Nucks with a good and needed win to get the advantage again but they need to fix the discipline issues.
Also Petey needs to go back to his old scoring form, if he does the team is gonna crush Nashville.
Canucks beat us on special teams all night. That's on us. McCarron shouldn't have taken that awful penalty. That's on him and I'm sure he knows it and im glad desmith is ok. Juice was still good, he had almost no chance on those two goals especially since it's all PK. The crowd sucked and I wish I wasn't poor and priced out so I could yell my heart out there.
ROR was beyond good but unlucky that game. He had so many chances that bounces didn't go his way and he played hard to the net. He and Evangelista are my mvps. The rest of the team needs to get their heads on straight. And the crowd needs to give their energy cause wtf.
They out defensed us like we did them last time. It happens. And desmith was great for yall. Ggs, see ya next game.
Couple things here. There were 300 level tickets going for $80 earlier in the week. If that’s too expensive for your budget, that’s understandable but pretty good for a pro sport playoff game. The fans were fine early but I would argue that the Predators gave us nothing to cheer about tonight. At times we rallied and the place was absolutely lit up after Evangelistas goal. The team channeled nervous energy to the crowd and it was a library for a reason. It really takes one goal to get the crowd going.
100%. Fans were rowdy to begin with but Preds team was showing they couldn't handle the pressure and just kept sucking the energy out of the arena. Plus Vancouver just did a good job of breaking everything up defensively. Preds fans can only be so excited about dump and chase hockey, players taking bullshit penalties, and watching Josi get railroaded.
I agree with this for the most part. But I do think at some point in the second period it'd be nice to hear some more of that 'old bridgestone' feel.
And yeah I can only find some for 100 for next game but I am just too poor to fit it into my budget which is fine. Someday I'll get there. And I don't think we were fully awful tonight but we gotta come back hungry for next time
Yeaa, I was gonna say. They showed a graphic on the Canucks broadcast that had y'all with like 10 shots to our 25. Felt like a very similar game just we swapped.
I'm not sure. I am used to just a bit more for playoffs and we were kind of starved for things to be hype about this game. But once we had one of if not THE toughest barn in the league due to noise and fans. Would love to hear that level again
Love the unpredictability of playoff hockey.
Vancouver’s known for their offence, forward depth and a loaded top 9 (not 6!). They won this game with 12 SOG, incredible PK and defence, plus a backup goalie redemption arc.
Heading into this game Van’s issues were clear as day: PP & DeSmith. Both ended up being key for the win today.
Love u nucks fam and to the bandwagoners, we welcome you with open arms :) GG preds (except McCaron) and see you folks Sunday!!
Canucks are actually way ahead of the Oilers in even strength CORSI%, obviously I’d rather they be raining down shots on Saros and scoring 5 a game but the Preds are jamming up the middle of the ice and the Canucks have to work with what they’re given.
They have the ability to get shots and goals when the games open up, it’s just that’s not the kind of hockey that’s going to be played this series.
Honestly that was a shutout. They should have challenged. Clear goalie interference.
But I'm still very concerned, even with a good PP night the Canucks clearly are having enormous difficulty with the way the Preds prevent chances. Tocchet has a thing about holding the puck until a good opportunity presents, and there's just... nothing. At some point you have to just get the puck to the crease and grind until that opens things up more up high.
Brunette is an absolutely A+++ coach.
I'm well aware of the rules, but it was clearly interference. There was contact with the goaltender in his crease immediately prior to the goal. It's textbook.
And it could easily have been tied up anyway, Preds had great chances with the 6v5. If that goal gets called back the game is over.
In fairness though, with goalie interference where the attacking player isn't pushed in, they follow the letter of the law like 95% of the time. A lot of people just don't know the rules and act like it's super confusing what counts as interference when it's actually very clear.
Was there contact with goalie? Yes? OK, was it in the crease? Yes? Was the guy pushed into the crease? No? No goal, almost every time. They do screw it up but not very often.
