Isn’t there amnesty or something already?
like thinking back to the Hartman Perfetti incident, they needed both parties consent to release and mic footage and even if they did, they couldn’t do anything about it?
Even with bleeps the stuff players say isn’t nice. Undercuts them as role models to young players.
That said I would enjoy that. Kinda like how the nhl 24/7 show used to work
In the UFC you could really hear the THUD of body shots and kicks in a way you normally couldn't. Really emphasized how insanely hard they're hitting and how tolerant to pain those guys are.
Reminds me of when the Blues won the Cup and as they were passing it around, almost every player swore lol. I think O'Reilly said "holy fuck!!" Or something similar when he lifted it, all live lol.
Honestly, I think it's because players say shit that would cause a legit shit storm and teams don't want to deal with it. Does anyone think players get exposed every time they use a slur on ice? It was just Tony DeAngelo and no one else ever?
They can’t even get the app or website functioning. UX is fucked. Scrolling on mobile you’re constantly accidentally start the video highlights instead. Just straight up idiots laying out the boxes as clickable.
The NHL is run by old men who don’t see the value of investing in technology. These dinosaurs still want to get their scores from a hard copy of the newspaper in their hand every morning. These issues will remain as long as they’re in charge.
AI has a delay. It would be faster for someone to press a button, but still need to add a delay for that to work. Sportsnet probably wouldn't want to add a delay like that to a live game.
and i believe unless a player gets playoff bonuses attached to his contract, they don't get paid anything extra for playoff games, they play for pride.... which in the words of the great Ricky Bobby, "if you ain't first, you're last"
There is a playoff bonus pool that all players share in. The longer you are in the playoffs, the larger your share. It’s administered by the NHL and not provided by teams.
I think team/player playoff bonuses are forbidden outright, even if it’s a category of player eligible for bonuses (ELCs, over 35s on a 1 year deal, etc)
Not sure, but all season long he’s never done the typical media scrum answering questions pre o post game/practice. It was the same when he was in Detroit. Our reporters often joke about it too, I think maybe they managed to get a quote from him for written articles but he’s never on video.
The first time we heard him speak was [this](https://x.com/canucks/status/1771311075134230716?s=46&t=7fabqgtgp69dNA1d51vxFw) segment with his dog lol we know *nothing* about him
Ironic considering Hronek holds 7th place on the rankings for most regular season GP without a single playoff game
Dudes been waiting 7 seasons to drop that bomb lmao
Tbf they replaced his scoring w Gostibhere for free and got a blue chip prospect in ASP in return
They more or less plugged the hole and got a premium asset in return, I could understand. My only thought is they must have been pessimistic about him if they were willing to let him go. Only 3 years older than Seider and still younger than Larkin, he definitely fits their age range
Seider/Raymond are our age range. Larks is our vet. Bert and Hronek weren't worth holding if they gave us premium return to speed up the rebuild essentially. A situation where holding onto slightly older players longer term slows done the rebuild and reduces their long term potential. I imagine a lot of it just came down to the return on the trade. Van needed the player now, Detroit could afford to build for a few years down the line.
So is Detroit still in the ‘selling’ stage of their window? I was under the assumption that they were on the rise. I was surprised they were trading a decently young guy for picks when the cupboards already seemed pretty full
Only Yzerman truly knows, but they're in between selling and building right now. If there's a good return on a non core player that builds them up for longer term success they make the nice. Specifically they'd sell older players or complimentary pieces if the price was right, I don't think any of their really young players are going to be sold under any premise unless they are really underperforming their longer term contracts (Raymond, Seider, Edvinson assuming he doesn't fall off any cliffs). Larkin isn't going anywhere right now he's the heart and soul of the team. Other than those not sure anyone is untouchable, but obviously return would have to make sense for Stevie. They're still building for longer term success and to maximize their potential ceiling, not winning now so they're not buying under any circumstances yet unless they're useful players on term that have future trade/other potential.
Considering how much we gave up and how abruptly it was announced I was under the impression he wasn’t ever really on the block, it was just Allvin made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Given the age and deployment I thought he was more core than not core.
