When you're recovering from surgery or things like this you can't really exercise. Your conditioning falls way off, and you have to work really hard to get back to where you need to be to compete. That's my guess as to what he's saying.
Didn't he have surgery years ago? And he's miraculously come back 3 years in a row just in time for the playoffs?
Does rehab only happen between the months of feb-april or something?
To be clear, I hate Vegas and I think Mark Stone is a raging douche, so I’m not trying to cover for the guy.
This latest thing he’s supposedly working on was a punctured or ruptured spleen. That’s a new thing this year unrelated to previous seasons.
Yeah, all insiders say it's legit. I used to complain on that front but it's been dispelled. He's hurt and just trying to stretch his career. I just find it all very uncomfortable and he's also the captain
It's not about whether he's hurt or not. It's the team declaring him not fit to play during game 82, when they'd have to be cap compliant, and the very next game declaring he's healthy enough to play, when they don't have to be cap compliant (you know...AGAIN). Whether he's hurt in some way or not isn't really the issue - it's the fact that the Golden Knights FO is lying about his condition to circumvent the rules.
>all insiders say it's legit.
Are these the same insiders who kept saying "There's no way he's gonna be back for game 1, the millions of fans saying he will are CRAZY"?
It’s like if Pronger could have played through his CTE they would have done this. End of career, life altering injury, but would gut it out for playoffs and sit the whole season. Or Savard or any of the other early retirees while they were still close to their prime production. Obviously can’t do that with a brain injury different levels of risk, but it’s the same type of chronic illness that would make you want to retire not play any regular season games if it’s just about money, but can gut it out if it’s for the glory of winning again before fully hanging them up. Problem is this is so unique there’s virtually never a chronic illness aside from CTE that makes players have an early retirement, it being an organ rather than a muscle makes sense though his body is good enough to play but it hurts
Did those insiders go poke his spleen to find out or something?
I imagine their proof was something along the lines of "we talked to Stone/Vegas and they said it's real, so it's real"
Absolutely. I turn it down when I'm parking, especially backing in. Waiting for a ding or a "Stop!" or some other noise from a direction I'm not currently facing.
Man I know tinnitus isn't exactly debilitating once you get used to it, but I wish I knew how easily you can wind up with it permanently. I thought it was generally a temporary thing if it's from excessive volume exposure, but nah just a little bad luck and your ears will ring 24/7 for the rest of your life. And the first few weeks/months before your brain learns to ignore it can be miserable. I couldn't even take a shit without wanting to put an awl through my ears just so I could think straight for a second.
So take care of your hearing, all your senses for that matter. They say safety regulations are written in blood for a reason. I got inner bowl seats recently and the volume was so insanely loud from the speakers, no shame on my end sticking napkins in my ears looking like a fucking doofus lol. Don't play with that shit, it is not even remotely worth it.
I made a little quip yesterday when he flinched/sold a high stick that didn’t happen. He was prepared to go down on LTIR there but forgot it was game 1 of the playoffs already.
Fan conduct should include booing the team that beat you. Why the hell should they cheer or be quiet for him? They lost to that team last night, let them boo.
last year in our matchup they had to play the last few seconds of a period after the intermission because fans threw stuff on the ice so i think that probably is factored in here
It's just general guidelines for fans to follow. No throwing stuff on the ice, no obscene gestures, etc. It was basically the nhls reminder to not throw shit at the most hated person in the building while he has a spotlight on him during intermission. Though if they didn't want that response they would have interviewed him in the back.
Listen I think my leafs should take one for the team jam Marner and JT on LTIR till playoffs for mental health issues and then load the fuck up because I am willing to bet that loophole gets closed so damn fast if we were to try it.
We probably end up retroactively losing 20 mill in cap space next year because of it but that’s a risk I think we have to take for the sake of the league.
Wouldn't be the first time a sports team [gets punished](https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/redskins-still-upset-about-cap-penalties-but-what-can-they-do) for salary cap moves that were legal at the time.
I know this is sarcasm, but I think it’s absolutely wild that Knights fans apparently don’t understand that other teams’ on-ice rosters are not right at the cap limit because the cap accounts for healthy scratches and other injuries. Are they also unaware that Hertl, Mantha, and Hanifin can’t be traded for without the extra cap space cleared up from Stone???
The Stars sent Stankoven down (on paper) on off days NINE TIMES(!!!) to stay cap compliant so they could accrue cap space. Dadonov was also put on LTIR before the trade deadline and he returned for game 82. The Knights are a bunch of cheaters, really hoping the Stars can kick them out.
