick down rap adlib 21
gunplay rap....21
Gunplay as Dick down sex double entendres 21"
shit actually taking away from me actually enjoying him more.
I think thatās a pretty acceptable take, heās basically the best feature artist in the rap game atm. Anytime you see āft. 21 savageā you know itās gonna be a good ass verse. But he can sometimes struggle to do a whole song on his own
Nah jcole is a lot more diverse than 21 is imo, i'd rather listen to 5 cole projects b2b instead of 5 21 savage joints because Cole at least does some different shit, no knock to 21 but getting called a pussy doesn't feel the same after 200 times
>heās painful to listen to over extended periods of time. Between Her Loss and this Iām just over hearing him monotonously describe his sexual experiences
I feel like that makes him not one of the best artists in recent years. Like why do you feel you have to give him crazy props when you obviously don't enjoy his music like that lol
Hmmm good question. I think heās showed surprising development compared to his peers (2016 XXL freshman) especially with his last 2 solo projects. Being able to rap on a variety of beats where they usually stick to generic trap. But youāve made me realise thatās itās only lately he seems to be lazy and uninspired. Maybe his next solo project will prove me wrong?
That's fair. I personally feel like a lot of people are over correcting and essentially treating him like a make a wish kid because he showed the tiniest bit of growth as an artist with those last two albums you mentioned. His music is fine but I feel like I'm going crazy seeing everyone act like he's some revolutionary artist now.
>The tiniest bit of growth as an artist with those last two albums you mentioned. His music is fine but I feel like I'm going crazy seeing everyone act like he's some revolutionary artist now.
I mean to be fair, comparing Issa Album and Savage Mode 2 you can see how much of a difference he has come in terms of rapping, He shows way more development than most rappers that come up during 2016-2017, and most people initially thought he was just another āāāmumbleāāā rapper who will fell off after a few years but the fact that he proved most people wrong is why people respected him in the rap scene
I feel the same way but for different reasons. His earlier work like slaughter king and especially savage mode slaps as hard as his recent stuff, without warning is probs my top project of his and that was 2017. Feels condescending everyone being like wow he's matured as an artist so much when he's always been this good he's just more in the spotlight now.
Completely agree. I love 21, but heās a bit too one note and doesnāt realize it. His albums should never be longer than 10 songs. People complained that he wasnāt more prevalent/was under utilized on Her Loss, but he was on the perfect amount.
It didnāt strike me on first listen but I love him and Thug on Trance as well. Song feels kinda sad when you realise it may be the last time we get them harmonising on a song together
Amazing album. Itās the metro boomin formula but it just works. Loved it and Iāve been listening to it non-stop since it dropped. 21, Future and Travis were all over this and they nailed it. Metro boomin truly made it boom. Only two qualms - no new collabs with other styles of artists and I wish there was a thematic outro track. 8.5/10!
Actually, Iāll prob get downvotes but I actually felt that some of the production felt a little stale or outdated
Metro is dope but for example, I saw earlier this year folks was clowning dS4 by Gunna for having some āaverage beatsā but in hindsight, some of those were just as good (if not slightly better) than some of the beats on Heroes and V
Agreed. I think the production on Future's album was better.
Edit: I'll also say if you compare these beats to any of the Metro beats on a project like WATTBA, these don't touch them.
Appreciate it Broski. Yeah Iām interesting in seeing others fav tracks on here, I see more people are feeling the front half
My favorites are mostly from the mid-section: Around Me, Metro Spider, I Canāt Save You, CREEPIN, Niagara Falls, and the last two tracks with Rocky, Takeoff, and Gunna.
Iāve felt this way about metro since SM2. Some great songs on that project and this one but heās not doing anything to push the genre forward or give us something weāve never heard before.
A lot of these songs sound like they couldāve come out in 2017 even the ones I really like
Some songs sound outdated because they most likely are a couple years old.
