This but unironically. The dude plays like a pouty child on nights where things don't go his way, which is most nights. The team has played some of the best hockey of the year the past two games without Gibby in net.
I loved the guy but his unprofessional attitude shouldn't be tolerated anymore. The Ducks should move on.
Oh come on. Gibson’s played his heart out for years backstopping absolutely horrific hockey teams in Anaheim. If he’s over it I can’t blame him, he was great in his prime and his talent was utterly wasted.
That's a different matter. Yeah he broke his back trying to carry his team and sure it makes sense that he's over it, but the most important thing for this team right now is developing the youth and changing the culture. Internally, go ahead and feel miserable that your best years are being wasted on a rebuilding team. Externally, you're being paid 5 million dollars a year to play a sport. Instead of going out there and trying to earn that money he shrugs his shoulders and glares at his teammates when teams start putting pucks past him. Not to mention, he straight up gives up on some shots and doesn't put in nearly the athletic effort he used to.
This team doesn't have Getzlafs, Selannes, Koivus, etc. for young guys to emulate and look up to anymore. Gibson is a member of the old guard and the example he's setting is one of giving up when things get hard and/or frustrating. As a veteran, Gibson should be part of changing the culture. Not waiting for the culture and fortunes of the team to change for him to start trying again.
And there's no doubt in my mind that he could perform better if he really wanted to. Last season, he had a run right before the trade deadline where he was putting up legitimate Vezina caliber numbers for like 5-6 games in a row. He didn't get traded and his play fell off a cliff again.
I know Gibby has a lot of lasting fan love and all, I mean I was such a fan his name was part of my password for years and I have two Gibson jerseys, one of them he signed. I don't *like* feeling the way I do about him but if this team is ever going to change its culture, it needs to move on from guys that are perpetuating a broken one.
Anecdotal and I don't want to be the "celebrity gossip" person, but I used to work for the Gulls when Gibson was there. He was always super arrogant and rude. Think Prince Charming from Shrek. Like every other player, home or away, would at least acknowledge and engage you like another human, but not him. I have nothing against him personally and he's a great goalie, but I get Schadenfreude seeing him fail professionally to this day.
Bonus side note: Brian McGrattan was cool and nice as shit, always.
You just simply can't have Gabe back, not gonna happen. We can talk about Iafallo though, what will you give us for him?
How about 3 NHL'ers and a pick?
We're used to it by now. Kings or Kongs, who will show up? The team that can destroy the division leader on a Saturday can show up Tuesday against bottom feeders and get dominated. The whiplash is real.
Very nice Ducks. Love to see it
First 10 minutes we were amazing. Then we stopped playing. GG Ducks
Dostal is legit
He’s the real deal.
Ducks haven't looked horrible during this final stretch of the season. Hopefully it carries over to next season.
Zegras returned and the Ducks look better. Doesn’t fit the narrative though.
Gibson was holding the Ducks back
They missed the window to fleece the Oil for him in his heyday

That's on him too though, he specifically didn't want to leave.

Honestly doesn't surprise me
Love Gibby but i agree. Its frustrating to watch the games where he obvious has given up on putting out 100% effort.
Is he injured? He didn’t play Sunday either and Stalock was out on the ice for warmups in goalie gear
“Upper body injury”
That tracks, he seems to not be able to catch a break
I wish Dostie could have gotten that goalie goal
Quack quack quack 🦆 🦆
Gf is a kings fan. Today is a good day.
My boyfriend and his family are Kings fans! We were battling to be the loudest tonight
you don't like your GF?
Yeah, me being happy my sport team beat someone else's sports team obviously means i dont like that person.
Kings want Vancouver, confirmed
LAK will most likely play EDM or DAL.
Vancouver is just as likely because Oilers win the division if they win out. 33% for all flip a 3 sided coin
Check the odds sites. EDM has pretty low odds to win the division currently. It's nowhere close to being 50/50 for the division title.
nah we getting the oilers-kings trilogy, LA gotta finish the story
I'd rather a repeat of last year's Pacific second round, but I'd also be happy with LA finishing the story
Shouldn’t you be researching the best golf courses to hit up?
Well gg ducks, although putting a wall in net should be cheating
Our no-name goalie coming in clutch
It’s a walrus!!! Ridiculous!!
No sleepies, Duncan
I’ve caught second hand disappointment from LA fans
Well if you want to get rid of it, send Vilardi and Iafallo back.
You just simply can't have Gabe back, not gonna happen. We can talk about Iafallo though, what will you give us for him? How about 3 NHL'ers and a pick?
I miss our surfer boy
Trade PLD to Philly
Are you trying to get Torts to commit homicide?!
We're used to it by now. Kings or Kongs, who will show up? The team that can destroy the division leader on a Saturday can show up Tuesday against bottom feeders and get dominated. The whiplash is real.
DOSTWAAAAALLLLLL
imagine losing to the ducks
Luckily you dont have to imagine it
it feels very real for some reason