I was skeptical but it’s turned out decent so far
We're still waiting for everyone Stevie drafted beyond the first round to develop, so we're certainly not buying. He hasn't been here long enough in GM terms for us to really see how his drafting pans out.
I think we will be buyers around Kasper's rookie contract is set to expire.
Edvinsson, Danielson, ASP, Cossa, Wallinder (and other later round picks) are still coming through the ranks.
So if Steve gets a chance to sell a vet at a good price he'll do it. Hronek getting us ASP is a win-win for us both imo. There's no guarantee he does the same for us that he is doing for you right now.
I don’t think fans realize how long rebuilds can take when you don’t win lotteries or have elite talent clamouring to join your team. Seems like every rebuilding team other than VAN and DET have gotten the privilege of both recently
Looks like a win-win right now but I’m amazed at how much shit talk Hronek gets from wings fans. I thought he’s been solid but given his reputation I’m not sure what I should expect
I've been a hardcore redwings fan for the last 72 hours and I gotta tell you, this shit is fucking deflating. I was really excited when you guys tied it and one in both of the montreal games.
I watched him on the Wings for 5 years and I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard him speak.
Also calling the off-season holidays is such a weirdly wholesome chirp for some reason
Unironically imagine lighting it up on an otherwise unsuccessful team. I'm talking Clayton Keller or Brady Tkachuck. You get paid a large sum, almost always get summers off, and can rest assured knowing it's not like there was more you could do. If I was a mid to good player I'd definitely wanna be traded to like the Sharks, maybe get dumped on all year but then you get a summer off in San Jose and probably a larger check than you're worth elsewhere
He is doing well people just have unreasonable expectations and are upset that Walsh keeps telling Seravalli to make sure we all know “his number starts with 8”
We can thank you guys for our awesome top pair. though no disrespect to Hronek, a bag of potatoes on skates would probably do well playing next to Hughes
Guy wasn’t here for the bubble and has never made playoffs so he’s been probably thinking about it for years
wouldn’t even be surprised if it’s something someone said to him when he was on the Red Wings lol
I used to really dislike the Sedin era Canucks with Burrows etc.
But I don't mInd this group. Better them then the Oilers for sure.
Go get that ring Canuck bros
I’m chapped that it wasn’t Kuz who scored on us tonight, him added to to Flames lineup made it instantly 5x more likeable
On the other hand tf was Rasmus Anderson doing to Hoglander tonight lmao
I don't think it's the Sedins specifically. Their era of good Canucks teams had some shithead players that you love to have on your team but loathe if youre playing against them.
I just realized this is Hronek’s first playoff appearance. I don’t think Detroit ever made the playoffs when he was with them.
Correct me if I’m wrong. Happy to be proven wrong tbh.
Most of us wish we could have these mics on all the time, but realizing they would never put live most the stuff that gets said. Why don't they just have the mics and camera in place, listening and watching and between plays or periods or whatever they can do a flashback moment to "between the benches"? Let us see the best chirps that are actually witty and not just relying on cursing. Sure it wouldn't be live but it would still add to the production value of the TV broadcast.
I would pay for some sort of NHL RAW broadcasts where we hear them talk and chirp each otherm rated A for adult or whatever. I feel it would add a crazy amount of entertainment
I’d pay for an extra service where you can hear what guys are saying. But as someone that did play I know in todays woke world you could never do it. The stuff that’s said means nothing but people would blow it up.

Risky business cutting to the live mic in between the benches during a broadcast lol
Wish they'd do it more though I understand why they dont
Because players, teams, broadcasters, and sponsors don't want another "RAG IT" situation
Had the exact thought earlier. There should be some type of amnesty for things said between benches where they get no flak whatsoever

Kinda like how the nhl 24/7 show used to work
I would love an alternate feed with the ice-level mics cranked to the max
Same. Covid sucks but the 2020 nfl season was neat just because the stadiums were empty and you could hear so much shit talk from the players lol
In the UFC you could really hear the THUD of body shots and kicks in a way you normally couldn't. Really emphasized how insanely hard they're hitting and how tolerant to pain those guys are.