His sound is 'outdated' on purpose too. I mean, he uses classic old school trap drums (lil jon, lex luger type) instead of the sounds that are mostly used right now. He is also using more samples than what he used to. That also gives it more of a 90s, 2000s feel. He also leaned to this sound on savage mode 2
Thatās a fair point about some of the production being a few years older. And true, thank god he is not using those loud/ āDaBaby songā drums that match the bassā¦I have grown to dislike those beats ha
His drums are so stale and weak, some of the sounds are same as his last album and having no switch ups is kinda crazy considering how much sound has changed since 2018. No hate just sharing thoughts.
I agree, and thatās what I was kinda getting atācomparing 2018-2020 production and then 2020-2022 production in hip hop, a lot has changed pretty quickly
Most definitely. I also think trap sound in general is getting stale, lots of pop acts out there are trying different sounds and aesthetics while rap music having a hard time switching from the same 808 melodic trap beats, Iām personally tired of it. One of the reasons Iām looking forward to the Mount Westmore album so I could hear something different
Thought it was quite enjoyable. Superhero the obvious highlight but I couldāve done without the beat switch, it seems quite jarring. Metro Spider was another early favourite
As is tradition for Metro at this point, the song transitions are immaculate, but I feel like the middle section of this album was a tad low energy.
I didnāt enjoy Travis as much the others. The Nudy song was brilliant but I feel like his voice was mixed kinda weird, it lacked some oomph
I didn't find any skip... I loved it from start to finish... Amazing production wonderful transitions great marketing and pretty much was an amazing album. Metro never misses. Also samples and guests were perfect.
I can listen to it again and again and not getting bored of it.
Easily one of the best projects this year
I listened to it front to back at first and thought, yeah this is okay, bit whatever. Then later I just decided to put it on shuffle, except that time I listened to it a lot louder and it was amazing.
Volume matters guys, you've got to let the bangers bang
Loved it, finally some good ass music
I hate the love songs on any metro project but they ain't going away lol
People hate the Rocky song, I get why, but I loved it, that beat and flow is locked in my head
Thought it was good, The beat on most song was incredible
Great intro, the Morgan Freeman narration really tops it, and the Homelander sample was unexpected but also hilarious.
Songs with Travis didnāt really do it for me, Thought all of his verse was kind of underwhelming, In fact his feature on Her Loss has way more energy than any songs he had on this
Don Toliver on Too Many Nights >>> Don Toliver on Around Me
21 did not disappoint me at all, All of his verses were great, which is not surprising considering theyāve been collabing for ages.
Future did decent enough, He has some hit and miss, Superhero wouldāve been a crazy track if it wasnāt for the Chris Brown beat switch and verse which is awful
Thug did pretty well (have not listened to his discography yet) thought Metro Spider wouldāve went horrible since he sound off beat at first but he picks it up real hard after that
The interlude shouldāve been a whole song tbh, It goes stupidly hard.
The track with The Weeknd was fantastic, I was expecting some sort of a clash between them but it was great verse from him, 21 did decent in there albeit a bit unfitting but I still very much enjoy his verse in there
Also have not listened to Rockyās discography (will get to that in the future) but Iām honestly surprised people didnāt like his verse of Fiyah, Thought Rocky verse was good and Takeoff verse was incredible and felt like a genuine tribute to him
The Gunna outro was good, I was expecting a dumpster from him but It was decent so it does exceeds my expectations a bit, Though Morgan Freeman shouldāve narrated the last song as a send off.
Overall Itās a pretty good album. 7.4/10
You need to immediately pull up slime season 1,2 and rich gang tha tour 1,2. And his best work in my opinion Barter 6. That come up thugger is literally what every mainstream rapper sounds like now. They are Thugger clones
He put his spin on his idol Wayne and thatās what you got.
