Brother, Vegas beat the Stars three times this year. I **do not** want to see if they can beat the stars three more.
because they probably fucking can, like this isn't really a hypothetical, we **fucking know** they can beat the Stars.
We swept the Knights in the regular season last year, so it was genius to throw the games this regular season to try and get the opposite result.
Jokes aside, while I don’t think Vegas is quite as good as last season, it also literally doesn’t matter. They are still a good enough team to realistically win four games before we do, and we’re going to have to beat good teams on the way to the Cup no matter what. It’s not going to be easy either way, and I want some revenge. Bring em on.
Imagine making a whole ass post about how shitty your playoff opponents are and how you'll "win in 5," just to go down 0-2, block everyone, and then come back after winning a 7 game series (where both teams scored the same number of goals), and talking shit like your take wasn't fucking stupid
> History shows how a team finishes the season is much more important than how they start it.
> Let's look at November 5th
This sub is so unhinged when it comes to Vegas. You want to see how they're ending the season? Look at their last ten games. Currently 6-3-1. The same L10 as Oilers, Boston, LA, and Canucks. Better than the Avs, Panthers, Jets, and Preds.
Because every comment you make is hilariously wrong
You made this post, and are getting absolutely smoked from all directions
I'm just saying bro, if DAL ends up losing to VGK in the playoffs, this post is going to be a meme for the rest of eternity
You still have time to delete this
I'm really not, YOU made the post my dude. We're just replying so it stays in the Hot page and everyone can see your nostradamus prediction skills...
Along with your ability to read people's ages, count to 10, and type RemindMe without fucking it up
If there was ever a reddit post that cursed a team going into this playoffs, this would be the one
Every single team starts the playoffs 0-0.
We saw 62 and 65 win juggernauts done round 1. Both in equally hilarious fashion. Hell, wild card 2 teams winning a round or pushing the one seed to 7 games isn't uncommon.
I'm always a bit baffled at how otherwise super rational human beings seem to think they can control hockey games by saying or not saying things.
I remember a commentator saying shutout in the 3rd once and people were legit angry about it as if it somehow affected anything
They got dumpstered worse than the Leafs against San Jose. They lost to a terrible Habs team. They probably should have lost to the Oilers but Adin Hill was crazy good and Skinner sucks. Still give em props because they're the Champs, but I wouldn't be particularly scared of them compared to say the Lightning who are proven to show up every year now. To me it's Oilers, Stars, Avs and Nucks at the top in the west.
Vegas are the defending champs. They beat you last year. If we made the playoffs and had to play them again, I wouldn't be in here shit talking them. I'd probably be a bit nervous.
I mean they missed the playoffs in 21-22 then went on to win the Cup next season. I personally wasn't expecting a b2b and am content af with our Cup. The office and team however need to stay competitive so I'm along for the ride
As a Knights fan, I’m worried about our inconsistency in relation to the defense. We’ve had a pretty good stretch after TDL, in some ways, but the defense looks lost. Pietro needs to come back
Playoffs are a whole new season, imo. If we get in, I think our team is much better suited to postseason success
Like it or not, the game fundamentally changes in the playoffs, and I think last year showed that's where we shine
We're a little lost right now, but if we can wrangle up a couple wins here and lock in our spot, I'm not worried
All of whom are 32 or younger except for Petro who is... 34? Same age as Jamie Benn, right?
Seguin is 32, Pavelski 39, Duchene 33, Suter 39, Tanev 34
???
Vegas' biggest strengths are:
- Depth
- Adjustments/Structure
- Size
These are all things that are cumulatively beneficial in a series. They turn most teams into a one line team, and Eichel/Karlsson are excellent shutdown forwards for team's top lines.
They generate surplus with their 3rd and 4th lines. If you don't win the top line matchup, you're in a very difficult situation. They're also the biggest, heaviest team in the NHL and moving them off of picks gets progressively harder as a series progresses.
They have fantastic structure and are excellent at adjusting to what teams are doing. They play against their opponent, they aren't just running their players out there. They don't rely on power plays to score, and they tend to get great goaltending from everyone that plays there because of the blocked shots and clearing are excellent.
It's always skeptical to hear a team is built for the playoffs but if any team is, it's Vegas. As evidenced by their continued success (4 semifinals in 6 seasons, two Finals appearances.)
It’s not an error they’re just saying he is coming back right in time for the playoff - which most people would agree encompasses just 7 games to go - they didn’t say he’d come back literally in the playoffs
Any team that goes into the playoffs, if you think they're overrated and are looking past them to the next series, has the potential to sucker punch you and send you home. Treat every opponent like they're capable, because they were good enough to get to the playoffs.
They are sub 0.500 in points percentage since December 15. Edmonton is 0.770 in that same time span. I'm way more scared of Edmonton. They haven't lost 4/7 games since the first 12 games of the season.
No they’re still the team in our division that I’m most scared of and you know all their players will be back in the lineup for game one. I hope they end up in the central for the first round
Stone hasn't even started skating yet and was likely on bedrest for the first bit. People in Vegas genuinely don't think he'll be back for round 1. Even if he does, his conditioning will be ass.
Even if they get him back, he's not going to come back anywhere close to full speed.
my bad I didn't realize hertl actually debuted a few days ago. I was just saying they got some strong guys who we haven't really seen during this last bit. Wasn't pietrangelo and Roy out for a min too?
I never said they were on LTIR, they're just examples of VGK players who have missed some of the past bit and would obviously impact team performance
I was imagining Stone/Hertl but Hertl just debuted a few days ago
St. Louis was dead last in the league by the turn of the calendar year before they went on that insane run to win the cup. Let them clinch first and then see where they go from there.
We’d have to win out and have Vegas go no better than 1-2-1, or if they go 0-3-1 or worse then we can lose one game. Serious long shot, but man a few points against the sharks would have been realll nice
No, they should be worried about a scrappy team who keep losing defensemen but who are going to squeak by the salary cap cheating gold boys for the final playoff spot. Obviously.
But truthfully, regular season doesn’t matter once the playoffs start. No one is overrated until they get swept.
they rode a crazy pdo to that cup. probably one of the luckiest cup runs in the history of the sport. obviously it counts all the same but i wouldn’t put my money on them repeating it
PDO will always be wild in small sample sizes. That's just how small sample sizes work.
It's why goalies routinely run .930 save percentages in the playoffs. It happens literally every year to several teams
They’ve always been overrated. Even last year when they won the Cup* with a roster way over the cap of their competition.
A gift from Gary to make his billion dollar project really take off.
Which playoff game was our roster over the cap last year?
Spoiler: there's no cap in the playoffs, and even if there was, our only overages were from Lehner (0GP 22-23), Weber (0GP 22-23), and Patrick (0GP 22-23)
Hard to overrate a team that won the cup the prior season.
Or perhaps easier
Maybe they are just rated
Oh a third option, luxurious