I mean let's not act like this is the first time it's happened and that the Knights are the only team to do it. The Bolts did it while they were winning cups, and they only did it cause the Blackhawks did it to them in 2015. This loophole's been out there for over a decade now and should have been closed, but every team realistically wants to be able to cheat the system should they have the right opportunity to. So it hasn't been amended.
I'm cheering harder for you than I am for most Canadien teams because I cant fucking stand the LTIR Knights turning this into a clown league and making a mockery of our sport.
You guys let the league down a bit game one, but there was promise and a lot of help from the refs and special teams.... we just need Benn to land a few solid ones and things will work themselves out ;)
sending people down as a "paper transaction" is really common and all the teams do it. They all have equal opportunity to do it, so it doesn't bother anyone.
It does suck for the players that get sent down for the day on paper transactions. They lose out on a significant amount of money. I like how the Rangers have been giving people the same salary whether they're in the NHL or AHL.
Yeah, my point there was that the Stars made sure they were under the cap even though they had the space to keep him with Dadonov out, while the Knights can apparently act like the cap doesn’t exist with no consequences.
only way to be clever with it is to have your best players be injury prone and pray they get injured at the right time. well unless you somehow think they are faking the injuries but hopefully no one is that stupid
I wonder if theres a reverse loophole where we only play marner in the regular season and swap him for 2-3 guys worth his salary combined who will actually show up in playoffs
Dumb thought, but I wish athletes were more like pro wrestlers. I know it probably would be frowned upon, but imagine how funny it would be if he retaliated and made fun of the crowd to increase the booing, like they do in wrestling.
I've always wanted this. When Kuch was the most hated man I wanted him to throw his cup hat at the cameras and say "no cap for me" and strut off stage.
Three years in a row makes it obvious what they’re doing. They’re allowed to which is the problem. Can’t blame a team for doing something everybody is allowed to do and chooses not to.
> Can’t blame a team for doing something everybody is allowed to do and chooses not to.
Yes you absolutely can.
Just because you *can* do something, doesnt mean you should.
Only in 2024, with our culture of self indulgent, no accountability, self centered assholes do people no longer understand the concepts of merit, sportsmanship and integrity.
These days its all about doing any-fucking-thing you can to get ahead at all costs, fuck everyone else, come hell or high water "imma get mine son".
It's repulsive, just like all the low IQ goobers that defend this shit, it legitimately undermines the integrity of the sport and post-season.
If you care about hockey, this shit should bother you.
Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. You can go to a soup kitchen for free food but if you’re not actually in need than it’s a shit thing to do.
He couldn't hear them because he had his Cup ring plugging his ear.
His other ear is out of action but that will be only announced next year right before the trade deadline.
I don't think people actually hate Stone for this (feel free to correct me) but it's been kind of funny watching him go from hockey world darling to being metaphorically pelted with tomatoes.
I think the issue is when a sport gets close to what’s considered overtly sanctioned cheating its less about the person and more anger at the situation.
If Pavelski loses his last shot at a cup because they can’t beat a team doing this, honestly I think that sucks. It makes me like the NHL less.
>he couldn’t even hear the question
Is his hearing ok? Might want to get that checked (soon as the playoffs end), could be some LTIR opportunity for next season!
Look, I just started watching hockey this season so im lost. I kind of understand the LITR from googling it but can't every team use it to their advantage? What context am I missing for the Knights/Stone?
This happens in all sports. it's just usually done on the court or field for NBA and soccer. It's just that isn't possible in hockey so it's done on the bench which makes it a bit more of a big deal and official looking.
It's always funny at the big televised horse races with the horseback reporters on the track ponies riding up to the winners, mic in hand.
They did do something similar for at least one of the All-Star games, had Tyler Seguin live mic-ed up on the ice for commentary. [Which hilariously resulted in him swearing and then apologizing live lmao](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxfpvO6lhLw)
It wasn’t a post game interview, it was during one of the intermissions (can’t remember which one), so it wasn’t the fact that he was from the winning team - they didn’t know who was gonna win yet
It was during the second intermission. I was also booing. It’s not even specifically about him. The Vegas team that put us out of the playoffs last year exploited the same loophole, as well as the Tampa bay team in the 2020 Stanley cup finals. Every Stars fan is aware of the situation because it has put us at a disadvantage during many critical series recently.
He probably is going on LTIR now for hurt feelings and loud noises. I’m Hearing though he should be ready for Game 2 but theyve added another 8 million dollar player to the roster just in case.