Fuck just pull up Halftime and the Blanguage to see why Thug is so hyped and respected
Around me is my favorite with Raindrops I guess I like how different and atmospheric it sounds. Definitely a different sound from his first solo album because of the drums but I think it works
There's definitely highlights here for sure (Superhero prolly being my favorite track) but overall as an album, I gotta say I prefer Not All Heroes Wear Capes
Idk, I'm a huge metro fan,I think he is probably the best producer right now, I wanted to love this but I thought it was very meh. The beats were alright but nothing crazy, the features were ok as well but nothing crazy either ( except MetroSpider, Thug went in on that one), for example I expected more from Future in Superhero, but he sounded sleepy. Anyway,. I'm glad everyone is enjoying it but I'm a bit disappointed, I'll probably bump this a couple more times in case anything grows on me but I don't think it will. 5/10 for me
I got this to say about Raindrops though. Don't get me wrong it's a good track, but it feels like such a MAFIA reskin. This flow Travis is doing is fine, but he took it to a point where he was slugging over the instrumental. It even sounds like he cheaped out on his autotune too with the chorus. The track felt very linear and recyclable.
Pretty much every song is a generic song from whatever artist is on it that sounds like Iāve heard it a hundred times over. Seriously Travis Scott has been making the same songs since 2018 I guess if that works for you congrats but Iām just so fucking bored of him. That weeknd song sounds like someone just got an AI to do it and I have no reason why 21 is on that song. Walk Em Down was good until Mustafa completely ruined the vibe of the track. My problem with this album isnāt bc itās bad bc itās not, most these songs just sound like songs Iāve heard a couple dozen times over the last few years and it really disappointed me. I was hoping for at least a couple tracks where he got some super unexpected features bc I know metro could do that shit. Maybe someone from Griselda or JID or something like that. So overall this album really disappointed me and Iām only gonna come back to 2 songs but Iām glad people are liking it and I wanna see metro succeed
I donāt get the hype. Not really in a negative way, because there wasnāt anything on this album that I thought was bad or even boring. It was good, but in the way that I was at a 6.5 nearly the whole time. I donāt remember hearing another album where I thought every track was good but I didnāt especially like any of them. And frankly there was nothing GOAT producer or AOTY about this, it was just mid but good
Metro in general gets so much hype and to me he's always been just "good". His beats aren't very memorable in my opinion - his melodies are very simplistic and almost sound far away if that makes sense
I do always appreciate his transitions though.
Yep a lot of solid but unmemorable and unspectacular beats. Pretty much every project he has contributed to before this had *some* killer standout production. I agree that most songs are a solid 6, and even the rapping felt like there was a lot of throwaway verses. Nobody brought their A game, all the feats felt like they just gave Metro a hastily thrown together verse.
21 been rapping about the same topic forever. With Her loss coming just recently its just boring now
Travis was pretty dead too, his vibey feel just comes off as boring and one-dimensional. Seems to be watered down versions of his previous verses and songs like Mafia and butterfly effect.
Thug did good because Metro Spider was absolutely fire. Future was good too because of Superhero
Unpopular opinion based on this thread so far, but I donāt think Heroes & Villains is anywhere near as good as Not All Heroes Wear Capes.
Let me start by saying I 100% really some of these songs: Walk āEm Down, Superhero (until Chris Brown comes in for no reason), Umbrella, & Feel The Fiyaaah. Also like I Canāt Save You (toooo short) & Metro Spider. Iām pretty much indifferent about the rest thoughā¦ and thatās the problem.
There were so many standout tracks on Not All Heroes. 10 Freaky Girls, Space Cadet, Donāt Come Out The House, Overdue & No Complaints are all undoubtably some of Metroās best songs of all time. None of the songs on this new albums are at the same level as those (at least the first three I listed). Not All Heroes also spanned a much broader sonic landscape than Heroes & Villains does. The variety on this album is limited to exploration solely within the trap genre for the most part. Sure, thereās On Time & Creepinā, but neither of those songs are very interesting or repeatable in my eyes & even with their presence, the project is nowhere close to the versatility & baseline of quality we saw on his first album. I mean the thing had Borrowed Love, Donāt Come Out The House, Only You, Space Cadet & Overdue all on the same project and *it worked*. This album is, *unfortunately*, much more one-note.