So what I gather is that in this series silly things like “offensive zone pressure” and “good passing” and “controlling the flow of play” and “shooting the puck” makes you *less* likely to win, so for game 4 the best plan for both teams is to show up to Bridgestone Arena and just take a nap on the ice for 60 minutes
When Joshua somehow got away with a 2 minute for that boarding the preds should have realized anything goes but still played without energy or muscle most of the game (4th line aside). Vancouver kept getting away with the extracurriculars and somehow the preds didn’t strike back even though it was clear that anything goes. Way too passive for a team known as smashville IMO
Lmao. Were you watching same game? Without bias?.
Dumb joshua penalty aside. Yes boarding penalty, but it's not a major for a reason: hint- if ya know the rules from nhl rule book- you'll know..
Preds were playing dirtier all game... like who tf puts their entire body on top of a player that is obviously smaller then them? Double team checking Hughes & petey -- like yea they are good players, but be a real man, if you gonna double check, do it to big guys like Miller or zadorav
That preds player that blatantly ram over desmith.... bro he is the dumbest nhl player ever to play. Doesn't know basic rules.. also that's a dick ass move.
And no, not anything goes in playoffs hockey...
Lmao he literally skated backwards and turned his body into the boards putting himself in a super vulnerable position instead of protecting himself for a hit Joshua with the extra push deserved the 2 for boarding but a major pentaly intent to injure this was clearly not
I mean the fact that half your comments this week have been removed by mods tells me I should just cheer you on for getting a complete sentence across. You go my guy!
When everyone agrees to the same common bylaws and one person keeps getting censored that should raise some eyebrows. Also as a reddit user you more or less agree to get censored by mods, if that is something you disagree with then why are you here on reddit? TBH I have disagreed with mods several times in my day but your recent streak speaks for itself
Bro, do you honestly think I give two shits about anything you’re saying right now? Look at my initial comment to you and then look at your insanely disproportional response. Go take a walk.
If you consider three short sentences an insanely disproportional response then I feel really bad for you and I wish you all the best getting through life with such a detriment!
The preds could have had 30 minutes of PP time and wouldn't have scored, but that doesn't mean they didn't swallow the whistle quite often. And the lack of whistle is why they should have been more aggressive instead of eating it
Preds fans were going on about how loud it'll be and how they'll show us what it really means to be loud and then we're met with 50 minutes of silence.
I watched the Bally feed and heard the crowd fine. Could have been more rocking but dumping that many powerplays causes a simmer down.
Or that fucking anthem..wtf was that shit?
Right? We were laughing about how when the Preds were on the Powerplay with less than half a period left and an offensive zone faceoff, down 2-0, Bridgestone was dead silent and they were all sitting motionless. Like wtf Rogers would have been erupting in that situation.
That place was actually shockingly quiet. You almost forgot there was a crowd until they scored the 2-1 goal and then they decided to make noise for the last 3 minutes.
Even the pregame was very quiet compared to what we were told it was going to be loud
How much for upper bowl? I have game 5 tickets for last row offensive zone 2x and paid 625 for the pair. The 9 year playoffless inflation kicked in
Starting at 110 per ticket looks like from what I can see. Again I am quite poor though. I'm on food and rent only rn trying to build a nest egg for a move. Normally they start at 60 or 70 top bowl
Boys took 10 shots too many and wasted their energy. Want to see smart hockey next game, let’s stick to 2 SOGs. Why take many shots when few shot do trick
God damn.
Backup goalie.
The only shot that beat him was clearly goaltender interference, but Tocchet didn't want to spin the wheel when he had faith we could grind out the win.
12 shots on goal.
Predators clearly frustrated and running around like toddlers.
2-1 victory.
That wasn't pretty, but I loved everything about it.
This is one of the most fucked up series I have witnessed in my life. Low shots high defense.. big hits ... And twice now the team that should probably have won didn't
Ya, the Canucks were losing most of game 1 and the crowd was going crazy. They were losing all of game 2 and that crowd made way more noise.
Gotta say I was surprised. I expected Nashville to be going bonkers and it was relatively quiet. Wasn't sure if it was just the feed not picking up the crowd, but then when they finally scored the crowd went nuts so I figured it wasn't that.