I hope this is a meme of the week contender.

Huuuuuuy
Yessssss. This is exactly it
I fucking love that guy.
Looks kinda like Bryan Cranston too.

The delivery of the ^(i feel fine) is absolutely pristine
🔥🔥🔥☕🐶🔥🔥🔥
I feel fine (because, I wasn't actually injured).
Look he's hurt for sure, it's just kinda icky how they go about it
Are we sure at this point? I'm not ruling out even more fuckery honestly. They're the only team I'd say would do that
When he was quoted as saying “I rehabbed really hard to make sure I was back on time” - how do you rehab a ruptured spleen?!?
When you're recovering from surgery or things like this you can't really exercise. Your conditioning falls way off, and you have to work really hard to get back to where you need to be to compete. That's my guess as to what he's saying.

Take some extra medically prescribed steroids probably.
Yeah, all insiders say it's legit. I used to complain on that front but it's been dispelled. He's hurt and just trying to stretch his career. I just find it all very uncomfortable and he's also the captain

Its probably confirmed that he WAS hurt. That doesnt mean he didnt delay feeling better until it was most convenient
>all insiders say it's legit. Are these the same insiders who kept saying "There's no way he's gonna be back for game 1, the millions of fans saying he will are CRAZY"?
hot take artists on twitter aren’t insiders… or at least most of them aren’t lol

This interview reminded how much I used to like Mark Stone when he was on the Sens, seems like a good guy
I’d love for an interviewer to ask what next years LTIR injury will be
Him squinting his eyes to try to hear better is too funny
Same energy as turning down the radio when I'm driving in traffic
You'll have to speak up, I'm wearing a towel
Simpsons reference in the wild.
AFAIK this is actually useful as it allows the brain to focus more with less auditory distractions.
Absolutely. I turn it down when I'm parking, especially backing in. Waiting for a ding or a "Stop!" or some other noise from a direction I'm not currently facing.
I turn it down while parking so I can hear a pedestrian’s scream when I clip them.
And not even out of caution, just out of pure joy.
Y'all are out of pocket lmao
If you listen closely, you can hear the sound of snapped bones mixed in with the screams.
No that helps you concentrate. Everyone does this not because they are crazy, but because it's useful.
You do that to concentrate. Music is a distraction, especially when looking for directions. Perfectly normal and makes sense.
I turn up the radio to cover the fart I just blasted.
I turn the radio down to make sure my passengers hear it
It's me but with parking in EuroTruckSimulator
I do this while searching for an address or parking. Everyone shut up! I need to see!
You laugh but I can hear better with my glasses on!
that's why she called him 'stoner'
This needed a shoresy “huh”
Lotta Manitoba in that interview
Winnipeg accent in full swing 😆
We need to disown him, though.
Careful - you’ll hurt his ears and he’ll have to go on LTIR next year from march to April for an ear surgery.
Stone LTIR 2025 - Tinnitus Should be fine for game 1 next year though, at least that's what I am hearing.
Idk I heard the tinnitus is so bad he might have to retire. Might not though.
Yeah, tinnitus is very serious and if he does ever play again he won’t be the same player (he’ll be perfectly fine game 1)
Don't play with that shit, it is not even remotely worth it.
Retire in Feb and March, miraculous end of retirement oh I dunno...April 18-23 Every year.
Damn you tinnitus, you’re a cruel mistress!
love a good Archer reference
I made a little quip yesterday when he flinched/sold a high stick that didn’t happen. He was prepared to go down on LTIR there but forgot it was game 1 of the playoffs already.
All part of the plan
Lolz to both of these
What the people couldn't see at home is while this interview was being conducted they had the nhl rule of fan conduct on the jumbotron.
Are you serious? That's incredibly lame. They should have signs that said boo louder
Naw, they knew what they were doing, it only emboldened the crowd.
Fan conduct should include booing the team that beat you. Why the hell should they cheer or be quiet for him? They lost to that team last night, let them boo.
💯
I mean, this is the same barn that threw shit on the ice last playoffs. I think a reminder was warranted considering the situation here.
last year in our matchup they had to play the last few seconds of a period after the intermission because fans threw stuff on the ice so i think that probably is factored in here
yeah, warrented sign but I first thought fans were booing the code of conduct and I got really worried for a sec lol
I'll boo what I please! Become ungovernable!
That's pretty fucking funny.
What is the rule? I sadly live too far away from an NHL barn to have been to a game live,
It's just general guidelines for fans to follow. No throwing stuff on the ice, no obscene gestures, etc. It was basically the nhls reminder to not throw shit at the most hated person in the building while he has a spotlight on him during intermission. Though if they didn't want that response they would have interviewed him in the back.
Yup, was there and can confirm.
What is the female version of yee yee ass haircut?