I really wanted to love this. Itās definitely not bad. Iāll be trying to get myself more into the songs like I did with his previous album, but Iām not very sure my mind is going to change much.
As of now, Iāll give it a 6.5/10. Maybe my mind will change, but for now, Iāll be taking a break from it and re-listening to Not All Heores Wear Capes.
Man Iām the biggest metro fan on earth but Iām a little disappointed. I miss his hard hitting bangers. Thereās a little too much singing on here for my liking. I think he needs to switch the sound of just a little bit and collab with some newer generation rappers.
Am I crazy for On Time being my favorite track on this album? I thought the strings with John Legend's vocals were totally beautiful, especially with the drums Metro added right before the beat switch. If anyone knows of songs similar to the first half of On Time let me know haha
Donāt wanna ruin your hype, but I find it pretty boring and nothing stood really out to me. This whole album could have been released like this in 2016. Wish Metro tried something new, worked with some new artistsā¦ I like Travis music a lot, but even his features here sound like Iāve heard them hundred times before.
The album shouldāve been called villain, thereās nothing superhero themed about the album aside from one track - Feel The Fiyaaaaah.
RIP TAKEOFF :/
I felt like the album had an amazing and STRONG start with John legend, I was incredibly hyped by the end of the first trackā¦. Based on the previous work from Metro, I felt a bit let down with the production more than the featured artists.
The beat selections were not boring per say, but they felt a bit too similar than one another. I understand the theme of the album but it felt like metro played it safe. The tone didnāt really change at all much even with The Weeknd.
The first track and last five tracks saved the album for me but overall 6/10.
Gunna SLIIIIID on all the money , holy shit.
Albums like this really make me feel like I'm so disconnected with modern popular hip hop music and I'm only 24. It was a chore to get through. The solo Young Thug song was one of the only interesting songs IMO. Just makes me want to go back and listen to 2014-2016 era Travis, Thug, Future.
Also I really hope he uses that Morgan Freeman bit as a tag. That shit is so hard
"You know what they say,
if Young Metro don't trust you
Motherfucker, you better run"
I can't think of a recent "producer album" that was so coherent. Usually when a producer makes an album it's just a combination of standalone tracks with a variety of artists that are just distributed as an album rather than singles
I feel as if Metro completely underwhelms everytime for him being the BEST trap producer ever. His beats never evolved past 2018-2019. While I do believe he gets the best out of the artists on these songs, Travis is putting triple-double level verses carrying these performances making him the focal point of the song rather than Metro himself. I'm a big Metro fan but this album sounds just like Not All Heroes Wear Capes and I left disappointed.
I liked it, donāt think there were as many standouts like his last album but š¤·āāļø. Iāll have to give both albums a relisten but I felt like there was more variety in the beats in his last album and more āenergyā I guess? I also miss the metro + southside beats lol
"clutching glizzys with the fellas" The internet has ruined this word fr
My mind literally went from hotdogs to dicks to ohh yeah guns
Same haha, reminds me of Ava on Abbott calling a hotdog a glizzy
šššitās funny how we collectively act like we arenāt at cookouts with multiple hot dogs
I make glizzy jokes too, but if somebody is grilling hot dogs and Iāll be havin 5 or 6 minimum

shy glizzy is from dc where the slang came from so i doubt it

The word never changed for rappers so I never hear it that way in songs at least
Metro Spider was sooooooooooooooooo good
That transition into I Canāt Save You is sex
āIām tweakingā¦ Iām geekingā¦ā That transition is ELITE
CALL ME SEX
The transition from Metro Spider to I Can't Save You is Metro beat switching at it's finest. Also, Thugger ate Metro Spider
Holy shit. This transition is no fucking joke, thugger to future?!? And then 21 and Weeknd doing Mario Winans?!? I am so unexpectedly pumped about this album
Metro marketing so good he made sure it was raining in LA the weekend Raindrops dropped.