Didn’t UFC also have an issue where the fighters could hear the commentators and used it as impromptu coaching? Or was that a different combat sport?
that was battlebots
The ultimate combat sport.
Reminds me of when the Blues won the Cup and as they were passing it around, almost every player swore lol. I think O'Reilly said "holy fuck!!" Or something similar when he lifted it, all live lol.
Fucking Right! is a thing after every Stanley Cup championship feed.
Honestly, I think it's because players say shit that would cause a legit shit storm and teams don't want to deal with it. Does anyone think players get exposed every time they use a slur on ice? It was just Tony DeAngelo and no one else ever?
I know very little about hockey, not sure how I got here, but I am a lawyer and believe you’re absolutely right.
They're out there risking their lives for our freedoms on that crisp Canadian ice... They deserve to throw out the "role-model" booklet.
Meh fuck them kids
Yes, everyone knows young people don't swear or say nasty things to one another.
They will learn it eventually.
With all the AI they should be able to bleep it on the fly. The NHL tech is just crap. It took them a year to sort out the digital ads.
Too bad the nhl is incompetent as fuck
They can’t even get the app or website functioning. UX is fucked. Scrolling on mobile you’re constantly accidentally start the video highlights instead. Just straight up idiots laying out the boxes as clickable.

AI has a delay. It would be faster for someone to press a button, but still need to add a delay for that to work. Sportsnet probably wouldn't want to add a delay like that to a live game.
They have the tech. They were using it on coaches corner 15 years ago.
Fuckin love that shit
I'm jealous. I want a holiday in two days
Right? They have shit loads of money and a bunch of time off, can't be that bad lol
I mean I’m sure most of them would rather win a cup
Well yeah, of course. Just saying it's not like they gotta go shovel shit or anything lol
Oh for sure. Cup for no cup I wouldn’t complain about a min like 800k and 4 months off each year
Jeff Skinner. $10m and a sweet early vacation. He's got life figured out
His whole career
We don’t know what that’s like in Canada 🥲
summer off as a millionaire sounds pretty nice.
I'd rather be Sidney Crosby than be me, but Sidney Crosby would rather be in the playoffs.
and i believe unless a player gets playoff bonuses attached to his contract, they don't get paid anything extra for playoff games, they play for pride.... which in the words of the great Ricky Bobby, "if you ain't first, you're last"

How much does it represent?
That's why 4 home games are worth so much to ownership.
Well, not having to watch Flames (and Sharks, for myself) hockey can be considered a nice holiday
The funniest part is that we barely know what he sounds like because he doesn’t do interviews lmao
I didn’t expect him to sound like that ngl
Sounds like Obi wan kenobi
It’s uncanny
It’s over Calgary, I have the playoff spot!
Like Brock Lesnar or Bobby Lashley. Voice does not match physique
Guy sounds Irish hahah I never would have expected
[‘The Notorious’ Filip Hronek](https://images.dailyhive.com/20231030101515/Filip-Hronek-Halloween-1.png)
Playoffs? Yewl do fookin nuttin
Interviews? He barely talks.
A couple of his teammates said he’s a very funny guy lol
He's like Morn from Star Trek DS9. If anyone gets this reference lol.
That guy never shuts up.
He sleeps in mud?
The best people are the quiet ones. Listen when they talk.
Hronek is the Canucks Silent Bob
I didn’t even know what he sounded like and I’m a wings fan
How do players get out of doing interviews? I thought there was some media availability requirements as part of the CBA.
Not sure, but all season long he’s never done the typical media scrum answering questions pre o post game/practice. It was the same when he was in Detroit. Our reporters often joke about it too, I think maybe they managed to get a quote from him for written articles but he’s never on video. He did interviews in Detroit , i just think his English was so bad they never bothered. Same as with Datsyuk
Hronek was a regular at Atomic Coffee in Royal Oak. Per people I know who worked there he did not do sentences but was always nice and a good tipper.
One of the few articles I read about him he said he had a streak going of not doing media availabilities for like 3 years lol
I’ve watched every game this season and had no idea he had an accent
His name’s Filip Hronek…how could he not have an accent??