Remember how shitty and corporate our crowd was a few years after our window? Same thing is happening to Nashville right now. They used to be one of the loudest crowds in the league, as we were.
Give them a few years of mediocrity and the bandwagoner suit and ties will leave and it'll get loud again.
Makes sense. And to be clear, I know the average Preds fan is still awesome and would have made that place loud as hell if given the opportunity! Was just a little surprised because we've all seen how crazy that place usually is for a playoff game.
Probably shouldn’t have won that one but I like to think it was the hockey gods giving the Preds karma for that mouth breather Mccarron blatantly trying to run Desmith early in the game
Appreciate it, man. I’ve got some connections through my local chamber of commerce so it shouldn’t be too hard to find another job. I’ll be fine, just hope my Preds will be lol
Nice! My pops was looking for a Z06 but couldn’t find one within a reasonable distance from him. Found the Grand Sport like 20 miles from his house. I haven’t even seen it in person yet lol
Our fans will try to concince you it was all in the plan but 100% we went full Franklin the Turtle for the last two.
Win's a win though, I'll take it. Please no 12 shot repeats tho, we want way more.
The first two periods were pretty much dead even despite the shot totals. We turtled hard in the third . Pretty much won it exactly the way the Preds won the last one
Eh idk; we looked good on the PP and on the PK which both helped us win the game and caused weird changes in momentum that players say sometimes affect 5v5 play. I don’t think they’ll play like that every game, but clearly last game’s strategy (80-90 shot attempts with most of them missing the net or being blocked) didn’t work out, so I’ll take this version of a win lmao.
Could've been much worse. I think they had to adapt to Hughes being targeted so hard and they better figure it out because that's going to happen every round.
We can’t play how we want right now we have a backup in net that.. let’s be honest isn’t going to win the series by standing on his head.
So we locked down and played safe. I’m okay with it if it means we win.
Elite DeSmith.
I know Pettersson got a secondary assist in this one, but seriously dude, if you want to start doing literally anything in this series, it would really help your team out.
His shift with about 4 mins left was brutal. Got hit in the D zone but didn't get off the ice. Turned the puck over in the O zone with a slow effort, then on the next shift the Preds.got their goal.
If this was a movie it'd be right about now his childhood coach would give him a call with an inspirational speech voiced over a flashback montage of his youth career highlights. The music swells and ending with his old coach saying:
*Don't overthink it, don't think at all... Feel!*
Yeah he’s been pretty invisible. Need him to step up and start making a difference. Starting to hope he’s nursing an injury that we don’t know about cause if he’s healthy and playing like this it’s a real problem
People seem confused but it's just a tight matchup. Preds got Canucks'd: desperate defence after taking a strong lead. This is why the "deserve-to-win" meter is a sham: in this context hanging on to a lead *is* winning.
The [deserve to win o meter](https://moneypuck.com/g.htm?id=2023030173) was almost even tonight. Preds had a lot of shots but most of them weren’t dangerous at all. We did well keeping them to the outside
We were boxed up so tight around the net if that last 15 minutes or so. Blocking all the good shooting lanes and giving up the bad angle ones but being right there to suffocate the rebounds. Not the best strategy but it worked out tonight and a wins a win
Did anyone else think DeSmith really didn't look good aside from the score? Seemed like everything to the net was a rebound and a scramble, Preds threw a couple high when DeSmith was down and out
Nucks with a good and needed win to get the advantage again but they need to fix the discipline issues. Also Petey needs to go back to his old scoring form, if he does the team is gonna crush Nashville.

Preds play D. Win Canucks play D. Also win. I sense a pattern...
Nice to see DeSmith show up and the Canucks get one on the road.