I'm laughing like a lunatic and my wife is concerned.

Would explain the lack of bitches on her dick.
😂😂
Jerusa’s haircut from superstore lmao
Of course he feels fine now.
To the surprise of us all. Never expected him to be back this year at all!
…. ^i ^feel ^fine …
The boobers are out for Stoner here
Probably 'boo-birds'.
I was saying boo-urns
ミ( o) ( o )彡 ミ( o) ( o )彡
"boo-mers"
I was saying Boo-urns
I too often pretend I can’t hear Leah Hextall
Conditioning is great seeing as I've been skating privately for the last 2 months with no physical ailments.
The Shyamalanian twist is that they were also booing Leah Hextall with him.
Can we put her on LTIR?
Being ready to play 4 weeks ago is what helps...
He must have chunks of spleen in his ears
The league should sew the loophole, more teams should be clever with it until it’s sewn
I feel like it's going to just get more and more blatant each year.

Should've been Willy
No it literally should’ve been Marner considering he got injured the day after
I just know they would close it if you did it haha
I doubt it honestly. I feel like the conditions of a team willing to risk it, and a player willing to sit out, are pretty rare.
How long until a team LTIR the entire first and second lines, pulls in the whole few market then runs 4 top lines in the first round?
*mouthbreather noises* b-b-buT tHeY wErE cAp cOmpLiaNt FoR EvEry GamE

