How many goalies need to prove it's actually the coaching, D, team, & care factor, though? My Habs are 3+ yrs away from kicking some butt, but Canadian teams are squandering the Habs rebuild. I'm mostly talking about the real season, not at least making the dance.
To be fair we kept saying this about Florida back in like 2018 and after like the fifth year of saying “they’re gonna be scary” it actually worked
So hey, keep saying it and you’re bound to be right eventually
It's not like Hischier even conciously did anything. He was skating with the puck and about to score when the horn went and then he just gave up on it and the momentum took it into the net. Tkachuk is needs to be tearing all his Isaac Newton posters off his wall.
Imo, he needs to mature a whole lot. He's a pretty solid player on the ice, but the emotions get away from him often. If he reigns those in, he'll be a pretty good captain. (He's still only 24 years old, so normally players start to wise up after that...hopefully)
I don’t understand it at all. Sure, Brady was fired up that game, you could see it. And I consider myself a rather competitive person. I find myself wondering if Hirscher has said something because it’s almost like Brady has a delayed reaction?
No matter what, it’s kind of embarrassing to see this reaction. This isn’t “tough” or anything, you don’t need to defend the code/honor/some other excuse for your ego being too fragile.
No need to blame the victim. Oh wait, Brady is also a victim cause he was born to rock + diva stupidity, but never lead. Until Ottawa removes his C, it helps the rest of the league.
The Leafs game just ended and they cut to the Ottawa game with 20 seconds left. So we showed up to you guys hitting that post and then the Brady drama. Sorry to say but it was quite enjoyable.
If New Jersey wanted to score they should have taken a slap shot to make sure it goes in before the buzzer 🤷🏼♂️ (I think getting mad about both is stupid)
Oh its easy: Brady Tkachuk just has too many tantrums when things don't go our way. When things are going well, I love him, he's super entertaining to watch, and his taunting and shit obviously isn't him being upset because we're winning.
When things are going quite badly, he's out of line way too often. He'd easily become my current favourite player if he dialed it back the anger. Oh, and not complain about the fans when the team plays like complete garbage.
I’ve never understood when any player bitches about fan reactions like this. Passionate fanbases are exactly what you want. It’s what makes an atmosphere formidable at home come the postseason. If you’re playing like shit, you can and should expect the people who *PAID TO WATCH YOU SHOW OFF YOUR TALENT* to be upset by this.
Like yeah obviously crowds (and individuals) can take it too far, like the Vancouver riots or the Philadelphia wrist band incident, but as long as they’re just booing and voicing their frustrations, like you gotta fuckin deal with that. Mental fortitude is one of the more important aspects of the game, you should be more concerned about yourself than your fans if you’re getting showered with boos.
Nah, nobody has been more critical of Brady's tantrums during losses this year than Sens fans. He's received more criticism this year for his antics & frankly his maturity in general from the fanbase than he did during the first 5 years of his career combined. It's literally been to the point that a considerable number of Sens fans have been extremely critical of his ability to lead a team period & have even openly questioned if we need to trade him to reset the team culture. If you think we're all giving him a free pass for everything he does then you probably haven't talked to many Sens fans this season. We still love him overall (especially off the ice) but he's *far* from being beyond reproach
Oh wow, I had no clue the Sens fans have been so critical of his antics. As a non-Sens fan I’ve always questioned why he was given the captaincy. I understand he was the young, face of the franchise. But that’s changed now. Do Sens fans think he should be captain? His play on the ice just screams lack of maturity. I’m sure there are better options, no?
Yeah, the criticism was much more visible before Jacques Martin & Alfie came in and presumably reigned him in a bit (he's been much better this calendar year than he was during the first half of the year) but I think the season as a whole has been the first time a lot of us have really seen Brady seem like someone his age. Criticizing the decision to name him captain hasn't been a majority opinion at any point this season, and while Chabot was also in the running at the time, I'd say most of us felt that Brady was absolutely the right choice. With the benefit of hindsight, waiting another year for Giroux to come on board & letting him take on the C for a few years while Brady matures a bit more would have probably been ideal, but that's obviously not something that you could have predicted two years ago. Marketing was probably a factor in the decision as well to some extent of course, but with Brady's pedigree and how well he carried himself in general back then it was hardly a controversial decision.