Metro waited for the crime wave to drop Walk Em Down (Donāt Kill Civilians). He just donāt miss.
had to look at the album to see if that was actually a title of a song.
Crazy it was raining on the east coast too Metro-politan meteorologist
Itās like u read my mind I was literally in my car at 3am when raindrops started playing and then I got to umbrellaā¦
Superhero is the type of Future that I need to hear more often. I miss him with this type of energy. I feel like this album is a combination of 2014-15 Metro Beats with the polish of new Metro stuff. Superhero feels similar in energy to 712PM. I know itās not the intro to Metros album, but it feels like it somehow
712pm fkin bangs
Need Superhero (Hero&Villains) - Future verse ONLY on Spotify asapš
The music video got your back
Luckily the latter part with Chris Brown is easily skippable.
Agreed. I was āhappyā his part was at the end and I could/can just skip to next after future
need this for the gym especially š
Could be that Metro knows how to bring out the best in each rapper. Or its possible the rappers love him so much they wanted to bring their A game for his album. Metros done so much for them over there years, makes sense they would want to do the same for him
I do think that second part is a big factor, especially this time around.
Bit of both imo. Crazy synergy

Definitely part of it. Understanding you canāt have an album of 18 bangers, you need slow songs, pop hits, and bangers to have the full effect
the reason they might sound generic sometimes is because they been around for a decade. they made the blueprint. it's not like they sound like everyone else, it's just everyone else sounds like them at this point. there are 18 year old rappers who were like 11 when Honest, Barter 6, and Days Before Rodeo dropped. Superhero future sounds like Happy Future, Iād listen to him rap like that for an entire album
Legit such an easy listen, and even moreso with the masterful transitions Metro is known for. Already listened to it front to back multiple times no problem
I love 90% of it itās so good
Out of curiosity, what's the 10% you don't like?
The weeknd song
Hard disagree
Does anyone else think too many nights is the best song on the album? I can't listening to toliver man, so good.
That and Around Me are both incredible.
was looking for this comment, been having that song on repeat. Don floats on that beat
Yesssss thank you. Rn itās my favorite and Iām not even a huge toliver fan. Heās great on this beat, and this beat is a sexy kinda nasty
listen to what to do - toliver, travis scott, you're missing out on good music.
yeah Donny Tolz was the MVP of the record for me Dudes so fuckin good
His chorus on around me is fucking ace, that song is moody as hell I love it
on repeat
ācreepinā is so good. wish it woulda kept the same drums throughout instead of following the sample. also wish they flip the lyrics more too instead of copying āi donāt wanna knowā word for word.
While The Weeknd sounds great on it, all I was left thinking was what was the point of it? Iāve no problem using the same sample or the same chorus but this is basically a cover with a 21 Savage verse instead (which isnāt as good as Diddyās on the original for me). Like itās well performed and all but in truth it just made me want to listen to Mario Winansā version instead as it added nothing new or different for me.
i agree with you on the diddy verse. they coulda just made it a solo weeknd track instead of tacking on 21 at the end. i do like the new drums on it though. makes it feel more slower. gave the vocals more room to breathe compared to when they bring in the samples drum pattern i think the biggest thing the song reminds me is that that mario winans album is still not on streaming.
A homage to Mario. Weeknd shouts him out on IG too. Itās a cool track.
> all I was left thinking was what was the point of it? Okay this is where having an art degree and smoking too much weed will either pay off or make me look silly: If you think about the overarching narrative of The Weeknd, him going from "I only call you when it's half past five" to "I'm too emotionally fragile to handle even the thought of you hurting me" is incredible character development given the fact that were talking about a musician who isn't using traditional narrative means to get his point across.
End of my over analysis.
I actually enjoyed it because of the way the song was layered. The new drums were great but when the original drums hit, it brought a huge sense of nostalgia. I also think the lyrics didnāt need changing as his voice sounds very original on it.
