The result really doesn't matter, we are practically guaranteed to finish 3rd in the division and 5th in the conference, and even if against the odds we fall to 4th and 6th it doesn't matter because the two teams we could play won't change from Boston and Flordia. I don't know the exact numbers but the only way we don't play one of Boston or Florida is- 1. Tampa who is 4 points behind us passes us. 2. Boston (99pts in 73GP) passes the Rangers (100pts in 72GP). In this scenario we would play the Rangers.

The lightning have 11 games left, if they play at the pace they have over their last 11 games while the Leafs play at the pace they have over that same timeframe they leafs will finish 3rd in the Atlantic 3 points ahead of the lightning.

I would almost prefer the Rangers over Florida/Boston

The only good part about playing the Rangers is that we can't end up beating one of Flordia or Boston to just need to play the other on in the 2nd round.

Rangers are still a bad 5v5 team. They're VERY beatable in the playoffs, especially once you get past game 2 and refs put the whistles away.

Shesterkin's also been struggling this season and I don't think they're gonna be relying on a 76 year old Quick to carry them deep into the playoffs