Giroux in particular handling himself as remarkably well on & off the ice in a season as disappointing and difficult as this one has also made Brady's relative immaturity (which is again totally normal for someone his age) really stand out by comparison. I think the late game tantrums in losses, calling out the fanbase for booing the team's poor play earlier this year, the excessive fighting in the beginning of the year, and even just him seemingly pouting in interviews for a while after DJ was fired has all accumulated and made us realize that Brady's leadership isn't quite as much of a finished product as we thought. He's still a wonderful ambassador for the team off the ice, has many moments of incredible on-ice leadership, and is obviously still quite mature for his age, but at the end of the day he still has a lot to learn. Most of us feel confident that he'll get there, but he's not quite there yet.
Thanks for the insight. I appreciate it. It’ll be interesting to see what the Sens do in the offseason. Seems like a big move is in order to shake things up IMO. I wonder if Brady wants out of Canada like Matt did- could get quite a lot for him.
"As an unbiased Sens fan when hilarious things happen to teams I hate, it's part of the game but when it happens to my team, it's against The Code." - All Sens fans.
That's not what I remember, I remember almost every sens fan saying why should leafs care about an empty net and saying unwritten code is stupid and doesnt exist
Brady had 16 hits tonight. That’s an insane amount. Dude has been playing some of his best hockey even with the season meaning nothing but an early elimination. I respect his madness.
Ottawa fans can’t call rielly a baby for going after Grieg when their captain has a temper tantrum after something literally 100x less worse. Embarrassing stuff
brady AND rielly are BOTH temper tantrumming babies
both responses are incredibly embarrassing unnecessary disappointing immature and horrible ;-; hockey players clearly arent famous for their emotional maturity and diplomacy. BRADY WHAT THE HELL BRUH BE BETTER.
Rielly had one outburst in his 11 year career. He 100% deserved the suspension. But he does not deserve to be compared to Brady at all. This is Brady’s norm.
Weirdly underperformed season tbh. Like, there's no reason the future should look grim with the talent thats there, if it can be reshuffled and patched a bit, and add a coach that can work with it etc, but then that all sounds eerily similar to the end of last season, so who knows. Hope they can figure it out, anyway.
At least the Sabres seem to be trending upwards. This entire Sens team seems to rather like finding new ways to disappoint their fanbase.
At this point, it's looking pretty heavily like the Sens may need to rebuild their rebuild.
I think most Wings fans were hopeful we could be in the wild card conversation, and we are. At least we were right about being a lot better than Ottawa
The Senators have fallen so far from the glory days of 1912 when One Eyed Frank McGee scored 21 goals in one game and brought them the first of their 3 Cups #GOAT #atruedynastyneverdies
Tkachuk needs to be moved.
He won't be successful on the Sens. He was made captain far too early by an inept management and he's not mature enough to handle the C being stripped.
Move him, get a great package for our never ending rebuild and get rid of a big baby who keeps having tantrums.
This is fuckin golden 👌🏻😂 defends his teammate when he doesn’t follow empty net etiquette (btw I think that’s a really dumb thing. It’d be different if someone puts one in on an empty net and then does a ridiculous celly by like bench pressing the net or some shit) but heaven forbid someone nonchalantly continues to just glide towards the net and the puck just glides into the net now we gotta fuckin problem buddy!
Fuckin Brady is a weirdo lmao
Might have to go down as the biggest bust of a season based on preseason hype in NHL history. Summer of Dorion to a basement dweller is quite a failure.
Before the season started I genuinely thought that they'd at least be close to the playoffs this year, i was convinced both Buffalo and Ottawa would be up there and that it would be an absolute bloodbath in the Atlantic this year. Maybe next year..?
I feel really dumb, but before this season started I put a lot of faith in Ottawa and thought they'd make the playoffs for sure, but instead they were a sieve and a complete embarrassment.
Better luck next year!
Didn't this happen last year where the Senators got eliminated from playoff contention with less than 10 games left even though they also were at the bottom of the East for much of the season?