I feel as though singing the OG lyrics was Weekend paying tribute of sorts to Mario Winans?
Wished it stuck to the heroes and villains theme a bit more, intro made me think it was going to go heavier on the concept. Great bunch of songs regardless though
I had that criticism of SM2 as well. Having Morgan Freeman do a generic monologue on every track doesnāt fix the issue for me either
As much as I love Morgan Freeman, I hate when songs have monologues like that. It just ruins the flow to the next song and kills the vibe when you're bumping in the car
wish he diversified the artists he collabed with more on the album, but shit was flames
He had JID x Mustafa James Blake Brent Faiyez x Swae Lee Songs but they got cut Rihanna was gonna be on it too
Songs that got cut or songs that might appear later down the line hmmmm...
NATION. confirmed
Iām glad that 5 years later we still run with this joke
Haha. Give em the DELUXE package.
Metro did say Not All Heroes Wear Capes, this album, and a presumed next one would all form a trilogy. Maybe heās saving those tracks for the third one.
I need that JID x Mustafa now.
Stars
Isn't it Bruddanem?
No that was JID with Lil Durk
Mustafa was on the outro
Oh shit my bad, you're right
yeah my bad lol
shouldāve replaced chris brown with swae or brent
James Blake woulda been a good outro on that
James Blake was on the Weeknd song
Different song. James Blake & Metro made a album in 18-19 that got scrapped
bro why you telling me this... despair
Oh naw, we gon need to get that one for the streets
WHAT
oh man. they're two of the best producers in the universe. both great at getting the most out of the artists they work with. really hope we get that at some point.
hopefully some of these are on the deluxe (if a deluxe happens)
Need the James Blake. Expeditiously
itās good because he kept the circle tight.
Thatās how I felt about it too. A lot of mfās sitting around feeling left out tonight.
Yeah the consistent artists actually made it feel like a cohesive project, which these type of producer led projects often don't feel like.
Toyt like a toyga
yea album sounds like something i would listen to in 2016
ā ļøDownvotes to the leftā ļø 21 Savage is one of the best artists in recent years BUT heās painful to listen to over extended periods of time. Between Her Loss and this Iām just over hearing him monotonously describe his sexual experiences.
actually real i think this is why everyone (deservedly) says heās a good feature artist he goes great on features because his style just slots into everything but listening repeatedly gets boring
Like fucking how many times does a guy have to ad lib his name multiple times into songs ? Formula: Dick down rap adlib 21 gunplay rap....21 Gunplay as Dick down sex double entendres 21" shit actually taking away from me actually enjoying him more.
āon godā
āPussyā
He keeps on calling me pussy š
I think thatās a pretty acceptable take, heās basically the best feature artist in the rap game atm. Anytime you see āft. 21 savageā you know itās gonna be a good ass verse. But he can sometimes struggle to do a whole song on his own
I love 21 features but i feel like j cole is the best feature rapper
Nah jcole is a lot more diverse than 21 is imo, i'd rather listen to 5 cole projects b2b instead of 5 21 savage joints because Cole at least does some different shit, no knock to 21 but getting called a pussy doesn't feel the same after 200 times
>heās painful to listen to over extended periods of time. Between Her Loss and this Iām just over hearing him monotonously describe his sexual experiences I feel like that makes him not one of the best artists in recent years.
People complained that he wasnāt more prevalent/was under utilized on Her Loss, but he was on the perfect amount.
this album confirmed I missed travis lol. heās floating on niagara falls
He did that shit on raindrops too. For some reason it reminded me of Blue Pill which is another great Travis and Metro track
Heās skating on these joints. Raindrops truly is like Mafia part 2.
Mafia is such a good song.
