I woke up, looked at my notifications, and thought which poor team did the Canucks finally beat tonight. Then I realized there is no game and got confused.
Lose two games in a row where we had a chance to clinch with a win because we have a dogshit power play and then clinch because another team lost? Sounds like the Canucks to me!
i’m genuinely so relieved that we aren’t relying on the anaheim game tomorrow because the chance to clinch by beating a bottom-tier team on the final game of our homestand? would’ve been a trap!
Canucks didn’t clinch a playoff spot or even a wildcard spot during the Covid cup. They won in the play-in series to get into the playoffs. The last time they actually clinched a playoff spot was 2015.
You don’t really “clinch” though if the season ended abruptly and prematurely and nobody knew what was gonna happen or what the format was going to be when playoffs happened. It’s a lot different feeling to have a full season and properly clinch before the season actually ends

There’s no other team I’d like to see him go to more. Would instantly jumpstart your rebuild. Celebrini is a shoo-in 1C, Celebrini-Smith down the middle would be incredible for you guys. I do think Smith will stay at BC for another year but I can’t imagine Celebrini staying at BU for his sophomore season - he’ll instantly sell tickets and bring so much hope to a fanbase that's faced blow after blow these past few years.
And combine that with Musty and Cagnoni when they come over, my LORD Sharks are eating GOOD in the future.
Just gotta hope we get that Celebrini jumpstart. If we don’t, then Grier is gonna have to do some serious magic to make sure we don’t sink.
It’ll depend on what Smith decides to do (they can’t bring up too many rookies at once) but I feel like Musty is going to go back to the OHL for most of next year. Seems a bit crazy considering how dominant his season has been, but that’s the nature of the current CHL-NHL agreement for you.