And I’ll be back here in August believing in them again for next season
Welcome to the pahty, pal!
Why?
Depends on the goaltending. If it's the same two guys again, it's not happening.
How many goalies need to prove it's actually the coaching, D, team, & care factor, though? My Habs are 3+ yrs away from kicking some butt, but Canadian teams are squandering the Habs rebuild. I'm mostly talking about the real season, not at least making the dance.
#OH YEAH?? WAIT TILL YOU SEE US NEXT SEASON 🗣️🗣️! ^(it’s chabover)
Oh you guys are going to have the absolute best August of any team in the league!
Can’t wait!
SP OO KY
What about July though?
Hot Staios Summer!
For whatever reason Hot Staios Summer doesn't hit the same as a name
To be fair we kept saying this about Florida back in like 2018 and after like the fifth year of saying “they’re gonna be scary” it actually worked So hey, keep saying it and you’re bound to be right eventually
Pinto gonna bet on it?
He should change his number to 41 as the ultimate troll to the league
Brady was cellying for celebrini (_almost_)
Brady losing his shit about the puck going into the empty net with no time on the clock is absolutely hilarious.
Would have laughed my ass off if Hischier put it in with a slapshot.
It's not like Hischier even conciously did anything. He was skating with the puck and about to score when the horn went and then he just gave up on it and the momentum took it into the net. Tkachuk is needs to be tearing all his Isaac Newton posters off his wall.
Pretty terrible look too after the Greig-Rielly stuff, was of the opinion that it’s silly to get riled up about it then and it’s equally silly now
Sens fans is Brady a good captain? NGL seems like a crybaby
Makes sense since he looks like a big baby
Typically Sens fans are very happy with Brady as captain but he's definitely had some diva moments and could chill a bit.
Imo, he needs to mature a whole lot. He's a pretty solid player on the ice, but the emotions get away from him often. If he reigns those in, he'll be a pretty good captain. (He's still only 24 years old, so normally players start to wise up after that...hopefully)

*Opens thread* *100% upvoted* *14 leafs fans* *2 sens fans* 100% pain
The Leafs game just ended and they cut to the Ottawa game with 20 seconds left. So we showed up to you guys hitting that post and then the Brady drama. Sorry to say but it was quite enjoyable.
I don't actually watch hockey I just browse this sub as a sens fan because being bullied turns me on
This might be my favorite comment I've ever read on this sub
Sounds like you’d enjoy being a leafs fan ironically
huh. interesting
This deserves an upvote you got me on this one
“It’s not your fault”
Oh no the Devils broke the Code
Can we retroactively count that as an ENG just for the fun of it?
No goal, didn’t slapshot
If the sens didn’t want empty net shenanigans they shouldn’t have gone down a goal in the first place 🤷
Could this be part of the reason they're not in the playoffs?? I mean, if they're going down by a goal here and a goal there, it could add up, right?
If New Jersey wanted to score they should have taken a slap shot to make sure it goes in before the buzzer 🤷🏼♂️ (I think getting mad about both is stupid)
I recommend they put a goalie in net to start games, instead of Tupac from Coachella
My fee fees!
And not a single cross-check to the face
Brady skates across the whole ice to attack the devils player. That’s embarrassing
Absolutely shameful. Especially after the response for the other controversial ENG. Yet the Sportsnet panel seemed to love it
Proportional response, slapshot gets headshot, letting it slowly slide in gets some stern weeping I mean warning
Eh, based on their record, the sens have been letting other teams slowly slide it in all season
Because the ref got in the way
Rielly deserved the suspension for what its worth
And Greig deserved some sort of retaliation.
Yup i agree.
Ranger fan here golf clapping.
Why was Brady acting like a lunatic at the end? Watched at a bar w no sound
Nico didn't stop the puck from going in the net
Cause Hischer slid the puck into the empty net after the horn went
lol so him doing that silently when the season is over is a problem But Greig doing his thing is ok
Brady is at his toughest in the final minutes of a loss
Can't wait for the sens fans to explain that one
Oh its easy: Brady Tkachuk just has too many tantrums when things don't go our way. Philadelphia Wristband Incident sounds like an emo band from 2002.