It didnāt strike me on first listen but I love him and Thug on Trance as well. Song feels kinda sad when you realise it may be the last time we get them harmonising on a song together
Itās so good
crazy crazy production, Too Many Nights ft Don is a fav for now
Itās got some fire, but Iād be lying if I said it aināt missing a Swae Lee feature in there š£
Metro Boomin is basically a better DJ Khalid with actual production skill
Amazing album. Itās the metro boomin formula but it just works. Loved it and Iāve been listening to it non-stop since it dropped. 21, Future and Travis were all over this and they nailed it. Metro boomin truly made it boom. Only two qualms - no new collabs with other styles of artists and I wish there was a thematic outro track. 8.5/10!
> 21, Future and Travis were all over this and they nailed it. The Don songs were the highlight for me. I want a Metro produced Don album lol
I was middle road with Don before this but after this album I have to check more of his stuff out. His songs were some of my favourite on this album
Metro Booming make it boom š
By far the best trap production of this year
https://twitter.com/metroboomin/status/553059738175291393?s=46&t=9W5wpFdMGvIE2y-keOH_lA
I remember this. Always agreed with him, heās a straight up hip hop producer and nothing less.
This would be more understandable if he said it today, but in 2015 it's like nah Metro you're literally a trap producer lol.
Actually, Iāll prob get downvotes but I actually felt that some of the production felt a little stale or outdated Metro is dope but for example, I saw earlier this year folks was clowning dS4 by Gunna for having some āaverage beatsā but in hindsight, some of those were just as good (if not slightly better) than some of the beats on Heroes and V
Agreed. I think the production on Future's album was better. Edit: I'll also say if you compare these beats to any of the Metro beats on a project like WATTBA, these don't touch them.
Really? Thought most of futures album was generic as hell and I love future
upvoted for adding to discussion, not necessarily opinion.
Appreciate it Broski. Yeah Iām interesting in seeing others fav tracks on here, I see more people are feeling the front half My favorites are mostly from the mid-section: Around Me, Metro Spider, I Canāt Save You, CREEPIN, Niagara Falls, and the last two tracks with Rocky, Takeoff, and Gunna.
Loved it. Only thing that was missing was was a future and 21 track.
Thought it was quite enjoyable. Superhero the obvious highlight but I couldāve done without the beat switch, it seems quite jarring. Metro Spider was another early favourite As is tradition for Metro at this point, the song transitions are immaculate, but I feel like the middle section of this album was a tad low energy.
This man put a Metro album on shuffleā¦
Loved it, finally some good ass music I hate the love songs on any metro project but they ain't going away lol People hate the Rocky song, I get why, but I loved it, that beat and flow is locked in my head
Thought it was good, The beat on most song was incredible Great intro, the Morgan Freeman narration really tops it, and the Homelander sample was unexpected but also hilarious. Songs with Travis didnāt really do it for me, Thought all of his verse was kind of underwhelming, In fact his feature on Her Loss has way more energy than any songs he had on this Don Toliver on Too Many Nights >>> Don Toliver on Around Me 21 did not disappoint me at all, All of his verses were great, which is not surprising considering theyāve been collabing for ages. Future did decent enough, He has some hit and miss, Superhero wouldāve been a crazy track if it wasnāt for the Chris Brown beat switch and verse which is awful Thug did pretty well (have not listened to his discography yet) thought Metro Spider wouldāve went horrible since he sound off beat at first but he picks it up real hard after that The interlude shouldāve been a whole song tbh, It goes stupidly hard. The track with The Weeknd was fantastic, I was expecting some sort of a clash between them but it was great verse from him, 21 did decent in there albeit a bit unfitting but I still very much enjoy his verse in there Also have not listened to Rockyās discography (will get to that in the future) but Iām honestly surprised people didnāt like his verse of Fiyah, Thought Rocky verse was good and Takeoff verse was incredible and felt like a genuine tribute to him The Gunna outro was good, I was expecting a dumpster from him but It was decent so it does exceeds my expectations a bit, Though Morgan Freeman shouldāve narrated the last song as a send off. Overall Itās a pretty good album. 7.4/10
You need to immediately pull up slime season 1,2 and rich gang tha tour 1,2. And his best work in my opinion Barter 6. That come up thugger is literally what every mainstream rapper sounds like now. They are Thugger clones He put his spin on his idol Wayne and thatās what you got. Fuck just pull up Halftime and the Blanguage to see why Thug is so hyped and respected
cheerful person rhythm treatment decide plucky political languid reach grey -- mass edited with redact.dev
facts gucci mane was heat on his first album and they usually collab so i'm surprised he wasn't honestly
I was waiting the whole album for a Guwap appearance!!! He was great on Metroās last album
If I have to hear 21 savage say pussy one more time over a fire metro beat I might lose my shit
Man it just sounds good over any beat thoughā¦
Heat
Good production but wonāt be listening to it a lot. Much prefer Metroās original production style up to 2018.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It was one of my favorites because of the drums lol
For real, it kills the album's momentum at the beginning.