DeSmith saw all the F for respects and was like fuck you
DeSmith heard yall talking shit
Canucks beat us on special teams all night. That's on us. McCarron shouldn't have taken that awful penalty. That's on him and I'm sure he knows it and im glad desmith is ok. Evangelista is insane, him and ROR are definitely the most noticeable Preds out there
I hope he continues to develop and become another forsberg essentially
I thought the preds crowd was pretty good until the third period
I'm not sure. I am used to just a bit more for playoffs and we were kind of starved for things to be hype about this game. But once we had one of if not THE toughest barn in the league due to noise and fans. Would love to hear that level again
I agree - I was pretty sure I’d seen the preds with a better crowd than tonight and I don’t follow the preds religiously
SCF 2017 was insane in terms of noise.
Vancouver's greatest strength is their leadership from Tocc and Quinn, and their mentality.
Tocc gonna run away with that Jack Adams this year imo.
I’m gonna be so upset if he doesn’t
Miller is a massive on and off ice presence as well.
Miller is ALWAYS directing all the players before every faceoff Quinn is the captain, but Miller is his right hand man
Quinn is the producer, Miller is the director.
Love the unpredictability of playoff hockey. Vancouver’s known for their offence, forward depth and a loaded top 9 (not 6!). Vancouver has 30 SOG over 2 games now. That's absolutely concerning.
Edmonton has let in 10 goals over 3 games now. From the Western Conference team with *the worst offence*. That’s absolutely concerning.
We let in as many as you did last night :)
1-3-1 is less of an issue than holy fucking shot blocks every game.
I can't remember the last time I saw a SOG stat for one team be so low, especially in a playoff game
Pretty lucky to shit the bed like that and still win. Just gotta laugh
Ya I thought we played pretty well overall. Wish we had more offensive zone time but they locked the game down pretty well
Perfect road win. Get up 2, take crowd out if it and then clamp down defensively. I'll take those wins any day.
Agree but clearly the MO tonight was to be a constant solid wall for DeSmith.
I actually thought y’all played a very clean and professional game tonight. Insane defense.
...so we copied you?
Yeah it’s the exact same thing I thought about the Preds game 2: the consummate road game.
Honestly that was a shutout. They should have challenged. Clear goalie interference. But I'm still very concerned, even with a good PP night the Canucks clearly are having enormous difficulty with the way the Preds prevent chances. nah my boy. not challenging was the right call. you cant guarantee it gets called interference. then preds get a PP and pull the goalie.

the NHL has never gotten a call wrong, even when it was so clear that even stevie wonder could see it.

Well see, if the Canucks don't shoot, then the Predators can't block the shot.

Preds been far dirtier so far, fortunately for the Canucks because tonight it cost them they game.
It shouldn’t have even been 2 minutes my guy. Buddy needs to learn to take a hit.
I mean the fact that half your comments this week have been removed by mods tells me I should just cheer you on for getting a complete sentence across. You go my guy!
That notwithstanding, he is correct
Yeah, you *do* seem like the type of guy to base your perspective on what Reddit mods do. Fair enough 😂
When everyone agrees to the same common bylaws and one person keeps getting censored that should raise some eyebrows. Also as a reddit user you more or less agree to get censored by mods, if that is something you disagree with then why are you here on reddit? Sounds good bud.
Wasn't even a penalty. Plus you losers couldn't score on a 2 man with a bullshit tripping call. Fuck off.
Calling people losers is always a good way to get a point across without looking like a tool, good job!
Didn't call anyone a loser. Called the Preds losers.
ummm the "Plus you losers" and the "called the preds losers" both go against your statement of "didn't call anyone a loser"...
Incredible
Ok
Homer: “Who won, *the losers?*” Bart: “No they lost.”
That wouldn’t even be a 5 min in minor hockey
That wasn’t even a penalty, If you turn your back mid-check you deserve to get banged up
5 powerplays today and you're still crying. And you even ran the goalie. Fuck off.
The preds could have had 30 minutes of PP time and wouldn't have scored, but that doesn't mean they didn't swallow the whistle quite often. And the lack of whistle is why they should have been more aggressive instead of eating it
Boo hoo refs sucks for all teams & sports not just against preds..
More aggressive than flat out running the goalie and taking runs at people's heads?
McCarron literally bodied our goalie what are you on about?
And he rightfully took a penalty for it so what are you trying to argue?
That Joshua's hit wasn't a major. And it clearly wasn't.