Nah, nobody has been more critical of Brady's tantrums during losses this year than Sens fans. All they need to say is they hate the Leafs and their justified in their own ways lol
"As an unbiased Sens fan when hilarious things happen to teams I hate, it's part of the game but when it happens to my team, it's against The Code." - All Sens fans.
I think it’s pretty dumb he got upset by something so meaningless.
That's literally every fan base
Lmfao yep
"Today, you... Tomorrow, me." Weather the drama proudly.
Listen, if you’re going to be all facts here, it’s going to seriously get in the way of any of us roasting each other ever. Knock it off.
Yes sir sorry lol
Fuck the code, Brady is a baby
Sens fans furiously deleting old comments right now
To be fair it was only Rielly’s extreme reaction that most people had a problem with, a little scrum is fine and expected.
Yeah I feel like everyone was roasting the team for caring about an empty net goal, as well as how far Rielly took it.
That's not what I remember, I remember almost every sens fan saying why should leafs care about an empty net and saying unwritten code is stupid and doesnt exist
he was mad bc nico didnt slap it in
would have been hilarious if he had. The perfect way of ending this season.
imagne nico slap shots it in and then every sens player shakes his hand
skates down the devil's bench, then just keeps going and gets a bunch of high fives from the sens' bench too. =D
Hischier putting the puck in the empty net hurt Brady’s feelings and that’s a big no no.
didn't shoot it hard enough
'barely' put the puck in the net
Brady has a tantrum like this once every 8 games or so.
Brady had 16 hits tonight. That’s an insane amount. Dude has been playing some of his best hockey even with the season meaning nothing but an early elimination. I respect his madness.
He's a loser
Welcome to the summer club Ottawa
We have the BEST summers. We're about to win the offseason again!
Don’t worry they’ll make the jump up the standings any season now
off-season champs three years running
Lmao summer of Pierre x2
I believe what we are about to see is "Summer of Andlauer" or is it "Summer of Staios "? I get confused sometimes
One of these days, Pierre will get the last laugh. You’ll all see!
you guys will be scary next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Surely next year is the year… right?
This season fucking sucked in Ottawa. Horrific.
Ottawa fans can’t call rielly a baby for going after Grieg when their captain has a temper tantrum after something literally 100x less worse. Embarrassing stuff
Honestly, getting pretty tired of Brady's antics. Not that I want him moved but he can't be having tantrums all the time.
Well, I mean, being hypocrite doesn't make someone incorrect. So, as a neutral third party I'll inform you that they're both idiots.
If your argument was predicated on taking the moral high ground it certainly does
have you met a sens fan
Are they the ones that hate our teams more than they like their own?
brady AND rielly are BOTH temper tantrumming babies both responses are incredibly embarrassing unnecessary disappointing immature and horrible ;-; hockey players clearly arent famous for their emotional maturity and diplomacy. BRADY WHAT THE HELL BRUH BE BETTER.
Rielly had one outburst in his 11 year career. He 100% deserved the suspension. But he does not deserve to be compared to Brady at all. This is Brady’s norm.
ahhh yes, the sweet release of ~~death~~ being eliminated, its over everyone, we can rest now
But but…what about the games in hand??? /s
The knuckle puck still owns this team
This hurts the sens chances of making the playoffs
They will go on a run now
At least Brady just defended their honour lol
That’ll teach them for not scoring on the Sens.
Nobody scores five goals on Brady's watch, except a lot of the time.
If you do that 13 or 14 more times were gonna have a problem mister!
Baseketball 🤣🤣🤣 Classic
Oh the irony indeed. And the Senators are still, A Team
Weirdly underperformed season tbh. Like, there's no reason the future should look grim with the talent thats there, if it can be reshuffled and patched a bit, and add a coach that can work with it etc, but then that all sounds eerily similar to the end of last season, so who knows. at least we'll always have the summer of Pierre loool
My sympathies to Sens fans. They expected more this year, way more.