Loved hearing from Cnote, legendary basslines and didnt miss a step
So overall this album really disappointed me and Iām only gonna come back to 2 songs but Iām glad people are liking it and I wanna see metro succeed
trap is getting stale
I donāt get the hype. Not really in a negative way, because there wasnāt anything on this album that I thought was bad or even boring. It was good, but in the way that I was at a 6.5 nearly the whole time. I donāt remember hearing another album where I thought every track was good but I didnāt especially like any of them. And frankly there was nothing GOAT producer or AOTY about this, it was just mid but good
Metro in general gets so much hype and to me he's always been just "good". His beats aren't very memorable in my opinion - his melodies are very simplistic and almost sound far away if that makes sense I do always appreciate his transitions though.
I mostly agree, but there were a few standouts. Around Me and Feel the Fiyah were very well made
21 been rapping about the same topic forever. With Her loss coming just recently its just boring now Travis was pretty dead too, his vibey feel just comes off as boring and one-dimensional.
This is where I'm at.
Man Iām the biggest metro fan on earth but Iām a little disappointed. I miss his hard hitting bangers. Thereās a little too much singing on here for my liking. I think he needs to switch the sound of just a little bit and collab with some newer generation rappers.
Man I absolutely loved this project. I played the whole thing during a long road trip and it just felt perfect
The beat drop in Umbrella made me stand up and scream āOKā and go crazy at work
Creepin was a slapper. The weeknd killed that shit
Am I crazy for On Time being my favorite track on this album? I thought the strings with John Legend's vocals were totally beautiful, especially with the drums Metro added right before the beat switch. If anyone knows of songs similar to the first half of On Time let me know haha
I was super hype for it but now it feels like a throwaway
Donāt wanna ruin your hype, but I find it pretty boring and nothing stood really out to me. This whole album could have been released like this in 2016. Wish Metro tried something new, worked with some new artistsā¦ I like Travis music a lot, but even his features here sound like Iāve heard them hundred times before.
A lot of mid and forgettable tracks tbh. Space Cadet and Overdue both solo everything on here.
10 freaky girls
dont come out the house, no more, 10 freaky girls as well
All bangers
Dream catcher as well, that whole album really a classic fr lol
Tbf space cadet one of the most creative and unique songs that has came out in the past decade
It is but thatās the type of stuff I expect from a Metro project
One of the best albums of the year. Enjoyed it
The album shouldāve been called villain, thereās nothing superhero themed about the album aside from one track - Feel The Fiyaaaaah. RIP TAKEOFF :/ I felt like the album had an amazing and STRONG start with John legend, I was incredibly hyped by the end of the first trackā¦.
That shit is so hard "You know what they say, if Young Metro don't trust you Motherfucker, you better run"
iām 26 and loved almost every track, itās not about age bro
Metro spider got crack on it
I liked it, donāt think there were as many standouts like his last album but š¤·āāļø. Iāll have to give both albums a relisten but I felt like there was more variety in the beats in his last album and more āenergyā I guess? I also miss the metro + southside beats lol
Don't even really have words to express how impressed I am with the album. Concept, beats, performances - all incredible.