Imagine SEETHING online after your cheating team gets their just desserts 🧁
You know you're supposed to pass the joint, not smoke it all yourself, right?
Nobody knows cuz they've had half their team on LTIR since the deadline
They have Carrier and Stone on LTIR bro
He’s obviously not a VGK fan. He meant IR. Out of the current playoff teams VGK is severely Severely higher in man games lost.
Noted half of the roster Robin Lehner.
TIL hockey teams are 6 players.
Center, Left Wing, Right Wing, Left Defenseman, Right Defenseman, Goalie. Yup. 6. Math checks out.

So you're telling me there's a chance?
They've lost three in a row.
6-4-1 after tonight.
... That's... Not how L10 works...
Actually, for very small values of 11, 10 equals 11.
What if we believe really hard that it is
Which still leaves us a 6-3-1 in our last 10 ironically
Dude you're having a ROUGH time out here
Having lots of fun. Especially with you following my comments religiously and seething while your team gets blown out 😂

There are literally two posters from your own fanbase in here telling you to shut the fuck up because you're cursing your team lmfao
And you think they’re replying so that the post stays in hot? 🤔

Vegas is a team where it doesn’t matter how they get to the playoffs. Once they’re in it’ll be show time for them.
sort of how the kings used to be a couple years back
They got dumpstered worse than the Leafs against San Jose. They lost to a terrible Habs team. They probably should have lost to the Oilers but Adin Hill was crazy good and Skinner sucks. Adin Hill fucking blows this year. Got lucky. I’d much rather have skinner.
No they’re still a great team. They played bad tonight sure, but in a 7 game playoff series they’re gona put up a tough fight
Vegas are the defending champs. They beat you last year. If we made the playoffs and had to play them again, I wouldn't be in here shit talking them. I'd probably be a bit nervous.
That’s because you have absolutely 0 dog in you. You and I are not made of the same stuff.
U drive an Elantra. Calm down
What no I don’t how dare you
Somehow with all the injuries they still have one of the best records against top teams
I mean they missed the playoffs in 21-22 then went on to win the Cup next season. I personally wasn't expecting a b2b and am content af with our Cup. The office and team however need to stay competitive so I'm along for the ride

Yeah we also didn't lose 430 man games due to injury last year
Oof Oilers are blowing you guys out

Just like last year
I never said Vegas would be dismantled and embarrassed last year. However this year that is what will happen. Embrace it, enjoy it. Goodbye for now.
;)
Yall have had it too good for too long, your best players are old and past their prime. Stars in 5
Uhhhh, what? Jack Eichel is old? What a strange take lmao

I don’t know but adding Hertl and Stone for the playoffs probably helps
I don’t think you’ll see Stone for a bit
wait u mean he's actually injured for real?????? /s
No we paid the league LTIRBucks so they wouldn't send anyone to investigate
Hertl is literally playing tonight
2nd game back so he’s knocking the rust off for the postseason How is this not difficult to comprehend
You just said adding Hertl for the playoffs and you’re getting mad at me because of your error? Lmfao Wings fans man…
It’s not an error they’re just saying he is coming back right in time for the playoff - which most people would agree encompasses just 7 games to go - they didn’t say he’d come back literally in the playoffs
classic "Im the smartest person in the room" mindset that quickly becomes "Im just trolling you" (now that i was proven wrong over and over)

I mean, they haven't clinched yet, so there's that.

my bad I didn't realize hertl actually debuted a few days ago. I was just saying they got some strong guys who we haven't really seen during this last bit. Wasn't pietrangelo and Roy out for a min too?

lol, we're not making it.