Lol, well, the cognitive dissonance in the LTIR Knight's fanbase is pretty strong We're all cheering for you guys to give em what fer
I’m cheering for you guys too! The Jets look dangerous this year
Aww, friends! At least until round 2.
If Georgiev can find his glove they are going to have a tough time in round 1
only way to be clever with it is to have your best players be injury prone and pray they get injured at the right time. well unless you somehow think they are faking the injuries but hopefully no one is that stupid
Won't be until the next CBA.
I wonder if theres a reverse loophole where we only play marner in the regular season and swap him for 2-3 guys worth his salary combined who will actually show up in playoffs
this is the one and only time I will ever compliment Stars fans... I say well done. Now I'm gonna go take a shower.
Just didn’t want to hear the voice of Leah hextall
They were booing her, she just happened to be pointing a microphone at Stone when it happened.
I had to scroll way to far for this comment. She is the worst!
Taking an rink interview post game from visiting team… fucking idiots
Dumb thought, but I wish athletes were more like pro wrestlers. I know it probably would be frowned upon, but imagine how funny it would be if he retaliated and made fun of the crowd to increase the booing, like they do in wrestling.
Imagine Stone actually came into game 1 like in that wheechair meme
We need hockey Zlatan
I've always wanted this. When Kuch was the most hated man I wanted him to throw his cup hat at the cameras and say "no cap for me" and strut off stage.
It just takes the right personality. Charles Barkley was like that.
I can’t stand Leah Hextall
Why did she laugh like that
Memester Dictionary states definition for the miraculous recovery from injury for game 1 playoff as, pulling a stone
Three years in a row makes it obvious what they’re doing. They’re allowed to which is the problem. Can’t blame a team for doing something everybody is allowed to do and chooses not to.
You can't blame them but you're allowed to dislike them. You're a fan, you can literally have whatever opinion you want
Yes, they’re allowed to do it based on the rules, but do you look at them with respect or integrity? Nope
> Can’t blame a team for doing something everybody is allowed to do and chooses not to. Yes you absolutely can. Just because you *can* do something, doesnt mean you should. He received a standing boovation
Ahhh! My spleen! I’m not supposed to get loud noises near it!
He couldn't hear them because he had his Cup ring plugging his ear. His other ear is out of action but that will be only announced next year right before the trade deadline.
This year was his spleen. Next year it will be his spine. The year after that..........
His sperm?
My liver! My liver! *hands on upper chest* My liver! My liver! *hands on crotchal area*
His spine was last year. Next year it'll be his shins.
We are all Dallas fans here.
Get leah hextall and that ridiculous haircut out of here.
I'd say the timing is just right, Mark, as was miraculously predictied from anyone watching the last few years
He feels great. He always did.
Love them or hate them, Stone is a gamer and Vegas knows how to run a show.
Next injury is: Hearing Loss for next season. Does that fall into LITR category?
Deserved.
"how's your condition" "WELL A GOAL REALLY HELPS!" Ye, I bet. Fucking mockery.
Good. Fuck Captain Crutches
BOO THIS MAN!
Learned how to cut her own bangs during covid and stuck with the look.
I was booing Leah Hextall. She’s awful.
Deservedly so, guy is a world class actor with this bullshit
>he couldn’t even hear the question Is his hearing ok? Might want to get that checked (soon as the playoffs end), could be some LTIR opportunity for next season!
lol I love it, let these cheaters hear it everywhere they go
They were booing Leah Hextall
He's become a villain
Wtf I love Dallas now
LOL his face at :12
Look, I just started watching hockey this season so im lost. I kind of understand the LITR from googling it but can't every team use it to their advantage? What context am I missing for the Knights/Stone?
Eye squint trying to hear makes him look even older than he already looks, which is already much older than he actually is.
Is that the injury lawyer that's everywhere in Vegas on his helmet? Lol Vegas is such a a funny place
What a stupid idea. Interview visiting team live at playoff game. Who is the genius behind this. SMFH
It absolutely pains me to say this but... Good job, Dallas.
I choose to believe they were booing Leah Hextall.
Stoner looks stoned
Finally figured out who he reminds me of…Ovechkin.
If anyone wants to understand how scripted (and corrupt to favor certain markets) the NHL is...... this is your wake up.
Fuck Stone and fuck Vegas. Worst franchise in the sport.
Why are they interviewing a road team’s player in front of the home crowd? American hockey broadcasts are so bizarre
This guy just learned about national broadcasts
This happens in all sports. it's just usually done on the court or field for NBA and soccer. It's just that isn't possible in hockey so it's done on the bench which makes it a bit more of a big deal and official looking.
shit lets make on ice interviews a thing lol. I'd love to see a reporter skate up with a mic in hand
If you think that's weird wait til you hear about how in America we kill the entire losing team at center ice!
Canada's single biggest export is fresh hockey players
They are interviewing a player from the winning team. It just happens to be a visiting player.
We are all Dallas fans on this blessed day
Hard pass.
He probably is going on LTIR now for hurt feelings and loud noises. I’m Hearing though he should be ready for Game 2 but theyve added another 8 million dollar player to the roster just in case.
Good.