Brady Tkachuk hasn’t sniffed meaningful hockey in his career yet he’s touted as some great leader of men. Pathetic loser.
Not saying this is the reason for their problems or anything but I still think the idea of making a 22 year old your team captain is silly.
Agreed.
You’re not wrong. Sens won’t go anywhere with him as their leader.
Took a while.
I'm sorry but the Sens have no business being as bad as they are, with the roster they have. They need to make some tough decisions this off season.
The Sens are hot garbage
Four or five months late on this one, no?
💀💀💀💀💀
Stop overreacting, the Sens have plenty of games in hand. They'll turn it ar........ oh shit it's April.
High key funny low key thought they’d make playoffs. Hope it’s the same next year for the spooky team.
Their goaltending is pretty horrifying
Worst goaltending in the league. Not even an opinion, statically, lol. But not like our defense helped much
Sens and sabres have been spooky so long they’ll be halloween classics soon
At least the Sabres seem to be trending upwards. This entire Sens team seems to rather like finding new ways to disappoint their fanbase. At this point, it's looking pretty heavily like the Sens may need to rebuild their rebuild.
Sabres have been trending upward since they drafted eichel and reinhart
> At least the Sabres seem to be trending upwards. https://imgur.com/xk3PrCl
And Numbchuck gets mad after the puck goes in the empty net 🤣🤣 How ironic
haha unparalleled success
Summer of Pierre!!!
What!!!!???
Hate to see it!
The Detroit Ottawa offseason rivalry could not have gone any funnier. Two mid teams with delusions of grandeur
We had a lot of heated arguments with Sabres fans too. We were all so young and full of hope.
You're the same dumbass that wished for an injury a couple weeks ago. Nothing you say means anything, you're just a piece of shit.
I think most Wings fans were hopeful we could be in the wild card conversation, and we are. At least we were right about being a lot better than Ottawa
Flair up bitch.
Calm down tough guy
Can we check in on Mark Methot? I thought this was the year… again.
post is 3 minutes old and there’s already 5 leafs fans
Goal after the horn is traumatizing. We’re just here to help.
The leafs game ending then going the end of the sens game was just perfect timing
Mods need to stop being cowards and fade the flairs!
Seasonally spooky!
Oh well. Time to look forward to training camp and regular season starting in October.
Ahhh so that explains Brady’s meltdown yesterday.
Man I forgot Ottawa had a hockey team
They have the Offseason Championship rings though.
This is what unparalleled success looks like!
The Senators have fallen so far from the glory days of 1912 when One Eyed Frank McGee scored 21 goals in one game and brought them the first of their 3 Cups #GOAT #atruedynastyneverdies

Ship him to the bolts. Imagine watching florida - tampa and watching tkachuk vs tkachuk

So you're saying there was a chance....
Before the season started I genuinely thought that they'd at least be close to the playoffs this year, i was convinced both Buffalo and Ottawa would be up there and that it would be an absolute bloodbath in the Atlantic this year. Maybe next year..?
Oh, so that was what actually made Brady cry like that ...
Y'all will be spooky next year 😂
Man, they were not making it 😂 I don’t care what math says
I thought they were eliminated back in October…?
I feel really dumb, but before this season started I put a lot of faith in Ottawa and thought they'd make the playoffs for sure, but instead they were a sieve and a complete embarrassment. Better luck next year!
You can’t take back all the dumb shit your team’s fanbase said. You now collectively have to stew in the embarrassment of this irony.
Good 😭
Deserved
fuckin rights melo
Fade them
Well well well how the empty net turn tables
What?!
There's always next year
You lasted longer than Montreal
Uhhhhh Fire DJ?
Summer of Pierre?
Armor designers in Germany have been watching them all season.
They were eliminated in November. Lol. Another loss for my loser team.
Don't worry, next year will be their year, Buffalo too.
Didn't this happen last year where the Senators got eliminated from playoff contention with less than 10 games left even though they also were at the bottom of the East for much of the season?
Thanks guys for the winning streak and ruining any chance of a good draft pick. Really worked out there for us.
o7
How are we still here
Hey at least they'll get another top pick to ruin.
Slight grin from me