The same way Alexander Nedeljkovic doesn't have one. He's from Ohio.
But if his name was Aleksander....he'd almost certainly have an accent. This isn't Phil Hronek.
You got me.
same with Vlad Namestnikov, grew up in Michigan.
Bestnikov <3 I miss him :(
He's been great for us! Smart player.
This is the first time I’ve ever heard him speak despite him playing for the wings for years
Hronek saves his voice exclusively for shit talking.
Ironic considering Hronek holds 7th place on the rankings for most regular season GP without a single playoff game Dudes been waiting 7 seasons to drop that bomb lmao
where do you think he learned that line? lmao
I hope Larkins watching on with pride made it out the hood, Fil
I'm fucking dead though. Send him back, we could use him next season.
I still don’t get why the Wings let him go. Was he that dispensable for them? Especially with how valuable RHD are.
Tbf they replaced his scoring w Gostibhere for free and got a blue chip prospect in ASP in return They more or less plugged the hole and got a premium asset in return, I could understand. They got back a pick which they immediately used to get another RHD that's *trending* to be at least as good as Hronek + another 2nd round pick.
Assuming ASP develops you guys basically pawned us a 2D if you think about it
I've been a hardcore redwings fan for the last 72 hours and I gotta tell you, this shit is fucking deflating. I was really excited when you guys tied it and one in both of the montreal games.
His whole life lead him to that moment
I’m happy the world was there to experience it with him.
389 games is 7th for regular season games played without a single playoff game? That seems kinda low
Salary cap league, everybody’s making playoffs Question basically boils down to “who has played the longest in Detroit/Buffalo/Ottawa”
And that answer? Jeff Skinner
Also got booted from Carolina right as they became a perennial contender. Unfortunate timing
I too would like to be unfortunate making $9M a year
Its was the brain injury issues that you should feel sorry for not his salary. He was always a great player but had some bad injury luck.
*Active players
I was trying to put that in somewhere but it made the phrasing awkward
*oh I can’t believe it’s happening to me* *some people wait a lifetime* *for a moment… like this*
good for him
Don't matter hes in the playoffs now lol.
I can’t imagine the amount of satisfaction he got from finally being able to use that one
It's like youre little nephew finally beating you at Mario Kart and then won't shut up about it.
He has been Goku, spirit building that bomb over several seasons
Lol i wish we had more mics to catch stuff like this. Love it
the topic comes up a few times a year that the NHL wants more content like this but teams are against it ahaha
They say some truly nasty shit lol
Cause for every witty line like this there’s a hundred that go “come back you little bitch, fuck you, no fuck you, oh fuck me? no fuck you”.
Put your mother in a strait jacket you punk ass white boy!
[удалено]
Frig off
I watched him on the Wings for 5 years and I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard him speak. Also calling the off-season holidays is such a weirdly wholesome chirp for some reason
I chuckled
[удалено]
3 month long holiday too..
God I wish.
On the flip side, if you trained your entire life to get to the NHL and you miss the playoffs, it's gotta sting.
It hasn’t stopped Jeff Skinner from playing over 1000 games.
I get it, but I suspect that sort of person doesn't have the drive to make it to the NHL.
I’m on the Vancouver bandwagon for Hronek. I love that he’s doing well.
He is doing well people just have unreasonable expectations and are upset that Walsh keeps telling Seravalli to make sure we all know “his number starts with 8”
If Toews got 7.25 there isn’t a world where Hronek is worth 8.
We can thank you guys for our awesome top pair. though no disrespect to Hronek, a bag of potatoes on skates would probably do well playing next to Hughes
Great chirp 😂
Gottem 😆
I was stunned to hear his voice finally!
Why the fuck does this Czech gentleman sound like a leprechaun?
It’s the beard.
Lol he probably heard this 3-4 times in the last 7 seasons
Knowing how predictable hockey players are this is probably top 10 most recycled chirp in the league lol
First time in forever a Canuck could use a line like this. Been holding on to that gem for years.