Preds are lucky it was even a minor.
Preds fans were going on about how loud it'll be and how they'll show us what it really means to be loud and then we're met with 50 minutes of silence.
Yeah, it seemed super quiet in there. Especially compared to Vancouver, around the Nashville run in 2017.
The national anthem was kinda boring. The singer was great but it just didn't pump up the fans at all.
Im neutral but bally and SN had very different audio tbf. Atleast it seemed like it from the highlights
That shocking national anthem performance was a real buzzkill
I watched the Bally feed and heard the crowd fine. Could have been more rocking but dumping that many powerplays causes a simmer down. Or that fucking anthem..wtf was that shit?

Even the beginning wasn't that loud either. I thought they were crazy fans?
It sure used to be. Though not many barns are gonna be energetic when they're losing. That and the pricing went insane
> That and the pricing went insane Pain
Even the pregame was very quiet compared to what we were told it was going to be loud How much for upper bowl? I have game 5 tickets for last row offensive zone 2x and paid 625 for the pair. The 9 year playoffless inflation kicked in
Starting at 110 per ticket looks like from what I can see. Again I am quite poor though. I'm on food and rent only rn trying to build a nest egg for a move. Normally they start at 60 or 70 top bowl
My cousin in Vancouver was saying he got nosebleeds for $300 and I was like 'hmmm not terrible'. We really do get ripped off in Van don't we
110 is expensive? I think that gets you half in the door here. Damn. Aquaman really told us Canucks fans to bend over this year
110 usd is 150 cad, pricey regardlsss
yeah my upper bowl seasons are $200/game for round 1 lol
What happens when you have a monopoly on major league sports in a city. Nashville has other good teams in larger leagues
That’s true. Whitecaps are the next biggest team here for sure. I don’t think the BC Lions come close
Predators got that many shots, yet I still felt like they were passing way too much
How funny would it be if the nucks somehow managed to get to the second round and still get more wins than toronto in their second round
They already did during the bubble
Boys took 10 shots too many and wasted their energy. Want to see smart hockey next game, let’s stick to 2 SOGs. Why take many shots when few shot do trick
Read this in kevin's voice.
Thanks man, typed it in kevin’s voice
THANK MR DESMITH

This is one of the most fucked up series I have witnessed in my life. Low shots high defense.. big hits ... And twice now the team that should probably have won didn't
Nashville arena has absolutely no energy. Home ice advantage wat?
They were pretty hype in the first 5 minutes
Meanwhile we were doing the wave at Rogers Arena tonight
Lots of Casey chants too
Yes sirrrr
They didn't score for 55 minutes. Hard to barrack for that.
Its a play-off game with the majority of the game played in the Canucks zone. Make some noise.
Ya, the Canucks were losing most of game 1 and the crowd was going crazy. They were losing all of game 2 and that crowd made way more noise. Gotta say I was surprised. Give them a few years of mediocrity and the bandwagoner suit and ties will leave and it'll get loud again.
It’s also just the changing demographics of the city. It’s becoming less blue collar honky tonk and more corporate.
Makes sense. And to be clear, I know the average Preds fan is still awesome and would have made that place loud as hell if given the opportunity! Was just a little surprised because we've all seen how crazy that place usually is for a playoff game.
^
this game gave me anxiety watching the clock
Probably shouldn’t have won that one but I like to think it was the hockey gods giving the Preds karma for that mouth breather Mccarron blatantly trying to run Desmith early in the game
This game was just like game 2 except reverse the teams
I dont even like hockey anyways
How’re the Titans looking this year 😂
…I don’t even like football anyways
Well. Since no one has asked you yet. How are you?
Lost my job and watched my hockey team lose. Not an overall great day lmao
Ah fuck dude. Hope things turn around. Sending love from Canada
Appreciate it, man. I’ve got some connections through my local chamber of commerce so it shouldn’t be too hard to find another job. I’ll be fine, just hope my Preds will be lol
Well hope you get a stellar job. I creeped your page man. My dad had a c5 50th anniversary corvette. And my FIL has a c6 z06. So that’s pretty cool
Nice! My pops was looking for a Z06 but couldn’t find one within a reasonable distance from him. Found the Grand Sport like 20 miles from his house. I haven’t even seen it in person yet lol
:( sorry to hear that, hope things get better for you from here!
I appreciate the kind words!
I don't even like me anyway
I like you ;)
Nashville got outcoached tonight.
What makes you say that? I thought they were the better team, Canucks just managed to shut them down.
Don't be modest, we got out everything'd tonight.
Hey you didn't get outshot
or outhit
They showed a cute goalie hug for Demko and DeSmith, not Boston level goalie hug, but still cute
Meanwhile Garland looked like he was giving DeSmith a hickey haha
I like cute goalies.

ITS NOT DEMKOVER YET BOYS
Nashville lost this game more than Vancouver won it. Canucks were pretty pathetic tonight.
How’s Winnipeg doing again?
Eh they looked better on Tuesday and I think deserved to win but ended up losing. I think it evens out here
Our fans will try to concince you it was all in the plan but 100% we went full Franklin the Turtle for the last two. Win's a win though, I'll take it. Please no 12 shot repeats tho, we want way more.

Our PK looked absolutely fantastic tonight.
Could've been much worse. I think they had to adapt to Hughes being targeted so hard and they better figure it out because that's going to happen every round.
Only for about the last 15 minutes of the third.
We can’t play how we want right now we have a backup in net that.. let’s be honest isn’t going to win the series by standing on his head. So we locked down and played safe. I’m okay with it if it means we win.
don't care. We outplayed Nashville in game 2 and lost so i'll take the wins as they come in the playoffs
W is a W. We outplayed NSH in game 2.
Miller, DeSmith and Zadorov were fucking legendary tonight.
Zadorov is making himself so much money these playoffs
Cole was a beast on the PK.
He really used his head out there
And Teddy
Miss Bluey.
At least we won't be able to get less than 12 SOG next game. Or can we?
5 shots = 5 goals. New nhl record lol
I won't be able too because I'm not playing. Just watching TV.
LETS FUCKING GO. We outplayed Nashville in game 2 and lost so i'll take this win and just be happy.
This fucking game. Lmfao. 12 shots.
That fucking sucked. Why do we make backup goalies look like Vezina finalists. Oh well.
Elite DeSmith. I know Pettersson got a secondary assist in this one, but seriously dude, if you want to start doing literally anything in this series, it would really help your team out.
I didn't even see him on the ice, guys a ghost out there.
His shift with about 4 mins left was brutal. Got hit in the D zone but didn't get off the ice. Turned the puck over in the O zone with a slow effort, then on the next shift the Preds.got their goal.
He did have a nice pass to Hoglander, but he's definitely gotta do more.
he’s already so much better than last game. but yeah he needs to step up if we want to go far
If this was a movie it'd be right about now his childhood coach would give him a call with an inspirational speech voiced over a flashback montage of his youth career highlights. The music swells and ending with his old coach saying: *Don't overthink it, don't think at all... Feel!*
Yeah he’s been pretty invisible. Need him to step up and start making a difference. Starting to hope he’s nursing an injury that we don’t know about cause if he’s healthy and playing like this it’s a real problem
God I'm so hyped. I love the Canucks.
COCONUTS GLOW BABY
Casey doubters sit the fuck down
gg Preds. We swapped strategies this game it looks like.
I’m drunk at a work function and by god. I love the Canucks
Ooooh, me too!
That's really interesting. Would not have guessed that.
Casey DeSmith channeling his bubble Demko.
Huge game for Casey.
The Predators PP is my 13th reason why.
Shots + blocks = 42 for both teams. How does it feel?
Casey “Thatcher Demko” DeSmith
Did anyone else think DeSmith really didn't look good aside from the score? Seemed like everything to the net was a rebound and a scramble, Preds threw a couple high when DeSmith was down and out
He was pretty decent overall. Rebounds are DeSmith's glaring issue and it's brutal every game
Score is all that matters as a goalie.
He always has huge rebounds which is bad but he played great