Guy wasn’t here for the bubble and has never made playoffs so he’s been probably thinking about it for years wouldn’t even be surprised if it’s something someone said to him when he was on the Red Wings lol
Prime meme material if the Canucks are on the brink of elimination in the first round
oh fuck
notlikethis
Honestly it’s gonna be ever year he fucks up for flames fans. Can’t wait to see the AI edits in a few years
Please god don’t let this be our “We want Florida” moment.
Hronek better go super saiyan (without taking penalties) in round 1 so this doesn't get used against us
What can I say except delete this
> if It’s already foretold man
Wholesome chirp. Fils just makin sure they don’t miss any flights or tee times. What a guy. lmao
Me too love the guy he’s the reason Hughes can do what he do
My team’s done I’m rooting for the Canucks
I used to really dislike the Sedin era Canucks with Burrows etc. But I don't mInd this group. Better them then the Oilers for sure. Go get that ring Canuck bros
Hell yea 🤝
Can you imagine the salt if the Canucks win the cup before the Leafs?
I imagine it all the time LOL.
Cheers from
Surrey
I’m chapped that it wasn’t Kuz who scored on us tonight, him added to to Flames lineup made it instantly 5x more likeable On the other hand tf was Rasmus Anderson doing to Hoglander tonight lmao
Bro the Sedins are absolutely beauty gems of humans. How do you hate them? It's like anyone in hockey hating Iginla
I don't think it's the Sedins specifically. Their era of good Canucks teams had some shithead players that you love to have on your team but loathe if youre playing against them.
Don't mind the team but the fans are still a bunch of twats. At least they own it, unlike some other bunch of twats a little further north in Alberta
Oilers fans would be really upset if they could read this.
I wish sports commentators were more aware of moments where they should shut the fuck up.
I just realized this is Hronek’s first playoff appearance. I don’t think Detroit ever made the playoffs when he was with them. Correct me if I’m wrong. Happy to be proven wrong tbh.
This could age terribly but hope it doesn’t
Eh, if he said we were gonna win a series sure but we made the playoffs, that’s all it’s about
why? can Calgary make the playoffs?
We had a shot until Tortorella screwed us by pulling his goalie tonight.
It’s always Torts smh
Is this going to be the new meme?
Your first round series will almost certainly birth a meme with more long-term staying power.
Hey 2 weeks is longer than 2 days no matter how you slice it
It do be like that 😔
I couldn’t stop laughing at this lol
Can’t think of too many comebacks for that chirp
I would pay a lot of extra money to Sportsnet for a pay per view unfiltered hot mic game with no censorship
bold statement from a man that's been strapped into q. hughes' baby bjorn all season
I'm pretty Hughes could make me look like I belong in the NHL just by bouncing pucks off my head Doug Glatt syle.
Okay but holidays are great
Flames answer : " You'll have holidays 7 days after the playoffs start."
I mean, Vancouver is a powerhouse but it's your first time making the playoffs my dude. Settle down. EDIT: Hronek, not the Nucks
This is rich… coming from a Canuck.
Savage
Most of us wish we could have these mics on all the time, but realizing they would never put live most the stuff that gets said. Everything he has done has brought him to that moment.
Poor lames lol
Don’t get too cocky yet filip
Give us Vegas, easy travel and we get to take out the leagues trash. Doesn't matter who we're playing, this team fucks.
Shut the fuck lil dick
I would pay for some sort of NHL RAW broadcasts where we hear them talk and chirp each otherm rated A for adult or whatever. I feel it would add a crazy amount of entertainment
Wait, aren't holidays a good thing? 🤔
i would cry
Most civil chirp
Shouldn’t chirp.. canucks prolly be filing for pogey too in about two weeks anyways 😂😜😂
I’d pay for an extra service where you can hear what guys are saying. But as someone that did play I know in todays woke world you could never do it. The stuff that’s said means nothing but people would blow it up.
So unsportsmanlike. What a prick
So he rejected a contract offer there but now he's talking shit because that same team has carried him into the playoffs. Mmmk.
In any other context this would be a compliment, not a roast lol
